Welcome back to The Injustice Wars. Last time, the collection of Metropolis began. For a moment, things looked pretty even, then when Blaze and Supergirl attempted to infiltrate Brainiac's ship, he threw up a force field preventing them from getting in. And after electrifying the force field, the two were cast down, only to be saved by the arrival of Black Diamond. The newcomer readily agrees to join the battle, with Blaze and Supergirl having no time to ask questions. However, this time, we won't be resuming with Blaze quite yet. Though we aren't leaving Metropolis quite yet. So, what is going to happen next? Read on to discover...

(Our scene resumes back in Metropolis, only we're flashing back slightly. Specifically to just as Blaze and Supergirl took off to try and enter the Skull Ship. While they're doing that, our scene focuses back on Cheetah and Nekoto Wismer, who are still fighting it out as last we left them. Cheetah attempts to swipe at Nekoto Wismer, but the latter disappears in a flash of smoke only to tackle her from behind. Cheetah recovers and, for some reason, starts to chuckle. It seems the nekomata has impressed Cheetah somewhat with his abilities as a combatant, much to her own surprise apparently.)

Cheetah: And here I was expecting this battle to be easy. I'll give you this, you fight well.

Nekoto Wismer: I've been told I'm impressive for my age.

Cheetah: So have I. And it's about time I show you why.

Nekoto Wismer: Not to boast, but it's a lot more interesting when you're still a child.

Cheetah: (With a metaphorical record scratch playing in her head) Wait, what?

Nekoto Wismer: (Confused) Yeah? I may be old by human standards, but I'm still a kid as far as nekomata are concerned. Why?

(For a moment, Cheetah appears to hesitate, uncertain about something. A far cry from the merciless huntress she's usually seen as. And despite Nekoto Wismer being her enemy, he's concerned for her)

Nekoto Wismer: Miss? Are you okay?

Cheetah: What is this... conflict... in me? I've never hesitated against a foe before!

(As the battle rages on behind them, a pair of Brainiac's drones appear ready to grab Nekoto Wismer and presumably kill him. Cheetah ordinarily would let that happen, but this time she looks on the situation with concern)

Cheetah: Behind you!

(A little confused by Cheetah's warning, but still heeding it, Nekoto Wismer turns around and sees the two drones approaching. Springing into action, Nekoto Wismer cuts one drone down with his katana, but the other manages to slash his arm. This for some reason makes Cheetah even angrier than she would be at Wonder Woman, as evidenced by how she leaps in and cuts the drone down before it can finish Nekoto Wismer off, leaving the nekomata just plain confused. But he's not the only one, as Grodd sends a message to her via an earpiece)

Gorilla Grodd: CHEETAH, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!

Cheetah: (Back to Grodd) I was willing to do a lot to get my revenge on Wonder Woman, but for the first time, I'm seeing you've gone too far.

Gorilla Grodd: What are you talking about?!

Cheetah: Consider our partnership ended, Grodd. I'm done with the Society.

(Before Grodd can even respond to that, Cheetah takes out the earpiece and crushes it in her palm before helping Nekoto Wismer to his feet)

Nekoto Wismer: (Completely baffled) What was that all about?

Cheetah: I don't know how you did it, but... somehow you've brought something of the old me back to the surface.

Nekoto Wismer: (Thinks about it ) I guess I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth. One more slash and I'd be joining my parents.

Cheetah: Your parents?

Nekoto Wismer: Yeah. I never knew them. Probably the closest thing I have to a father was Belial.

Cheetah: You probably got lucky then. My father was far from the best guy, and I never knew my mother.

Nekoto Wismer: (Seeing Blaze and Supergirl fall from the sky) As much as I'd love to continue this conversation, there's still a collection to stop.

Cheetah: Then let us fight together.

Nekoto Wismer: Seriously?

Cheetah: I kind of cut my last tie to the Society a few seconds ago. But I'm not giving up this fight.

Nekoto Wismer: That's... admirable. But hey, I'm sure Belial will welcome you. (Draws his katana) For now, there's a battle to win.

Cheetah: (Extends her claws) Agreed. Let's do this.

(And as Nekoto Wismer and Cheetah re-enter the fray, our tale ends for today)

And that looks like a good spot to wrap up for now. Yeah, I know this sudden change of heart from Cheetah may seem a little out of place. But rest assured, she still wants revenge on Wonder Woman, just now she'll probably be going about it through the Republic instead of the Society. Looks like Grodd and Brainiac are the only ones left of that faction. Should be pretty easy to wrap them up. And yes, we will delve further into why Cheetah suddenly had this change of heart as we go on. But it looks like it has something to do with Nekoto being merely a child that pushed her over the edge. And Cheetah leaves the Society by the end of Injustice 2 anyways, so that much isn't too far out of character. But it really starts her down the path she was on when she shows up again in Dragon's Quest: Age of Miracles, where she's actually adopted Nekoto by that point. As stated, we'll get into how that transition happens later. For now, the battle for Metropolis still rages. So, what awaits next? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
