His mind held onto a trace of the woman, even as he entered camp. She was still there, in the city. He couldn't shake a feeling of unease upon seeing her there, even if she herself said that she didn't want to stir up any trouble. In fact, the reason he'd thought she wasn't human in the beginning was that her thought pattern and movements so resembled one. That alone made him wary. Those who modeled themselves after animals were tricky to keep hold of, trickier still to figure out motives. He only hoped that Lucy wasn't in danger as well.
The last time he felt like that about something, it'd been on the first day…suddenly he found himself with a headache. He'd never asked Lucy if Mira came by with any news. He supposed no news must be good news in this scenario. It meant Mira was probably right and that the owner merely blabbed about it unintentionally. But, what if those same people told more people? And then eventually, total weirdos not even associated with the owner came by? He was going to wring that demon's neck if that were the case.
He found himself sulking out in the woods, still faintly listening to the woman, until his patrol shift rolled around, and he sulked at camp. He was so distracted he almost missed his chance to talk to Macbeth as his shift ended and he entered and Macbeth walked out. He grabbed his arm and hissed. "Would you mind explaining to me what all the stares are for?"
Macbeth shrugged him off. "Can this wait? I told you, all you have to do is follow my lead if you get discovered."
"Yeah, well it'd be a lot easier if I had an inkling of what the hell is going on."
Macbeth scowled, then looked away. "Look…I'll tell you tomorrow. I'd just…rather think right now."
"Hmph, or you're stalling. What, is it embarrassing? It better not be. If you made me secretly stalking someone I will end you."
"No, it's just," for a second, Cobra could have sworn a touch of color came over the man's usually pale face. Then he turned away. "Just a few more days," he whispered, before ducking out of the tent. He was gone before Cobra could snatch him, and he didn't particularly want anyone else to see him making a scene today, so he just crawled into the makeshift ground bed. The dragonslayer wasn't entirely sure his guild mate's last line had been for him at all. He certainly hoped not. He'd go mad if he had to wait that long.
Before falling asleep he attempted to listen to the woman's soul once more, only to bolt upright when he realized he could no longer hear her in the city. Which meant she'd left it, and his only other lead so far, behind.
A/N: End of Day 4! Hope you enjoyed Lyon and his crazy love perspective (as compared to Cobra's...normal perspective?) Interludes come next! Thanks for reading!
