I ran into the kitchen where the crash came from. I saw John was on the floor with a knife in him. His ring and the finger it used to be on, along with all of the other fingers from his hand, were on the counter. I gasped as I took out my phone. I may not have liked him but that didn't mean that I wanted him to die. Not to mention, I really didn't want to go to another funeral. Yes, I could not go, but it would be rude not to go.

"911, what's your emergency?" The operator asked.

"Hello, I need an ambulance to 2104 Maple Street." I told the operator. I then noticed that John was telling me that there was someone behind me. I looked behind me and they were already gone, and they rushed out the door. Well, I knew that a vampire was involved. They also knew about his ring from the fact that it had been removed. I didn't think Damon had done because apparently had some dirt on him and Stefan. I wasn't sure how he had gotten that information, but it was probably not something that we wanted to get out.

"What's going on?" Anna asked as she came downstairs. I saw immediately saw the veins forming under her eyes as she smelled the blood. I definitely didn't want her to kill him.

"Anna, no." I responded as I held her back. I took her into the living room to get her away from the blood. I texted Stefan to come over. "Did you not hear what happened?"

"I was sleeping." She responded. I would think that a vampire would be a light sleeper. Also, it was pretty early for her to be sleeping, though I slept a lot after my parents died and especially when I had my first period. It was unfortunate that she couldn't tell me.

Stefan didn't take long to arrive. I let him in the house while Anna was telling Elena what I thought had happened. The ambulance had also just arrived. Hopefully, I wouldn't have to go with them. Well, I needed to go to the hospital anyway because I heard that Caroline was there.

"What happened?" He questioned as he hugged me.

"One of the tomb vampires must have escaped and attacked John." I explained. That was literally all that I could think of. "I didn't see who it was."

"Are you sure Anna didn't do it?" He asked. Why did he think the worst of her? I was a little offended that he was accusing her.

"She was upstairs sleeping when it happened." I explained before she came downstairs. "Look I need to get to the hospital to see Caroline and I'm taking Anna with me in case she needs some blood. Can you stay and watch Elena for me?"

"Okay." He agreed before I gave him a kiss. Anna came down and then she drove Elena's car to the hospital. I wasn't entirely sure where her car was, but it did make sense that she couldn't park it in the driveway. We would have to get it later. I also hoped that I would be able to get a car soon because I was almost 16.

When I got to the hospital, I noticed that Bonnie was there looking distraught. I had a feeling that it meant that Caroline's condition was not very good. I hoped that we would have enough time to heal her.

"Bonnie, there has to be some sort of spell you can do." I replied. If there were spells that could turn me into a girl, there had to be ones that could heal someone.

"There is but she can't do it." Damon interrupted. "It took Emily years to learn a simple healing spell. Fortunately, we do have other options."

"There's no way that I'm letting you give her your blood." Bonnie stated. I mean I had thought of that. I just hoped that she would be okay and not become a vampire, but it was a risk we had to take.

"Bonnie, we are doing this." I declared authoritatively. I was not going to let her die. "If Caroline doesn't get any blood, she's going to die. Now either Damon's doing it or Anna's doing it."

"Fine, let her do it." Bonnie relented. I was glad that we had come to an agreement. "At least she never tried to kill me."

Anna walked off and Bonnie headed to the restroom, leaving me with Damon. I couldn't help but where Matt was. Though, maybe he was in his own room since he had also been in the same crash.

"So, something strange happened tonight." Damon told me. I looked at him in confusion. Also why was he telling me about weird occurrences. "Elena kind of kissed me."

"No, there's no way that Elena kissed you." I declared. She was still with Anna. I didn't know if she would still be if she found out that we kissed. "I'm sorry but you had to be imagining it."

At that point, Jenna came over to us. I couldn't help but wonder why she hadn't been at home, but it was probably a good thing that she wasn't.

"I got over here as soon as I could." She declared. "How is he?"

"He's in surgery. Where were you?" I asked her.

"I was talking to the fire department." She replied. "I told Elena to tell you."

"Elena didn't know where you were though." I responded. Something weird was going on. Had she been compelled somehow?

Anna then came back, and she and Damon went back to my house with me. When we got there, we noticed that Stefan appeared to have been thrown to the floor. Had the tomb vampire come back?

"What happened?" I questioned. Maybe he could at least tell me who it was.

"Katherine happened." Damon responded. Fuck, what she was doing here? That was really bad.

"She said that she fooled one of us." Stefan replied. Did she think it was a good idea to be there while Elena was upstairs? Did that also mean that she was the one who attacked John? I supposed it made more sense for her to be invited into the house than some random vampire. "What does that mean?"

"She kissed me." Damon responded. "I thought she was Elena."

At that point, I shot Anna a look because I knew that if she showed too much emotion, she could accidentally reveal that I had kissed her and neither of us wanted that information to get out.

"Anna, he kissed Katherine." I told her. I needed her to remain calm. "Elena wouldn't do that. She would never cheat on you. Speaking of Elena, we need to tell her about this immediately. I think you should go upstairs and do that."

Anna disappeared up the stairs, leaving me with the two of them. Also, if Elena had cheated on her, she really wasn't in a position to judge. It was going to be really awkward if Elena found out that I had made out with her girlfriend.

"So, what are we going to do now that Katherine is here?" I questioned. This was a very big problem since she turned both of them. Actually, I didn't think it was that important. The fact that she was identical to Elena was probably a bigger concern.

"Nothing." Damon answered. That sounded like a bad idea. "If Katherine wanted you dead, you would be dead and there would be nothing that you could do about it, but obviously, no one, not even John is dead, so she obviously has other plans. I say we ignore her and draw her out."

"Then what do we do?" I inquired. There had to be some way to deal with her.

"Well, we can stake her, rip her head off, burn her alive." Damon listed. All of those involved knowing where she was.

At that point, Anna came downstairs with tears in her eyes. I hoped that nothing had happened to Elena. I don't think Katherine would have been able to kill her with Stefan watching the door.

"What's wrong?" I asked before hugging her.

"Elena broke up with me." She explained. I hoped that she hadn't told what had happened. She had just gotten over being mad at me. "She was really upset at me for not telling her about Katherine as soon as she found out I was a vampire."

I actually wasn't sure if that was fair to be honest. I mean it wasn't like Anna had dated Katherine… wait, had she?

"So, John's obviously not going to be here tonight." I explained. "Do you wanna stay over again?"

"Yes, and if you want to kill Katherine, I want to help. I lost my mother because of her." She answered. Could we confirm that was her fault? I mean I wouldn't doubt she did it, but could we confirm it?

"Well right now, it would be best to find out what she wants." I pointed out. "Maybe I can talk to John about this. The doctors said that he was likely going to live."

In the morning, I decided to do just that with Anna by my side. I was pretty sure that she wanted to see him suffering. I was wearing a white tank top and low-cut jeans with a leather jacket. I was trying to look tough, but I wasn't sure if it was working. Though, there was one person that I wanted to see first. I found Matt and he was able to take me to Caroline's room.

"Jersey Shore's on." She declared with a smile. I didn't understand how someone could watch that show, but if she was okay, I was fine with it. It wasn't like I could change the channel anyway. I decided to go and give her a hug. "Oh, why are you being so mushy?"

"I'm just glad that you're okay." I told her. From there, I made my way to John's room. I had every right to see him since he was my father. He was asleep. We walked into his room. "John?"

He woke up and then he freaked out at the sight of Anna, possibly thinking that we were here to kill him. She grabbed the remote from him and laid him back. Did he really think I would do that? I wasn't someone who would kill another person, regardless of if they had killed my friend's mom.

"Maybe you shouldn't be such a tough guy right now." The vampire told him. It was humorous to see her push him around.

"We want to talk to you about Katherine." I explained. "I was hoping that you could tell us what she wants."

"It might make it easier to protect you." Anna added. I knew that she didn't want to protect him, but she would listen to me.

"Why should I tell you?" John questioned.

"If not me, then tell your daughter." Anna instructed.

"My daughter should have driven a stake through your heart a long time ago." John replied. "Last night was the first time that I ever spoke to Katherine directly. So, you can either kill me or you can get out."

"Okay, then fuck you." I told him as I exited the room. She stayed behind for some reason. I met her outside. "What took so long?"

"I had a nice civil conversation with your father." She responded.

"You threatened him, didn't you?" I asked bluntly.

"I might have a little." She replied with a smile. "I wanted to kill him, but didn't because I knew you didn't want me to."

"Well good. I want him gone. I want him out of my life so I can ask Jenna if you can move in with us." I told him. I was also glad that she had shown restraint. I couldn't be easy to show mercy to someone who had killed your mother. "I know I shouldn't feel that way, but I do."

"Let's go home." She suggested. I was going to get her to move in with us. We just needed John to be gone first.

"So, I want you to come to the mayor's wake with us today." I remarked. "Mainly because I don't want to go and if I have to go, so do you."

"You know I'm stronger than you." She pointed out.

"Yeah, but that's something friends do for each other." I declared. We went home before we decided to talk Jenna. "So, I talked to John. It sounds like he's going to leave as soon as he gets out of the hospital. Do you think it would be possible for Anna to move into the extra room by any chance?"

"What happened to your mom?" Jenna asked her as Anna began to tear up. I wished that she hadn't said that.

"She had a heart attack." I lied. It was the best thing that I could think of, and I hoped Jenna would believe it.

"Why didn't you tell me sooner?" Jenna questioned as she gave the vampire a hug. "Yes, you can stay you as long as you want, even permanently."

"Thank you, Ms. Sommers." Anna replied. It was weird hearing her call Jenna that. I was glad that she was so welcoming of her.

"Please call me Jenna." My aunt replied. Technically, she was my uncle's wife's sister, but I was just going to call her my aunt. "So, were you gonna come to the mayor's wake with us?"

"Yes, she is." I answered for her. I needed to tell Elena that she was going to be staying and maybe they would be able to get back together. I wasn't like I could date her.

One thing that I didn't like about going to the wake was that I had to wear a dress to it. Anna was able to help me. She gave me a black lace jacket and dress.

"You really look beautiful." She told me. I blushed. "I'm sorry, but you do."

We then went to get Elena before we headed in Jenna's car to the Lockwood mansion. I was glad that she already seemed to have been invited in. Bonnie ended up calling us on the way, which made me believe one thing. Katherine was there. That would be problematic. I would have to make sure that I didn't get fooled, so I made sure to meticulously memorize exactly what Elena was wearing, down to every piece of jewelry. I could not let myself be fooled by someone pretending to be my sister.

"Why do we have to be here?" Elena asked with a frown as we headed into the house. I was pretty sure that she especially didn't want to be with Anna. I really hoped that the third time would be the charm.

"Because the Lockwoods were here for us when we were going through this." Jenna reminded her. Maybe I would actually talk to people at this thing. "We don't have to stay long. We can just pay our respects and say hello to a few people and leave."

The problem was that I didn't really know who to talk to. I didn't really want to talk to Tyler, even though it would probably be nice to do so. I was also concerned about the fact that Katherine was there. I was pretty sure that she couldn't be trusted, even though I was pretty sur that she wouldn't try to kill someone in broad daylight.

"Do you have any idea what we're supposed to do?" Anna asked me.

"Maybe we could try to talk to Mrs. Lockwood or something?" I suggested. "I don't really know. I was going to try if I could find something to drink."

"I don't know if they'll have anything for us to drink here." She commented. There might be a little bit of wine. Didn't they have drinks sometimes at funerals? Granted, it wasn't an actual funeral. I also wondered what they were going to tell the media. I had to imagine that the fact that the mayor had died during the town's Founder's Day celebration would be something that the state and maybe even national news would want to know about.

"Well, there she is. Let's go talk to her." I replied as I grabbed Anna's hand. Friends could hold each other's hands. I was a little bit nervous about it because I hadn't really ever talked to her, and I was a little bit scared of her to be honest.

"Hello, Mrs. Lockwood." I greeted her.

"Hello, Mary, it's good to see you here." She told me. "I just wish that the circumstances were better."

"This is my friend Anna. She just recently lost her mother, so she knows how you feel." I declared. I realized that I probably shouldn't have said that to her.

"Well, I guess misery loves company." Mrs. Lockwood replied. I also couldn't help but wonder who was going to be the mayor now.

"I'm sorry for your loss." Anna commented. She probably felt like she needed to say something to make it less awkward. It didn't really work.

"And I'm sorry for yours." Mrs. Lockwood declared. Yup, it was still awkward.

"Who is that guy?" Anna asked as she noticed someone that I hadn't seen in a while.

"That's Richard's brother, Mason." Mrs. Lockwood explained. I was a little surprised when I first learned it. Mason was much younger than his brother. I was pretty sure that their father had cheated on his wife and had him while Richard was in high school…or something.

"Okay, we're going to have some snacks." I improvised. Actually, that didn't sound like a bad idea. I had heard that there were chocolate-covered strawberries, and I really liked chocolate-covered strawberries.

"So, we should probably try to find Stefan." Anna suggested. "I wouldn't be surprised if Katherine was looking for him. She told me that she liked him the best."

"I really hope that she hasn't found him." I remarked.

She had. He was outside pinned to a tree with a metal pole. I took some napkins out of my purse and tried to clean him up. He had healed, but it was still kind of bloody. I did not have a problem with seeing his abs as I did so. Just because I was seemingly attracted to Anna didn't mean that I still wasn't attracted to him as well.

"What happened?" I asked. As he buttoned his shirt.

"I thought that by playing her game I could find out what she wanted." He explained. "I was trying to get into her head, but she kind of got into mine."

"Yeah, she's really hard to get the upper hand on." Anna agreed. "So, can we please get out of here? I don't want to see Katherine and think that she's Elena or vice versa."

I could imagine that would be an issue. I also was still curious if the two of them had had a romantic encounter in the past. It would make things really awkward. I didn't even know how old Anna was. It was probably something that I would need to ask in the future, but not at this time.

"Yes, so what are we going to do about Katherine?" I asked.

"I have no idea." He admitted. "While we're on the subject of exes, Katherine still has a thing for me, but I can assure you that the feelings are one-hundred percent one-sided. I would never do that to you."

Him telling me about that made me feel really guilty, especially since the timing of my cheating on him was really bad.

"You know if she wasn't a vampire, I would so fuck her up for going after my man." I joked. I knew that I probably didn't have a chance, but maybe I could surprise her.

That night, I noticed that John was back, and he had some bags in his hands. I couldn't help but smirk.

"So, it looks like you're following Anna's advice." I noted. The sooner that he left, the better.

"Well, it doesn't seem like anyone wants me here." He replied. "Can I get a hug before I go?"

"What I said to you earlier is all that you're going to get." I said. I kind of felt like I should say it again, but I chose not to.

"Okay." He responded before going out the door. I slammed it shut on the way out before going up to my room. Anna wasn't there because Jenna was helping her get set in the guest room. However, Damon was there. I didn't know why he was there, but I assumed it was because he wanted to talk to me. I didn't really want to talk to him, but I also knew that it would be rude not to talk to him since he had come over to see me.

"What are you doing here?" I asked him because I was still surprised to see him.

"Katherine told me that she doesn't love me." He explained sadly. "I know that this probably sounds strange, but you're one of my only friends. I just needed someone to comfort me right now."

Why was it that everyone wanted me to comfort them? Did I look like I was good at comforting people? I was pretty sure that I was pretty bad at it. The thing was that I would probably have to try to do it even though I didn't think that I could. I especially didn't know if I would be able to do it for Damon because I didn't know how I was going to comfort him. What would help?

"Damon, I'm not sure that I can do that." I told him. I really was pretty bad at this comforting thing. "But whatever you're going to do to get rid of Katherine, I will be glad to help. I also don't really want to talk right now. Can you please go home so I can get some sleep?"

He went out my window and I sighed. I couldn't help but wonder if I should have just asked if Anna could share my room. I really liked talking to her before bed, but it seemed that I'd have to fall asleep on my own.

So Anna and Mary are sleeping in different rooms now. Damon didn't kill anyone fortunately. How will things change now that Katherine is around? Please don't forget to review.
