I don't own RWBY or Call of Cthulhu
On unnamed island, April 2nd 1925, an hour after sunrise
3rd POV
The scene opens up on the camp at the base of the mountain. Many tents were left in tatters, as if someone had ripped and tore through the camp. Blood splattered the tattered tarps, cots, tables, and chests overturned, and footprints in the dust. Bare and shoed feet. As an ominous feeling over hanged over the scene. Till it was interrupted by Ren, Juliet, and Olof entering the camp. They were horrified by what they saw, despite no bodies within the camp.
As they moved on through Juliet turned to Olof before asking, "Do you think they got away?"
"Hmm, I'd like to believe they did… but we were lucky to escape thanks to Ren. I don't like the chances they had." Olof said morbidly as he notices a blood stain cot.
Juliet gives a solemn and saddened nod. As much as she wished, the three may be the only survivors outside the beach crew. Despite the feeling of dread the two followed Ren to the strange doorway. Like in the slide show on the beach. They marvel at the exquisite detail of the door. Heliographic that can be mistaken Myan or Inca. Maybe even Querandi's. However, there were added symbols that neither of the two have ever seen. It was unseen in any study within the region. However Ren recognize the symbols and knew that they can never mean anything good. At the center there seems to be something missing. It was idol shape, and it didn't take too long for anyone to figure out what was missing. Juliet reached into her bag and retrieved the idol from the satchel she had saved from the camp.
Overlooking the magnificent details of it she was hesitant to put the idol in place. But with some encouragement from Ren, Juliet places the idol inside. The moment she pops the idol in the entire gateway gave way. A rumbling can be heard as the doors slowly open. As it does the air from within hits there noses like a title wave. A decaying, musty odor with the hint of death blew up there noses. As the reek of old tombs settled upon there senses, they can see a tunnel heading downwards to the base of the mountain. Lining the walls, roof, and floors were innumerable number of cobwebs so thick they would require machetes to cut throw. Looking on the three stood there for a few moments before finally Ren takes the first step. He was stopped before taking the second step.
"Whoa, what are you thinking?" Olof asked as he held Ren back.
"Going down into the hole." Ren answers simply.
"Are you mad?! Forgetting the fact that you have no light sources and those thing that attacked us could be down there." Juliet explains in a panic.
"Yes, and if anyone survived last nights attack could have been taken down there." Ren added. Juliet opens her mouth to argue but Olof interrupted her.
"He's right." Olof said as he retrieves two sticks and tears off the fabric from the tent. "I'm not sure what attacked us, but if I were in these poor lads' shoes I wouldn't want to be left behind. Sides nights coming and if we start now, we wouldn't be able to make it back to shore. And I rather not go out like those Spaniards."
"Um… U… You, two must be mad." Juliet mutters as Olof tries to find something to ignite the two makeshift torches, however Ren got that covered with a single fire dust round. Holding two torches in hand Olof hands one over to Juliet.
"Him, maybe. But If my son is down there I would go to the lowest depts of Niflheim for him." Olof said as he walks ahead of Ren to burn the cobwebs. Ren followed as well, with his weapons a the ready.
Juliet stood there for a few moments before letting out a small sigh and following the two, muttering as she descended, "I'm going to die here."
The cobwebs got thicker the deeper they went, resulting in Ren taking the lead. Cutting his way through the webs. They soon came upon a tunnel unlike anything they had ever seen. It was covered in multiple murals that were written in… Russian? Or something similar to the Russian language. It depicts snow top mountains, northern humpbacks in the waters, and people sacrificing others to an unknow god at the center of a web. However the details got muddy when the land broke away to form an island, sailing south along the current.
As Juliet tried to decipher the strange heliographies Ren and Olof came upon something peculiar. Imbedded into the wall was a Japanese junk. How it got there was the question.
"What in all seven hell's did we walk through?" Olof asked as he stares deeply into a fossilized skull embedded into the walls of the ship.
"Like you said before. You would go to the lowest depts of Niflheim for him. Welcome to the realm ruled by Hel." Ren said sarcastically as he explored the nearby tunnels. Olof turns back to the dead man's focalized bones. As horrific as that statement was, he had a feeling that the kid was right.
The two then proceed down one of the many tunnels, coming across even more cobwebs. It was like walking through the jungle of Harpagonella. The webs stuck to there clothes, hair, and skin. Some got so stuck Ren would need to spend minutes cutting them out. After what felt like hours of breaking there way through, they came to a den. It was like looking up from the center of a volcano. Looking up for a mile, there was an innumerable and disturbing number of massive cocoons. Some had bones sticking out, they were in different stages of decay. Not only that, but the clothes worn by the few bodies sticking out were all dated. The oldest one that was moments away from snapping free from the wall was that of caveman with a Neanderthal skull.
"Vid Guds Skägg och Djävulens Arsle…" Olof cursed as he rubs his balding head in fright.
"You can say that again." Juliet remarks as she inspects the bones of a long dead Mayan warrior. Mummified to the wall.
As the two looked around, Ren noticed something. A fedora on the ground, with the reporter ticketed stuck in the bowler hat. Picking it up Ren recognize the hat. Belonging to the reporter he talked to. Looking up he see's on freshly inked cocoon before him. Instinctually, Ren quickly got to work, cutting and hacking away before a body fell out. He catches the body but the camera on him fell with a hard whack. Echoing the sound all around them. The two turned and approached Ren and the body on the ground. All while unaware of something slowly moving down from the walls.
"My god, is that Thomas White?" Juliet asked as Ren inspects the reporter. He wasn't moving an his eyes were wide open and unblinking. Nervously she asked, "Is he…"
"Dead? No. But he was injected with strong dosage of sphingomyelinase-D." Ren explains earning a raised brow from both Juliet and Olof. "A nerve toxin. Commonly found in spiders but this is a rare version. One that can be removed if I had the right ingredients."
Ren looks around for a few moments before spotting a cocoon with a conquistador sticking out of it. He raced over and with much more ease ripped it open revealing a decaying mummy inside. Tarantula size spiders crawling all over it when Ren retrieves a bottle of rum opening the cork bottle the rum had a foul odder but it will have to do. Racing back he forced the ancient bottle to his throat, and let the liquor down his throat.
"What are you doing?" Olof asked.
"The toxins despite being able to paralyze a man is surprisingly weak. Get something strong like rum down there throat and it will dissolve the venoms binding agent." Ren explains earning a new round of raised eye brows. "(Sigh) alcohol will get them up and moving again."
"Oh." Olof said as Ren rolls his eyes.
"Just, get the rest out of there cocoons. We should try and save as many as we can before whatever put them here comes back." Ren said as he hands Juliet and Olof both his weapons. Olof and Juliet looked at one another and with a nod did what he asked.
The two got to work freeing three people in the span of ten minutes. As Olof sets a petrified Whitley on the ground, Juliet struggled with the fourth. The webs on these cocoons were relatively fresh and proved to be difficult to cut, even for the sharpen blades of Stormflower. As she struggles Ren managed to revitalize Thomas. He was agony, and having rotting rum shoved down his throat didn't help either. He coughed and groan in pure agony as if cotton balls made of sandpaper was stuffed down his throat. As he struggles to speak Ren leaned over him.
"It's alright been in your situation before. It'll pass." Ren said comfortingly as he retrieves a cantina of water from Thomas belongings. As he pours the cooling water down Thomas throat, Thomas looks up to see the haunting visage of something crawling down towards them.
"Baaaaahhhhhinnnssssjeeeeewwwwww" Thomas struggled to say with his lips slanting.
"What?" Ren asked as his ears begin to twitch. His eyes widen when the unknown stranger leapt from the wall.
Grabbing Thomas he pulled him to the side just missing the makeshift spear plunging into the cobblestone ground. Hearing the sound Olof and Juliet turned around to see one of the natives was trying to stick Ren with a spear made from old ship parts.
"Get away from him!" Olof shouts as he points Rens gun at the native.
Ren tried to shout to Olof not but when he pulled the trigger, the gun flew out of his hands. He had never handled a fully automatic weapon before, let alone any guns for that matter. The bullets sprayed and nearly hit Ren and Thomas. The native wasn't hit by any stray bullet, but had turn it's attention to them. Revealing it's incidious face to the two. Dressed in a raggedy nunnery outfit, the pale scale gave a corpse like illusion, and her mouth. My god… it had cracked, splinted into multiple piece to the point that if not for the exposed jaw and tendons someone could have mistaken it for fingers.
"Vid Guds Skägg och Djävulens Arsle…" Olof mutters in pure shock. The creature let's out a horrific howl before spitting something from her mouth. If not for Juliet pulling him to the ground, Olof would have been hit by that volatile substance.
"Don't let it spit!" Ren shouted as he kicks the creature over the back of its head. "That stuff will burn your skin!"
He then went for another aura enhanced kick, but the native jumped over him with super human like agility. It then tried to stab Ren in the back with it's spear. However Ren easily evaded even managing to knock it on it's feet. Turning quickly he shouted for Juliet to toss him his other gun. She did but over threw it, landing by Thomas. It nearly pinned his nose to the floor had he not squirmed out of the way by an inch. Ren gives a bit of a disappointed glair when he was hit with the back end of the spear by the native. On the ground the native lunges on top of him. She was about to shove the spear into him when Olof came running with an Aztec Macuahuitl. He swatted the native across the face sending her flying back before delivering a heavy blow to the back of her head. Falling to her knees he proceeded to swat over, and over again. He was about to deal the finishing blow when her back burst open, exposing her rib cage as it folds upwards. A protein like white substance covered Olof as he falls back. Unable to move as the stuff sticked to the ground. The creature, bleeding dark rotting blood from the back of it's head slowly stood up as it's jaws open wide. It lunges towards him when a burst of two guns cut her down.
Ren had retrieved his guns and begin unloading three rounds at a time. One shot, two shot, three shot, four shot, five shot, the creature took three rounds per shot to the chest, arm, and head. Each time the creature took a round it tried to stand up. As Ren unloaded the fifth shot there was so many holes in the girl, she could hardly stand. As it croaked in agony Ren took ahold of the spear from the ground before empaling her through the heart. It fell to the ground. Writhing in agony before it's arms stiffens upwards. Leaving a morbid scene.
"Huff, huff, huff, huff, huff, huff, huff… Atlach-Nacha spawn… has to be… but why so human?" Ren mutters aloud after catching his breath. He then quickly went to Olof who was struggling to break free from the ground. As Ren struggles to cut Olof free, Juliet approaches him.
"I'm sorry, but what gods name is Atlach-Nacha!" Juliet said as her shrieking echoed inside. That echo… awakening more of the natives who slept above.
"Why don't you scream a little louder. I'm sure more of her sisters didn't hear you on the other side of the island." Ren remarks coldly.
"More of them?" Olof asked as he is freed from the ground. "Boy, what are you not telling us?"
Ren opens his mouth about to explain when Thomas interrupted them. "I'vvvv sovvvvvvrrrryyyyy bbbbbbbbuuuuuuuu mmmmmmmmmoooooooorrrrrr."
His left side of his face was completely numb as many parts of his body. Pointing upwards with a shaking finger the three looked up to see five more natives. Wearing a mixture of south American tribal to relatively modern day chilian clothing. Seeing the horror Ren quickly loads new rounds into Stormflower.
"Quickly revive the others. I'll see if I can hold them off!" Ren shouted as he finishes reloading and tosses Olof the bottle of terribly age Rum. Ren fired off shots hitting one native a raggedy kimono Olof and Juliet quickly got to work freeing the remaining captives and pouring the terrible alcohol to their lips.
Ren fired off a few more shots but the more he shot the more that came. Breaking free from cocoons or crawling out of the wall. What was original ten was now forty, growing till fifty, now a hundred. Scouring down the side of the walls like insects. Olof had just managed to freed the seventh person when one dressed in a torn and raggedy chumash tribal ware. The woman hisses before leaping onto Olof with a decaying stone tomahawk it leapt up and onto him. Olof struggles to get the crazed native off him. As he struggles he can see the natives crawling down to the seventh expeditionary. Pinned he could only watch in horror as the natives toppled over him. Spraying the acidic bio over his body. A faint muffle scream can be heard as the creatures sucked his painfully melting flesh. Horrified Olof found the strength to push her off just as she made a regurgitating noise. It spat at Olof who avoided it.
Ren seeing that the nest was awaken quickly called out to the group to cut their losses and head down a nearby tunnel. The few members that could stand, numbly raced towards Ren. The rest were assisted by Olof and Juliet. Group of nine struggled down the dark tunnel. In the confusion Juliet had dropped her torch and Olof's was slowly burning out. Soon they would be in the dark, with the natives close on there tales. As the they slowly made there way, the webs on the walls, ceiling, and the floor got stickier and thicker the father they went. It was so bad, few had to ditch there shoes. That's when they came upon something. A light not to far in the distance. With nowhere to go they head down into the tunnel. There they came upon a river of magnum. Seems the mountain was actually a long-dormant volcano.
Overhanging the heated river of infernal was a strange and ominous pyramid. Held up buy an oversize spiders web, with an unfathomable amount of strings wrapped around it like a present. The pyramid itself was made up of some metal that shines like gold but doesn't melt over the heat. The few slivers showing through the web revealed more of those heliographs. Upon seeing that, Ren's eyes widen in horror as memories flooded his mind. Memories of everything he had seen within the Dreamlands. He was shaken out of this when Thomas grabbed him.
"Doovvvv stofff!" Thomas shouted as he grabs Ren by the shoulder and trudges towards the pyramid.
"Wait, WAIT! We shouldn't go in!" Ren tried to warn. However the moment he did, more of the natives dropped down from the ceiling landing on two unfortunate members of the expeditionary were grabbed. All they could do was scream as they were dragged crookedly through narrow gaps in the wall.
"Little to late for that!" Olof shouts as he books it for the Pyramid. Ren Reluctantly followed, curing under his breath how this was a 'very, bad, idea'.
They climbed up a stone staircase leading to the pyramid. The natives following behind them closely. Throwing spears and rocks but daring to take a single step onto the stone. Quickly using the hesitation, Olof shouted for the men to quickly push the gold like gates close. They struggled but managed to do so.
Inside the group had only moments, to catch there breath… when Juliet let's out a ghastly blood curdling scream. The seven remaining turned and what they saw would haunt them. The room was silent in horror. Before them was… god. Untold number of victims. All woman. They hung from there legs and arms by spider webs. Naked and exposed. There belly's burst open as if something crawled out of them. A few members recognize the more recent one's. Some where even traveling with them. All looked like they were still alive when it happened. Those who were long dead, had there bones unceremoniously dumped on a large stock pile of treasure. Golden idols, Spanish doubloon, Japanese Ryo and other loot pulled from the many victims who had died here. Such a hoard was tainted that not one stepped close to it. As they stared on at the horrors, Ren was the first to break free from the shock.
He approaches Olof, and whispers; "We can't stay here long. What ever got those things outside terrified it will return."
"Vid Guds Skägg och Djävulens Arsle Boy! Can you give them a moment!" Olof said with anger in his tone.
"You and I know what could be hiding behind the corner. Or have you forgotten the island you found me on?" Ren remarks only to earn a punch to the face. This caught the attention of Thomas who quickly raced over to the two to break up the fight.
"Enoufff, ee've goff moor hoblemz." Thomas said as he pulls Olof off him.
"Tsk." Was Olof's only response. He consider himself a slow to temper kind of man. Quite mellow. But With everything that has happen Olof blew his fuse. He left Ren on the ground. Needing to vent. As he walked among the piles of treasure he noticed something. A leather bag with a red handmade notebook sticking out of it. He recognized the book. Something his wife had made for there son when he left. Quickly seizing it he opened it to the last pages.

(While I wish I could see her recovery I've been asked to go to Berlin to help with some translation of Chinese text. Suppose if it get's me of this damned Island then so be it. I'll be leaving this journal with a fellow colleague. She might be able to learn from our failures and stay alive long enough to add her own notes. If she doesn't respond… I hope to god she does, then I'll be loosing the book my mother made… boy will she be mad. Though She will probably be just as if not more if I didn't help out someone going into this special hell.)

(Though, I'm not sure how father would feel. His stories of adventures would fill my dreams when I was young, and they still do. But this one puzzle that this island holds... frightens me. So much I dare not wish to ever set foot on this island as long as I live. An unsolve puzzle... heh; Vid Guds Skägg och Djävulens Arsle. If dad had known he would just be as annoyed as I would. Hope that I can make him proud.)
As he reads the last page a single joyous tear Olof rub's the tears from his eyes. He was so happy that his son had left. He wasn't sure if he'd make it. But if he did he knew exactly where to go next. As pockets the journal a loud scream caught his attention. It was Juliet, again. He went over to where the scream came from. There the crowed of the remaining me stood still with absolute horror. Before them was one woman. Who didn't popped yet. Her belly had expanded like a balloon, with something crawling around within. But that wasn't the worst part. The woman in question was identified by Professor Whitley, as Cecilia Flug. Dr. Flug's wife; and she was very much alive.
Her eyes were rolled back, as she struggles to speak. Juliet was inspecting her when they flashed open, causing her to scream. The group looked on in horror, unaware of something crawling down from above. Something big, fat, and extremely hairy. As it drools a venomous green saliva, the view pulls away towards the face of Mrs. Flug, as she struggles to speak. The view slowly goes black as she utters the line.
"Please… Kill… Me."
Well… shit. Hello Everybody Wombag1786 here. Behind five homemade barricades and twenty piles of homemade incendiary rounds and in the remains of my burnt out studio. This chapter was difficult to write… mostly due to my arachnid phobia. I'd burned down the studio five times in the making of this chapter. As Carre and Combine can attest… from the previous times I burned it down.
Crimson then walks into the room with some pizza boxes, before looking around with a confused look at the state of the state of the studio. "The fuck happened here!"
"Arachnid phobia" Wombag responds as he loads two custom incendiary shells. He then points to two natives' chard corpses. "Had to bring these fucks in from the dreamland and Japan and then dress them up. Suffice to say I snapped a few, dozen times."
"Seriously? We talked about this!" Crimson says in anger. "You can't keep burning down the studio!"
"I know why do you think I mind wipe the Insurance company? They think this is the first time this happened." Wombag said as he points the sawed off up. Blasting one off the ceiling. Letting it roll around in agony for a few moments before going still.
"That not the problem and you know it." One of the Arachnids crawl behind Crimson in fear. Crimson pets the creature on the head. "I know he an idiot."
As he lifts his hand from the spider Wombag blew her head clean off. "You do know how they repopulate... right? Cause if so how come your not dead... and a woman?"
Wombag then throw the shotgun behind him and turns to the audience. "In any case this was an interesting chapter. Seems the crew who were not killed were taken to an unground volcano. The island had moved up and down the Pacific. And the natives… are all female. Can you guess why? And then there was the ending scene. Dear lord… what the fuck is that. Find out next time, but till then lets go over some comment and questions."
From Carre: 1. No problem
2A. DAMN YOU GOOGLE TRANSLATOR… again.
2B. Aye. He'd be telling tales from his native lands and those he'd picked up on his travels. (Not sure if you saw these Youtube shorts but the one's called Scariest Monsters in each countries Mythology. I'd imagine that Olog knows these legends and Ren knows the truth behind each one, and will give the appropriate PTSD look.)
2C. Yeah add Geisha, Amazonian brides, and by the look of it some of the members of the expedition. Though what turned them into this? (Find out next time!)
2D. Hmm… I'll have to note that down for later. And ask Archivespotlight on a proper translation *Pause to look at google translator with distain. * (He's the artist who I'd commissioned to draw the current poster. Also native Chinese so he'd should help out with proper linguists.)
2E. If you like the chapters that dive into Arc 20. Return of the Terror. "When, government officials start dropping like flies. Found dead by an improve guillotine, it's up to Nora and Jobert to put an end to this madness. Can they end this madness or will they too be the victims of the Terror?"
3. Thanks and I do. (Specially with how things are getting globally and domestically.)
Thanks for writing Carre.
From Black cross0: Well, I hope this one lives up to your expectation.
Thanks for writing Black cross0.
From ThatSpaceMann2: Well, I did give a full warning on what you'll be getting going in. Heh, sides if you think the strong language is surprising, wait till Arc 18. That shit will make your draw drop from the obscenities of the Weimar.
Thanks for writing ThatSpaceMann2.
Well with that now said and done, I can't wait for next weeks epic conclusion. Will Ren and Olof escape? What the hell is this place? And most importantly. What are those natives? Find out next time, till then please fav, fol, and leave a comment down bellow. This is Wombag1786, back on schedule and signing off!
