Ch. 55

(A/N): Okay, it's not long, but I have finally updated. Life is crazy, but we have to keep going. Happy New Year! I do not own MK-LT!

Ch. 55

Kotoko sat listening to Naoki talk as the rain outside poured. The man she once knew was gone, his cool demeanor was replaced by brokenness and guilt.

"A couple of years ago, after the first year we were married, we had decided to try to have a baby. We tried for two years, so one day I suggested we go see a doctor to see what we should do."

Naoki just sighed. "It's okay, take as much time as you need," said Kotoko as she placed a hand over his. Her warmth gave him a small since of clarity.

"Okay," said Naoki taking a breath, then he continued. "Both of us got tested to make sure that neither of us were the problem. We had heard nothing until Sahoko got a phone call, she told me that the doctor said we were fine and not to stress over the situation, that it just takes time. However, I found out a few months later that she had lied."

"What did the doctor say?" Kotoko saw his fist clench for a second before he took a breath. "She asked me how Sahoko was feeling after the news."

"Sahoko's doing fine, though she decided that she wants to start working at her grandfather's company. She said that while we are waiting for a child she wants to do something more beside staying at home."

"Hmm," said the other doctor looking thoughtful.

"Is something wrong Dr. Yoshi?" Naoki asked as the other doctor frowned.

"Well, I'm not that shocked that she wanted to go to work. Most women who are told that it is little to impossible to have children throw themselves into either work or other side projects. But I did give her other options of having children like adpo…"

"Wait are you telling me that Sahoko can't have children?" Naoki asked in shock in hearing what the doctor actually said.

"Well not necessarily, she can have children, just not with you." Noticing that the man looked pretty puzzled, Dr. Yoshi invited him to her office.

"She then explained to me that Sahoko and I were not compatible to have children together. Since then I have had to reasons as to why she never told me 1) It was pretty crushing news, so she lied about what the doctor said, and keep busy as possible, or 2) She lied to apiece her grandfather, and not have my family find out in the off chance they decided to forgo our marriage. But as we both know I don't think that would have happened."

"So if you two can't have children together, then…"

"She's having her assistant's baby. They have been together for a long time. I left them be for a full year once I found out, and kept my private investigator follow them for a few more months until I couldn't take it any more. I had enough proof for a divorce, but before I could hand her the papers…

"My husband died."

The two just stared at each other for what felt like hours.

"I had a feeling like you might come back, and I didn't want people to talk about you."

Tears formed in Naoki's eyes, "I've been such a horrible person, that I didn't even care that my wife cheated because I cheated first. I left you pregnant with our son, I have treated you both with no respect. I'm.."

His eyes grew wide as Kotoko held his face. "Yes, what you did was horrible. I was pregnant, but you never knew, not even your parents knew. I believe you tried your best to make Sahoko happy, but she gave up on you when she couldn't give you a baby, and but she is using you to make her grandfather happy. You and I have told the truth, but now it is her turn."

(A/N): Thank you to everyone who has waited passionately, and thank you to my my new followers as well.
