Nigel has entered Sarge's mind to take the Basic Braining where he has to go through several war zones recreated from Sarge's memories.

Sarge's Basic Braining Part 1
Nigel finds himself surrounded in a green vortex as he was entering Sarge's mental world and he soon touches the ground on his feet, he had arrived
"So…this is it!" Nigel said dramatically "The mental world…"
The area around him was more like a ordinary office building filled with army and marine recruitment posters and also a Projector, with Nigel in this room was Tony Rydinger.
"It sort of looks like…some kind of dentist office." Tony said rubbing her head.
"A mental dentist office to be exact!" Nigel told him.
Suddenly the projector turns on and on the wall was a projection of Sarge's image as he begins to address them, this wasn't a recording but live though.
"It's a recruiting office, kids, and I'm here to recruit you for the greatest job in the world." Sarge said to Nigel and Tony "Being a Psychonaut. It's about fighting a war for mental freedom! Are you ready to face torture, insanity and death? Cuz this is your last chance to chicken out!"
Nigel was eager to get out their and start, Tony on the other hand wasn't that excited as he raised his hand and said "Oh, me sir! I would like permission to chicken out, please."
"TOO LATE SOLDIER!" Sarge told him.
"But you said…" Tony said to argue but Sarge cuts him off.
"There is only one way out of here: FIGHTING!" Sarge told them "I want one of you chickens to sock me square where my jaw would be! But I warn you, once you do, the war is on."
Tony was trembling and hesitant to move and do it but Nigel rished forward and punches Sarge's face making part of the wall fall over and reveals the world outside the office which was literally a battle field.
"Ah! That's what I'm talking about" Sarge said his projected image now on a giant knife. Nigel nods and moves out to get a look
"Charrrrrrrgggg…" Tony called out running past only for him to suddenly explode.
"Hahaha." Sarge laughed out at it.
"What kind of obstacle course is this?" Nigel asked shocked at what he saw "That kid just got killed!"
"A MENTAL obstacle course, you bleeding heart!" Sarge explained to him "He's not dead. His astral projection just got kicked out of my mind. And I'll kick your rear end-tral projection outta here too, if you don't get moving right now!"
Nigel nods and runs on forward, he assumes the other campers had gotten further into the course so he had to catch up. As he ran and jumped over pits he stopped in horror at a large red Elite standing before him but he flashes in and out of existence and not attacking him.
"Relax-that's just a figment of my imagination." Sarge told him "You can run right though figments they won't do you any harm but there image will be saved into your journel.
"So whenever you see a figment, suck it up soldier!" Sarge finished explaining.
Nigel nods and runs through and past the figment. However he then hears crying and jumps over the gap to see a large living suitcase crying.
"Hey, what're you staring at?" Sarge asked "We all have emotional baggage kid. Why don't you make yourself useful? Sort some of it out while you're in here?"
"Keep your eyes peeled for a tag that matches. Could be anywhere." Sarge explained on how to sort emotional baggage
Nigel sees the tag on the next platform over. He jumps over to it. Sarge then said "There it is! Now, you WILL pick up that tag, ant you WILL put it on that bag you just found. Unless you rather just drop and give me 20 right now!"
"No I'm good!" Nigel said getting the tag and jumps and gives it to the bag who does a happy dance with the tag and leaves
Nigel then continues through the course climbing a ladder to the next area. In the distance as he climbed he could see Nelson ahead climbing up a pole after he reached the top.
"I am not losing to him" Nigel said and goes down and moves to catch up with him and climbs up the poles to reach the top
"Watch out! Fire down below!" Sarge warns him
"What does he… WHOA!" Nigel said sliding down the ladded but stops as jets of fire burst out from above and below him "Oh…I get it now."
He times it and slides down when the jets of fire stop for a while and reaches the wooden platform below where Nelson was. Nigel approaches and sees what stopped him was a crashed missile with the fire still going.
"We can't get past this. This is STUPID." Nelson said annoyed.
"Hmmm. Looks like a test." Nigel said thinking "There's probably a secret, more advanced route."
"What is that supposed to mean?" Nelson asked Nigel glaring at him punshing his palm with his fist "You think you're more advanced than me, new kid?"
"Excuse me, what?" Nigel asked confused, how did this bully get that from his observation.
"I'm not stupid." Nelson told him "You're stupid. The couch is stupid. The whole camp is stupid." He then points behind Nigel and said "That thing flying at you is stupid!"
"What's flying at me?" Nigel asked looking in the direction concerned only to feel himself being kicked off the platform "Wha-"
"HA-HA! Made you look! Nelson Muntz's foot was what was coming at you! You idiotic new kid! Yeah!" Nelson said mockingly and laughing and then he does a little mocking dance "Eh, eh-heh! Eh, eh, eh-eh! Eh, eh-eh!"
Nigel screams as he was getting closer to the ground but soon stopped before crushing a planet he opened his eyes to find he was floating in midair upside down. He sees in front of him was Rachel who had a hand on her head. He got what happened, she had used levitation mental power to catch him.
"Oh, heh. Thanks for saving me!" Nigel said smiling.
"Well, actually I was more saving this plant" Rachel told him indicating to the plant he was going to land on.
Nigel looks at it and it was actually a weird plant in the fact it looked to be made of meat rather then leaves and flowers. He said "Huh. Never seen one so meaty before."
"Actually, I have." Rachel admits "It's been appearing in this creepy nightmare I keep having."
"Oh, you're having nightmares?" Nigel asked excited "I've been reading about how to fix those! Will you let me see one?"
"Hmmmm. No." Rachel told him and then sends him back up to the platform.
Nigel lands back on the platform and sees that Nelson has taken that time to run off to continue the course.
"Well, that was a delay, but I can't let it deter me." Nigel said nodding and slides down a ladder to the ground to. He searches it and finds in the bushes a secret tunnel "Ha! I knew it!"
He enters the whole and follows the path and begins to climb up some cliffs avoiding explosions from planes dropping missles and then begins to follow Mr. Hippo and shimmy along a ledge to get to the other side
"Is your name Joey?" Sarge asked Nigel.
"No!" Nigel told him
"Because I'm gonna call you 'Slowey Joey'" Sarge said ignoring him
"But…that's not my name!" Nigel repeated to him.
"What was that Slowey?" Sarge asked him with a glaring look "I can't hear you! You're talking too slow!" He then laughs to himself.
Nigel sighs and reaches the end and continues along his way. Finding more baggage to sort and figments to record as he jumps up some nets as trampolines. He then reaches a wall he has to climb up. Through some missles hit it make holes in the netting
"Now that kind of wall you can climb it up, down, sideways, whatever way you want." Sarge told him "Just get on it. Quick! Like a monkey!"
Nigel began climbing up the wall avoding areas blowing up but as he climbed he noticed hanging onto the wall in fear and panic was Pain.
"Hey, slow down new kid." Pain told him as he begins moving "If you pass me or Nelson you'll make us look bad, and Nelson will pound you deaf." He then noticed he was on his own "NELSON CAN YOU HEAR ME? WHERE ARE YOU?" He begins to get really nervous
"Don't leave me alone out here Nelson! I'm frightened! I'm frightened!" Pain said in a panic and then sponteniously explodes as Nigel climbs
"Huh…guess he really is the nervous weasel type." Nigel notes as he reaches the top of the wall and pulls himself up. And noticed ahead of him a mindfield but standing at the entrance was DJ looking nervous. "Hey DJ. What's wrong?"
"I keep blowing up." DJ said revealing he is having trouble crossing the minefield
Nigel thought about it, with his skills he could get across easy but he didn't want to leave DJ stranded here.
"Follow me DJ!" Nigel told him "I'll help you though the the mines!"
"Alright." DJ said nodding.
Nigel began to help guide DJ through the safe route through the minefield, he had to be careful as if DJ got to close to a mine or if Nigel goes too far, DJ will panic and combust and appear back at the start of the course. Of course if DJ's worry got too much Nigel would reassure him and eventually they made it too the end.
"Look Nigel! I didn't blow up!" DJ said happily
"Good hustle out there DJ" Nigel said to him giving a thumbs up
"Oh, this is for helping me out" DJ said pulling out some arrowheads and giving them to Nigel "Okay see you."
Nigel nods and takes them. He then jumps on the flag pole and climbs it to raise the flag and open up the door to the next area.
Once Nigel enters through to an area that looks like part of a plane, inside was Mr. Hippo. Then the door behind Nigel slams shut and the plane shakes and a red light goes off
"The plane's going down soldier!" Sarge informs them "Hit that door and Geronimo!"
"Hey, no one told me to pack a chute." Nigel said in a panic
"Did Master Chief have a chute when he fell back down to Earth?" Sarge asked "Just jump sissy!"
"Well, I guess we're all going to die." Mr. Hippo said "My whole life is flashing before my eyes." He then begin to go on a long droll story that seemed not to go anywhere.
"Is there like a climax to this story?" Nigel asked hopeful
"Didn't I mention Happy Frog yet?" Mr. Hippo asked "I thought I mentioned her. Okay, let me start over. First…" Nigel in a panic hit the door opening it and Mr. Hippo gets pulled out by the wind and holds on long enough to say "And then I gave Orville a sandwich." He then lost his grip and falls out the plane.
"Phew…that guy takes a long time to get to the point" Nigel said and jumps out the plane as it was the only way out.
Nigel screams as he falls to the ground and lands in some snow. He recovers and looks around to see he was now in a snowy region warzone now. He also wasn't along as their was Cheese Sandwich and Veronica.
"Hey look! It's Nigel!" Cheese Sandwich cheered happily.
"Yay! Nigel is here!" Veronica also cheered.
"Yeah, maybe you'll be able to beat this darn game." Cheese Sandwich said "We can't do it."
"Yeah, we're admittingly no good at it, plus the couch won't open the gate until someone wins." Veronica said "Nelson apparently found a shortcut but he blurted it out loudly so the couch closed it off after he made it on through."
"Yay Nigel!" Cheese Sandwich cheered and points to the button at the centre "Just punch that button to start!"
Nigel goes to punch the button but he was finding himself getting more and more annoyed from the two cheerleaders cheering his name, he needed quiet to focus and he jumps and slams his astral hand down on the button
"You score enough points on this course kid, and I'll give you a reward!" Sarge told him "You need 20 points to pass, you get a point for each enemy target you hit, but if you hit a friendly target you will receive 0 points."
Nigel nods and the course begins as he proceeds to punch the targets, all the while Cheese Sandwich and Veronica were cheering which was driving him nuts which made if difficult when they got faster to hit but he managed to hit the last one to get 20 points
"Hey, good job soldier." Sarge said nodding "now here's your reward." He hits a button and a bomb is dropped on Cheese Sandwich and Veronica making them explode and he laughs as the gate opens "Hahaha"
Nigel sighs in relief and recovers from his headache and runs through the gate and comes across a vault that also resembles a piggy bank.
"Most people-they got something to hide." Sarge explained "They store away their shame, their dirty secrets, in these tiny vaults in their minds. But the enemy is not allowed any secrets in wartime, are they soldier? So go ahead and bust open this vault. I got nothing to hide!"
"Well, best to have a look" Nigel said and goes and smacks the vault making it fall down and open it's door and a memory real comes out on it's tongue
"Ah, good." Sarge said sound proud "You enjoy that. One of my favourites!"
Nigel puts to his eyes and sees it's a reel titled 'Sarge's Pride.' It shows Sarge in various battles leading troops even when he was still a rookie and was giving orders to his supieiors but each new real shows him at a higher rank till he was the rank of General.
"I don't know…something was off about this" Nigel said to himself not sure if that memory was a real one
He decides to move on and whacks a cut out enemy to knock it down and make a bridge and runs to behind a wall as a large gun turret open fires at him. It showed no signs of stopping but he whack the wall as it had an enemy on it and it goes down and other goes up.
Nigel runs and does this avoiding the turret fire as he got closer and closer to the turret till he makes it to the final wall with an enemy on it and upon hitting it, the turret shuts down.
"Now's my chance!" Nigel said and climbs up the to the roof of the turrent and flames the weak part of the turret opening it.
Then climbing out was none other than Nelson who smirks saying "Yeah! CLASSIC NELSON!" He then runs off and Nigel shakes his head.
"I don't know if he was the one firing but I will get him back for this if he was" Nigel said and looks down the hole and jumps down as it was the only way forward
Well Nigel has passed the ground battle and snowy tundra battlefields but Nelson is going out of his way to try and slow Nigel down. Who will win? Find out next time.
