A/U story with Arizona being a firefighter and Callie a doctor. I'm not sure how much the characters from Station 19 are going to come into play yet or where this story is going. Warning it will be a G!P story. Thank you for reading and please leave a review! They help alot and are much appreciated.
It was a sunny bright day in California but that didn't change the fact that getting calls like this always put the hospital staff just a little extra on edge. A firefighter was down, injured on the job, not just any firefighter one from the Station 42 house. The hospital staff knew most of them for a few reasons one being they dropped off the most patients to them, another is two of their firefighters are currently married to employees at the hospital, it also helped that they all hung out at the same bar that just so happened to be located by the hospital and firehouse. Even though it was a big city it felt like a small town because they all knew each other some type of way. That's what brought them all here on the loading dock waiting for the ambulance to pull up. Callie looked around her, Bailey was currently standing there rubbing her fingers together, if you didn't know her you would think it's normal but Callie knew and she knew she was nervous, it could have been her husband Ben. Webber, Hunt and Amelia, were standing there, they all looked calm and ready to go and then there was Callie she took a deep breath, she knew there was a lot on the line and she would need to be on her A game. The only other person she was waiting on to show up any minute now was Carina, yea her specialty was OB but her wife was also a firefighter at 42 with Ben. They can hear the sirens faintly in the distance.
"oh good I made it before them" an out of breath Carina says clearly having ran there.
They see the ambulance round the corner and Bailey lets out a sigh of relief as she sees Ben driving. The ambulance pulled up and the doors swung open, Vic and Jay jumped out and started pulling the gurney out. A flash of blonde hair could be seen and you could just hear the wailing cry Carina let out as she sank down to her knees. Vic ran to her to try to soothe her, while the others ran and got the details from Jay and helped bring the gurney inside.
"no no no Carina it's not Maya. It's our new transfer" Carina wiped herself up and ran inside she needed to see for herself. She swung the curtain open and seen them working on the person. Callie turned around an gave her a look and she knew for herself it wasn't Maya.
In the OR, things were a mess and hectic to say the least. Callie stood off to the side until Bailey and Webber were able to get control of the bleeding in the abdomen. She was bleeding internally and it took some time for them to get it under control. Her spleen had ruptured and they had to remove it. Hunt was acting as a floater just fitting in wherever he could help. Amelia stood watch of the brain activity, there was a brain bleed but she was hoping that it just would eventually stop on it's own. Once things were more stable Callie was able to step in. There was an open fracture on the the lower part of her arm near her elbow. Callie cleaned and debrided the wound then made the necessary adjustments to realign the bone in place.
A couple hours later, Callie and the rest of the surgeons walked out to a room full of firefighters. The first to notice them was Captain Maya Bishop, she stood up and made her way to them. Webber took over and filled them all in on everything that happened with the surgery.
Later that night, everyone was done with there shifts, Carina and Callie walked across the street together. When they were looking for apartments, they luckily found one across the street from the hospital. It was even better because they were both next door to each other. They often just hung out at Carina's apartment at least just enough to unwind from the day. When Carina unlocked the door she noticed Maya had beat them home. Callie went straight to sit in the recliner that was on side of the sofa that Maya was sitting on and Carina went a plopped down right next to her snuggling up on Maya. After years of the friendship between Callie and Carina, they were so close and seen it all, barely little was kept between them or bothered them. Maya was used to it by now how close their friendship was and instead of fighting it just in-braced it.
Maya handed Callie a beer and Carina her wine
"So Maya what happened today on the call anyway?"
"I mean to put it simple it was just recklessness. This is her first week here and all I've seen from her is that she's reckless and jumps in head first without getting the full picture. Yea don't me wrong we've all been reckless at some point but she acts how I use to, like she has no one to come home to" Maya says as she bring Carina's hand up giving it a kiss "Arizona Robbins will either be the best thing to ever happen to our station or the worse and i'm not sure which one it is yet"
