The Surge
Footage of Lloyd and Melissa facing off against the Overlord on top of Garmatron Tower was shown as we heard a familiar voice speaks up. "The Ultimate Battle," it said before Lloyd and Melissa were shown unleashing the power of the Golden and Silver Dragons and defeating the Overlord. "The battle that would end all battles." Ninjago City was then bathed in a golden light as Darkness that once covered the land vanished.
"It seems like ages ago. After the Ninjas of Yin and Yang defeated the Overlord," the voice said as the footage cut to the Ninja and their allies walking up and coming together for a group picture, "Much of Ninjago City was in ruin." The video shifted to Ninjago City in the aftermath of the battle before it changed to people fixing and reconstructing everything. "It was a time to reflect on our past, and build for our future."
Overlooking the construction efforts was a dark haired man with glasses in a wheelchair. "Great work people. Together we can do it!" The Man said encouragingly, "Transportation group, align with engineering," The man told them as two men placed a sign up and then it sped forward to when the city became more futuristic.
"Ninjago City soon became… New Ninjago City," the voice continued as a man was seen driving a flying vehicle. "And it became the epicenter of great technological advancements." It was then cut to a desert where an old car was left out and a Serpentine skull was left as well. "But without an enemy to fight, the Age of the Ninja came to an end."
The scene then changed to the bathroom shower as someone was heard singing and in the mirror was Jay holding a camera with a sneaky grin, the singing stopped when it heard Jay's footsteps as it turned out to be Kai as he poke his head out of the shower while his hair has a shower cap.
"Hey! How about a little privacy, you…!" Kai shouted before laughter could be heard before the video malfunctioned.
"Oh! That's not supposed to be in here!" Kai said as it revealed him, two years older, in a classroom where a bunch of young kids were laughing. He was showing them a movie that had been tampered with. "Lights please!" he said as the lights turned on as he tried to stop the tape but then the wheel broke off and it rolled away. "Ugh! Seriously?!" he groaned.
Then a young boy came in. "Come quick! Mr. Zane is on the fritz!" he said as they all ran out of the room.
In a different classroom Brad was pressing a bunch of buttons on a remote while the other students laughed and Zane was dancing on his desk uncontrollably. "Up. No, down. Whoa!" Zane cried out as he kept on moving around crazily.
"What's going on here?" Cole asked as he and Kai entered the room to see what was happening. He then gave a serious look to the students as he made his way over to Brad.
"Brad got an ultra remote from New Ninjago City, and it's controlling Mr. Zane," a girl student answered before she noticed the serious look on Cole's face as he took the remote away from Brad and started to fiddle with it.
"How do you turn this thing off?" Cole asked as he started pressing the buttons and Zane was looking more out of control as his head and arms started spinning.
"Hurry up Cole!" Zane pleaded as he kept on dancing. "My liquid spirit level… is making me less… level!"
Cole then smashed the remote against the desk as Zane stopped moving and slumped down in relief while the students groaned.
"Mr. Cole is the worst!" Brad said.
"I heard that!" Cole said as the Bell rang and the students all charged out of the room as Kai chased after them. "Ahh, Recess, my favorite time of the day." He said as he and Zane sigh in relief.
Eversince the Ultimate Battle, the Ninja took in jobs as teachers at Lloyd and Melissa's old school, which was now called "Sensei Wu Academy", the Ninja are not excited as teachers, but at least they kept busy with no more battles to fight.
While the students are outside, the Ninjas are in the teachers' lounge as Jay opened the refrigerator looking for something but had a frown on his face before he closed the door.
"All right, who took my pudding cup?" Jay asked the others. "My name was clearly written on it." Cole was sitting on the couch, eating said pudding.
"I didn't see 'Motor Mouth' on it," Cole said in a smug tone as he threw the cup away when he was done.
Jay growled. "That's it, I'm telling the headmaster!" He told him as he turned to Wu who was pouring herself a cup of Tea.
"Leave me out of this." Wu told him. "I'm on break, too."
Jay sighed as Kai pulled out his own pudding. "Relax Jay, you can have mine," he told him, tossing him the pudding.
Jay caught it and looked at scrutiny, "But this isn't cold." He whined as Zane pressed some buttons on his arm and sprayed the pudding, freezing it to make it cold. "Oh, give me. Mm." Jay sighed as he sat down. "Is anyone else chapped that Lloyd and Melissa get to be the heroes and fly around, accepting awards, jobs, and calls for help while we're stuck here being teachers with no powers? Ah. I miss our elemental weapons."
After the battle, the Ninja gave up their Elemental Blades as they no longer had any need for them, meaning that they have no powers, again. Meanwhile Lloyd and Melissa kept their powers so they could protect Ninjago with the powers of the First Spinjitzu Master in them.
"And speaking of Lloyd and Melissa, I wonder how those two are doing considering that they are now boyfriend and girlfriend." Cole wondered.
"Heh, I bet they are hanging around a beach on a private spot somewhere." Kai said with a smirk.
"That is if they could get any privacy." Zane spoke up. "With how popular Lloyd and Melissa are they are most likely desperate for privacy with each other."
"Heheh, that sounds about right." Jay said with a chuckle. "Makes me relieved that Nya and I weren't that popular when we first started dating."
And then, Nya, wearing a new light blue and silver dress, came into the room as she quickly shut the door as she started panting as the students started calling from behind the door.
"Hi Miss Nya! I love your dress, Miss Nya!" A boy's voice called out.
Nya sighs as she shakes her head and walks up to the boys. "Why is it when I teach, I get the feeling that none of the boys are listening?" Nya complained.
Jay went up to her. "Hi, Miss Nya. I saved you some pudding," He said in a dumbfounded tone.
"What did we talk about?" Nya told him with a raised brow.
Jay then blinked as he remembered. "Oh, right. Boundaries." He then backed off as Nya turned to them.
"Hey, did you guys hear the news?" Nya asked as the Ninja sat up immediately.
"There's trouble?!" Kai asked as he did a fighting pose.
"Danger?!" Jay asked.
"An emergency?!" Zane asked.
"Oh, a new menace?!" Cole asked as he flipped and did a fighting pose. They waited in anticipation for an answer until Nya spoke up.
"No, we got clearance for a field trip," Nya told them before they groaned in disappointment. "But not just any field trip. A field trip to Borg Industries at New Ninjago City."
Jay gasped and squealed. "Not the Borg Industries!" He said and started spinning around, "As in, home to super genius reclusive savant Cyrus Borg? Inventor of the hover car and everything else cool in this world-?" Before he could go on, Zane kicked him.
"Who cares about Cyrus Borg?" Kai rolled his eyes as he went to get himself some tea. "If you ask me, people should concern themselves with the lessons of the past. Not waste their time on the disposable fads of tomorrow when-" When he turned back to the others, they'd already left the room. "Oh."
A little later, everyone was boarding the Bus to New Ninjago City but there was one who wasn't happy with their mode of transportation.
"Why can't we take the Ultra Dragon or the Ultra Sonic Raider?" Brad complained with a look as Cole entered the bus.
"Because they don't have one of these," Cole added as he held up the bus's microphone. "Pretty cool, huh?" He said as he spoke into it. "I'm on a microphone! I am the MC! The Mighty Cole!" All the students on board let out a groan.
"Mr. Cole is the worst," Brad whispered.
"I heard that!" Cole told him before he sat down with his arms crossed.
"So we really are going back to the city," Kai commented as she sat in another chair beside Cole. "We haven't been there since-well, you know."
"Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has not yet come," Wu said as he was the last one to board. "We only have today. Or else this offer expires. Get a move on, Nya!" He told Nya in the driver seat.
"Aye-aye, Sensei!" Nya saluted as she started the bus and it drove away.
Meanwhile in the Dark Island, Lloyd and Melissa were just relaxing by the beach that's near the Island.
"Now this is more like it. No paparazzi, no fans hounding us, just the two of us." Lloyd said with a smile.
"Exactly, because I swear I was gonna lose it if another one of those damn paparazzi ruined our date." Melissa said in amusement. "And I gotta give credit to my father, he may have been evil, but with him gone, the Dark Island isn't so dark. And it does make a great resort."
"We are definitely coming back here if we just want some alone time together." Lloyd suggested.
"Yeah." Melissa said with a smile. "If we're not too busy protecting Ninjago that is. Granted, we've stopped a few bad guys here and there, but no major big villain has happened since the final battle."
"I wonder what the others are doing right now." Lloyd wondered.
"If I had to guess, probably dying for some action and missing their powers." Melissa said with a teasing smirk. "While also having a hard time teaching our old classmates at our old school."
"Heh, yeah that's probably what's happening." Lloyd said as the two shared a chuckle. "So what do you wanna do now?"
"Well we are at a beach in the Dark Island, wanna go for a swim?" Melissa asked.
"That sounds good, but did you pack our bathing suits?" Lloyd asked.
"I did, although we could skinny dip." Melissa said with a smirk, causing Lloyd to blush heavily and stammer before Melissa bursted out laughing. "Hahaha! Oh my God, Lloyd, I was just messing with you, you are too easy to tease."
Lloyd gave a slight sheepish blush and an awkward smile. "You just can't stop teasing, can you?" He asked with a small smile.
"It's fun to see my boyfriend a nervous wreck when I suggest those kinds of things." Melissa said with a slight giggle. "Besides, you did see me semi-naked before. And also, you're just easy to mess with even before we became Ninja."
Lloyd blushed furiously when she reminded him of the time he accidentally walked in on her changing her clothes. "I-I still didn't mean to walk in on you while you were changing." He said sheepishly.
"I know Lloyd, and besides… I didn't mind you walking in at all." Melissa whispered in his ear, which made Lloyd blushed even more as Melissa gave a sly smirk. "Now, come on. Let's change into our bathing suits." She said as she stood up and walked behind the bushes.
Lloyd watched her walk off and just shook his head with a smile. "That girl knows how to drive me crazy." He commented before he stood up and went to change into his bathing suit as well behind the bushes.
After a long drive the Ninja and their students arrived at the New Ninjago City, but it didn't look anything like how they remembered. They saw solid hologram highways above them with hover cars and bikes that left a trail of light as they rode. Street lights that hovered above the ground, vending machines that gave whoever used it what they wanted, and even billboards that hover above the roads.
The students and the Ninja gaze at the city in awe. "Welcome to New Ninjago City. The future is what we make it!" A recording on the Billboard said as they rolled past.
"Wow." Nya said in awed. "You leave the city for two years and everything-" Nya was interrupted when she made a sharp turn and bumped into the mailman's mail car.
"Ugh! Who still uses wheels anymore?!" The mailman complained. "Get with the program!" Cole then got off the bus and went over to him.
"Don't worry, we'll free you up," Cole assured him. "Time for some old school muscle tool." He was about to get his new mail car out of the way before a robot came over.
"Stand back, pedestrian," It told Cole.
"Who are you calling 'pedestrian'?" Cole asked the robot as if to insult him.
"It seems as though our help is not wanted," Zane said as they all walked out while the robots fixed the accident.
Wu then stepped out. "Well, I prefer traveling the old-fashioned way—on foot," he told them as the others stepped out too. "Besides, it's not like we can't find where we're going." He then pointed to the tallest building in the city.
As the Ninja and their students walked towards the building they didn't notice that someone was hiding behind an alleyway watching them.
"So, the Ninja have returned huh, about time if you ask me." The person said in a female voice before disappearing in the Alleyway.
The group walked into the building, but Kai got stuck by the door as he tried to get free,
"Welcome to Borg Industries," A chrome, silver-haired, and open-circuited female robot with green eyes and wearing a purple body suit that left her left arm exposed, walked down the stairs and greeted the group. "I am Pixal, Cyrus's Primary Interactive X-ternal Assistant Life-form." As she spoke, Zane looked at her in awe at first sight. "I'm sorry to hear about the traffic accident."
"Wow, news travels fast." Cole commented.
"Everything in New Ninjago City is fully automated and interconnected," Pixal explained. "Your antiquated bus should be ready shortly." She then turned her attention to Zane. "You are Zane, a droid like me. What does Zane stand for?"
"I stand for peace, freedom, and courage in the face of all who threaten Ninjago," Zane declared before Jay walked up to him.
"She means your name, tin head. What does 'Zane' stand for?" Jay told him.
Zane realized his mistake and turned back to Pixal. "I guess I'm just Zane," He replied unsurely.
"Permission to scan?" Pixal asked as Zane saw his reflection in her eyes.
Zane stammered as his eyes reflected her face in turn. "Uh… Permission granted?" he said uneasily as Pixal began to scan him.
"Heh, check it out," Jay whispered to Nya. "Zane has an admirer."
"I think it's sweet." Nya smiled.
"Your hardware is outdated and your processor is slow and incompatible with ours," Pixal robotically assessed when she was done scanning. "Peculiar. All droids must recharge our batteries, yet curiously, I'm unable to locate your energy source." She then placed a hand where his heart was. "What powers you?"
"I, uh... I don't know," Zane said with a blush on his face.
"Mr. Borg would like to see the Ninja on the one-hundredth floor," Pixal said as she gestured to the elevator. "If the others would follow me for the rest of the tour."
Kai managed to get himself free from the door as he rushed to the others to the elevator. "Seriously?" He groaned, really hating technology.
Zane stayed where he was as he stared at where Pixal was as the others went to the elevator.
"Hey, Zane, you with us?" Cole called out as Zane snapped out of it and rushed to the others to the elevator.
As the four rode the elevator, the camera on top of the buttons turned to them as Kai pressed a button to the top floor as they went up as the computer then started scanning the Ninja.
"Black Ninja, Blue Ninja, Red Ninja, White Ninja, Golden and Silver Ninjas not identified. Wait for action."
The others followed Pixal into two rooms filled with inventions. "Mr. Borg believes technology is the key to making our dreams come true." She told the group as they were amazed at the inventions in the room.
The students gasped in awe. "Whoa. Cool beyond cool."
"Awesome." A boy said.
"Uber-mega. I'm like, wow!" Brad finished.
"Even now, he is working on a Digiverse where the gamer will be digitally scanned in to take gaming to another level," Pixal explained, gesturing to a man playing a VR fighting game.
"Whoa! They have Perfect Match consoles!" A girl shouted with excitement as Nya walked to a group standing next to two machines with hearts all over it.
"What's Perfect Match?" Nya asked, walking over to the consol.
"It's the latest craze," Another girl told her as she and the other three grouped around it. "It finds your perfect partner with flawless results. You should try it, Miss Nya."
"I doubt a machine could know-" Nya started as she stepped on the platform as the perfect match turned on.
"Hello, Nya Smith. You are an independent, self-confident young woman who refuses to be in a boys' club." The computer spoke as Nya was surprised by that since it really knows her. "Analyzing match now." It said as the hearts lit up and the silhouette of a man appeared on the screen.
"Of course it's gonna be Mr. Jay." Another girl said to Nya, as she smiled as well knowing well her perfect match would always be Jay. They all looked at the console, but then they gasped at what they saw as Nya stepped back.
It was a hologram of Cole on the Perfect Match machine, not Jay at all. "Mr. Cole?" A girl asked in shock.
"Oh no, Mr. Jay is not gonna be happy about this." Another girl said in worry.
"Promise you will not tell anyone." Nya pleaded as the girls nodded their heads in understanding as Nya looked at Cole's hologram in shock and confliction. "If Jay finds out about this, he's gonna explode." She said to herself, knowing that Jay isn't gonna like this one bit.
Meanwhile the Ninja had reached the one-hundredth floor and saw a man on his desk at the other end of the room.
"I would have guessed Ninja to sneak in a window, not use the elevator," The man said as Jay let out a gasp.
"Oh my gosh! Are you-? Are you-?" he stuttered.
"Cyrus Borg? Yes," the man answered. "Unfortunately, when my parents gave me a name like that, my future in technology was predetermined." He came around the desk and they all were speechless to see robotic artificial spider limbs on his legs. "Ah, yes, these. Sadly, I've been disabled all my life. But it's nothing my mind couldn't fix." He then turned towards Zane. "Speaking of which, my deepest condolences, Zane. I heard about your father." He said as he walked up to Zane. "Oh, he was a brilliant mind. He would've fit right in."
"Thank you. But loss is inevitable." Zane said, since sometime after the final battle with the Overlord, Dr. Julien was near his end with his age catching up to him, which Zane spent what time he had with his father left before his passing again, which he accepts and will carry on his father's memories.
"Today maybe, but not tomorrow," Borg said with a smile. "Technology, making the impossible possible. The only limit to our potential is that which we don't dream,"
Kai was looking around the place until he recognized the spot the tower was built on. "Isn't this the same spot where the Overlord was destroyed?" he asked as Borg had to look away in frown as he looked scared. "Who dreamed up the idea of building a corporate headquarters here?"
"Ah, what better way to send a message to evil that we won't cower to anyone," Borg said as he looked around. "I see. Or better yet, I don't see either the Golden Ninja or the Silver Ninja." He noted, not seeing Lloyd or Melissa with has he secretly sigh in relief.
"Oh, their hands are a bit full," Cole said as the scientist glanced at the cameras,
"Yeah they are either accepting another award, doing Ninja work or they are on another date." Kai said with a chuckle.
"But we can tell them to stop by when we see them." Cole told him.
"No, no, no!" Borg quickly said. "I'm glad it's just the four of you. In fact, I want to give you all a gift." He then went over to a corner and pulled something with a curtain over it.
"A gift? Won't say no to that." Cole said in interest. "It wouldn't happen to be cake, would it?"
Borg then removed the curtain and revealed it to be a statue of himself made of gold, as a recording of his voice played out. "The future is what we make it."
Cole and the others looked a bit underwhelmed. "Huh, so no cake," he remarked.
"Oh, wow. A statue. Of yourself," Kai tried to say it with enthusiasm but no luck.
"I know!" Jay shouted with enthusiasm. "How cool is that?!"
Cole, Jay, and Zane moved to grab the statue but Borg pulled Kai away before he could help. "Please, protect them with your life. All of Ninjago depends on it." He whispered to Kai.
"Protect? Protect what?" Kai asked.
"You were right, I should never have built here," Borg added as the camera moved to them. "You must go. He's listening."
"He?" Kai repeated as Borg walked back to his desk.
"Uh, I'm sorry to cut this short, but there's things to invent!" Borg told them as if he was trying to get them out of here but keeping it as casual. "I hope you can show yourselves out!"
"Ah, okay. Of course," Cole said before he and the other Ninja picked up the statue as Cole turned to Kai. "A little help?"
Kai then turned to his friends, "Oh, yeah." He said as he rushed to the others and helped them lift the statue. "Guys, something weird is up with Borg." He said suspiciously.
"They're called artificial limbs, Kai." Jay reminded him. "I know you hate machines, but you don't have to be rude. We're his guests."
"No I mean, he was acting suspicious. Like he was scared." Kai said as they entered the elevator. "He said we had to protect them with our lives." He said.
"Them? Who?" Cole asked in confusion.
"I don't know, but-" Kai was cut off when the elevator closed behind him, which started him as he turned and let go of the statue, which the others lost grip as they dropped it on the floor as it broke.
"Oh great, look what you did!" Jay shouted at Kai before Zane noticed something odd about the statue.
"It's hollow. There's something inside." Zane pointed out as Cole saw something in it. He then brought out six modern-looking Gi's in the colors of the Ninja.
"Why would he give us new Ninja outfits? And there are ones for Melissa and Lloyd too with their old colors." Cole asked as he inspected each one. "Guys, I hate to admit it, but maybe Kai is onto something." He admitted.
Kai then noticed four strangely-shaped golden objects, "And what exactly are these things?" He wondered, holding two of the gold objects up.
The elevator lights then turned red as an alarm went off. "Techno Blades located. Apprehend." They heard a computerized voice saying when they noticed the lights turned red. "Will the assailants stand down and drop the Techno Blades?" The computer requested them.
"First you call us pedestrians, and now we're assailants?" Jay complained.
Meanwhile, Zane was pushing buttons on the control panel. "Nothing works. Perhaps a malfunction?" he asked before Kai realized what the golden objects were.
"Guys, these must be the Techno Blades," Kai told them. "The things we have to protect with our very lives."
"Have it your way. Goodbye." The Computer said as the Elevator started dropping at breaknecking speed as the Ninja were pinned to the ceiling.
"Ah! Let the elevator have the Techno Blades, Kai!" Jay cried out. "I think it's made its point!"
"We have to get out of here!" Cole shouted before Kai noticed a way out on the roof that they were being forced on as it was going down.
"Going up?" Kai asked before he struggled to stand on his legs before he jumped up and knocked the escape hatch on top of the elevator.
"NINJA, GO!" The others shouted as they did Spinjitzu and spun their way out of the elevator and onto the roof. It was still going at high speed until Zane looked over the edge and saw the other elevator going up.
"There!" Zane told the others as they timed it right and jumped on to the other elevator.
Down in the lobby two Borg Employees were hanging around, "I'm bored." One sighed.
"Really?" The other asked as he smiled, "Well, me too, actually." He admitted as the elevator crashed into the ground as it exploded, startling the guards as they turned to it.
Back on the other elevator the twelve were catching their breath.
Cole started passing around the outfits. "Looks like we just quit our day jobs," He said.
Jay then gasped in alarm. "Oh my gosh! Our students, Wu and Nya!" He said in panic.
Pixal soon led the group into the factory line where robotic arms were working on vehicles at that very moment. "And this is our factory line where-" The lights suddenly turned red as her eyes changed too and the arms' lights turned red and redirected their attention towards the tour group. "This will be the end of your tour."
The machines started going crazy as it went from a factory line to a death trap room as Wu knocked the arms and saws away as he pushed Pixal back.
"Stay back and stay together!" Nya told the students, as an arm was coming for them before she kicked it back.
"This way, there's a way out!" Brad called out as he pointed to some windows nearby and the students followed him onto a conveyor belt.
"No! Do not break formation!" Nya shouted as the students were in danger as a buzz saws was blocking their path and an arm started to grab at them. "Why don't boys ever listen to me?!" She asked before she rushed over to protect the students.
Meanwhile on the upper levels, the Ninja rode the elevator to one the floors as the elevator opened as the Ninja hopped out as they are now wearing new suits with masks that left their hair exposed as each of them held a Techno Blade.
Jay looked at them as he inspected their new Gis. "Heh. I gotta say, I love the new threads." He commented as security mechs then started marching towards them.
"Oh yeah? Two can play in this game!" Kai said before he thrusted his Techno Blade forward but nothing happened. "What's with these things?! How do we turn them on?!" As the bots came closer, the others backed away a bit before Zane noticed the chandelier right above the robots and got an idea.
"Here, let me try!" Zane told them as he swung his Techno Blade only for it to bounce off the wire to the chandelier. "It's not sharp! Why even call it a Blade?!"
They ran until they were cornered. The robots fired at them but they dodged, however the blasts hit the window and it began to crack.
At that moment, the boys knew they screwed up. "...Oh snap," Jay squeaked. The window soon broke and the force of the air flowing out pushed the Ninja out of the building before Cole quickly grabbed hold of a fire hose that went out with them.
"Grab on!" Cole shouted to the others before they quickly grew hold and the hose was at the end of its line. "Ready to crash the party, boys?!" He asked as they swung their way to a window below the one that just broke, only for them to smack into it and not burst through it.
They groaned and slid down on the window before they fell onto a window cleaner lift. Jay's Techno Blade then hit said Ninja on the head. "Ow!" He yelped as he rubbed his head.
The cleaning bot heard him as he turned and his eyes turned red at the Ninja, but before it could do anything, Cole kicked the bot off the lift.
"Thanks Cole," Jay said as they stood up, "What in the world is going on here?" He wondered.
"It's like the whole city is out to get us!" Cole said, waving his arms out.
Zane put a hand to his chin, "Perhaps this has something to do with whomever Cyrus Borg was attempting to warn us about." He theorized.
"But that's crazy Zane!" Cole said, raising a brow, "Who'd even have that kinda power?"
Kai thought for a moment and gave a worried look, "Guys, I think I might have an idea." He said as the others turned to him.
"You fool!" a very dark and familiar voice shouted at both Borg as a pair of glowing red eyes were on the monitors. "You tried to give them the only thing that could defeat me and thought I wouldn't notice?! I'd get rid of you if I didn't still need you! Don't think to ever betray me again!"
"Of course not, I promise," Borg said in a scared tone. "I promise!"
"A promise isn't good enough!" The eyes yelled as the The lights on Borg's legs turned red as they moved on their own towards his workbench.
"No! No!" Borg pleaded as robotic arms grabbed him and lay him down on the bench. "Don't! Let me go! No, please, no more!" He begged as sparks started to fly off the bench as Borg cried out as he felt like he was being pulled apart and put together all over again.
Back outside, the Ninja used the lift to travel downwards as Kai started explaining his idea of the culprit, "...And that's when Borg said he was listening." Kai finished.
"Do you really think it's the Overlord who's behind this?" Jay asked her worriedly.
"But how?" Cole asked. "We all saw Lloyd and Melissa defeat him." He reminded them.
"Defeat, yes. But can he be destroyed?" Zane asked.
"Well if it is the Overlord, then Melissa is not gonna be happy to know that daddy's home." Cole said before a light shined on them, and they saw a hover copter aiming its weapons at them.
"I don't know if the Overlord can be destroyed, but we can!" Jay shouted in a scared tone.
Then Zane got an idea. "Cole, throw me!" Zane told him.
"Excuse me?!" Cole asked, hoping he misheard.
"THROW ME!" Zane repeated.
Cole then threw Zane at the copter. Zane grabbed onto it, throwing its aim off and destabilizing it. He then flipped onto its back and noticed his Techno Blade had gained an ethereal blue gear and Blade and the staff extended. He then jabbed the Blade into the copter as it was covered in an icy aura and then transformed into a Ninja-Copter with a white, blue and gold design and Zane in the cockpit.
"What just happened?" Kai asked in shock.
"The Techno Blade must've hacked the hover-copter's system!" Jay guessed as the copter flew close to them, "Zane controls it!"
"Cool." All three of them said in unison.
Back in the factory line, Wu and Nya stood by the students from the buzzsaw and lasers as Nya then kicked each one down as they were getting closer to the windows.
"Run! Jump! And kick!" Nya said as she deflected the machines.
Wu then jabbed his staff at one of the lasers and noticed the stairway. "Everyone! Get to the window!" He said as they all climbed up and Nya kicked another machine.
But when they reached the top they saw the furnace and yelled in panic, "How do we stop it!?" Nya wondered in worry before she noticed the power box and jumped to reach it.
Nya tried to open the power box as quickly as she could as the students were getting closer to the furnace and Wu was being overwhelmed by the machines as he deflected each one.
Then the Ninja got on the copter and saw what was happening. Zane fired at the panel, causing Nya to fall onto the converter belt just in time for it to stop.
"We need to get everyone to the bus." Kai spoke as the Ninja-Copter brought out the window-cleaner lift for them to climb on. "I have an idea." He added as the students rushed to them.
Nya made sure the coast was clear before rushing over to the bus. But just as she was about to jump, Pixal grabbed her leg.
"Enemy apprehend-" Pixal tried to say but Nya kicked her, causing her to let go and she ran to the lift and hopped onto the copter.
"Come on. She's one of them! We have to go!" Nya told Zane as they flew away.
Down in the streets, the Ninja placed their students into the bus as Nya was in the driver seat while the Ninja and Wu stayed outside.
"Get to the academy, Sis," Kai ordered, "We need the Ninjas of Yin and Yang." He stated.
"What about you guys? Nya asked.
"We must protect the people." Wu said as the whole city then went berserk. Traffic lights and robots harassing people, vehicles moving around like crazy. It was like the whole city was out to get them all.
One of the large robots started to tip over the bus with the students inside as the Ninja tried to keep it from tipping over.
"Oh no you don't!" A girl's voice shouted as jumping down from the building was the masked girl and she landed on the Robot's back, pulling out some wires causing it to fall and shut down, "I hate robots." She said tossing the wires away.
The group were surprised by that as the students started cheering for her. "That girl is my new favorite!" Brad called out as Nya drove off, leaving the Ninja, Wu and the masked girl behind.
Cole marched up to a girl, "Okay, number 1: Way to ruin my chance to show up the kids, Number 2: my friend happens to be a robot, and Number 3: Who the heck are yyyyyyyyyy…" Cole trailed off as the girl took off her make-up as she showed her long Hot pink hair with a single blue streak running through bang down her shoulder as she shook her head and then looked at Cole with her bright blue eyes, "...Whoa." He said dopily.
The Girl frowned at the Earth Ninja, "Where are you looking at Boulder Brain, my eyes are up here." She said while pointing to her eyes.
"H-Huh? Oh, right. Sorry." Cole apologized as he shook his head. "Uh, who are you?" He asked more politely.
"No time for explanations, for now, just call me the Phantom Ninja." The girl said to them, giving a battle stance.
"Wait? Phantom Ninja?" Jay questioned before scoffing, "Come on, the only Ninja around here are us."
"Then where were you Ninja before?" The girl questioned with a brow. "And look around, maybe if you were here, you could've done something to help this place sooner."
"Hey, we only just found out the Overlord has returned. We were out of town for so long that we hardly recognized it. Literally." Kai said in defense. "What matters now is that we have to protect the people and we could use your help."
The girl then gave a skeptical look, "Oh yeah, and why should I?" She asked while crossing her arms.
"Because if you don't, then the Overlord's machines win." Zane said calmly.
The girl gave a thought for a moment before she placed her hands on her hips. "Well, when you put it that way, fair point." She concedes.
The group then huddled together. "Alright, so these Techno Blades can hack into their systems." Kai spoke, now realizing what the Techno Blades can do.
"So, what do you say we do a little hack-attack?" Jay quipped eagerly.
"I'm liking this plan already." The girl said with an eager look.
"Zane, Kai, you take to the skies." Wu ordered. "I want Cole, Jay and the Phantom Ninja on the ground, I will do what I can for the people."
Cole was letting out a giggle. "Anyone else feeling all tingly inside?!" He asked excitedly.
"NINJA, GO!" They all shouted and split up. Kai rode on Zane's Hover-Copter. They made it to the hologram Highway where Kai jumped on another hover copter before a jet was flying in from the sky.
"Oh, I want that!" Kai called dibs on when he saw it as he struck the jet with his Blade and a fiery aura surrounded it as it turned red with fire details and gold propeller blades. "Yeah! Ha-Ha!" He cheered in the cockpit.
But Kai realized he did not know how to control it. "Aw, seriously?" He started to press some buttons and the jet started to fly out of control a bit when he pressed the wrong one. "Whoa! Okay, not that button." A hologram version of Borg then appeared in front of him.
"So you've figured out how the Techno Blades work," The hologram said as Kai looked at it in confusion as he was getting used to the controls. "You must know, they are far, far more important than you think."
"Umm, ya mind explaining-" Kai asked before he noticed another jet was following him.
"This is a prerecorded message, but I can tell you that a few months ago, we discovered a virus laying dormant in our system. The Overlord," the message said as the other jet caught up to Kai.
"So I was right." Kai said as he saw the jet swing by. "It is the Overlord."
"You have to get the Techno Blades out of the city." The hologram told him as the jets targeted him. "Because once he knows you have them, he'll never let you leave. We've also given you new outfits to help block out the facial recognition software."
"Uh, great. Style and function," Kai commented before he boosted up his jet. "Wanna wrap it up? I'm a bit occupied at the moment."
"Had we known this would happen, we would never have built where the Overlord was destroyed. Goodbye, Ninja, and good luck." The holo-message ended as a missile was following Kai and he was doing his best to outmaneuver some artillery fire from below.
"Can you guys handle that?!" Kai called out through the comms as he dodge the missiles the tank was firing from below.
"On it!" Jay called out from below as he flipped over a mech and jumped onto a raider, slamming his Techno Blade into it, as electricity sparked around and then it exploded into a blue raider as Jay was driving it, "Ha, I love it!" He said as fired at some of the mechs. "Hey, Cole, you and Ms. Phantom need some help with those security mechs? Or maybe just some old-fashioned artillery fire?" He asked, rushing over to them.
Cole ran up to one of the mechs and flipped it over at some of them. "I think I got a handle on it!" he shouted before he ran up to one and the Techno Blade of his extended a chain out as he lifted it around and slammed it against it. It turned black and grew golden claws, "Yeah!" Cole cheered as he slashed the robots, "Stomping Mechs to Mech Stomper!" He said before turning to the Phantom Ninja, "Pretty cool huh?"
"Heh, you called that cool?" The Phantom Ninja said in an amusing tone as she then brought out a key, pressed the button and then driving across the street was a silver and indigo Motorbike with Phantom markings on it. "Meet my ride, Road Shrieker." She introduced.
Jay and Cole were surprised by that as Jay broke the silence. "How do you have something like that?!" He questioned.
"And more importantly, how is it not controlled by the Overlord like everything else in the city? We thought you said you hated machines." Cole asked in confusion.
"First off the names Seliel and second I hate machines, not wheels," Seliel explained as she hopped onto her Motorbike. "And for how my ride is not infected, it's on a secure server, completely separate from the city. I figured something like this was gonna happen so I preferred to be prepared."
"Actually, that's pretty clever." Cole complimented.
"Thanks, I made this girl myself." Seliel said while patting the hood before getting serious. "But enough of that, let's get moving and clean the streets of these crazy machines!" She called out as she drove off, leaving the boys surprised.
"Wow, she's pretty good." Jay commented in surprise.
"Yeah. No kidding." Cole said as he looked longingly at where Seliel went off to.
"Come on, Cole. We got machines to blast." Jay said as he turned around.
"Huh? Oh, right." Cole said as he shook his head as he and Jay went back into the battle.
At the academy, Nya is rushing down the hallways. "Lloyd! Melissa!" She called out as she rushed into the teacher lounge where she thought they were. "The others are in trouble-" She stopped herself when she saw it was Dareth, not Lloyd or Melissa, sitting in front of the television.
"Oh, hi Nya. Can you believe," Dareth gestured to the television, "I'm watching my favorite game show with the jiu jitsu dogs, you know, when BAM! The cable just dies on me!"
Nya groaned before she went to the phone and dialed a number.
Back on the Dark Island, Lloyd and Melissa, while Lloyd is wearing green trunks while Melissa is wearing a two piece purple bikini as the two are getting out of the ocean.
"Man, how long were we in the water?" Lloyd wondered.
"Don't know. Long enough that we were caught up in a relaxing moment." Melissa said as she rinsed out her hair.
"Yeah." Lloyd nodded before he heard a buzzing noise coming from Melissa's bag. "Uh, Melissa, I think your phone is ringing." He told her.
"Probably the others checking up on us." Melissa said as she walked up to her phone and saw it was Nya calling as she answered it. "Hi, Nya. What's up?" She asked, which gibbering sounds could be her, which made Melissa raise a brow. "What? Nya, slow down. I can't make sense of a word you're saying." She then heard something that made her eyes widened. "Wait, my father is what?!"
"W-What? What's going on?" Lloyd asked in concern.
"Lloyd… My father has returned." Melissa said grimly, which shocked Lloyd.
"We need to get to the others, now!" Lloyd said in panic.
"Nya, we'll be at the city soon. Thanks for the heads up." Melissa said as she ended her call. "Let's get dressed and get back to New Ninjago City as fast as we can! The others are in trouble!" She said as Lloyd nodded and the two rushed off to get their clothes.
Back in the city, Kai was zipping past the building as he spoke to his comms to talk to the others. "We have to get the Techno Blades out of the city." He informed his friends.
"But what about Sensei?" Zane asked as he zipped through the air in his hover vehicle. "We can't leave without him!" Kai picked up his location and headed towards each of them.
"There! I'll pick him up and meet you all at the intersection of Wilfert and Fleming!" Kai told them.
With Sensei Wu, he soon found themselves surrounded by the security droids. Kai tried to pick him up but the droids made it impossible. "I can't find a place to land!" He called out, avoiding fire.
Just then, Seliel then drove up right in front of the bots surrounding Wu as she gave a confident smirk. "Take this you walking tin cans!" She called out as her Motorbike then brought out two blasters and started firing at the security mechs, which knocked them down. "You've got an opening! Go now!" She called out to Wu.
Wu nodded and saw a fire hydrant nearby before he ran up to it and knocked off the top of it. He then used the water to get up close to up close to Kai's jet and watch on as he flew by. They all then met up at where Kai said they would meet, and they were getting surrounded by more robots.
The Ninja then stood back to back as they started blasting the robots away on each street they slowly started getting overwhelmed.
"There's too many! We're never getting out!" Cole told the others.
"Just keep going, they'll have to run out of batteries at some point!" Kai shouted as blasted a few.
"Well, I'm not so sure about that," Zane commented as he moved back from a blast.
"These things power supply can go all night! They won't run out of power anytime soon!" Seliel called out as her Motorbike blasted them back.
"Oh, where are Lloyd and Melissa when you need 'em?!" Jay said in despair.
Just then, a golden and silver flash of light rolled over the streets as flying in were Lloyd and Melissa on their dragons as the group cheered as Seliel looked in surprise.
"What just happened?" Seliel asked in surprise.
Lloyd and Melissa jumped off their dragons, now wearing their Golden and Silver Ninja Gi's. "Robots vs Ninja? Dare we ask?" Lloyd jokingly asked as the others crowded them in huge joy.
"You two are a sight for sore eyes." Kai said as they all ran up the The Ninjas of Yin and Yang. "Although why are you two partly wet?"
"We had to take a swim for a break after escaping the paparazzi." Melissa said with a sigh. "Seriously, they won't leave us alone."
"So you couldn't help yourselves, The Ninjas of Yin and Yang, we meet again," The eyes said as they knew very well who that voice belonged to. "And it's so good to see you again, my daughter."
"Father!" Melissa growled in anger. "I don't know how you're back, but just like last time me and Lloyd are gonna take you down!"
"Melissa's right. We defeated you once, we'll defeat you again!" Lloyd promised.
"Oh, I don't want to fight," The Overlord told them as the robots started to absorb the Silver and the Golden power around them. "I just want the ultimate power!" Lloyd and Melissa were getting ready to shoot another golden and silver blast before Wu stopped him.
"No. Your powers are only making them stronger." Wu said to his nephew and his girlfriend.
"But if our powers are making them stronger." Melissa started.
"Then how do we fight?" Lloyd finished.
Kai shook his head. "We don't. We need to get you two and the Techno Blades out of the city!" he said.
"I don't think he'll let us leave," Cole pointed out.
"I may have a plan, listen closely," Wu said as they all huddled together and Wu whispered her plan before they broke apart.
"Sounds like a plan," Cole said as they all nodded, "Let's go."
"You Ninja can go, but I'm staying." Seliel said with a serious look.
The group turned to her in surprise. "What? Aren't you coming with us?" Cole asked in surprise.
"While I'm all for it to leave and fight another day, but someone has to stay and protect the people." Seliel stated. "Besides, New Ninjago City is my home. I can't abandon it." She said, hopping onto her Motorbike.
"Are you sure you won't join us?" Wu questioned. "Because it might be wise to work together to survive."
"I've been managing things on my own for years already when New Ninjago City was built. I can handle things on my own." Seliel answered. "Besides, someone has to help. I'll clear the way and go find you if the Overlord tracks you down. Go Ninja, Go!" She called out as she then drove off while knocking some mechs down while clearing a path.
The Ninja watched Seliel go in surprise as Melissa smirked under her mask. " Oh, I like her." She said,
"You're not the only one." Cole muttered.
"Okay, Ninja. It's time to disappear!" Wu called out as they nodded.
"NINJA, GO!" The Ninja did Spinjitzu as they quickly got back on their new vehicles before they split up.
"I hope this works." Kai said through the coms.
"At 4.2 percent chance of success, I'd say our hope is slim." Zane said.
"That's why it's called hope, Zane." Jay pointed out.
"The Techno Blades. Find them!" The Overlord ordered the computer as it showed video recordings of Lloyd and Melissa flying beside each other while Wu ran away with a wrapped tarp.
"Searching for Techno Blades," The computer said.
Cole and Jay had made it out of the city as they were on the outskirts. "Cole, jump on!" Jay told him before Cole had his mech jump on the back and gave his vehicle a boost.
Back in the city, Wu was running across rooftops as Wu was carrying a large clump of cloth with something in it. He soon passed a camera as it was scanning the cloth he was holding. "Techno Blades, 92 percent confirmation," the computer said
"The Sensei! The Sensei has them! Get him now!" The Overlord ordered as Wu continued to run across the rooftops. They soon came across a large gap to which Sensei Wu jumped across with one leap. He soon came across an intersection where Sensei Wu jumped across the floating traffic lights to get across until he reached the next rooftop.
A hover copter soon blocked their path before they were surrounded by more. Once the light shined down on them, Sensei Wu unraveled the cloth and revealed that they did not have the Techno Blades.
"No. No, no!" The Overlord shouted with rage. "Where are the Blades?!" He then checked a camera on the intersection where Sensei Wu was jumping off the hovering traffic lights before he rewound the footage and played it back slowly, which revealed Kai on his Jet getting the Blades when Sensei Wu was low enough to pass them on to him. "That old fool will pay dearly!" The Overlord roared.
Meanwhile, the Ninja we're getting as far from the city as they can while Lloyd and Melissa grew concerned.
"We have to go back for him!" Lloyd told them.
"Sensei can't face my father alone!" Melissa called out in concern.
"We will, but not until you both are safe," Kai said.
"He wants these weapons," Cole told them, "And for some reason, he wants the two of you. Remember this is Sensei's plan, they can't break him. Don't forget, we have an ally in the city who keeps the people safe while we plan our next move."
"Yesterday is gone. Tomorrow has yet to come. We only have today." Zane said, remembering the lesson Wu told them earlier.
"You said it, Zane." Jay said in agreement.
"We will come back to New Ninjago City. And when we do, we'll be ready." Zane promised.
"But for now, we find someplace safe to hide." Kai said as they kept rolling across the desert. "They'll be looking for us." He added.
"Don't worry Lloyd, we stopped my father once and we'll stop him again." Melissa told him. "And I promise we will save your uncle before anything bad happens."
"I really hope so, Melissa." Lloyd said as he and Melissa looked back at the city, knowing their uncle was still somewhere inside and were worried about what the Overlord could be after.
Back at Borg tower, a shadowy figure on the one-hundredth floor while having the Overlord's eyes.
Down on the factory line, Pixal had a holographic version of Zane up as she took off his head and both his arms before adding in a few components inside and replacing a new head and arms, with a robotic eye over the Ninja mask. "Upgrade complete," She stated as she uploaded the blueprints to the computer and the factory line started working on a whole new army.

A/N: And that was the first episode of Season 3 and uh oh it looks like the Overlord is back and has taken control of all of the technology in New Ninjago City and he wants Lloyd and Melissa's powers. How are the Ninja gonna stop this? Leave a review and tell us what you think.
