DM77's Psychonauts Chapter 9

Reaching Felicia

Nigel had made it to the beach area of the camp and walks down to it looking around, he could see the docks and the canoe shack where he can see Raine inside with one of their disguises.

However when Nigel looks to the water of the lake he looks freaked out as an arm made of water emerges from it, it points at Nigel and motions him to come closer before going back in. Natually Nigel was freaked out.

Tony was nearby sees Nigel freak out and approaches him saying "You have a water phobia? So do I!

"Uh…no. Well, yes. I just…my family has this problem with water." Nigel said trying to explain "It's a bunch of hooey anyway. Some old gypsy curse about how we're all supposed to die in water, if you can believe that."

"Oh, I thought it was about the whole thing with the brain-eating fish that walks out of the lake at night to hunt for victims." Tony said in response to that which makes Nigel reaise an eyebrow. He then walks off saying "Well, see you." He stops however and looks to him "Um, hey, Nigel…I saw you and Rachel talking in Sarge's class, and I was wondering…Were you asking her to…. 'go' with you?"

"WHAT? No! I'm here to train. No distractions" Nigel said in response to that.

"Excellent! Bye!" Tony said smiling.

Nigel nods and looks around the beach a bit and then sees emergeing from the water, DJ walking onto the beach.

"DJ! Are you okay?" Nigel said running over to his friend "I had the strangest machine-induced dream about you!"

"TV?" DJ said in a dazed like state.

"Well first of all, Wiz invited me down to his Secret lab and…" Nigel tried to explain but stopped when he saw DJ begin to walk away.

"TV?" DJ repeats as Nigel stops him.

Nigel looks into DJ's ear and sees he could see right though it to out the other ear and he was shocked as he said "He's completely brainless! The dream was true!" He watches DJ walk off towards the main lodge and said "DJ, don't worry. I know where your brains are. They're in….like, this crazy, dream-thorn-bush-straight-jacket-tower place."

"Hackey sack?" DJ just said.

"You go to the TV lounge." Nigel told him "I'm on the case. I just need a little more advanced training to prepare…" He watches DJ leave and heads to the boardwalk Tony was on and sees him leaning down holding his head and said "Hey Tony, have you heard anything else about that thing in the lake?"

"Huh? Oh no not really." Tony said looking at him "The fish are kind of going crazy about Nelson and Pain over there torturing anything that swims too close. Ohhh, somebody should do something."

"Yeah!" Violet said suddenly appearing.

"Well, I supposes I could talk to them…" Nigel said thinking but he doubts the two bullies of the camp would listen. Violet goes invisible again and Tony goes back to talking to the fish mentally.

Nigel goes to canoe cabin and sees Admiral Raine wiping a canoe. He smiles and said "Admiral, check this out! I'm an oarsman, First Class!"

"Hey, it looks like all those weeks in the canoe simulator really paid off!" Raine said

"Uh, yessir, Admiral, sir!" Nigel said awkwardly, having to play along with Raine being undercover while here outside their sanctuary.

"Well, let's get you afloat!" Raine said smiling. They then show Nigel their Canoe ready to go on the water "Finest in the fleet."

"I'll take good care of her, sir!" Nigel said saluting.

"That lake isn't as peaceful or as harmless as she looks, mm-hmm…" Raine warns him. "Now don't take her out too far!" They head back inside.

"Oh no you don't!" Nelson is head and Nigel looks to see him and Pain messing with a fish. Guess he should deal with them first before heading out to Felicia's class.

Nigel apporches them but spots something behind the two bullies and asked, "What's that round thing up on the dock?"

"That thing?" Nelson asked pointing to what looked like some kind of old diving pod resembling a diving helmet"Oh man, let me tell you about that thing. That thing is…none of your stinking business."

"Alright, well, what are the chances that if I ask nicely, you two will stop messing with those poor fish?" Nigel asked.

"About as good as the chance that if you say one more freaking word to me about fish, the fire department's gonna have to Jaws of Life my fist out of your mouth!" Nelson said punching his hand.

"So, hang on, does that mean you will?" Nigel asked confused.

"I will punch you. That's what that means." Nelson told him.

"I am the Hideous Hulking Goldeen of Lake Oblongata!" A voice behind the bullies said and they see a floating Goldeen before them and they tremble in fear "I can breathe air and love to eat the brains of little boys and imps."

"Ahhhhhh!" Pain screams and flees as the Goldeen chases him while Nelson stood frozen.

Nigel smiles as he reagonized the voice, Violet used her invisibility to scare the bullies. He heads back to Tony and sees Violet was already there reappearing holding the Goldeen.

"That was amazing!" Tony said to Violet smiling.

"Thanks!" Violet said blushing a bit.

"You're pretty amazing too." Tony admits with a smile.

The two smile at each other and hold hands. Knowing what this means Nigel decided to leave the two alone. He goes to his canoe and rows it with his mental powers.

Nigel gasps as he sees class was already in session and Felicia was levitating in a meditating position. "There she is!" he said amazed.

"And there you are darling!" Felicia said not opening her eyes but aware of Nigel's presence. "Don't worry, I got in contact with your father, and he's going to be here tomorrow to pick you up!"

"My…father?" Nigel said worried out of his entire family, his father was the strictist about the no psychic's thing.

"Ooh, got to go! The race is starting!" Felicia said.

Nigel shakes his head and sees Rachel was also here and approaches her "Rachel!"

Rachel comes out of it and looks at him saying "Oh, hey Nigel. Listen, I made you something. It's kind of stupid…" She begins pulling out a friendship bracelet.

"They stole DJ's brains!" Nigel told her

"No, he's just like that." Rachel said shaking her head.

"I had a nightmare where this mad scientist robot guy said he was going to take them out and…" Nigel begins to explain

Rachel's eyes widen and she stands and asked "Was he a blue creepy looking robot with a green dome head and claw like hands holding what appears to be some kind of gun?"

"Hey! That's MY nightmare!" Nigel points out.

"So, it's not just me…" Rachel said thinking.

"But how? And why all the meat?" Nigel asked confused.

"I don't know, but I think it's time I find out where this is coming from." Rachel said determined as she gets into her canoe "Let's rendezvous tonight at the old boathouse for debriefing."

"This is so cool." Nigel said excited it felt like a real Psychonauts mission.

"Yeah, it feels like that time in 'True Psychic Tales' 314 where…" Rachel said equally excited but stops and said embarrassed "Shut up!" She then sails away.

Nigel shakes his head and approaches Felicia, after all he had to finish the Brain Tumbler experiment so he knows what he and Rachel will be dealing with and for that he needed Felicia to training him, so he said "Agent Felicia! I have been ordered to report here for Levitation training! I've already done Sarge's obstacle course, and Wiz showed me how to shoot!"

"You know I'd expect this sort of recklessness from Sarge, but Wiz?" Felicia said surprised.

"Agent Wiz said you were the most powerful levitator the Psychonauts had." Nigel said smiling.

"Wiz said that? Really? I didn't know he noticed…" Felicia said touched by those words.

"Well, you know, I only work with the best teachers." Nigel said nodding.

"Flirt! Okay, let's party!" Felicia said smiling.

She then mentally opens the blue door on her forehead. Nigel sorts his shades and then he mental consciousness is pulled into Felicia's head.

Well time to learn how to Levitate which will be next time.
