"Hey, there`s been something I`ve been meaning to ask you," said Makoto as he and Ishigami were playing Apex Legends on their Switches as they had a break before their next class. "What`s that?" Ishigami asked as he looked up. "Do you know what you`re going to do after college?" Makoto asked. "I never really gave it any thought, what about you?" Ishigami asked. "I`m a communications major, so I`ll probably just work at a generic office job, what`s your major by the way?" Makoto asked.

College majors, the field of study which determines the path that a college student takes in their life moving forward. Some majors are better than others, but that`s subjective to people`s opinions.

"Come to think of it, I haven`t declared a major yet," said Ishigami. "You haven`t? You should since that determines what classes you need to take to graduate" said Makoto. "I know that, but deciding on a major isn`t like deciding what build you want in an MMO RPG and changing it halfway through, this is important," said Ishigami. "If you`re having trouble deciding your major, why don`t you ask Professor Suzuki for some advice? He`s our college advisor" said Makoto. "I guess I`ll consider asking," said Ishigami as they continued playing their game.

Later

"Come to think of it, I never did think about what I want to do after college" Ishigami thought as he walked through the hallway. "Oh Ishigami," said a male teacher as he walked out of the office. "Oh, Professor Suzuki," said Ishigami as he bowed. "You seem to have something on your mind," said Suzuki. "Yeah, it`s only been the first two weeks of college and there`s a lot on my mind," said Ishigami. "I have some time to spare, why don`t you let an adult hear out your problems," said Suzuki. "Sure, I suppose I can use an adult`s opinion and Makoto suggested I speak to him," said Ishigami as he walked into the office.

"I see, so you haven`t decided on a career yet," said Suzuki as they were sitting at his office. "Yeah I never had a clear-cut career planned out" Ishigami replied. "Not to worry, it`s quite common for most students to not know what career they want to pursue," said Suzuki. "Oh, I guess it`s not as uncommon as I thought it was," said Ishigami as he seemed relieved to not be the only one with this issue. "So tell me a little more about yourself," said Suzuki.

"Well I was the Student Council Treasurer for a year before being the Student Council president for two years," said Ishigami. "I see, so you have quite some accomplishments under your belt," said Suzuki as he thought to himself for a moment. "Since you had experience being a treasurer, why not consider finance or accounting?" Suzuki asked. "Well, I`m not into just sitting at a desk all day doing numbers despite being good at it" Ishigami replied.

"Okay, do you have an idea of what you want to do in the future?" Suzuki asked as he poured some tea. "Never really thought about it, it was always going to college and figuring out it then," said Ishigami as he took a sip of tea. "What makes you stand out from others?" Suzuki asked. "Well, I`ve been told that I have a strong sense of justice and my willingness to help others during my time as president of the Student Council," said Ishigami. "I see, I`ve narrowed down some possible majors given what you`ve told me," said Suzuki as he put a piece of paper with career suggestions down on the table.

"Let`s see, law? That might be too much for me, accounting? I`m good with numbers, but I`d be bored with this, I could still consider it. Law? I don`t like getting into conflicts unless it`s absolutely necessary, besides we already have someone else majoring in law, so I`m still not too sure what I want to pick" said Ishigami as he looked at the choices. "Take some time to think about it, you don`t have to rush and make a decision right now, hope this helps," said Suzuki. "Thank you," said Ishigami as he bowed before leaving the office.

"What should I pursue?" Ishigami thought as he picked at his lunch. "Oh hey," said Miko as she walked up to Ishigami. "Oh, you`re having lunch too," said Ishigami as Miko sat down. "Yeah I have a class soon, so I need to," said Miko. "Can you finish that?" Ishigami asked as he saw the massive plate of curry and rice on Miko`s tray. "Hey did anyone not teach you to not question a lady when she`s eating," said Miko as she ate some curry.

"Whatever, how`s everything going with you so far here?" said Ishigami. "It`s been okay, but I notice that people are so much looser here than in Shuchi`in, there`s no discipline around here, maybe I should advocate for some more discipline" Miko ranted. "Now, now, this is college, no one cares about norms, just chill and go with the flow," said Ishigami. "Easy for you to say, I`m not a slacker like you," said Miko. "I swear this girl is going to give herself more stress than she needs," Ishigami thought as it seemed that this was still the same old Miko from their Shuchi`in days.

"I got a message from Rei, she told us all to meet up later," said Miko as she looked at her phone. "Oh wonder what that could be all about," said Ishigami as he went back to eating his lunch.

3:30 pm

"What`s all this?" Ishigami asked as the group gathered around in a open classroom for something as Rei had called for everyone to meet up. "Oh I brought some chocolate that my dad brought back from overseas," said Suzu. "Oh that`s nice of you, keep the chocolate away from this one," said Ishigami which earned him a punch to the arm from Miko. "Watch it," said Miko as she helped herself to some chocolate. "Now, now, you two, there`s no need to bicker now," said Kobachi. "I swear, they`re like an old couple," said Rei as it seemed that the two would find some reason to argue with each other.

"Thanks for the snacks Suzu," said Makoto as he took some chocolate. "No worries, you`re treating us next time to snacks right Akane?" said Suzu. "Maybe once I get my paycheck and a raise, what chocolate is this by the way?" said Akane.

"Oh that`s Godiva and this one is Ghirardelli," said Suzu. "Oh fancy," said Akane as she helped herself to another chocolate. "This is great, hanging out with friends and getting snacks," said Ishigami as he took a bite of chocolate as his phone rang. "Hang on a sec, I gotta take a call," said Ishigami as he excused himself to take the call.

"Hello, oh hey boss," said Ishigami as he picked up the phone. "Hey Ishigami, you coming to work today? I know you`re balancing work with college so it`s fine if you can`t make it" said Yui. "I`m fine, I`ll be there soon," said Ishigami as he ended the call." I gotta go to work, I`ll see you guys around," said Ishigami as he didn`t want to be late for work. "Leaving so soon?" Makoto asked. "Yeah, unfortunately, work takes priority," said Ishigami as he walked away leaving the group.

Later

"Everything okay? You look like a corpse, you had a fight with your girlfriend?" said Yui as Ishigami had other things on his mind. "It`s nothing, just trying to balance going to college and working," said Ishigami. "Listen, some of us were thinking about going out for dinner tonight, why don`t you join us? It might help clear your mind" said Yui. "I guess I`ll join," said Ishigami. "That`s the spirit, now show some energy, I need those new I phones and I pads unpacked," said Yui as she walked away leaving Ishigami to his work. "Guess I`ll get back to work," said Ishigami as he started unpacking some boxes.

7:00 pm

"Cheers," said everyone as they settled in at an izakaya for dinner. "So Ishigami, you just started at Tokyo University," said one of the male employees. "Yeah, it`s my second week there," said Ishigami. "How do you like it so far?" a female co-worker asked. "Hard to say, I`ve only been there a short period, but it feels so different from high school" Ishigami replied. "You`ll get used to it, I was like that when I was in college," said Yui as she bit some edamame.

"Which college did you attend?" Ishigami asked. "Tokyo University, just like you right now," said Yui. "Does everyone attend Tokyo University if they live in Tokyo?" Ishigami asked. "Well it`s considered the college that everyone wants to go to if they want to stay with their friends," said Yui. "I see, since you`re an alumni of the college, maybe you can tell me more," said Ishigami as he ate some of his fried rice. "Sure I can give you some more information," said Yui.

A bit later

"So what`s been bothering you?" Yui asked as she took a sip of her beer after telling Ishigami some more about Tokyo University. "Oh I`ve just been having trouble deciding my major," said Ishigami. "I see, you too huh? I remember being unsure what I wanted to go for when I first entered Tokyo University, what are your goals for the future?" Yui asked. "Well honestly, I just want to settle down with a decent job get married at some point, and play video games while I`m at it," said Ishigami to which Yui and the other employees chuckled.

"I`ve been meaning to ask, but do you plan to stay with us for the time being?" Yui asked. "What do you mean by that?" Ishigami asked. "Well, truth be told, there will come a time you will have to leave this job unless you want to seriously take over my role as I`m not sure if this job is sustainable for you in terms of salary," said Yui. "I mean, I`m not really in a rush to find a new job just yet, I`ll stick around for a little bit," said Ishigami.

"That`s good to hear, you are one of our most consistent workers for being so young, anyways don`t feel pressured to pick a major just because someone tells you it`s a good major, pick something that you`re comfortable with even if people tell you it`s not the best decision out there," said Yui, "Thanks for hearing me out boss," said Ishigami. "No worries, everyone eat up, dinner`s on me tonight," said Yui. "Well don`t mind if I do," said Ishigami as he ordered some chicken skewers.

"See you tomorrow, get home safe," said Yui as everyone went their separate ways following dinner. "Man I really need to make a decision soon, I`m not getting any younger," Ishigami thought as he hopped on his bike and rode home.

"So now it`s between accounting or something that involves leadership" Ishigami thought as he narrowed the choices down for his major. "Accounting was my specialty before I became president, but can I make it as a career?" said Ishigami as being good at something does not mean you enjoy doing it. "There`s a chance that my father might ask me to take over the factory, so maybe it`ll be good to have more knowledge of the business world," Ishigami thought as taking the business route was always an option.

"I think business management might be the course to go down, I handled myself well enough as the Student Council president, all that`s left is to tell professor Suzuki that I`ve made my decision," said Ishigami as he felt his experience as president would make him suitable to be a leader in the business world.

Two Days Later

"You decided on a major yet?" Makoto asked as they were sitting in the gaming club room. "Well kinda," said Ishigami as he was playing on his Switch. "Hey Akane said that she was planning to invite us all over to dinner tonight, you wanna come?" Makoto asked. "Who`s gonna be there?" Ishigami asked. "It`ll be me, you, Hiroshi, Akane, Suzu, Rei, Miko and Kobachi" Makoto replied

"The usual group huh? Sure I`m down," said Ishigami. "Perfect I`ll let her know then, by the way, if you said you`ve decided on your major, why don`t you tell Professor Suzuki about your decision?" said Makoto. "I might go a bit later," said Ishigami.

"There you are, are you planning to play video games all day? Let`s go, English class is about to start," said Miko as she opened the door to the room. "Oh yeah, give me a sec, I`ll see you later," said Ishigami as he high-fived Makoto before leaving the room with Miko. "By the way, I heard from the others that you hadn`t decided on a major yet, that`s kind of surprising," said Miko. "Yeah I know, I think I might have finally decided on my major," said Ishigami. "I hope so for your own sake," said Miko as they walked into the lecture hall.

Afternoon

"Have you decided on what major you want to pursue?" Suzuki asked as Ishigami took a seat. "Yes, I would like to declare my major to be business management," said Ishigami. "Okay I think that`s a good major for someone who wants to be a future leader, what about your minor?" Suzuki asked. "Oh I guess I`ll minor in game design," said Ishigami as he decided that his minor should be something that he already enjoyed doing.

"Perfect, now it seems that you know what your future looks like down the road, now I have to explain to you which classes you`ll need to take to graduate," said Suzuki. "Wait, there`s more?" Ishigami asked. "What, you thought all you had to do was decided your major, no no, there`s still a lot we have to get through now that you`ve made your decision," said Suzuki as he took out some paper. "You gotta be kidding me, is college supposed to be this tedious?" Ishigami thought as Suzuki started to explain the process.

Yep, welcome to college life buddy.

20 minutes later

"Alright, so you can still stick with your schedule, but you`ll have to take these classes to graduate," said Suzuki as he explained the prerequisites required to graduate. "Whoa that`s a lot," said Ishigami as he was processing what he needed. "It is, but at least you know what you`re going to be doing here, doesn`t it feel better that you know your path now," said Suzuki. "Yeah it feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulder," said Ishigami.

"Why don`t you reward yourself for getting through this, you deserve it," said Suzuki. "I am, I going out with friends tonight," said Ishigami. "That`s good, it`s always important to have lots of friends, I have a meeting to attend so we should get going," said Suzuki as he got up. "Well at least I can relax now," Ishigami thought as he walked out of the room.

7:00 pm

"So you finally decided on a major," said Makoto as they were all gathered for dinner at a bbq restaurant. "Yeah, I did" Ishigami as he took a sip of his drink. "That`s great, at least now you don`t have to worry about deciding your path anymore," said Hiroshi. "Well there`s the matter of going through the process now," said Ishigami. "You`ll be fine, you got this," said Makoto as he gave Ishigami a pat on the shoulder.

"Hey boys, better dig in before we take all the meat for ourselves," said Akane as she scooped a piece of beef on her plate. "We`ll worry about that later," said Ishigami as the rest of the boys helped themselves to the meat. "I would like to propose a toast, to our friend Ishigami for getting through his hurdle," said Makoto as he raised his glass. "Cheers," said everyone as they tapped glasses together.

"Wow Akane, it`s so nice of you to treat us, did you get paid this week or something?" Suzu asked as she put some vegetables on the plate. "Well yes and also I got some money from my grandparents," said Akane as she pulled out some bills from her pocket. "I see, try not to blow through it in one go, you still gotta pay for rent this month," said Suzu. "Don`t worry, I`ll manage one way or another" said Akane.

"What major did you end up going with?" Miko asked Ishigami. "Oh, I chose business management" Ishigami replied. "Oh I see, I guess I could see you taking that path, let`s hope you can stay with it," said Miko as she took some more meat. "Whoa slow down there Miko-chan, leave some for us," said Kobachi. "Leave me some steak, I haven`t tried any of it yet," said Rei as it seemed that a certain someone was taking a bit too much from the grill.

"Waiter, another order of steak and beef," said Miko to which Akane sighed as it seemed that Miko might clean her wallet out. "Yeah I hope this is the right path for me, but for now, I can relax," said Ishigami as the night was still young.

"Thanks for chipping in as well, I know I promised I would treat you all," said Akane as they walked out of the restaurant. "It`s cool, this one ordered too much so as a friend I decided to help as well," said Ishigami as he paid part of the bill due to Miko ordering a bit too much. "Hey, I didn`t order that much. Oh, I think I ate too much, Ishigami, can you give me a ride home?" Miko asked as it seemed that she got a bit more than she bargained for. "Sure, just try not to get sick in the back," said Ishigami as it seemed that Ishigami was used to being a chauffeur much to his joy.

"Alright, we should get going, see you guys tomorrow," said Makoto as everyone went their separate ways. "Go slow okay?" said Miko as she got on the back of the bike. "I`ll try, hang on tight," said Ishigami as they rode off.

Later

"I`m home," said Ishigami as he walked into his house. "Oh welcome home Yu, oh that reminds me, me and your father need to talk to you about something," said Mrs. Ishigami to which Ishigami paused for a moment. "Oh okay, just let me settle down for a bit," said Ishigami as he went into his room.

"What do you want to talk about?" Ishigami asked as he sat at the table. "Listen Yu, me and your father have been thinking about this for a while, but we think it would be best if you moved out and lived on your own for a while," said Mrs. Ishigami. "Eh?" said Ishigami as this was the last thing he was expecting to hear.
