Obi-Wan Had cut off Anakin's left arm and his feet.

"You were the chosen one! It was said that you would destroy the Sith, not join them! You were to bring balance to the Force, not leave it in darkness."

Anakin looked up at his former master, his eyes glowed yellow. Obi-Wan could no longer see the sweet and compassionate boy he had mentored. There was no trace of the young Jedi Knight who had been his closest friend for almost two decades.

"You were my brother Anakin, I loved you."

There was no response.

Obi-Wan turned away, the image of the mangled body on the floor burned into his memory.

His own body was battered and bloody, he had a cut across his forehead and his clothes were torn.

"I hate you!"

Obi-Wan froze and glanced over his shoulder, his former Padawan lay slumped against a pillar, the black cape draped around his shoulders, the hood hiding his face, but the rage and despair flowed through the force.

Obi-Wan couldn't bring himself to kill Anakin, it wasn't what Qui-Gon would have wanted.

Obi-Wan picked up Anakin's lightsaber and walked away, leaving the man who was once Anakin Skywalker alone.

Anakin laid on the rocks and ashes, how could he have lost?

Soon the empire's spacecraft landed, Anakin was going to be saved…. Or was he?

Palpatine stared down at the fallen Jedi.

"You are of no use to me now. You have failed me Lord Vader."

Anakin looked up at Palpatine.

"What?"

The emperor chuckled darkly.

"Did you really think I cared about you? Your so called loyalty to me was a sham! You will die here, like the rest of the Jedi. You were a pawn, that is all you will ever be. I don't need you any more, I have no use for you. The dark side has no place for those who are weak, and you are weak. You were nothing but a tool. You have out lived your usefulness and I no longer require your services. You are on your own. Goodbye Lord Vader. You will die here alone here is the fires of Mustafar just as a failure should."

Palpatine turned and walked away, leaving Anakin alone.

"No! No!"

Anakin was too weak to stand and try to save himself.

Palpatine didn't even care enough about him to stay and watch him burn.

Anakin laid on the floor, he didn't feel the flames. He had a abandoned by the one man who was supposed to help him.

Tears ran down Anakin's face, he had betrayed the Jedi council all for nothing. He had betrayed Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, Padme and the entire republic, all for nothing. Anakin was the hero without fear, now he was afraid, but of what?

"How could I have been so stupid?"

The fire surrounded him and he felt no pain, maybe it would have been better if Obi-Wan had killed him.

Anakin cried.

Palpatine was going to let him die, Obi-Wan was right all along. He had turned Padme against himself and he was going to lose his children, the Jedi were dead and the republic was gone. All because of his anger and lust for power.

Anakin's heart was in ruins.

It was all his fault, everything he had ever done was wrong, it was his fault, all his fault.

"Why?! Why did I trust him?"

The yellow glow was gone from Anakin's eyes, but now his eyes were filled with tears and he saw his mistake, but it was too late.

The physical pain he felt was horrible, but it was a walk in the park compared to the pain he felt in his heart.

Anakin had choked Padme, the woman he loved and he had turned on the man who loved him more than anything.

Anakin remembered Padme lying so still, as if she were dead. He hoped she would be okay. He knew he had acted out of line but choking her.

"Forgive me."

Anakin knew no one would hear him, no one would ever forgive him, no one would ever care for him again.

No one could possibly forgive him for his crimes, he was a monster.

Time seemed to stay still as Anakin had never felt so weak, not even when his mother died. The seconds felt like hours.

The empire was formed, the republic had been destroyed.

Anakin couldn't help but think of all of the innocent lives he murdered inside the temple, the Jedi children whose necks he had snapped.

It was all for nothing! He was a failure to the galaxy and to myself.

Anakin knew he would suffer for hours, it was what he deserved. He knew this was the price he would pay for betraying everyone.

Anakin closed his eyes and quietly waited to die… or maybe he just needed to process everything. He wasn't really sure.

Anakin reached out using the force hoping someone could help him, but he knew it was useless; no one could forgive him; no one would come for him… but someone did.

Someone pulled him out of the flames.

"Don't worry Anakin, I'm going to get you out of here."

Who's voice was that?
