Gabi decided she would show up on the plane to surprise Josh so she didn't tell him she was coming.
She downed a glass of champagne and put on a fresh layer of sparkly lip gloss in preparation for all the kissing she knew they were about to do.
She missed Josh's mouth on hers. She had never felt anything like it. She longed to see that desirous look in his eyes when those kisses turned passionate, and feel the electricity that shot through her whole body when she was holding onto him for dear life when he kissed her that deeply.
She took a deep breath and made her way into first class. "Here goes everything"
She stopped abruptly when she spotted Dr. Rounds standing in front of his aisle.
Josh took his seat, sighing heavily at the empty seat next to him that he had hoped Gabi would occupy.
He had held onto the hope that she would show up and they could make everything right. But she didn't come, or call, or text, nothing to give him any hope.
He couldn't escape the sinking feeling that he had screwed everything up too badly this time and it just might be the end of them forever.
He was exhausted in every way, mentally, physically and emotionally. He accepted the champagne offered by the flight attendant and downed it quickly before requesting something stronger.
He caught sight of someone standing at his aisle. He looked up to see Dr. Rounds standing there.
"Dr. Rounds? What are you doing here?" he asked, dumbfounded.
"Coming with you to Australia" she said excitedly.
He looked at her quizzically.
"Oh God, this was a terrible idea" she said turning to go.
She was stopped by the flight attendant who said it was too late to get off the plane as the door was closed.
She sat down beside Josh. "I'm sorry. I just couldn't stop thinking about that kiss" she started but he cut her off
"That kiss might have ruined my life, I had to tell Gabi, you know the girl YOU were supposed to be helping me get better to be with he said angrily.
"And she stormed out and won't talk to me. I even invited her on this trip but she didn't show. We might be over for good" he said looking broken.
"I feel awful" she said. "Do you want to talk about it?" she asked.
He stared at her, contemplating. Knowing he could use someone to talk to but also that she was the cause of his distress.
"I guess we're stuck on this plane together for at least five and a half hours when we get to Hawaii" he said.
"That's the spirit" she said. "Come on lets get another drink or make love in the bathroom" she added.
"What?" Josh said, stopping in his tracks.
"Kidding" she laughed. "Just trying to lighten the mood, therapy tactic to get you to relax" she said.
He nodded skeptically.
Gabi braved another look and saw Dr. Rounds and Josh having a drink and talking and her hand was on his knee.
"I guess this doesn't mean anything either, just like that kiss" she muttered to herself, as tears filled her eyes.
She returned to her seat and called Sofia, telling the story through her sobbing.
"What am I going to do now? I thought I was going to be with Josh in Australia. How am I going to get home?"
"Just get off in Hawaii" Sofia told her.
"Then what?" I don't have enough money for a ticket home. I'm stranded, all alone, like I will be forever because Josh loves his stupid therapist and not me" she wailed.
The man seated in front of her turned and said he might be able to help.
Gabi got off the phone with Sofia as they were about to take off and he came and sat beside her and introduced himself as Adam.
"I overheard your situation, sorry about that by the way. Well I have my own, I was supposed to get married yesterday but my fiancée Amanda backed out and now I'm going on my honeymoon to Hawaii by myself" he frowned.
"That is so sad" Gabi cried "But at least you almost got married. My guy couldn't kiss me, but he doesn't seem to have that problem with other women"
"Yeah, I don't know if its better to get dumped at tha altar, but anyway my Fiancée planned the honeymoon and I just discovered the resort is couples only, so I wont be able to stay unless I find a partner, that's where you come in" he said.
Gabi scrunched up her face "We just met and you want me to come on a romantic couples trip with you?"
"No, I mean yes but not for sex. I just thought we could hang out in our misery together and we would both have a place to stay, and I'll get you a plane ticket home afterward, the resort is incredible and all inclusive, and maybe we'll even get our minds off our exes as a bonus." He said
An idea came to Gabi "And maybe take revenge pictures we can post to social media to make them jealous and see what they're missing?" she schemed in typical Gabi fashion.
"Sure" he agreed readily.
"Ok deal" she said shaking his hand.
When they went to get off the plane in Hawaii, Dr Rounds saw her.
"Oh look Gabi is here" she said.
Josh turned to look.
She realized what she had said and turned him away. "Gabi is here in your mind and you need to take a break from thinking about her. You've been so consumed with it for weeks, you need to clear your head, we call it an emotional vacation"
"How would that help get her back?" he asked confused.
"It wont" she said, shaking her head. He stared at her confused.
"I mean it wont happen overnight, lets just focus on this trip and your award and try to have fun, then things might become clearer after you've relieved your stress by making love to me non stop"
"What is going on?" he asked, looking at her quizzically.
"This is fun" she laughed
They got to Australia and she went to the award event with him and took pictures of him.
"My god Josh you are one photogenic man"
He grinned playfully "The camera does love me"
"So do I" she said.
He gave her a perplexed look.
"These pictures are great, you should post them" she said handing him his phone back.
He opened Instagram and his smile immediately disappeared from his face. His heart dropped at seeing Gabi in another man's arms, in a hotel, at the beach.
"What's wrong?" she asked, seeing the look on his face.
"Gabi is posting pics with some guy, who is this guy?" he wondered out loud. "It's only been 2 days since she found out about the kiss, is she on a trip with him? What is happening?" he asked taken aback.
"That's what I thought when I saw her get off the plane with him, she moves fast, see you dodged a bullet" she said encouragingly.
He stared at her and put his hand out with his index finger up.
"Back up. You saw Gabi on our plane?"
"Ok yes" she admitted sheepishly.
"Why didn't you tell me?" he asked gesticulating wildly with his arms. "She must have seen us and thought we were together. Oh my God. I've got to find her" he said panicked.
"You're supposed to be on a vacation from her, you said you wanted a break" she said.
"No I didn't. You said that!" He said accusingly. "I don't want to be apart from her ever." He said without thinking about it
The smile returned to his face. "Wow, did you hear that? I want to be with her. I'm ready"
"Yep. All part of my plan all along. Congratulations Josh" she said feigning sincerity.
He nodded. "So I'm gonna go" he said jerking his thumb behind him before hurrying back to his room to pack and catch the first flight to Hawaii.
He scrolled through her posts, desperately hoping this was another Gabi scheme and that she didn't have any interest in her vacation partner.
"Just hold on Gabi, I'm coming" he said to himself.
To make sure she knew he was thinking of her, he texted her "I miss you"
Gabi stared at the text she had woken up to, her eyes frozen on the screen, initially thinking it was a dream.
"Whatcha doin?" Adam asked, coming back to the room with coffees.
"I got a text from Josh, he says he misses me" she smiled.
"That's great, so the plan is working, well for you at least" he frowned.
"Hey, give it time, and by the way you're awesome so if she doesn't come running back to you that's her loss" Gabi said comfortingly.
"Thanks Gabi. I'm really glad I fake married you" he grinned.
"Me too, however this plays out, I've actually had fun instead of sitting around crying my eyes out so thank you,"
There was a knock at the door. Gabi answered it.
"Gabi?" the woman asked.
"Actually its Mrs. Foley" she corrected.
"Uh-oh" Adam said, at the sight of Amanda.
Gabi turned slightly to him and knew by the look on his face that this was his fiancée.
"Oh no" she said. She didn't have time to duck the punch that came her way.
Adam jumped up and ran over.
"You punched me in the frickin face!" Gabi shouted, touching her tender cheek.
"Amanda, its not what it looks like" Adam said.
Gabi left to let Adam explain. She got ice for her swollen face and went to the bar for drinks with Yolanda.
"Girl what happened to your face?' she asked.
"Adam's fiancée showed up and punched me" she frowned.
"Who would ever want to punch you?" she asked, surprised .
"I totally get why she hit me. She loves him and came here to get him back. I wish Josh would fight for me like that. When you love someone you just know. How hard is it to say I want to be with you? Maybe I should have punched Dr. Rounds on that plane" she frowned the winced at the pain it caused moving her face.
Yolanda saw Josh walk in the lobby and did a double take. She smiled happily and covered her mouth with her hand.
"What are you doi…ng" she said stopping mid sentence when she heard Josh's voice say her name.
"Josh" she said in total disbelief that he was standing in front of her.
