Time to enter the asylum and begin the mission to save everyone's brains

DM77's Psychonauts Chapter 19

Thorney Tower Residents

Nigel walks through the gate of Thorney Tower Asylum after helping Ralph with his inner troubles, least he hopes he did as he sees Ralph standing at the entrance of the asylum holding a Molotov preparing to throw but not throwing it yet.

"Guess I have until he is mentally prepared to throw it." Nigel said thinking.

As Nigel looks around the courtyard he sees near the gate a jar filled with green liquid but what as in it was a brain. On the Jar was a photo of Kristoff.

Nigel smashes the jar and picks it up "Kristoff's brain? How did this one get out of the ice sled?" He puts it into a special area of his backpack "Yes! I got a brain!"

Raine's head then comes out of Nigel's ear and said "Finally! Now your ears won't whistle so much when the wind blows! Ha ha!"

"No, I meant I recovered a stolen brain." Nigel said annoyed.

"Oh, I know what you meant." Raine said rolling their eyes "Sheesh. You and Wiz no sense of humour when you're on a mission, hmm? Well, are you going to come back here so we can recranialize that noodle while it's still al dente?"

"In a bit, first see if I can find anymore nearby." Nigel said and Raine nods going back into his head. He looks around and finds a jar near the building with Sabrina's photo so he smashes it to get the brain "Don't worry Sabrina. I'll put this one right next to Chloe's. Well…when I find it."

He sees an area to the side blocked off and smashes through the wooden barricade and sees a greenhouse and near it a jar with Chloe's picture. So he smashes it to get her brain.

"Chloe's brain. You know, I hate to say it, but it IS better groomed than the rest of the brains." Nigel said before putting it into his bag.

With three brains he decided to head back and uses the bacon to summon Raine and have them teleport them back to HQ.

Back at HQ Nigel goes to see Raine with the three brains.

"Well, the good thing about you finding those kids' brains besides the whole thinking and feeling they'll be able to do now is that they will be adding their subconscious mental attention to your quest, and their energy will increase your mental health potential!" Raine explained to Nigel smiling.

"That sounds great, but is the surgery going to be dangerous?" Nigel asked them.

"Nothing's dangerous when you have the right tools." Raine told him and pulls out a funnel "Messy yes, but not dangerous."

As Raine worked on recanalizing the kids brains, Nigel would explain to them one by one what is going on. The first was Chloe.

"…And so long story short we're hoping for the best but preparing for the worst." Nigel said finishing up.

"Well, there's only one thing that can make this better: pedicure, see ya." Chloe said and leaves.

The next was Sabrina as Nigel said "…and so that is why, even though she is a girl, and we are good friends, she is not, technically, my 'girlfriend.'"

"Well, I can tell you one thing. My dad is NEVER going to send me to this camp again." Sabrina said and looks around "Where's Chloe? Never mind. I'll find her." She then leaves

And finally it was Kristoff as Nigel says to him "…And that is why we need your help more than anybody's."

"Well shut my mouth. I best go and patrol the living quarters, keep everybody safe." Kristoff said thinking "Say, is my pal Flash Sentry walking around yet?"

"Not yet, but soon when I find his brain." Nigel told him.

"I just hope he forgives me for acting like such a dang fool" Kiristoff said as he leaves.

With all the brains so far gathered return Nigel allows Raine to teleport him back to the field.

Nigel once back decides to use Clearvoyance to see if he can see where Rachel is using her friendship bracelet. It works and he sees here strapped to a chair in a high point of the tower she also had some kind of helmet on.

"Rachel…" Nigel said worried.

Dr. Nefarious appears and he said "Well, I've reviewed your chart, little girl. And the bad news is, we're going to have to remove your brain…strap it into an armoured battle tank and make it shoot down innocent civilians with its concentrated psychic death beam!"

"I'm going to kill you so much." Rachel said glaring at him.

"The good news is that your insurance is going to cover the whole thing, so…" Nefarious said and looks around as smoke seems to form "Heyyy, is it getting warm in here?"

"No, I'm just trying to set you on fire through this stupid hat!" Rachel told him.

"What a delightfully mean little brain you have. Just what we want!" Nefarious said chuckling as he pulls out his pepper gun "Here, do me a favor. Tell me if you thing this smells like…your DOOM! Heh heh." He laughs and sprays pepper at her.

Rachel takes a deep snotty breath and sniffs before saying "I can't smell anything."

"Curses!" Nefarious said annoyed as Rachel laughs "You're a stubborn little ball of phlegm, ain't you? Well that head cold won't protect you forever, little girl squishee, and when it's gone you'll be sneezing a different tune! A tune in the key of…BRAINS! HAHAHA!" He laughs as he leaves.

Nigel knew he had to get up their quick so he puts the bracelet away and goes into the green house where he sees a woman with blonde hair in a blue dress standing under a moonlight like it was a spot light and bowing. She was known as Sally Stageplay

"Thank you, all of you!" She said to the plants made to look like faces "You make a girl so happy!"

Nigel sees nearby a blue trophy that resembled a claw but ignores it and sees a way into the Asylum's courtyard and goes in.

Nigel enters and looks around and sees two figures there, the first was a white and red robot figure who was wearing a blue straitjacket and playing with things with his feet like they were game pieces. He was Ratchet.

The other was a thin lko0oking man with short black hair and glasses, however they lenses were cracked so they weren't fully working in making him see well, in a asylum scrubs guarding a lift and watching Ratchet amused, He was Denzel Croker.

"Attack!" Ratchet said in a sort of regal voice but then said panicked in a normal voice "No, wait! Don't listen to him! Retreat!" He then said in the regal voice "Shut up you idiot! The battle is ours! The Rangers are one the run! This is our moment of victory!"

"Oh be quiet you insane bot" Croker said to Ratchet.

"The battle can't be won. We're going to lose it." Ratchet said worried.

"Oh I'm afraid you lost it years ago, Ratchet." Croker said smirking "Now pipe down over there. I am the orderly and I run a quiet, peaceful insane asylum one free of anyone with FAIRY GOD PARENT!" He does some insane body movements saying those last three words. "Understand?"

[Authur Note:- I just had to get at least one in here of Croker doing his thing]

"Ahhhhhhh!" A voice cried out and from one of the rooms a painting is thrown out.

"Oh now, see? You've disrupted Mr. Fuerte's art therapy session." Croker said shaking his head.

"Haha! The reinforcements have arrived!" Ratchet said in his regal accent."

"Whatever." Croker said rolling his eyes.

"Um hi." Nigel said approaching Croker.

"Oh, greetings Dr. Nefarious." Croker said smiling "Up to the secret laboratory then, is it?" He then gets a suspicious look "One moment…You're not Dr. Nefarious! My eyesight might be bad and my glasses aren't helping, but I would recognize the mad robot scientist anywhere." We see from Croker's POV that Nigel is slightly blurey.

"He's got a stone cold metal face a man doesn't easily forget…" Croker explained to Nigel "He's body just as metallic and blue as the ocean…and of course his hands are nothing but gleaming metal claws. So if I'm not mistaken, you're not Dr. Nefarious, and you don't pay my salary so kindly back away from my elevator and die. Thank you sir."

Nigel will have to build up a disguise but decides to look around to see if there were any other brain jars. Their were as he found one with Baljeet's picture. He smashes it and claims the brain "Better give Baljeet's brain to Buford ASAP so he can protect it."

He finds another with Lisa's picture and claims it and said confused "How Lisa sneezed this one though that helmet, we'll never know." He then found a third jar with Flash Sentry's picture and claims it saying "Flash Sentry, how you doing?"

As he continues to search he enters the room the painting was thrown from he finds a muscled bald man wearing a luchador outfit with sumbols of a lighting bolt, venom tank, blue ovel and a tiger on it. He was making a card tower. He was El Toro Fuerte. His leg was also chained

Nigel sees a painting next to him of Dr. Nefarious and so he asked him "What are you paining there?"

El Toro surprised began to tell him "That is my patron, my psychiatrist, my warden."

"Looks like Dr. Nefarious to me." Nigel said looking at the painting. "Is he the one who chained you up?"

"The doctor won't let me go until I complete my treatment." El Toro explained.

"So why don't you just finish the painting and go home?" Nigel asked.

"Why…don't I…just…" El Toro said, he then grabs a paint brush and hesitates to paint but then does it.

"Wow! See, sometimes you just have to…" Nigel said smiling but then sees that El Toro painted a handsome bull fighter battling a bull in armor and a red cape. "Huh. You painted a bullfight over the doctor's face. Why a bull fight? Huh? Huh El Toro? Why do you…"

"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!" El Toro screams out in anger "EVERY TIME! Every time it is the same! The matador! The bull! How I despise you both! But my hands…won't let you go." He throws that painting away and replaces it with a blank canvas "That is why I am here, chained in more that you can see."

"A prisoner of art." Nigel deduces thinking

"A prisoner of art." El Toro said nodding.

"Well, I'm going downstairs, you good?" Nigel asked him

"I'm good." El Toro said nodding.

Nigel leaves and finds the final brain jar in a basket with Violet's picture and he claims it "I'm surprised Violet's brian doesn't go invisible when I get close to it."

With that he heads back to HQ to turn in the brains.

Once then Nigel let Raine return the brains to their owners and one by one the young Psychonaut in training tells his campmates what is happening.

The first was Baljeet, as Nigel finishes up said "…so, as you can imagine, we are in some bad trouble."

"Hmmm, sounds like it's time something bad happened to Sarge." Baljeet said thinking.

"Well, let me tell you what our plan is…" Nigel began to say.

"Please, you have your plan. I have mine." Baljeet said to him

"But…" Nigel said to that

"Say no more." Baljeet said and leaves.

The next was Lisa as Nigel just says "…The end!"

"Okay, here's the plan." Lisa said, "I'm going to get on Sarge's radio, and call for help."

"See, now that's an excellent plan!" Nigel said smiling "Why can't everyone be so helpful?"

"Yeah, I modified the antenna so now it broadcasts straight to outer space!" Lisa said nodding

"Oh man." Nigel said sighing as Lisa leaves. We then come to him finishing up explaining it all to Violet and he said "…so, any questions?"

"Is Tony okay?" Violet asked him.

"Well, hell be fully brained soon when I find his, I promise." Nigel told her.

"When he comes out, tell him I'm waiting for him down by the docks, okay?" Violet said to him.

"Hey, do you want to help us save the…" Nigel began but Violet just turns invisible. "Typical." He then goes on to tell Flash Sentry everything and finishes saying "…And that's why finding your brain in particular was my highest priority."

"You know, I'll bet if Kristoff wasn't so distracted, this wouldn't have happened." Flash Sentry points out "He's probably with that prissy little snowdrop right now."

"No, actually I think her minds on other things right now." Nigel said thinking.

"Hm. Well maybe I'll go see what's up." Flash Sentry said "One of us at least should be guarding the sleeping quarters." He then leaves and no doubt make up with his best friend.

With that done Nigel decides to head out back into the field. He had to begin working on getting a disguise ready to trick Croker. But as he thinks of it Sally, Ratchet and El Toro might have one of each item he needs.

7 brains reclaimed and back in their heads, a lot more to go but the rest have to be in the higher floors so Nigel has to get to work with a disguise.
