Jadeite ran his tongue over the first mated Mark he had given Rei; he then switched to the other shoulder and did the same thing with the second. "You can see these now. I can't believe you didn't tell me you did the spell."

"I wanted it to be a surprise." She then kissed his cheek and whispered into his ear. "I didn't know how much it would matter to me to see them. Somehow, it feels more real now —in a way. I get why people wear rings."

He pulled her tightly against his chest. "You're amazing."

"Yes, she is," Mars said, appearing out of the blue.

"I was trying to work Rei over there," Jadeite said, petulantly pointing at the bed. "You're in the way of my fun time."

Mars laughed and shook his head at Jadeite in amusement. "I realized no one ever asked the right question about Satoru. So I looked into it."

Jadeite took a threatening step toward Mars. "I don't care who you are. That's our son! He doesn't need to be 'looked into'. I trust him completely."

With a pleased, indulgent smile, Mars replied, "Of course, he can be trusted."

"Oh," Jadeite replied, indignation abating. "What question then?"

Rei cocked her head at Mars and asked, "Why was he born now at the perfect time for us to find him? We died a thousand years ago."

"You are brilliant, my child," Mars praised. "You have the mind of a tactician." He then said, "He wasn't. He wasn't born at the perfect time."

"But we found him," Jadeite objected. "She's right. There are a thousand years in there that he could have been born in instead."

"He was," Mars replied. "His cycle took six hundred years to reset because of how he died, but in the last 400-plus years, he has been reborn eight times. The number is so high because of the appallingly short life spans in the past."

Rei began to cry, and Jadeite pulled her into his arms to comfort her. His heart broke watching her. He whispered, "What's wrong?"

She looked at him with tear tracks on her cheeks. "Nothing. These are happy tears. Don't you see? This means he's going to be reborn again and again." Rei then looked at Mars. "You will help us find him each time."

"I will," Mars vowed. Then, it fully dawned on Jadeite that they could have a child. Their son would be reborn through the centuries. And maybe, one time, he would decide to become a vampire and stay with them. He figured since he wasn't a werewolf when his son was conceived the first time, he wouldn't be a hybrid now.

"We will have to work with his parents and figure out…" Rei trailed off as she watched Mars shake his head at her statement.

He then said, "Usagi's mother, back when Usagi went by Astrid, was only left vulnerable to having to marry for power by her greedy uncle. Usagi's father had wanted a beautiful and powerful witch as his wife, and he was willing to give political power to anyone who would give him his desire. And since her parents died at a young age, her uncle took over the family and her guardianship. Usagi's grandfather was murdered, but that was never known, and her grandmother had died giving birth to her son, her mother's younger brother. That was Satoru's first reincarnation."

"He was Astrid—Usagi's Uncle?"

"Yes," Mars stated.

Jadeite's eyes narrowed in thought, and he said, "You're hinting at something. She was talking about…" He trailed off, hoping they would all wait and let him reason it out. He loved Rei's brilliant mind, but he wanted to prove he was smart too. And then it dawned on him. "His parents died young in this lifetime, too, and he was left to raise his sister when his relatives stopped providing aid. Does he always have a sister?"

"No."

"Okay. I get it, I think. You stopped Rei because we won't need to work with his parents. We will be able to step in as his parents when his parents inevitably die young, and at times, we could take in his siblings, too. You're saying we get to raise our son."

"That's exactly what I'm saying. And I'm vowing to you both now. I will help you locate him every time. You won't give birth, Rei, but you can both have a child."

With a large beaming smile, she looked at her love. "Jadeite, we get to protect him time and time again."

"Always," he vowed.

Mars bowed and then said, "And now it's time for me to leave."

When he was gone, Rei looked into Jadeite's eyes. "What I desperately want now is to become a vampire. I need this step to cement our lives together and our future over the centuries with our son."

He bit his wrist and maimed it a bit so she could latch on and drink his blood before it completely healed. "Will you be a hybrid like me?" He asked.

"No. I would have to have werewolf DNA, and Mars would have told me if I did."

He nodded and held her. "How do you want to do this?"

She looked up into his eyes. "Love me to death."

After stripping them both, he laid her on the bed and had her drink more of his blood. He didn't want to take any chances. He then climbed on top of her. "Sweet and romantic or… How rough do you want it?"

"I want you to bite me and drain me, but as for rough..? Just have fun. I trust you, and if it goes too far, I'll say something."

He kissed along her jawline as he lowered himself on the bed, too. As he felt his body make contact with hers, he sighed in pleasure. As much as she was his world, her sexy body was a whole other thing.

He and Kunzite had talked one night about sex. His friend had mentioned that if he didn't love Minako, he still would have lusted after her body. He completely understood Kunzite's point that night. They were lucky men who were mated to objectively sexy women. He felt the same about Rei; she was a vixen.

He grabbed her breast and said, "I'm considering which side of my hybrid status to bring out to play. Werewolf or Vampire? Lady's choice. Just know my werewolf is a bit more rough."

She locked eyes with him. "Your Vampire blood will change me. Take me there with your werewolf side. It's who you are deep in your heart, isn't it? In a few decades, you might be more in touch with this new side, but I want the true you right now."

He smiled at her, showed his teeth, and then let out a low feral growl. "You're still human."

"And you'd stop the moment I asked you to."

He lovingly shook his head, "Do you really think I want pain to be any part of this experience? You will remember tonight for the rest of our existence."

"Then what do you propose? You asked in the first place."

He licked her first mated mark. "I'm thinking…." Jadeite then sighed. "All of a sudden, I'm getting in my head too much about this. You're right, I asked. And the lady wants the werewolf, and she'll get the werewolf."

He was glad Usagi had warned him about how stressful sitting around and waiting would be, and yet still, he was trying not to come apart. He didn't know to be relieved that Sapphire had kept his experience with Naru from him.

Sapphire withheld that, knowing that as one of Bastet's alicots, Naru's transition would be different from Rei's. Rei was already the witch she was supposed to be, and he figured if there was anything to warn him about, Mars would do that. He found he agreed secretly with Mars. He believed he was the more helpful god to be linked to. Bastet just managed to annoy him.

As he waited, he carefully dressed her. He didn't want to risk anyone showing up when they were naked. He did know that part of Naru's transition.

When she woke ten minutes later, he let out a sigh of utter relief. He smiled at her, "My Vampiress, welcome to the rest of eternity."

She then kissed him, and they made love again.

I took away Rei's ability to have children with Jadeite's sudden transition, but I had a plan. And now that you've read it, I hope you found it to be satisfying. They will be able to raise their son over and over again throughout the centuries. I will write in the epilogue about their son. I have several items that will need to be wrapped up after the main story has ended.
