Sineater asked: Accidently grabbed the wrong bag. Scayo
Getting time off together wasn't easy but the family tried their hardest to make time for them. This time was easier than most purely because Scott was still grounded. He'd been lucky and had healed well, but he still wasn't fit for duty yet and had some weight and muscle mass to regain, so Grandma had insisted Scott and Kayo make the most of the enforced downtime and take a long weekend.
Friday meant both of them attending meetings that had been put off for far too long. Scott had an all-day meeting in Berlin – the new TI Second European Division headquarters was still having some teething issues – and Kayo had a meeting with the GDF in Patch Barracks, Stuttgart.
Kayo flew them over in Tracy One, dropping Scott off and flying on to her meeting since she'd finish first. He'd grabbed his bag and watched her leave before descending to the apartment at the top of Tracy Towers to freshen up. Kayo would have to go straight into her meeting but at least Scott had the luxury of an hour to get himself together.
Berlin HQ had only just been completely finished, and the ubiquitous three-bed apartment had been left to last. There was only one bed, one working shower and the only other working thing in the apartment was the coffee machine.
It was all that Scott needed.
He hung the suit bag up to rest and got the coffee machine working. A quick shower and Scott was wrapped in a fluffy towel, sitting on the bed and coffee in hand before getting ready for the meeting when his comm sounded.
'Kayo?'
'Hey, Scott. Just checking in.'
He thought it was a bit odd. Kayo's meeting should have been starting imminently, yet here she was on voice-only comms. Scott frowned and concern blossomed into fear.
'What's wrong? What is it?'
'Nothing's wrong, Scott. Nothing like that.'
Scott was only slightly mollified.
'Have you opened your suit carrier?'
Wait – what?
'No, I've just got out the shower.'
'I suggest you better. How long before your meeting?'
'Less than fifteen minutes. Just enough time to dress and get downstairs.'
'That's what I thought. You better check your suit.'
Confused, Scott pulled the carrier out and unzipped it. What he saw made him sit down on the bed in shock.
'Scott? Scott, you there?'
'I'm here. Oh my god, Kayo!'
'I know. What are you going to do?'
'Do? What can I do? I don't have any clothes here other than the jeans I wore here, and they are currently unwearable.'
He looked at the jeans and shirt, screwed up on the floor in the corner, then took another look at the carrier.
'I guess I'll just have to wear this and make the best of it.'
'You're the boss, it's not like they're going to say anything to you.'
'True. Give me five and call me.'
'Sure thing.'
She disappeared and Scott looked at the suit in the carrier. At least it had trousers, Scott thought ruefully. The teal-coloured suit wasn't his usual colour, but he shrugged his shoulders and got dressed.
The trousers were light with slight cuffing, he wouldn't even know he was wearing them if it wasn't for the fact that they ended on his calves. The long tunic came down to just below the trousers. Scott had been worried that he wouldn't get his arms in the sleeves or that he'd tear it across his shoulders, and although it was a bit tight it was obviously a roomy cut as he could move in the tunic.
He could carry off the colour, he knew that, but he wasn't sure about the extensive gold embroidery along the hem and the bodice. Scott looked himself over in the mirror.
The outfit was stunning, even on him.
Scott pulled out the other items in the bag and grinned at the matching pumps – no way he could fit into them – and the jewellery that had been packed as part of the outfit. There was also a matching scarf which Scott also discarded.
The comm beeped with the promised return call, and this time Kayo came on visual. She was dressed in his suit trousers and shirt, tie but no jacket, and he let out a low whistle. She looked amazing even if the shirt swamped her frame! She looked him over too.
'Damn, Scott. I'm not sure even I look that good in that one.'
'I was just thinking the same about you. Shouldn't you be in your meeting?'
'What, and miss seeing you dressed like that? Not a chance.'
Scott chuckled. He knew that Kayo was humouring him – no way he looked as good as she did in this outfit – but she certainly had a point. Lord knows what the new board would make of his outfit, but he had no more time and he drew himself up. He flashed a smile at Kayo and she returned it.
'Go get them, Flyboy.'
'Likewise, my anak kucing maut.'
She laughed and signed off.
If the board were surprised that the head of Tracy Industries attended in a teal and gold trouser and tunic suit, well, they never said anything. The meeting was a great success, strategies to iron out the last few niggles decided upon, and Scott was very pleased with the results.
His PA didn't bat an eyelid at his outfit, although Scott was sure she grinned when he was turning away from her, and he cocked an eyebrow at her when he looked back. She blushed and he laughed as he bade her goodbye.
Now if only he could make sure that his brothers wouldn't see him like…too late.
John appeared before him, looking down at something while Scott crossed his arms and waited, listening as John talked about some of the finer points they had cleared up in the meeting.
Finally John looked up, and Scott at once put on a mulish face. To his credit John's mouth dropped open only briefly before he shut it with a click.
'Nice outfit, Scott.'
'Shut up, John.'
'I don't think they're the right trousers...'
'Shut up, John.'
He was thankful John hadn't said anything about his bare feet...
Scott made a mental note to make sure he always checked he had the right bag in future.
