"You three wanted to see me?" A young purple dragon asked.

"Ah, yes, Spyro. The other Guardians and I have been thinking, and we've come to a decision." Terrador answered.

Spyro's face was washed over with worry, and he gulped.

"You need to elope with Cynder and continue the dragon race. We know this is a lot to ask of the both of you, but we don't have any other options."

"Do we get a say in this? Have you told her already?" Spyro asked demandingly.

"Actually, we think it would be best if you delivered the news to Cynder," Cyril answered.

"But... bu-but." Spyro stuttered.

"Spyro, you know how she feels about you. We don't want to seem like we're forcing her," Volteer responded.

Spyro sighed, "I understand." He replied disappointedly.

"Thank you, Spyro. The future of the dragon race depends on you," Terrador told him.

"But what do I tell her? We have to be together because the guardians say we must!"

"Just tell her how you truly feel," Cyril responded.

"But I don't feel that way about her," Spyro thought to himself. "Thanks," Spyro said untruthfully.

A few seconds later, Spyro said goodbye to the guardians and went to bring Cynder the news, thinking about what he was going to tell her.

"Hey Cynder, I was talking with the guardians and they think we should be together." No, Spyro didn't want to hurt her feelings even if he didn't have the same type of feelings she had.

"Yo Cyn, you're like really cool and you should totally be with me." No, don't be ridiculous, Spyro thought.

And that's when he found Cynder, sitting out on the balcony, all alone like usual.

"Hey Spyro, how you doing?" Cynder asked upon noticing the purple dragon.

"I'm doing fine, thanks. Unrelated, but remember when we saved the world and you told me you loved me?" Spyro asked.

"N-No. I don't know what you're talking about." Cynder stammered.

"Don't lie to me, Cynder. I know how you truly feel," Spyro fired back.

"I really don't have feelings for him. I only said that so he'd have something to fight for." Cynder thought to herself. And she knew she had to quickly come up with a response before he continued to think that.

"Why are you arguing with me about this, Spyro!? I already told you I don't remember. I'd say you're just making it up!" She yelled.

"Why? Because, because, because I want to elope with you!" Spyro exclaimed.

Cynder gasped, and Spyro turned his face away, covering it with his wing. He couldn't look at her; not now, not after he messed it up like that.

"I didn't know you felt that way," Cynder replied softly, yet confused.

"Wasn't it obvious?" Spyro replied, trying to make it seem as if he meant what he said.

"I-I uh, just remember I have to do something." She said, flying away.

Spyro sighed and walked back into the temple.

"How'd it go?" Terrador asked.

"Wonderfully," Spyro said sarcastically. "I told her, and she just flew away!"

"I see, maybe she just needs some time," Terrador reassured him.

The black dragoness found herself sitting on her haunches on a cliffside, looking at the view and thinking things over. "Is this what it feels like to be loved? Was he being truthful or just pulling my tail? Do I really love him!?" All these thoughts kept racing through her mind, and she didn't know any answers.

A/N: For anyone wondering, the word "elope" usually means to run away secretly with the intention of getting married, usually without parental consent.
