Ch. 48

Yawning (a/n: did it again), Kotoko and Mrs. Irie worked at putting out the breakfast for the children. Yuga and Ayu just watched as the adults move around atomically, wondering what happened last night. "So are you kids ready for your first day of school?" asked Yuki trying to distract the kids.

"I guess," said Yuga picking at his food. Even though he was curious about the adults, he had been thinking about his new school, but he was a little okay after meeting his new classmates.

"Yeah, I'm okay," said Ayu. The little girl unlike her brother was always a little daring, but she was happy to have two of her old friends in her class, and even some new ones she made the other day.

"I'm sure you two will be fine, but I do need you kids to hurry and eat breakfast. I also need to get to work, and make sure you get there on your first day," said Kotoko, as she ate the last of her breakfast.

"Oh if you think you're going to be late, we can get the kids to school," spoke up Mrs. Irie looking excited. "Besides Doctors and Nurses shouldn't be late to work. Everyone could tell she really was planning something, and also did want to take the kids to school.

"Um, its okay I can always call ahead, and the head nurse already knows ahead that I might be late today," said Kotoko trying to be polite.

Mrs. Irie was a little disappointed, but did understand. After a while everyone was either headed off to school or work.

"You know mommy maybe we should have let Nana come with us," said Ayu. "I think she is now felling lonely since we aren't going to be with her during the day any more.

"Oh my," they heard from behind.

"Probably not as lonely as you think sweetie," said Kotoko knowing all too well that her aunt was behind some trees, taking pictures. She couldn't wait to see them later.

Finally they had gotten to the school as some of the other children had walked in. Quickly she made sure their uniforms were straitening, after she was done giving them squeezing hugs. "Alright make sure to be home at a reasonable time, and call me if you need to be picked up…"

"We know mom, we will be okay," stated Yuga.

However, even though he said that Kotoko could still tell that her kids did still look a little nervous. "It will be okay you two," said Kotoko patting their shoulders. A smile came over her face, as she saw a couple of her friend's kids coming over to them, especially a pretty little girl around her son's age.

"Yuga, Ayu, you ready for the first day of your new school?" asked Riko waving at them.

"Uh, yeah; bye mom," called Yuga as he ran off to his to his new classmates.

"Bye mommy," called out Ayu also running after her brother.

Kotoko just smiled at her kids as they mingled with their new friends. It reminded her of the old days of when she was in school. She may have not been the smartest student, but she had good times with her friends.

As she walked off to work she passed a coffee shop thinking it might be a good idea to get some coffee. However, what she did not expect was to run into one of the top three doctors at her hospital.

"Kotoko?"
