Chapter 4 - Hidden feelings for you:
Yesterday, Lelouch invited Milly, Rivalz, and Nina to dinner to celebrate his nomination for the Livestreamers Awards ceremony. The party was held at the Imperial Villa of the Britannian Imperial Family, where Lelouch, Nunnally, Rolo, Marianne, and the rest of the royal siblings reside.
Now, it's Saturday morning, and Lelouch, Schneizel, and Clovis are discussing yesterday's events in the living room.
Lelouch starts the conversation by saying, "Hey Schneizel, Milly and a couple of other student council""
"Is it because you got into the Livestreamers Awards ceremony and they are coming over for dinner to celebrate?" Schneizel asked.
Lelouch nods and adds, "Yeah, and since it's Saturday, you know what that means."
Clovis chimes in excitedly: "Oh man, I can't wait to try your cooking again, Lelouch! That curry stew you make is amazing, and your royal pudding is out of this world!"
Lelouch and Schneizel both chuckle and say: "We know, Clovis, you love that curry stew."
Suddenly, Lelouch's phone starts to ring with a message from Gino. Lelouch takes out his phone and reads the message: "Hey, are you going to buy food for tonight's dinner?"
Lelouch replies, "Yeah, I am. Do you need something, or do you want to come with me?"
Gino responds, "Sure thing! I was actually ordered to escort you by Sir Bismarck and the emperor himself."
Lelouch asks, "The emperor ordered you to protect me?"
Gino confirms, "Yeah, and he spoke to me in person, not just over a channel."
Lelouch texts back, "Interesting. Alright, I'll meet you outside the gates at 10:20."
But before Lelouch could see Gino's response, Cornelia walked in wearing a long pink satin robe.
"Mornin' Schneizel, Clovis, and Lelouch. What are you guys talking about?" Cornelia asked.
Clovis answered Cornelia by saying: "Lelouch's student council friends are joining us for dinner to celebrate his Livestreamers Awards ceremony win."
While Cornelia and Clovis were talking, Lelouch looked at his phone and saw Gino's response. He quickly typed "Ok" and flipped his phone closed.
Cornelia nodded and said, "I assume Lelouch is cooking because when I was going inside the living room, I already heard your excitement from a mile away, Clovis."
Clovis retorted, "Well, sorry, but you can't deny that you also love Lelouch's cooking."
Schneizel interrupted, "Cornelia and Clovis, can you both stop fighting? We don't want to wake up Nunnally, Rolo, and Euphie, do we?"
Lelouch agreed with Schneizel: Yes, I agree. And since it's almost 10:20, I should get ready to go shopping for tonight's food. Do any of you have any suggestions for dinner or snacks?"
Clovis suggested "Well, we still have a box of cranberries and strawberries, two cartons of milk, and we have no more bags of chips and popcorn since you know that the girls always have snacks for their girl's night."
Lelouch grabbed a notepad from the TV stand and opened a drawer to write down the ingredients he needed for tonight's dinner and snacks.
After finishing the list, Lelouch said, "Okay, then if that's all, I should change my clothes and head out."
Before Lelouch could leave, Schneizel reminded him, "Remember to wear your disguise and take Gino with you, Lelouch."
Lelouch rolled his eyes and replied, "Yes, I will. It's not like I won't remember, Schneizel." He then headed to his room to change his clothes.
And Lelouch went back to his room and changed out of his silky purple pyjamas. He put on a long-sleeved Satin Shirt in white, paired with a light purple high-waisted vintage skirt with a belt and side zipper. He added an ops amethyst silver bracelet, a pair of black thick-heeled round-toe leather high heel shoes, and a wavy shoulder-length wig that was jet black with bangs.
As Lelouch was about to leave his room, he almost forgot his purple sunglasses with a golden frame, which he had left on his vanity. He quickly grabbed them and hung them on his long-sleeved white shirt.
Then he headed to the kitchen on the right, grabbing four reusable bags, folding them, and putting them inside his purple croc shoulder bag. He was ready to go shopping for the evening's dinner ingredients.
As he was about to leave, Marianne saw him and asked, "Going out to buy some groceries for tonight's dinner with the Knight of Three?"
Lelouch replied, "Yes, I am, Mother. But I think after I finish shopping for tonight's dinner, I might go to the park and sit on a bench there to rest."
Marianne gave him a reminder, "Okay, and make sure that no one follows you on the way back."
Lelouch reassured her, "Yes, Mother, I will. But I think I should go now, and I don't want to keep Gino waiting for me."
Marianne waved goodbye to Lelouch as he said goodbye to his mother and headed outside of the Imperial Villa to meet Gino.
Gino was waiting for him outside, crossing his arms and leaning against the wall next to the black gates. He wore a white T-shirt with a black leather jacket, dark blue jeans, and a pair of medium yellow bootlaces.
"Hey, Lelouch, ready to go?" Gino asked as he uncrossed his arms and took a few steps forward.
Lelouch noticed Gino's outfit and smiled. "Looking sharp, Gino. And yes, let's go. We have a long shopping list if we want to cook dinner for everyone."
Gino nodded. "Yeah, let's go. What's the first thing on the list?"
Lelouch pulled out a notepad from his shoulder bag. "We need to buy meat, fish, chicken, sausages, vegetables, two more cartons of milk, four bags of chips and popcorn, and two boxes of cranberries and strawberries from the market."
Gino nodded again, and the two of them made their way to the store. As they walked, Gino couldn't help but notice Lelouch's rounded heels, which he knew were not something Lelouch wore often. He wondered if Lelouch was trying to impress someone or if he just felt like dressing up.
Either way, Gino was happy to be spending time with his friend and excited to cook dinner for everyone.
As they reached the store, they grabbed a shopping cart and started filling it with that, Lelouch and Gino set off to tackle their shopping list. They arrived at the market and headed to the third floor to buy some meat. The market had seven floors, and they knew that the best meat was on the third floor.
When they arrived on the third floor, they found different kinds of meat. There was royal meat for a fancy dinner, classic meat for having friends over for dinner, or medium premium meat for everyone to enjoy at dinner.
Lelouch and Gino entered one of the 30 meat shops at the market and met the shopkeeper. "Hello there, how can I help you with one of the world's best meat to cook for your meals?" the shopkeeper asked.
Lelouch replied, "No thank you, we will tell you if we need your help. Right now, we are just looking around to see different types of meat to cook for dinner."
The shopkeeper nodded and said, "All right then, please feel free to ask me if you have any questions or problems at the shop."
Lelouch and Gino browsed through the meat and finally decided to buy some medium premium meat for dinner and some royal meat for Clovis and Euphie just in case they secretly decide to eat some leftover meat curry stew for another time. After they paid the shopkeeper, they put the meat inside one of the four reusable bags and headed to the next shop.
Before they left, they asked the shopkeeper for recommendations on how to cook the medium premium meat and royal meat, and he gave them some ideas.
After they finished their shopping and exited the market, the afternoon sun was shining brightly. Lelouch turned to Gino and suggested, "Hey, let's take a break from all this shopping and head to the park. We can sit on a bench and enjoy the beautiful weather."
Gino agreed, saying, "That sounds like a great idea. We've been walking around for so long, my feet are starting to hurt."
They walked to the nearby park and found a comfortable bench to sit on. The sun was shining, and the sky was a mix of red and yellow hues. They sat there for a while, enjoying the peaceful atmosphere and taking in the lovely scenery.
Lelouch turned to Gino and expressed his gratitude, saying, "Thanks for coming shopping with me. I couldn't have done it without you."
Gino smiled and replied, "No problem, Lelouch. It was fun. Plus, I'm excited to taste the delicious meal you'll be cooking tonight."
Lelouch chuckled and said, "You won't be disappointed, my friend. It's going to be amazing."
After resting for a few minutes, Lelouch and Gino realized it was time to head back to the Imperial Villa. They gathered their heavy bags and started walking. Lelouch was eager to start cooking and said, "I can't wait to start making dinner."
However, as they continued to walk, Gino suddenly stopped in his tracks, looking sad. Lelouch noticed his friend's expression and asked, "Gino, are you okay? Do you feel sick? If so, we should hurry back to the Imperial Villa and check your temperature. Or I could make you some nice, calming soup to help you feel better."
Gino looked up at Lelouch and smiled, saying, "No, I'm not sick but Lelouch have you even fallen in love with anyone besides your family?
Lelouch blushed a bit of his cheek and answered "No, not really. Why you asked?
Gino shrugged and said, "Just curious, I guess. You're always so focused on your studies and work. I was wondering if you've ever had time for romance."
Lelouch chuckled and replied, "I suppose I haven't. But who knows what the future holds? Maybe one day I'll meet someone who catches my eye."
Gino smiled and nodded, "That's the spirit. You never know what could happen."
They continued walking back to the villa, chatting about their favourite music and drinks. Lelouch couldn't wait to start cooking dinner, and Gino was looking forward to trying out his friend's culinary skills once again.
As they arrived at the villa, Lelouch made a beeline for the kitchen, eager to start preparing the meal without changing his outfit except for the wig. Gino trailed behind him, unpacking the groceries onto the countertop.
Gino couldn't help but feel a bit nervous as he watched Lelouch work on the main course. He had been harboring feelings for his friend for a while now, but he didn't know how to express them without risking their relationship.
As they chopped vegetables and prepared the side dishes, Gino stole glances at Lelouch, admiring his skill in the kitchen and charming personality.
After a while, Gino mustered up the courage to speak. "Hey, Lelouch," he said, trying to keep his voice steady. "I wanted to tell you something."
Lelouch turned to look at him, a curious expression on his face. "Sure, what is it?" he asked.
But before Gino could answer, Rolo and Nunnally burst into the kitchen.
"Nii-San, is dinner ready yet?" Rolo asked.
Lelouch smiled. "Almost, but you guys actually came at the right time because I need someone to taste test the sauce for the chicken."
"Onii-Sama, we're not interrupting anything, are we?" Nunnally asked.
Lelouch answered, "No, of course not Nunnally, and it wasn't important, right Gino?"
"Yeah, it wasn't important at all," Gino quickly answered with a forced smile, trying to push his feelings aside for the time being.
"Nii-San, I will help taste test the sauce," said Rolo. Lelouch took a scoop from the ladle and put it on a soy sauce plate. Rolo took a sip, and his eyes widened in delight. "It tastes delicious!" he exclaimed.
"Really? That's great, and for a moment, I thought I made it sour, but thanks to you, Rolo, I now know that the flavor is sweet!" said Lelouch with a smile.
Gino couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy as he watched Rolo and Lelouch share a happy moment. He knew he wanted to make Lelouch happy too, but for now, he focused on helping with the meal and enjoying the time spent with his friends.
After Lelouch and Gino finished preparing the food for the night, they quickly changed their outfits since it was almost seven o'clock, which was the time that Milly, Rivalz, and Nina would arrive at the Imperial Villa. They wanted to look their best and have a good time with their friends, not just at school but also at the villa.
Lelouch and Gino emerged from their rooms at the same time and headed downstairs on the same staircase. But just as they reached the bottom, the doorbell rang, making Lelouch jump. He knew that Milly, Rivalz, and Nina had arrived and were waiting outside.
Lelouch quickly composed himself and went to open the door, with Gino following close behind. Milly, Rivalz, and Nina were standing on the doorstep, looking excited to come inside.
As Milly, Rivalz, and Nina entered the living room, they saw Nunnally, Rolo, Euphy, and Marianne sitting on the couch and two separate chairs that were part of the couch.
"Welcome, Milly and the others! How have you guys been at school? It feels like I haven't seen you in forever," said Marianne, smiling warmly.
Milly grinned and took a seat on one of the chairs. "We've been good, thanks for asking. School has been busy as usual, but we're managing."
Rivalz plopped down on the couch next to Nunnally and Rolo. "Yeah, it's been pretty hectic with all the exams and projects, but we're getting through it."
Nina settled herself on the other chair, next to Euphy. "I've been busy with my research, but it's going well so far."
Nunnally smiled at them all. "I'm glad you guys could make it tonight. Lelouch and Gino have been working hard on the meal, so I'm sure it's going to be delicious."
Rolo nodded eagerly. "I can't wait to taste it! Nii-San is such a great cook."
Marianne chuckled. "Yes, he definitely inherited that talent from me. But enough about food, how are you all doing in general? Any exciting news to share?"
After a lively conversation, they all made their way to the dining room, where they found a spread of delicious food. They took their seats and started to eat, savoring the flavors and enjoying the company.
Milly took a bite of the chicken and let out a moan of pleasure. "Wow, Lelouch, this is amazing! How did you make it?"
Lelouch smiled modestly. "Oh, it's just a family recipe. I'm glad you like it."
Nina chimed in, "And the salad is amazing too. The dressing is just right."
Lelouch said "Thank you, but it was Gino who helped to make the dressing for the salad."
As they finished their meal, the group chatted and laughed, enjoying each other's company. Milly took a last sip of her wine and said, "That was amazing, Lelouch and Gino. Thank you so much for preparing such a delicious meal."
Lelouch smiled gratefully. "It was our pleasure. We're glad you enjoyed it."
Nina added, "And the dessert was fantastic too. I loved the royal pudding."
Gino blushed a bit at the compliment. "Thank you, Nina. I'm glad you liked it."
As they finished up, they all pitched in to clean up the dishes, taking turns washing and drying. Lelouch and Gino put away the leftovers, while Marianne wiped down the counters.
Rolo helped Nunnally put the dishes away in the cabinets, while Euphy and Nina loaded the dishwasher. Milly and Rivalz took care of the glasses and wine bottles.
After they finished cleaning up, they all gathered in the living room once again, settling down on the couches and chairs. They talked about their plans for the rest of the week and caught up on each other's lives.
As the night drew to a close, Milly stood up and stretched. "Well, it's getting late. We should probably head out."
Lelouch walked them to the door and said, "Thanks for coming, everyone. We had a great time."
Milly hugged him. "Thank you again for the wonderful meal. We'll have to do this again soon."
As they left, Lelouch and Gino looked at each other, both feeling grateful for their friends and the good times they shared. They headed back to the kitchen to finish cleaning up before calling it a night.
After Lelouch and Gino finished cleaning up, they headed to the dining room to relax for a bit with Nunnally, Rolo, and Euphy.
Rolo poured them all some tea while Nunnally grabbed some snacks. They all settled in around the table, chatting and enjoying each other's company.
Euphy smiled at Lelouch and Gino. "You two did an amazing job with dinner tonight. Everything was delicious."
Lelouch and Gino both grinned, pleased with the compliment. "Thank you, Euphy. We're glad you enjoyed it."
"Big sister Euphy, can you give Onii-Sama the letter that had arrived this evening?" Nunnally asked Euphy.
"Of course, Nunnally. Where did you put it?" Euphy asked.
Nunnally smiled. "I put it on the hall table near the entrance. Thank you, Euphy."
Lelouch looked up in surprise. "A letter? Who's it from?"
Nunnally shrugged. "I'm not sure. It wasn't addressed to anyone in particular, but it had our family crest on it."
Lelouch's curiosity was piqued. "Well, let's go take a look then."
They walked to the entrance hall and found the letter on the table, just as Nunnally had said. Lelouch picked it up and examined the seal.
Nunnally leaned in. "So, what did you guys think of the letter?"
Lelouch took a sip of tea. "Honestly, I'm not sure what to make of it. It's definitely from someone in our family, but they didn't leave a name or any specific information."
As he pondered the possibilities, Lelouch wondered to himself, "It's definitely our family's seal. But who could have sent it?"
Rolo looked intrigued. "Do you have any guesses as to who it might be from?"
Gino took a look. "Maybe it's from your dad? Or someone from the Imperial Court?"
Lelouch shook his head. "I doubt it's from my father. He's been out of the country for a while now, and he usually communicates through official channels. And I don't have any current connections at the Imperial Court, so I'm not sure who it could be."
Nunnally looked up at Lelouch, concern etched on her face. "Do you think it could be something bad?"
Lelouch put a reassuring hand on her shoulder. "No, I don't think so. It's probably just some official business or something. We'll find out soon enough."
Gino leaned back in his chair. "Well, we'll just have to wait and see what it says. Maybe it's something exciting."
Nunnally smiled. "I hope so. It would be nice to have something good happen for once."
They all fell into a comfortable silence for a few moments, sipping their tea and munching on snacks.
Eventually, Lelouch checked the time and stood up. "Well, I think it's time for us to wash up and head to bed. We have a busy day tomorrow."
The others nodded in agreement and started to clear away the dishes. As they washed up, they continued to chat and catch up on each other's lives.
Finally, they all said their goodnights and headed off to bed, tired but content after a pleasant evening together. As Lelouch lay in bed, he couldn't help but wonder about the mysterious letter and what it might mean for his family.
But he pushed those thoughts aside and drifted off to sleep, looking forward to whatever the future might hold.
To be continued
Who is the person that had sent the letter to Lelouch?
And is that person a friend or enemy to the royal family? Did Lelouch figure it out before he opened the letter?
