(A/N): Hello everyone, and hello June! I'm back with another chapter, and there might be another chapter later today. I hope everyone is being safe and being kind to one another. I know a lot is going on but we still must keep going. 2020 well be over before we know it. That's all for now, I do not own MK-LT!

Ch. 49

"Kotoko?"

"Dr. Nishigaki?"

Said doctor smiled at her holding up his coffee. "What a surprise to see you here this morning?"

"Well I just dropped off my kids at school, and since I was already running little late, I decided to get a cup of coffee," stated Kotoko returning only a little smile.

"Oh that's right," Dr. Nishigaki said snapping his fingers. "I almost forgot they started school this week." Smiling down at her he got a little plan rolling in his head. "How about I buy you a cup of coffee to help celebrate your kids first day of school." At the expression on her face told him maybe this was a bad idea.

Kotoko could tell that the doctor was regretting those words after she apparently made a face at his gesture. "I'm sorry, it's just well, 'the celebrating my kids go back to school thing,'" explained Kotoko. "My kids are starting a new school and I'm just nervous for them."

Dr. Nishigaki just smiled a little at how worried Kotoko was over her kids, and how it wasn't the idea of him buying her a cup of coffee. "Then how about a cup of tea to help settle your nerves?" he asked pointing to himself. At that Kotoko actually gave him a slightly bigger smile and accepted his offer.

After Kotoko had gotten her tea, both the doctor and the nurse walked to work just talking about anything that came to their mind, all the mean while not noticing someone had been watching them.

At the hospital Naoki had just started his rounds when he ran into Ns. Hosoi. "Ah, hello Dr. Naoki, how you this morning?"

Naoki gave the plum nurse a kind smile, and greeted her back. "I'm fine this morning, but do you know if Kotoko has arrived yet, I know she had to drop of the kids first…" he started to say.

"Actually I think I just saw her walk in not too long ago with Dr. Nishigaki," stated the nurse like it was nothing, but to Naoki it felt like he had just swolled something bitter.

"Um, you didn't happen to see which way they went did you? I actually need to tell Kotoko a couple of things about today's visitors," asked Naoki.

"I think they went that way?" answered the nurse wondering what had made the young doctor change his attitude a little.

"Thank you, I better is going," and with that Naoki walked off, leaving behind a confused nurse.

Naoki didn't know what he would do once he caught up to them, but he knew, or so he thought, had to protect Kotoko from that womanizer. However when he finally caught up to Kotoko she was coming out of the nurses office with three others talking.

His ears had quickly perked up when he heard their conversation. "So then why did you let him by a cup of tea?" asked one of the nurses giggling.

"I told you I kind of felt a little guilty over my apparent rejection over his coffee idea, so I let him buy me cup of tea to help calm my nerves over my kids going back to school," explained Kotoko trying to breath over her third explanation since she came in. 'Maybe I should have declined his offer.'

Before Kotoko or one of the other nurses could say anything else they had heard someone clear their voice. "Oh, Dr. Irie," exclaimed one of the nurses. "Can I help you with anything?"

Naoki, Kotoko, just cringed at that I part. "Actually I need to talk with Ns. Mikado, if that's okay with you two?" asked Naoki.

"Of course it is," said the first nurse dragging off the second nurse, before "she" or Kotoko could say anything else.

So finally Naoki and Kotoko were alone. Realizing probably what he wanted to talk about, as they had similar conversations over a certain doctor a number of times; Kotoko told him just to spit it out. And oh did he.

"Why were you with Dr. Nishigaki this morning?" Naoki bluntly asked the nurse.

"I was only with him because I bumped into him at a coffee shop, and since we work at the same building we just walked here with each other," explained Koko once more. She was really getting tired of people asking her this. After all she still wasn't up for dating, wasn't she?

Kotoko shook her head at that though and began to glare at the doctor. "Besides you of all people should know, AND REMEMBER that I still am only focusing on me and my kids right now."

Naoki finally looked like he was calming down, mainly because he didn't won't rumors about him and Kotoko floating around right now. "Your right, I'm sorry, but I don't really trust him to wait until you're ready to date again," stated Naoki looking really sincere.

At his almost pitiful look Kotoko almost wanted to giggle, but was happy none the less that Naoki really was looking out for her. "Naoki I really am glad that you are looking out for me."

At that moment Naoki was almost at his breaking point, however, thankfully another nurse interrupted them from whatever might have happened.

Finally the two started to get to work, hopping the kids would have a good first day of school.

But other thoughts were playing out too.

"I can't believe I almost kissed her."

"It looked like…no way he would do that… would he?"

"That guy was flirting with Kotoko-Chan!"

(A/N): Please everyone remember to look after everyone in safe distance. This is a time that we should hold hands for man who died at the hands of police brutality. Not all police are bad, and it's the ones who do wrong that leave our justice system in question. How can respect be given, if one doesn't receive it back? To all Black/African Americans I will stand with you in this difficult time, and to the police officers who do right by others I pray for your safety. Let's give our respect to the ones who have earned it.
