Sweet and Dark Heart: Chapter 2
"…Talking about me?" Natsuki asked as Sayori smiled up at Natsuki, while John's eyes widened.
"Hey Natsuki! We were!" Sayori said cheerfully as Natsuki looked down at her and then at John.
'Sayori you goofball, why would you say that?! Natsuki looks like she's about to eat me for a snack!' John thought to himself as Natsuki looked back at her with an unsettling intensity.
"…What about?" Natsuki asked.
"John here just thinks you're intense, so I told him he just needs to know you better to see you're a big giantess with a heart of gold!" Sayori says cheerfully as Natsuki's eyes narrowed.
'…I don't know if I should be grateful or angry at Sayori due to her being so close to John. But…she did bring John to the Literature Club…I should be thankful but not show it. I can't be seen as weak if I show too much gratitude...' Natsuki thought as she turned to John.
"Hmph, I just might be...either way, I have nothing else to say to that…! I only came back because I had to use the bathroom and saw you two here! Anyways, later." Natsuki said as she gave a brisk wave before turning and walking down the hallway, disappearing from sight.
"…A heart of gold huh?" John asked with a smirk.
"She is once you get to know her, seriously, she's cool!" Sayori said.
"It was a bit scary she came up behind us like that…but I do want to get to know her and be her friend…" John said.
Unbeknownst to them as they left the school, Natsuki heard everything that the two said. An eerie grin formed on her face as her eyes sparkled with dark mischief before she also walked out of the school.
"…He wants to be my friend huh…? Good…soon enough, he'll be my friend and then eventually, he'll be more than that…" Natsuki mumbled to herself as she made her way home.
After John and Sayori chatted for a bit as they walked home, they eventually reached their respective homes. Sayori lived right next-door to John since they've been eight years old. Unlike Sayori whose parents work abroad and sends her an allowance every month on top of Sayori also working at a pet store and taking care of animals, John sadly had no parents, as they passed away when he was just ten years old in a car accident. His grandmother from his mom's side took care of him afterwards all the way until John turned seventeen, then she also passed away due to old age. Since then, John has been living at the house, which was passed down to him all by himself.
John took his shoes off after entering into his house and sat down in his bedroom, where he had various manga and anime series, and some video games too. He settled in for a bit and played on his good old GameCube, soon getting a text from the Literature Club group after Sayori added him to it. The text was from Monika letting everyone know to write a poem for the Literature Club meeting on Wednesday, as the group met every single day and Monika wanted to give John some time to do the poem and not make him feel overwhelmed. After the group chatted amongst one another for some time, John decided to work on his poem after doing his schoolwork – then it'd be time for some games. Pausing the game, John worked on his schoolwork and decided to begin writing his poem, thinking of all the girls and how wonderful they were in their own way – even the intense Natsuki. John did a bit of research on different writing styles and several minutes later, decided to write his poem, as he never wrote one before.
'Alright…come on John, you can do this…' John thought as he began to write.
After about an hour, John completed his poem, it was simple but effective and even though today was his first day in the Literature Club, he certainly was happy with the group. After all, the only person he really had to get to know was Natsuki and even though John doesn't mind anyone taller than him at all, her intensity and very large size could take a bit of getting used to. John felt rather proud of his poem and he decided to read it aloud to himself.
A flurry of friends by John Sarashina
Three girls and a guy, friends to the end.
Then I meet a tall woman, she looks like she can make anything bend.
The Literature Club seems like a place anyone can be, I feel that the club will make me happy.
I may be shy and soft-spoken with a big heart, but at least I can say that I'm honestly not sappy.
Since that's what I think about the experience and myself.
Smiles around and joy abound, that's what the Literature Club is about.
When all is said and done, the group of us have fun and shout!
There are many faces and just one I don't know, but I'll learn to know you.
After all, with your presence I'd be turned to dough, but I sense that's not what you'd do.
Because I can sense that you're a good person.
I've been in the Literature Club for a short time, but I don't think it's sublime.
Surrounded by such nice people so I know I'll stay, after all it brings joy to my day.
This is the first poem I wrote, so hopefully it's not as funny as a shaved goat.
But no matter how nice the poem is, I wouldn't want to gloat.
I'm enjoying my time already, that it makes me heart feel steady.
I'll have a great time with you ladies, let's make some cool memories!
John chuckled when he finished reading it aloud, it was simple, cheesy, sweet and heartwarming all at the same time. Afterwards, John went back to playing video games and soon enough, he headed to bed.
- Tuesday Morning, 10 A.M. –
John headed out in his school uniform ready for the day and of course the first person John sees when he leaves his house, is Sayori waiting there for him.
"Heeeeeey! Took you long enough!" Sayori said as she giggled and flashed her trademark smile.
"Oh please, I'm the one who usually has to wait for you!" John said as he playfully flicked Sayori's forehead.
"Owwwww…that hurt! What'd you do that for?" Sayori asked as they walked to school.
"For making me wait for you so often, duh! What are you, Princess Sayori?!" John asked in mock anger as Sayori giggled.
"Eheheh~ I am a princess!" Sayori said as John rolled his eyes.
"Uh-huh, more like princess of cookies!" John said as Sayori burst out laughing.
The way to school was filled with the two laughing and chatting as they always did. Then they headed their separate ways to their classes. The day went by slowly with the four classes for John being English, Home Economics, Environmental Science and Mathematics but he was relieved that it was time for the Literature Club. Despite initially being guilt-tripped by Sayori into joining, he found that the idea of a Literature Club wasn't really a bad idea at all.
Heading to the second floor, John walked a short time before reaching the club room and heading inside. Everyone was already there of course, Sayori was chatting with Monika while Yuri was engrossed in a novel. Natsuki was by the back room rummaging around for something. John waved to Monika & Sayori, both of whom cheerfully waved back to him. The two girls wrapped up their conversation and Monika walked over to John while Sayori began to chat with Yuri, who put a bookmark in her book and spoke with the bubbly woman.
"Hi John! Glad to see we didn't scare you off yesterday!" Monika cheerfully said as John chuckled.
"Hey there Monika, even though you're pretty terrifying, you didn't scare me off, yet at least." John said as Monika giggled.
"You're a funny one John! So, did you get started on the poem, or are you gonna wait until last minute like Sayori?" Monika asked as she gave a small smile.
"Well…I already finished…it's not the best but I'll present it tomorrow, if that's okay." John said.
"That's fine by me, nice work on getting it done, just remember to go at your own pace!" Monika said as she gave John a friendly pat on the shoulder.
After John said hello to Yuri and Sayori, he heard some rustling in the back of the club room. Walking through the door threshold, John saw Natsuki bending down to organize her manga, grumbling about Monika moving the boxes.
"Graaah...Monika always moving my manga boxes…hm? Hey shorty, what do you want?" Natsuki asked, trying to maintain an annoyed tone, while her heart began to race.
"Uhm…hi Natsuki, I heard you in the back earlier so I figured I came to see what's up." John said as Natsuki stood up to her full height and then put her elbow on one of the shelves, propping her head up.
"…What's it look like I'm doing? I'm organizing my manga collection here since my strict dad wouldn't want this in my room." Natsuki said.
"I…I see…can I help you with organizing?" John asked as Natsuki feigned indifference, though her eyebrows raised a fraction of an inch.
"…Hah, you? You really want to help me with fixing my collection?" Natsuki inquired harshly…but on the inside, she was ecstatic.
"Well yeah I mean, we're both manga fans so I know how annoying it can be when someone touches your stuff – even if they didn't mean to do it." John said as Natsuki gives a faint smile.
"Hah, you might be a shy dweeb but at least you understand where I'm coming from! Alright then, come help me and hurry up!" Natsuki said as John walked over to help.
After John struggled to move a few of the manga boxes, which were rather heavy and Natsuki had to assist him, it was time to reorganize them, which didn't take too long thankfully. One manga book had fallen in the midst of fixing the collections and had slid underneath the shelving unit's four inch gap, so Natsuki got onto her hands and knees to get the book. Even though it only took her about twenty seconds to find the manga that had fallen underneath, it meant that given her very compromising position, that her skirt had flipped up, which meant that Natsuki was inadvertently showing off her bright pink panties and very ample rear end to John who became flustered and looked away quickly.
"What's that reaction for…? H-huh? Wait are you staring at…?" Natsuki asked as her face was bright red.
"N-no I didn't intend to look!" John said.
Natsuki quickly stood up after getting the manga and turned around, her massive body looming over John. There were quite a few manga books on the floor and Natsuki was both flattered and embarrassed at the same time.
'This…this dummy, looking at my butt like that! But…even if it wasn't intentional or not…I don't mind him giving me attention…' Natsuki thought to herself.
As Natsuki took a step forward, she slipped on one of the manga books on the ground…and came toppling down right on top of John, with the book she was holding escaping from her grasp. Now the position the two were in was even more compromising…after all, with Natsuki being 6'11" and 260 pounds while John is 6' tall and 160 pounds, Natsuki practically smothered John by being on top of him. John and Natsuki's faces were bright red from such close proximity to one another and John was at a total loss of words.
