Chapter 9

Hours later, Uzui took the four to be shown off. Two middle aged people, a man and a woman were staring at the three, shuddering. Uzui tried his best to make Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu look as pretty as any other girl, but they still did not come out that great.

Now Rengoku did an amazing job. Uzui didn't have to do anything because Rengoku asked if he could disguise himself and when he came out looking female, Uzui almost thought Rengoku had a twin sister.

"Oh, my goodness, these girls are a homely bunch, aren't they?" said the woman.

The middle-aged man almost fainted just by looking at Tanjiro, Inosuke, and Zenitsu. "Sorry. I'm afraid we're not looking to hire at this time."

"I beg of you to find it in your heart to reconsider. I believe that under your training, Madam, their beauty'll bloom in no time." Uzui said.

"That's very flattering, but..." the middle-aged man trailed off as he saw the woman blushing.

"Well, I suppose taking in one wouldn't be a problem." said the middle-aged woman.

"I can assure you that you won't be disappointed. You may pick whichever girl you'd like." Uzui said.

"If we can choose, then I think we'll take the one in the middle. She looks the most obedient." the middle-aged women said, choosing Tanjiro.

"I promise to work as hard as I can." Tanjiro said.

"You should also take in this one." Uzui said, gesturing to Rengoku. "She doesn't speak much but she is passionate in helping others and working hard."

"Oh, she's so beautiful! But why would you want us to take her in?" asked the middle-aged woman.

"These two are pretty close. Almost like sisters. I wouldn't want to separate them." Uzui said.

"Oh, I see. Well, we'll be glad to take in both." the middle-aged woman said, choosing Rengoku.

"Great! Now I'm stuck with you two brats." Uzui said, walking alongside Zenitsu and Inosuke. "I'm gonna have to pay someone to take you."

Zenitsu exhales, trying to calm himself. "Stop talking to me. I don't want to hear it from you."

"Are you upset you have to dress up as a girl?" Uzui said, irritation seen on his face.

Without the other two knowing, Inosuke wanders off.

"You said you'd do anything I asked, right?"

I don't give a damn that I'm dressed up as a girl, you moron. Zenitsu thought in his mind, tuning out Uzui. It's that face of yours. You think you're such hot stuff, and it pisses me the heck off!

"Hey, look! Seems like there's a whole bunch of people swarming around over there." Inosuke points out as a young woman surrounded by other people comes walking down the street. The three walked over to see what the commotion was about.

Inosuke and Zenitsu looked on in awe.

"Ah! That there is House Tokito's oiran. Her name is Koinastu. The highest-ranking courtesan is going off to meet her suitor. How's that for being flashy?" Uzui explained.

"THAT HER?! ARE YOU TELLING ME THAT'S YOUR WIFE? HOW DID YOU GET A KNOCKOUT LIKE HER?! AND WHAT?! YOU HAVE THREE OF THEM?! DO THEY ALL LOOK LIKE THAT?! HUH?! DO THEY?!" Zenitsu screamed at Uzui.

"SHE'S NOT MY WIFE!" Uzui said as he punched Zenitsu in the face.

"Why does she walk so slow? She'd be killed instantly if we were in the mountains." Inosuke said. He didn't realize an older woman was standing right behind him, staring at him.

"Excuse me, sir." said the older woman to Uzui. She has Inosuke at her side. "But I'll be taking this girl back to my house now, if that's all right."

"I see. And you must be..."

"Forgive me. I am the chaperone of the Ogimoto House." said the woman.

Uzui clapped his hands together. "Well, if she managed to catch the eye of the Ogimoto House, how could I refuse?"

"May I ask what it was about her that caught your attention?"

"Yes. Her beauty is unlike any I have ever seen." the woman said.

"Take care of yourself out there, Inoko!" Uzui said as he waved bye to Inosuke.

Now that Tanjiro, Rengoku, and Inosuke are hired, all Uzui has left is Zenitsu.

Oh no! I'm the only one left here! Zenitsu thought as he realized he is the only one who hasn't gotten hired yet.

Back With Inosuke In The Ogimoto House

"Take a look at her now!" said the chaperone of the Ogimoto House.

"She's perfect!" said another woman.

Inosuke had his makeup taken off so with his feminine looks, he looks even more like a girl.

"I wasn't sure with all that makeup plastered over her face, but my goodness!"

"I can't believe I was able to buy this unrefined beauty for such a low price!" said the chaperone.

Inosuke looked on with a slight bit of confusion.

"I'm going to train this woman like nobody's business! When I'm through, she'll be in more demand than Kyogoku House's Warabihme or Tokito House's Koinastu!"

Back With Zenitsu At The Kyogoku House

Uzui has taken Zenitsu to the Kyogoku House to play an instrument called the shamisen. He played to prove how well he can play and to see if he will be picked. Turns out, Zenitsu can play the shamisen very well. Though he played it with anger, anger towards Tengen Uzui.

The young girls who were watching were whispering about Zenitsu's looks and how he has a good ear to the sounds of the shamisen. Seems like Zenitsu ended up getting picked by the Kyogoku House.
