Chapter 4 – Continuation of Slideshow

Jane and Maura continued watching the slideshow. It was a slow process because they kept pausing the tape to talk about the picture on the screen. They were enjoying relieving the memories that were popping because of viewing the slideshow.

Picture: Picture of their four young children with fireworks in the background

Description: The children had been running around and as the sunset, Jane asked them to come over and have a seat because thefireworks were going to start going off soon, Maura was able to take the picture of the four of them with the fireworks in the background.

Jane paused the slideshow and said, "Oh my God, the kids had been running around and we had to get them to settle down to watch the fireworks, this reminds me of the fourth of July when Frankie and Nina got married."

July 4, 2012, Nina and Frankie's Wedding

"Do you remember when TJ ran down the aisle at Nina and Frankie's wedding with the rings instead of walking?" Maura asked Jane with a huge smile and a little laughter in her voice.

"Oh my God, that was so funny. I thought Frankie was going to have a hard attack. I'm sure he thought TJ was going to trip and lose the rings."

"TJ was so excited that he was the ring bearer. He is so cute, I love him so much." Maura stated.

"And he loves you so much. I have seen it for as long as he has been able to express it. He watched what I did, how I opened doors for you, hugged you and kissed you and he mimicked me. I had to be careful what I did with you when he was around. It was cute but also worrisome. He shouldn't be trying to kiss or hug you like I did. He had a huge crush on you. At least Tommy stopped crushing on you, thanks to Chloe. When he met her, he only had eyes for her."

"Yes, that was funny, but also scary. I am sure Nina was very concerned. Glad he held onto the rings and didn't lose them, that would have been traumatic." Maura said before restarting the slideshow.

Picture: Maurapinning Jane's Captain badge on her

Description: Jane was in her uniform and Maura had just pinned her new badge on her as she was just promoted to the rank of Captain. Maura had her arm wrapped around Jane's arm as they posed for the picture.

Jane reached for the remote that Maura was still holding and paused the slideshow. "Oh, that brings back memories of the next weekend when Ma took all four children and we had the whole house to ourselves for the weekend." Jane said as Maura snuggled further into and kissed her cheek and smiled at the memory.

There was a chill in the air. It was a Saturday in early October and Jane and Maura laid naked in their bed. They looked out their bedroom window and saw the chilly environment. The leaves blew gently in the trees and there was a light dew on the windows. Jane tightened her hold on Maura as they snuggled more into each other.

They loved being able to sleep in, well at least to stay in bed and just hold each other and spend a little adult time. They never seemed to be able to actually sleep beyond seven in the morning, as their bodies were used to getting up and going to work. They especially liked when they could be naked in bed. When you have four children under six, it didn't happen that often.

Maura turned to face her and then forcefully pushed Jane back on her back and climbed on top of her. She wanted to have her way with her wife. She used her foot to separate Jane's legs and slid both of her legs between Jane's. She started kissing Jane with a passionate kiss to the lips and then started moving south. Jane didn't stop her as she was enjoying Maura's lips kissing her all over.

After Jane's orgasm Maura moved back up kissing Jane's body as she went. When she reached Jane's lips they made out for a little bit before Jane flipped them over and reciprocated. They continued making love for over an hour until Jane's stomach insisted on being fed. Maura laughed and Jane just sighed. Her stomach was such a mood breaker sometimes. They dragged themselves to the bathroom and took a quick shower together before going downstairs to make some breakfast.

Jane had just been promoted to Captain the previous Tuesday. Angela said she would take the four children so that they could enjoy a quiet weekend to celebrate. Angela loved taking care of her grandchildren, although she did enlist some assistance. She asked TJ, Tommy and Chloe to come over after they woke up and they accepted. Angela was relieved. TJ was eleven and a half and was a big help with the children. MJ was five, AJ and Lilly were almost three and Kate was just over one.

Angela had had three children but there was more of age gap between them, almost two and a half years between each of the births. Jane and Maura's children were very close in age with only four years between all of them. She was up to the challenge but help would be easier on her and that is why she had asked Tommy and his family.

TJ and his parents arrived before nine and helped Angela get all the children fed and dressed for the day. The children were getting older and more active. She knew she would need assistance. She didn't want anything to happen to them on her watch. Like Jane, she was very protective of the children.

TJ loved playing with his cousins. Chloe had to go to work in the afternoon but she loved spending time with her nieces and nephews also. Tommy was just happy that he had found Chloe and that she had said 'yes' when he asked her to marry him. The Rizzoli's loved her and felt she was a great woman for Tommy.

Tommy met Chloe when Jane and Maura had given TJ a coupon for a fancy dinner as one of his gifts in his Advent Calendar. TJ was almost four at the time and had fallen in love with Chloe right away. She was a chef and that impressed him. She invited him to cook with her and he was so happy. Tommy and Chloe started texting back and forth and started dating within a few months. They got married three years later.

Before un-pausing the slideshow Jane leaned in and kissed Maura on the lips. Maura kissed her back and deepened the kiss before realizing they were supposed to be watching the slideshow and if they kept making out, they would end up naked and making love on the couch instead of watching the slideshow. Jane reluctantly un-paused the slideshow, thinking she would rather be making love to her wife, but on with the show.

Picture: Jane wearing her Air Force uniform with her unit members and a Humvee.

Description: Jane was posing in the gunner position holding onto her machine gun. She had her flak vest and helmet on as did the Army members of her unit that were posing with her in the picture.

Jane paused the slideshow again. She was a little sad and explained, "The man sitting in the driver's seat in this picture is my friend that was killed the day I was shot in the shoulder. We are all in the positions we were in that tragic day. Maybe I shouldn't have given Frost this picture to put in the slideshow."

Maura reached for both of Jane's hands and held them and told Jane, "Sweetheart, yes it was a tragic day but just like we talked about with the picture of you with your academy buddies, JJ was killed during 911, but he was a part of your life and you are who you are because of the people in your life. Our days on this Earth are not guaranteed and all we can do it live our lives to the fullest and try and be as happy as we can be in the process."

Maura then engulfed Jane in a hug and they sat there for a few moments while Jane processed her feelings. She remembered her conversation with Maura after they viewed her military photo album and they talked about JJ and Lorenzo and how much fun she had with them going through the academy. Granted she knew JJ longer but still the driver of her Humvee was a member of her team and she and her team were close during that deployment. When Jane recovered, she un-paused the slideshow.

Picture: Chloe posing showing off her engagement ring to Jane and Maura

Description: Tommy and Chloe had come over to Jane and Maura's to spread the news of their engagement and ask a favor of Jane and Maura.

Jane said, "Oh ya, I remember Tommy telling us how he proposed to Chloe."

Scene: Living room of Tommy Rizzoli's Apartment in Boston, Massachusetts

Date: December 31, 2014/January 1, 2015

At midnight on New Year's Eve, Tommy had dropped down to one knee and asked his girlfriend Chloe to marry him. After a moment of silence, as she was in shock, she shook her head and then said 'yes.' Tommy placed the one karat diamond ring on her finger and stood up and kissed her and then hugged her until she calmed down. When she composed herself, she said, "Oh my God Tommy, I had no idea you were going to ask me to marry you. I am so happy. You and TJ make me so happy. Does TJ know?"

"Yes, TJ helped me pick out the ring. He is so excited he asked if he could be my best man at our wedding." Tommy told his fiancée.

"Oh, how cute, I hope you told him yes." Chloe said.

"I did, he can't wait for us to get married. He wanted to stay up tonight, but he just couldn't stay awake. You can show him the ring when he wakes up." Tommy explained.

Chloe replied, "I will."

They talked for a few more minutes and then they went to bed. Once they got settled into bed Chloe said, "It has been a long few weeks at my restaurant and there have been quite a few special proposals. I always wondered how or if I would ever be proposed to. The way you proposed was perfect for me. I didn't need or want a fancy restaurant or extravagant proposal. Thank you."

Tommy leaned over and kissed her. "You are welcome."

The next day after telling TJ that they were now engaged the three of them decided that they wanted to get married on Valentine's Day. Tommy called and asked Jane and Maura, "Is it possible for us to come over and talk with you guys this morning?"

"Of course, Tommy, we were just getting ready to start breakfast, why don't you come over for breakfast and we can talk." Jane told her youngest brother.

"Okay, we can be there in about twenty minutes." Tommy said.

Jane replied, "Okay, we will see you then." Maura proceeded to pull out more ingredients for the additional people that would be having breakfast with them.

When Tommy, Chloe and TJ arrived they met Jane and Maura in the kitchen and Tommy was quick to say, "I asked Chloe to marry me, last night, we were wondering if we could have the ceremony in your backyard on Valentine's Day. We just want a small wedding and just to have a few friends and family. So, what do you think?" He was speaking so fast Jane had to have him repeat what he said a little slower.

Chloe held out her left hand and showed them the ring. Maura was so happy, she loved Chloe and was glad that she had finally found someone that she wanted to share her life with. Jane said, "Congratulations, I love the idea of a backyard wedding." She glanced over at Maura who nodded her head in agreement. "Of course, you guys can have your wedding in our backyard. Did you say Valentine's Day? Like in a few weeks?" Jane said in a hurried voice panicking a little that was only six weeks away.

"Yes." Chloe replied very calmly. She knew it could be done. "Maura would you be my maid of honor and assist me with the wedding planning?"

Maura said, "Of course, I would love to be your maid of honor and help you plan the wedding." Chloe was so thankful. She was swamped at work, she needed to hire another chef. She just hadn't found the right person yet.

Jane called Angela and asked if she could come over for brunch. Angela replied, "Yes, of course, I will be there in about fifteen minutes."

Tommy told his mother once she arrived. She volunteered to help plan the wedding with them. Jane didn't like that idea but it wasn't her wedding so she wished Tommy good luck with that one. Tommy just laughed at Jane and said, "at this point, I don't care, Chloe and I just want to get married. She can plan it with Chloe and Maura and I know Maura will help Chloe get at least some of the things she would like for our wedding."

"True, little brother, Maur will help her. Ma means well, she just can be a little overbearing at times. She just wants the best for each of us." Jane told her brother.

"She didn't seem to bug Frankie that much when he and Nina got married." Tommy stated.

"She didn't stand a chance against Nina's mother. Catherine is a force of nature just like Constance. If Chloe's parents were alive, I'm sure you would have to have a society wedding, or at least a destination wedding like I did."

"Ya, you are probably right. Chloe doesn't attend too many of those functions anymore since her parents have passed away. I understand Maura has to as a member of the Isles Foundation."

"Ya, but she loves attending those functions. I am not a huge fan of them but they make Maura happy and I want my wife to be happy. You know what they say a happy wife, equals a happy life. Plus, they are not that often, just a few a year and she attends sporting events with me so that evens out, not that we go for that but Maura likes for things to be fair. She actually enjoys going to the games with me now."

Chloe, Maura and Angela planned a lovely small Valentine's Day ceremony. Korsak agreed to officiate for them and TJ was Tommy's best man and Maura was Chloe's maid of honor. Chloe was so happy with how the wedding turned out. They had gotten married at 10 AM and the reception was a catered brunch that Arthur and Constance had provided as a wedding gift. They had known Chloe for years and they wanted to participate in the preparations. Chloe was delighted, she loved Constance and Arthur. Arthur had walked her down the aisle. They didn't have a honeymoon, they just spent the weekend in a hotel and both went back to work on Monday. They figured down the road they could have their honeymoon.

Picture: Jane and Arianna standing in front of the Neuschwanstein Castle

Description: Jane and Arianna posed at a distance for the castle so they could have their picture taken with the castle in the background.

Jane paused the slideshow again and said, "This was such a world-wind trip. It was one of the things I wanted to do before I left Germany and never got around to going so when I was on medical leave after I had healed enough from my gunshot wounds my supervisor said I could travel as long as I let him know where I was going and that I had somebody with me. My supervisor's wife went with us also. She had always wanted to go and her husband didn't really want to so she gladly went with us. We spent over two hours touring the castle. We had to work around Arianna's morning sickness but we still managed to have a great time. There are more pictures of that trip in my military photo album that we can look at later. I am just happy Frost was able to add some of the pictures from then in the slideshow."

Picture: Frost and Susie afterSusie pinned Frost's Deputy Superintendent badge on him.

Description: Side shot of Frost in his uniform as his wife, Susie, pinned his new rank on him. They both had huge smiles on their faces, the picture was taken right after almost 20-year-old MJ snuck up on stage to photo bomb the picture. Frost didn't know that MJ had photobombed the photo until they saw the picture later.

Frost was a Deputy Superintendent on the force. He was set for a promotion and to take Jane's place when she retired. He was Jane's second in command and was deserving of taking her place upon her retirement. Jane was so happy about that. Frost was her best friend next to Maura and she was always pleased with his accomplishments.

Her brother Frankie always felt like he was in Frost's shadow, feeling as if Jane cared more about Frost, then him. He was Jane's best friend until Maura and Frost came along. They were very friendly with each other still and loved to horse around with each other. Frankie was being promoted to take Frost's position.

Susie had lunch with Maura at least once a month, sometimes more if their schedules allowed it. She was very happy being a pediatrician and was so thankful that Maura had encouraged her to follow her dreams. Susie was working with MJ's wife, Chrissy, actually she was Chrissy's supervisor. They were becoming fast friends and that pleased Maura. Maura loved her daughter-in-law and was pleased that Susie would be there to look after her. Not that she needed looking after, but she knew it is nice to have someone that you can be friendly with at work.

Chrissy had a great reputation. She was a great pediatrician and they loved her in San Francisco. They hated to see her leave but they understood that she and her husband were returning home to Boston. They were both immediately hired at Mass General. MJ had been making great strides as a neurosurgeon. His research in the causes of migraines was ground breaking.

"Oh, that so reminds me of when MJ snuck up to help you pin Barry's badge on him when he was promoted to Sergeant and his parents couldn't attend the ceremony." Maura told Jane.

"Ya, that was unplanned but meant so much to Frost, he loves MJ." Jane responded before the next picture came on screen.

They continued to view pictures and pause the slideshow to share memories forgetting that there are over two hundred pictures, when Maura's alarm went off, they realized that they had only gone through about half of the pictures. They both hoped that there are no surprise pictures in the rest of the slideshow because they have to leave to go to Frankie and Frost's promotion ceremony and then it will be the family's promotion/retirement party where the slideshow will be shown.
