November 6, 2024
The sun is just beginning to rise over the town of Exclamation. The thinking docks were empty except for a single person who had been sitting there for over an hour.
Abe Lincoln, due to being frozen for two decades, ended up voting for the first time in his life. There was a unique feeling of passion that he found it hard to describe.
However, despite everything that had happened with him, it became clear late in the night that the results weren't going to be what he hoped.
After an initial feeling of shock, something else overtook him. It was something that he never thought he would be feeling after receiving the news that the Democratic party would lose.
He then hears footsteps coming up behind him. He then turns around to see Amerigo Vespucci look down at him. The sorrowful look on his face was more than enough to tell him everything.
"Are… you okay, buddy?" He asks his friend. "Is there… anything I can do for you?"
Abe sighs as he looks down while shaking his head. "I'm not okay."
What he did next was completely unexpected for Amerigo. He raised his head up and gave him what he could only decribe as the most genuine smile anybody has ever given him.
What Abe is feeling right now is a mild sense of euphoria. Despite the fact that his candidate lost, he doesn't feel any anger or disgust against anybody in particular.
And that includes the one who has won the presidential race.
It's not America's fault that he backed the losing candidate. America is not to blame.
The Presidential Election of 1860 is, without question, the most divisive event in the nation's history. After it had concluded, a bunch of guys got together and agreed that the reason why they lost was not because their candidate failed, but their country did. It was that decision that fueled the secession of eleven states from the union. (It's worth noting that four slave owning states didn't seceed. Pros and cons were weighed and the pros outweigh the cons.)
Today, in 2024, Abraham Lincoln doesn't feel like he's at the end of his life. Excuse him for sounding cliche, but for him, he's experiencing a new beginning.
Without breaking eye contact, he slowly stood up. "But you don't have to do anything, buddy. We're just going to sit back and enjoy the show!"
He then balls his hands into fists before immediately starting to mimic a signature dance move he's seen the now president-elect perform once or twice. It was just stupid enough to be entertaining to watch.
Amerigo couldn't help but laugh. "Haha! Oh man… That dance really is funny. Let me try."
He then goes on to copy what he's seeing. They continue on like this for a while before heading back to their own homes. Wide smiles can be seen on both their faces.
Not only do they have a busy day ahead of them, the next four years are going to be interesting to say the least.
