Requirements: Emma and Abi survived in Chris Hackett's surveillance room. Kaitlyn and Dylan survived the showdown in the lodge. Kaitlyn killed Caleb with the silver shells

August 23rd -Emma

Hackett Lodge

Emma pounds on the office door. Everything had gone quiet. No way they forgotten them in here.

"Hello. We're still in here. Hello? Let us out, please!"

The lock suddenly clicked. The door opened, revealing Kaitlyn on the other side.

Emma: "Thank God. Finally. Took you long enough." They walk to the middle of the lodge. "What the hell was going on..."

Abi gasps at the sight of Caleb when she sees his body, crouching down beside him.

"Oh my God.." Emma's hands flew to her mouth. "The silver shells..."

"We didn't have much of a choice." Abi says. " Just like with Nick...you did the right thing." She puts a hand on Kaitlyn's arm. " I think we should cover him." She gets up from the floor. "I'll go get some blankets."

As she leaves Kaitlyn continues " Chris and his kids were freaking werewolves and his family tried covering it up. And I don't want to know what else they're hiding. Judging by the body Jacob found in the lake."

Emma: He what?"

Kaitlyn: He thinks it might've been one of the hikers. "

Emma: EW, so I've been swimming in poo water and bloated corpse juice all this time? Sorry. Kaylee. Now Caleb. Geez. I knew those kids were strange but...I wouldn't have wanted something to happen to them. " She looks around. "Where is Jacob?"

"He hasn't come back yet. It's just us and Dylan."

Abi returns, she puts the blanket over Caleb.

"I have no idea how we're going to explain everything that's happened." Abi said, playing with the string of her now retrieved bag absentmindedly.

"But we have photos." Emma spoke up. "See?" She held up her phone to show a blurry image of what they knew to be a werewolf, but what could have been anything to someone who didn't know what they were looking at.

"A photo." Kaitlyn brushed her hair behind her ears, and squinted at Emma's phone. "And it's not exactly...you can't tell what that is. "

"Uh sorry I was about to be monster food? Not the ideal situation for a photo-op."

"There's a dead body in the pool, Emma. And one in the lodge with us...and add one more if Ryan and Laura managed to kill Chris. I don't think one indecipherable photo is going to cut it."

Before Emma could try to muster up anything else to say that could possibly break the tension, there was a knock at the door. The four counselors glanced at it, uncertain of what to do. The night was over, the werewolves were gone, but that didn't mean the hunters weren't still out there.

"Hey, let us in!" A muffled voice came from behind the door, banging louder now. Then a muffled response, followed by a much clearer voice.

"Yeah, try stepping in a fucking bear trap dude..."

"Wait, that's Jacob." Kaitlyn ran to the door. "Emma, come help me move this table."

Kaitlyn

A few seconds later with the table removed, Emma opened the door to reveal Jacob, with a very exhausted and confused looking Nick leaning onto him, but Jacob was leaning more against him, hoping on one foot like he couldn't take the weight.

"Look who I found in the woods." Jacob slapped Nick on the back, which only made Nick groan in pain. "So it's over right, we're safe?"

"We're safe. At least till the cops get here. We're going to have to get our story straight."

Jacob was doing his best to hold Nick up, but it was obvious just looking at them that they were both completely exhausted.

"What the hell happened?" Nick asked.

"We'll fill you in, but first, Jacob, I need to look at that foot."

Kaitlyn pulls up a chair for Jacob and he sits down. She checks his foot over.

"I think your ankle might be broken." He calls out in pain as she pulls it toward her. "Yep. Definitely broken."

"And how long does a broken ankle take to heal?"

"You remember that one time I broke my leg, right? It took about two months to heal."

"Fuck. I have to put off swimming for two whole months?"

"Maybe longer."

"Well, there goes my swimming career. "

"You're fortunate to still have all your limbs. Some of us don't unfortunately ." She glances in Dylan's direction. Jacob follows her eyes.

"Holy shit, Dylan! Your hand! Did you get caught in a bear trap too? They're like all over the place. Fucking hunters man."

"Uh no...it..." He couldn't find the words. It was starting to really hurt.

"He was bitten." Kaitlyn didn't elaborate further.

He then realizes body under the blanket. "Hey uh, who's that?"

"Caleb."

"This is so fucked up. " He looks around and appears to do a head count. "Do you know where Ryan is?"

"He went off with one of the counselors that didn't show up. Well, she showed up when we were at the pool-house. Laura and her boyfriend showed up one night early. He was attacked by one of those things in the storm shelter, and got turned into a werewolf."

"Werewolves. Of course."

"You're not even going to question it?"

"It would explain a whole lot."

Nick: Werewolves? You got to be kidding me."

"You got a better explanation?"

Nick just waves it off and turns back to Abi.

Abi: Ryan didn't believe it at first either.

"Anyway." Kaitlyn continues, said werewolf in question was Mr H. Mr H's brother is the sheriff, he had them locked up for two months. And the only cure is to kill the werewolf that bit you. That's where Ryan and Laura went."

"That's really fucked up. Hey, that must be eye patch lady,"

"You saw her?"

"Yeah. They freed me from the hunters. They had me in a freakin electrified cage, right next to one of those werewolves. which I just now realized must have been Nick. Holy shit! Anyway, Ryan let me out and I found my way back here through the underground tunnels. One of them led into the lake, where I found that freakin body! Do you think all the Hackett's are involved in this?"

"I don't know. I don't think it's really going to matter. It's not like anyone is going to believe us."

"Well, we can't say werewolves...what we say it was bear or something?"

"If we have to. And the Hackett's went nuts and attacked us. Which wouldn't be further from the truth I mean..."

"The body in the lake. That would be plenty motive right?"

"Jakey boy finally found his brain." Kaitlyn pats him on the head.

"Ugh...stop it." He brushes her hand away.

Emma came to sit beside him. There was definitely an awkward tension between the pair, but there was no denying the relief to see one another alive again. Emma took Jacob's hand in hers, without saying a word, and gave it a squeeze.

"C'mon." Kaitlyn says to Dylan, "We should give them some space. You really shouldn't be on your feet either."

Abigail

Standing in the corner and trying her best to be invisible, Abi watched as the two new arrivals settled in. She went to check on Dylan.

He groaned, a pained expression upon his face. It was obvious the adrenaline was wearing off, and the pain of his injury was starting to flare up again.

"Here, take this." She unfolded the other blanket and draped it over Dylan. "I also got these. They're from Mr H's cabinet." She took a medicine bottle from her bag.

"Ooh, more fun stuff."

"But not the good stuff. I'm sure we'll get help real soon. Don't worry about Ryan." He's silent. She never seen him this quiet. There were two Dylan's, one that made jokes about everything and the second, was more reserved but not THIS quiet. It was like he was a different person. They all were after tonight. While his mind was per-occupied with Ryan, hers was on someone else. She eyes Nick across the room.

"Talk to him. I'll be ok."

Abi gives a weak nod, and made her way to the fireplace. Nick was struggling to get comfortable in front of the open flame, his hands wrapped around himself trying to conserve heat. His clothes, if you could even call them that, were ripped to shreds and offering him no warmth. He was turned sideways as if avoiding having to look at the body under the blanket.

She clears her throat.

"Abi, I didn't see you." Nick startled, his eyes widening in disbelief. "I thought...I thought I hurt you."

"Still in one piece." She smiled, gesturing towards herself.

"Dylan's not. Poor Caleb. He had his whole life ahead of him. What the hell happened?"

She tells him.

"So...werewolves..."

"Yep."

"I don't remember much," He began. "Just… the anger. I said some horrible things to you but I didn't mean them. It was like someone else was in my mind and taking over everything."

"I know." Abi sighed. " You were really sick."

"It still doesn't make it okay. I could have really hurt you."

"But you didn't. I mean, I'm the one who shot you."

"Yeah. Wait, you shot me? I can't really blame you for that."

"We can't change what's happened, we just have to move forward."

"I'll be having nightmares for years." Nick replied.

Dylan

Worry nestled in Dylan's core as he watched the two couples in front of him resting after their ordeal. Even the sharp ache of his stump couldn't take his mind off of Ryan.

"He's going to be okay." Kaitlyn spoke, pulling Dylan out of his thoughts.

"He should have been back by now."

The lodge was brightly lit by sunlight now, and the soft sound of birds singing was heard faintly behind the window panes.

She studies his face once again. His forehead is sweating. Maybe signs of a fever? And his jaw has been clenched this entire time, with his stump held closely to his chest and right hand trembling. She knows he must be in excruciating pain by now, it's been hours since he last took some pain meds and they're all out. It's a miracle he's still even conscious.

Outside, the sound of a vehicle coming to a halt can be heard.

They snap their heads to the door to see a figure appear in the doorway.

=====================
The cop, followed by Ryan and Laura, and a fourth person, who had to be Max entered the lodge.

Ryan explains what happened after he went off with Laura. And their showdown with Silas, seeing Eliza in the woods, and the Harum Scarum fire and how the Hackett's fit into it all.

Kaitlyn: I thought that was just a ghost story.

Travis: It's not a ghost story. It was tragedy. People died in that fire. It haunted my family for years. Especially Kaylee." Both he and Ryan look utterly devastated.

"So, it's over then?" Kaitlyn asks.

"So, she was real? The Hag of Hackett's Quarry?" Dylan still didn't quite believe the voice he had heard on the phone in Mr H's office and the lodge was actually real.

"She didn't want us to kill Silas...he was the one that bit you outside the radio hut..but yeah...it's over. The curse of Hackett's Quarrry is broken."

Kaitlyn: A bit dramatic much?

Max: What the fuck. I guess ghosts aren't much of a big leap from werewolves."

Travis: That's not either here nor there right now. Have any one of you seen Caleb?"

Kaitlyn looks over at Dylan who bows his head. "I'm sorry. He came at us. I didn't know it was him." She looks over at the fireplace. Travis goes over to the other side, where Caleb's body laid, already covered by a blanket. He lifts the blanket back and sucks in his breath. He looks up briefly as if to curse a God he does or doesn't believe in. Silent tears track his face, as he looks back at the others stone faced.

Ryan thinks he's going to snap and kill them all. Or he's not going to let them go and frame them for all of it.

He stands up clearing his throat.

Laura: We're really sorry. About what happened. This all could have been prevented."

Travis: "You're damn right. If you hadn't knocked me out and steal my silver ammo to kill my family with, before I could tell you about the white wolf. "

"Don't put this all on us. Your family isn't as innocent."

Max: (whispers) Laura.

Laura: "I didn't know Kaylee or...Caleb, maybe they didn't deserve all this, and for that, I'm sorry."

Travis: "I would have told you..."

"So you say..." Laura didn't believe him.

Kaitlyn: I don't think playing the blame game is exactly helping.

Travis: We don't have time for this. First things first before the authorities get here. We need to get our stories straight."

Laura: Aren't you the authority?"

Travis: They're likely going to send the state police to investigate. They're going to want to separate all of you. Before that happens, we're going to get our stories straight. You're going to say it was my families fault.

"What?" Ryan asked with a shocked expression.

"I mean, it sort of is." Laura said.

"You got that right. You know what sort of hell you put me through," Jacob hobbled up on his foot, "put all of us through. We know about the body in the lake."

"I had nothing to do with that."

"Yeah, but you knew didn't you?"

"Why would you help us? Kaylee and Caleb are dead." Ryan asked. Hurt in his voice.

"Kaylee was an accident. Caleb...you were only defending yourself."

Laura: You're just giving up. Just like that? Why not lock us all up, charge us with all of this...it's not like you covered your tracks before...it's all one big cover up right?"

Max whispers: Laura, don't give him any ideas.

Travis: you're right, I could do that..." The counselors back up as he reaches for his gun. Slowly he takes his hand off the holster. "but I won't. Alright...here's the deal. Your friend here, found the body in the lake. Once my family found out about it, they couldn't let you go. Laura and Ryan went to confront Chris but things went south from there. I tried to protect Max and Laura by giving them a warning., not to come here."

Dylan was feeling dizzy. He had to sit down. He went back over to the stairs and sank down. He was tired. Maybe he could get some rest. Sleep, that's what he needed. It was probably not a good idea. But he wanted nothing more than to sleep. Maybe he'd rest his eyes for a few minutes.

"by warning you mean imprisoning us for two months?" Laura asked. " I meant what I said. I'll never forgive you for what you did. But...thanks."

"Are you sure? They were your family?" Max asked.

"They were all going to pull me down in the well with them. Had to cut the rope sometime."

"Hey, where'd Dylan go?" Ryan could no longer see him.

They found him slumped over on the stairs.

"He was ok, when I left him." Came Abi's panicked voice. Kaitlyn bent over him, sweat plastered his hair to forehead. His breathing was becoming labored and his pulse was thready.

"Dylan?"

Kaitlyn looked at the skin around his wrist, it was swollen, molted purple and red.

"That's not good. That looks like infection." Sepsis. And it wouldn't be long until septic shock set in. Next came organ failure and death. His poisoned blood was circulating back into his system. She shouldn't have made him run around all night with her, to the useless trip to the scrapyard for nothing. she could have gone and made him stay in the storm shelter with Abi. Or maybe Ryan shouldn't have used that rusty fucking chainsaw.

" Dylan, come on bud. Stay with me." He only groans and goes still. His breathing slightly labored. "He needs an ambulance. Preferably before the next few hours..." She turns her head toward Travis. "you're a fucking cop. Call for help. "

"Dylan, c'mon, wake up."

"Ry..."

"Yeah. I'm here. I'm right here..."

"Kai...iz she..."

"I'm here too. Hey, c'mon. Don't do this to me now. You saved my life tonight. You're not allowed to do this." Kaitlyn pleaded.

"At least one of us gets to say they died a hero."

"Don't talk like that. You're not going to die." Ryan said. He can't die. "Not like this."

Dylan was sure he was. Dying. He was...ok with that. Cutting off his hand, to avoid infection, and avoiding being killed and eaten by werewolves, only to die from an infection, seemed...mundane. But it had ensured everyone's safety. Everyone else survived. It had been the right choice. Sure he'd miss his sister, (she was young and would probably forget him but have fond memories of him, and tell her kids one day how brave a hero Uncle Dylie was)and his cat Schrodie. But he'd get to see his mom again. His only regret Ryan would blame himself.

Travis: (between checking his radio) The best we can do is keep him comfortable. Keep him talkin. And hope help comes soon enough."

But Dylan already went silent. He was lying so still. Ryan started to panic again. "Dylan. Hey. Just stay with me."

He opened up his eyes, which seemed to take a painful effort, to look up at Ryan.

"I'm...sorry."

"What?" The apology had been so faint, Ryan didn't know if he had heard it.

"Sorry." His right hand squeezed Ryan's, as he reached up with his left arm. Perhaps forgetting. Kaitlyn gently took it and held it against his chest.

"For what?"

(If you didn't ask Ryan out on a date as Dylan earlier in the game) "I should've asked you out on that date, huh?"

Ryan cracked a smile. Dylan, joking, right till the very end. No. This couldn't be the end.

Sirens in the background are fast approaching. Then the sound of car doors.

"Help is here. It's all over now. You're gonna be fine." He looks back down at Dylan. "Stay with me. Just stay with me."

The light in his soft brown eyes appeared to be fading. His eyes flutter closed.

...stay with me." Ryan's voice sounded farther and farther away. He'd very much want to. Stay. But sleep was calling. A woman's voice was calling him. He thought it was his mothers. He thought he saw a glimpse of something white, before his eyes closed for what could be the last time.

Ryan stays by his side until they load him into the ambulance. The EMT kept asking if he was hurt, looking at the large blood stain on the side of Ryan's shirt. Ryan refused to be looked at. Refusing to be separated from him, until they had to practically force him.

He caught one more glimpse of Dylan as the ambulance doors close and it drives away. Hoping it isn't the last time. He finally obeys the other EMT's instruction and climbs in the back of the other ambulance. They drive off, following close behind.
