Location: Off-world, Planet P4C-673
Time: A week after the Goa'uld communications were intercepted
SG-1 had been sent to P4C-673 to investigate a potential new alliance, but James knew the Goa'uld were lurking nearby. He could feel their presence, like an oppressive heat bearing down on him.
They had been negotiating with the native population of the planet when alarms suddenly blared, and guards rushed into the main hall where SG-1 was gathered.
"Jaffa," Teal'c said, his voice low and grim as he peered out of the hall's massive doors. "They are advancing quickly."
"Of course they are," Jack muttered. "We've got company."
James felt the growing pressure in his mind as the Goa'uld forces approached. His Ancient knowledge buzzed inside him like an overloaded circuit. He could sense them too—they were hunting for the power he carried.
"We need to get out of here," Samantha said urgently. "They're after James."
"I can hide my power," James said, his voice tense. "But only for five minutes. We'll need to make them think I'm not here."
Jack glanced at him. "Five minutes is better than nothing. Teal'c, Carter, with me. We'll try to hold them off while James hides."
"I'll activate it when they're closer," James said, closing his eyes to focus. He could feel the energy of the Goa'uld closing in like a heavy fog.
"Just don't blow a fuse," Jack quipped before turning to head out with Teal'c and Samantha.
The seconds ticked by painfully. The pressure in James's mind was almost unbearable now. He could feel the Goa'uld's probing, searching for him—his Ancient signature lighting up the landscape like a bonfire.
Finally, when the sensation became too much, James activated his skill.
[Activating Power Suppression…]
Instantly, the weight lifted. The oppressive sense of being hunted evaporated, and his mind calmed. He could think clearly again, the Ancient knowledge retreating into the background. For the next five minutes, he was invisible to the Goa'uld.
The Jaffa arrived in force, spreading out through the village, but as they searched, James could see their confusion. They couldn't find the source of the power they were hunting for.
"It's working," James whispered to himself, watching them through a crack in the door.
But time was running out. The five minutes would be up soon, and once his power returned, he knew the Goa'uld would sense him again instantly. He needed to figure out a way to stay hidden—and fast.
Suddenly, the door burst open. Two Jaffa stood in the doorway, staff weapons aimed directly at him.
James's heart raced. His suppression was about to expire.
The lead Jaffa sneered, stepping forward. "We know you are here, Tau'ri."
But just as they moved in, Jack and Teal'c ambushed the Jaffa from behind, taking them down swiftly.
"Time's up, buddy," Jack said as he helped James to his feet. "We need to move."
As they regrouped and retreated to the Stargate, James could feel the power inside him roaring back to life, more intense than ever. He had used his Power Suppression skill, but the pressure was only building.
Location: Stargate Command, Quarters
Time: That evening
Back at the SGC, James sat alone in his quarters, staring at his reflection in the mirror. The strain was growing unbearable, and even his newly acquired suppression skill couldn't hold back the flood of Ancient knowledge for long.
He knew he needed a solution—something more permanent, something that would let him keep his power hidden without burning himself out. But how? The Goa'uld were becoming more relentless, their presence always looming on the edge of his consciousness.
As he sat there, wrestling with the weight of his abilities, another notification flashed before his eyes:
[Quest Update: Unleash the Full Potential of the Ancient Knowledge]
Objective: Find a way to permanently control the flow of Ancient knowledge without losing yourself to the power.
Reward: Mastery of Ancient Knowledge.
James sighed, rubbing his temples. "Easier said than done."
The Goa'uld wouldn't stop hunting him, and now he had to figure out how to survive without letting the knowledge destroy him in the process.
But one thing was certain: if he didn't find a way to control it soon, the consequences could be catastrophic—for him, and for everyone around him.
