"Welcome home!" The Gardners exclaimed when Will entered the home. He was just out of law school and he returned home for his sister's wedding.

"Billy!" His mother gave him a big kiss and hug.

"It's Will now, mom. He's a big boy lawyer now." His older sister Sara teased him.

"Alright, alright." Will said.

"Hey big brother, I miss ya." his younger sister, Aubrey said with a big smile.

"You're all acting like I wasn't only 45 miles away. You all saw me 2 weeks ago." Will dropped his bag on the floor.

"It's about the milestone, son." Will's father shook his hand. "I'm proud of you."

"Thank you, dad."

After a welcome diner with his favorite dish, Will's father had a talk with his son in private. He served him a scotch.

"So what kind of lawyer are you going to be?"

"I don't know, yet. I think I want to be in court." Will said. "Why? You need one."

"I do."

"What's going on, dad?"

Mr. Gardner explained to his son how deep in debt he was, how the family business was about to go under. He had to help him.

"How, dad?" Will asked. "How did it get this bad?"

"I have a lot of responsibilities, bills to pay."

"You're paying for Sarah's wedding, aren't you?"

"Yes, I am. Just like I paid for Georgetown."

"Alright." Will sighed. "I'm not an administrator or an accountant but I think I can help."

A few days later Will went through the mess his father did. He realized it was going to take him a long time but he was determined to help. Will decided to postpone moving to Chicago for a while, two weeks tops.

Months later, Will discovered his dad had a gambling problem, which was the source of his money problem.

"Dad, what are you doing?"

"I can explain, son."

"Explain what? I'm trying to help you and you're literally gambling away. Does mom know?"

"I kept her away from my mess. But you have to save the business, it's yours if you do it."

"I don't wanna it."

"Please son." The old man begged. Will wanted to leave Baltimore, leave his father to fix his own mistakes. But he thought about his mom and his younger sister who was still in school. He made a phone call to Chicago.

"Hello?"

"Hi, is Alicia there?"

"Alicia moved out." The woman said.

"She did?"

"Yeah, I'm her roommate, well, I was her roommate. She's back with her mom, I think."

"Do you have her number?"

"Sorry, no."

"Is she still working at Schultz and associates?"

"Yeah, I think so."

"Thanks."

Will was able to locate Alicia at work and informed her he was still stuck with helping his dad.

"I think it's very sweet of you." Alicia told him.

"But I'm still planning to go to Chicago." Will insisted.

"That would be nice."

That little phone call gave Will hope, the woman of his dreams was in Chicago waiting for him. In the meantime, he hooked up with an account named Vivian, who was helping him with his dad's company.

Will's works turned to be futile, in the end his father's business had to be liquidated to save their house and the little money they had left. With that, Will considered his work done and he was ready to leave for Chicago.

"Why do you want to leave?" Sara asked him. They were having a beer on his sister's porch.

"I don't want to work in Baltimore." Will shrugged. "I like Chicago better."

"Have you ever been to Chicago?" She insisted. "If you want a big city, why not New York? It's closer."

"I like the job opportunities there better than here."

"You're not going to work the docks with cousin Nick and uncle Frank." She said. "Although they'll probably need a lawyer soon."

"He's going to Chicago because of a girl." Aubrey said. "I heard him on the phone once. Uuuuyyy."

"Come on." Will laughed nervously.

"Oh my God." The older sister said.

"I know, he's blushing."

"No, that's not it. Aren't you dating Vivian?" Sarah asked her brother.

"I'm not exactly dating her." Will told them. "We're having fun."

"William!" She exclaimed. "This is like Jessy Humphrey in Highs school all over again."

"No, it's not. We're both adults."

"Wait, hold on." Aubrey said. "Vivian, our Vivian from the accounting firm?"

"Yeah."

"She's engaged." She said with confusion. "I just met her fiance."

"She is?" Will said. "I didn't know that. Well, there goes another reason to leave town."

The night before Will left Baltimore, Will visited Vivian one last time.

"You came to say goodbye." Vivian pulled her sweater to cover up her chest, it was a chilly night. They took a walk around her block.

"I wanted to tell you these couple of months between us were...nice." Will said with his hands in his pockets.

"Couple of months? Will, it's been almost a year."

"Wow, time flies by."

Vivian laughed. "You're something else, Will."

"Congratulations, by the way. I heard you are getting married."

"I am, to a good man."

"I'm not a good man?"

"Oh Will, I couldn't wait for you to get serious. And honestly, I don't know why you think that girl from Chicago is waiting for you."

Will stopped walking. "I told you about her?" She nodded to him. "Well, I gotta give it a try."

"Good luck, my no serious man."

I fell in love again

All things go, all things go

Drove to Chicago

All things know, all things know

Upon his arrival to the windy city, Will got a couple of job interviews and he gladly accepted a junior position at Feagan & Brown. With a good job under his belt, he decided to visit Alicia at Schultz and Associates.

"Good morning." Will approached the front desk. "I'm here to see Alicia Cavanaugh. I don't have an appointment, I'm a friend of hers."

The woman looked at him and smirked. "You're a friend of hers? Then you should know."

"Know what?"

"This." The receptionist showed Will the newspaper she was reading. There it was the wedding of Peter and Alicia. Mr. and Mrs. Florrick now. "They got married this Saturday, I think their honeymoon is in Hawaii."

Will read the small article 3 times over. 'Peter Florrick, that guy from Georgetown?'

"Do you want to leave a message?"

"No, that's okay. I...It's fine." Will gave her the newspaper back. "In fact, don't tell her I was here."

Feeling completely defeated, Will wondered what to do next. He found the nearest payphone and called his home.

"Mom, it's me Will." The young lawyer. "Is dad home?"

"What is it, Billy?"

"I want to know if dad's friend still has a job for me. If I go back."

"Why would you come back?"

"Because..." Will didn't know how to explain to his mom. How he could possibly explain the heartache he was feeling. How he was convinced that if he got the chance of kissing Alicia just once, he would die a happy man.

"Will, you didn't get the job?"

"No, I got the job. It's a good job."

"Then don't come back to Baltimore. Don't you ever come back."

"Mom?"

"It's different with your sisters, but I know if you come back your dad is going to involve you again in his dumb enterprises. He already wasted almost 2 years of your life because of his gambling." His mom told him.

"You knew?"

"What I know is that you'll be a great lawyer in Chicago. Stay there and be happy, son."

"I will, mom."

You had to find it (I made a lot of mistakes)

All things go, all things go (I made a lot of mistakes)
