Its been weeks since Charles and Esmeray gotten along more than the other boys in the orphanage. They have hanging out in each other's room when they dont have anything else to do around the house. Esmeray has more open up to Charles when she has an issue and he's there to listen or find a way to cheer her up like riding bikes down the town center or explore abandoned places. Now they were in class being taught history with other students who get brought here for education like any other normal schools. Esmeray paid attention but didnt act like it while she sketched on her notebook when the bell rang. She gathered her things not seeing a blonde watching to her blocking her way out of the class. "Esmeray." said the blonde. "Harold. Whats going on?" said Esmeray. "I was wondering if you werent busy after school. We can watch the new movie coming out, Jaws." said Harold. "Hey Ray. Harry." said Charles wrapping his arm around Esmeray's shoulders smiling at her then at Harold. "Its Harold. Charles." said HArold. "What are you guys talking about?" said Charles. "I was asking Esmeray out. What do you say?" said Harold as Charles hissed. "Sorry but we got to babysit and shit ton of work to do for the church. So she's available . . . never." said Charles pulling her away out of the class. Esmeray looked at him before he pushed her out in the hall to glare at Harold before wiping it off replacing it smile. "Okay the fuck was that?" Said Esmeray walking down the hall beside him. "What are you talking about?" Said Charles playing dumb. "This is the fourth time that you drove a boy away from me. Im beginning to think someones got a crush." Said Esmeray looking up at him. "Me having a crush on you? Fuck that. Those guys are horny because your tiny tits gotten a bit bigger. Ow!" Siad Charles after Esmeray punched his right shoulder. "Its true." He says rubbing his shoulder to ease the pain. "Whatever. You can't stand the fact that you are bored without me." Said Esmeray. "Youre more fun than Eddie. Now im gonna take a piss. Meet me at our spot for lunch." Said Charles leaving her alone she stepped outside. He made sure she was gone beofre changibg directions to find Harold spotting him going upstairs. Harold went into a biology class to cpoy some note from obe of his friends then left. He didnt know how it even happened but all he remembered was walking back to the stairs passing Charles and everything went dark. Esmeray sat by the wooded area sitting on a stunp eating her lunch while waiting for Charles like she normally does. She looked at where she last saw him to find a few students and staff rushing slowly making her curious until Charles jogged over. "Whats going on?" Said Esmeray. "Harold had a bad tumble on the way to the stairs. No one saw what happened except finding him out with his leg and arm badly broken from what i heard." Said Charles. "Never saw him as the clumsy ones." Said Esmeray confused. "Im surprised as you." Said Charles. "Say how we go sneak into the abandoned warehouse and burn shit." Said Charles. "What happened to the babysitting?" Said Esmeray. "We wont be gone for long." Said Charles. "Fine. I have to study for that huge math test." Said Esmeray. "Speaking of . . ." Charles says as Esmeray handed him her notes to copy. "Man, youre adorable." He muttered after grabbing it. "What?" Said Esmeray. "I said youre a fucking dork." Said Charles having Esmeray flip him off. He sat down taking out his lunch from his backpack while writing down on his notebooks that looks barley used. Esmeray began looking into her textbook with the sound of the ambulance sirens drawing closer to their school not wanting to pay too much attention to it as this wasnt the first incident like this happened.
It was late when Esmeray had her bag ready to go out with Charles to their new hangout which was an old auto factory where they keep spare parrs or dump thing people dont want anymore. Knock. Knock. Knock. Esmeray turned to see Mary holding a envelope with an officer standing behind her. "If its about " "Its your aunt." Said Mary. "What about her? Find more excuses to save my brother and my dad." Said Esmeray. "They want you to come to the station first then the hospital." Said Mary. "And if i dont come." Said Esmeray. "Then we are going to force you. Your choice." Said the officer. Esmeray threw her bag on the bed walking with the officer and Mary going outside to the car. She got in the back looking out the window seeing Charles shrugging her shoulders for a second before they left. They went doing their part by being frisked by a female officer and taken to the interrogation room. Esmeray sat down at the fable alone for a minute when a male officer that she was familiar with walked in. "How you been Esmeray? Its been what almost a year now since we last talked." Said the officer. "When my family turned against me for telling the truth." Said Esmeray calmy but they bothknew better. "We know that netiher of us want to be here especially you. Okay. Let just do our parts. I ask you the usual questions and tell you what happened even though you dont want anymore hear it. Have the residents of Burlington Wayward treating you respectfully?" Said The officer looking at rhe clipboard he brought with him. "Yes. I even made a friend there if you were wondering " said Esmeray seeing him write it down. "Okay. Has there any incidents regarding SA, SH, and or attempt to harm anyone during your stay?" Said the officer. "A boy i barely knew fell down the stairs breaking two limbs but i wasnt there when that happened. But on my first day gotten a call from you know who." Said Esmeray seei g his eyes shoot up at her. "They made contact with you? What did they want?" Said the officer. "I have no fucking idea. Just a bullshit excuse go talk to me about lifting the restraining order." Said Esmeray. "The judge has to make it official in court." Said the officer.
"So until i get impregnated then." Said Esmeray. "Not funny. Anyways your Aunt Patricia was found at the bottom of a busy highway unconscious after a witness saw her jump off the bridge. Shes in stable condition for now with three broken ribs, ankles broken clean off, cracked skull, and wired jaw. Patricia can only communicate with pen and Paper or even a bell. She wants to see you." Said The officer. "Not happening." Said Esmeray. "We have to get her to talk. Five minutes." Said The officer. "No." Said Esmeray. "She didnt believe me from the beginning of this shit!" She says. "I can go with you so you wont be alone with her." Said the officer. "Do i need to go willingly or by force?" Said Esmeray. "Jaquez!" Said The officer. "Five hundred bucks if you go." Said The officer as Esmeray growled then yelled. "Fuck you!" Said Esmeray getting up. She and the officer went to the hospital going to Patricia's room seeing her lay on her bed with a pen, paper, and a bell by her hands. "Ill be out in the hall." Said the officer. Esmeray walked in sitting down loudly for Patrica to open her eyes glancing at her. "Happy to see me?" Sias Esmeray. 'Y u here' Patricia wrote. "They called me. Why end it?" Said Esmeray. 'Cnt tak no mre' Patricia wrote. '2 much' she finished with Esmeray scoffing. "Too late for that. Where the fuck were you when they did that to me? I cried for you and my so called mother. Think im still a liar now? I cant just let go of this like you have." Said Esmeray. 'Srry. I scard' Patricia wrote. "So was i and i hope your happy with yourself." Said Esmeray as the heart monitor began beeping loudly. She saw her heart rate going fast with her body began to shake with the doctors and nurses rush in having Esmeray escorted out. Esmeray watched as much as she could seeing Patricia shake violently before her body suddenly stopped looking at her motionless. "I think you seen enough for tonight. Lets get you back." Said the officer. Esmeray got out walking inside not saying to Mary when she went out. She headed to her room laying on her bed facing the wall for a long time when Charles crawled in next to her looking at her. "My aunt did the jump and died in front of me." Said Esmeray. "Did she deserve it?" Said Charles. "Is it wrong to say yes?" Said Esmeray. "No. Now you dont have to worry. No one is going to take you from me. Cant imagine a day without you? Im not here to confess the whole lovey shit but letting you know that you're mine." Said Charles pulling her close to him kissing her head. He held her there watching her slowly falling asleep admiring her face taking in every detail before getting up to close the door and went back into his position with her.
