A/N: I've decided that I'm not gonna be sticking really to any one TF continuity so stuff might get pretty wild. Also I'll try my best to keep to the main murder drones story.
Chapter 2: Trying to be Gentle
For a being as old as he was one would think Megatron had seen and heard all of life's cruelties. But after listening to Sarah's brief history lesson on Copper 9, the worker drones, and the murder drones sent to destroy them. The fact that her story felt sadly familiar to his home world of Cybertron's own history. Minus the murderous vampire drones. But still it was too close for comfort.
"And that's about all the history I know." Sarah said. "I hope it was enough?"
"Hmm… Thank you Sarah. That was… Informative." He said still processing the knowledge she had provided him.
"Hey Megatron?" Sarah asked.
With a simple hum as his response he gave the young Drone permission to speak.
"What's Kaon? You mentioned it during your fight with the Murder Drone." She asked curious about where her savior was from.
The question had caught him off guard slightly, but Megatron's optics softened as he considered how to explain his home to her.
"Kaon..." he began, his voice unusually quiet, as though speaking of it dredged up memories both painful and proud. "It was the city of the downtrodden and oppressed on Cybertron. A place where the discarded, the forgotten, and the exploited lived, worked... and eventually, fought."
Sarah's eyes brightened with curiosity. "So, like, a city of underdogs? What happened to it?"
Megatron hesitated for a moment, feeling the weight of his past. "Kaon was my birthplace, and it became the cradle of the Decepticon uprising. The city's struggles fueled our revolution, and its flames spread across Cybertron. But in the end... like so many things on my home world, it was consumed by war."
"Your home world?" Sarah asked, her head tilted in confusion. "You're not from Copper 9, are you?"
A deep, almost rumbling chuckle escaped Megatron's chest. "No, Sarah. I am not of your world. I am a Cybertronian, a being forged from living metal, hailing from a distant planet called Cybertron. My kind, the Transformers, are far older than anything you've known here."
Sarah blinked in awe, taking in the sheer magnitude of what he was telling her. "So you're, like, an alien robot?" she said, her voice a mix of awe and excitement.
"You could call me that," Megatron replied, a hint of amusement in his tone. "But we are more than machines. We have minds, souls, and ambitions. Cybertron is—or was—a world of great beauty, but also of great suffering."
"Oh..." Sarah's voice softened. "I'm sorry. It sounds like things were really hard."
Megatron looked down at her, a strange sensation tugging at him. Compassion, perhaps? Or was it merely the echo of old wounds? "It is a past that I will carry with me until the end. But you, Sarah, your story... there is a spark of resilience in it. Your world is not yet lost."
Sarah nodded thoughtfully. "I guess we're both trying to survive in worlds that aren't really kind, huh?"
Megatron gave a small, almost imperceptible nod. "Indeed."
The room was uncomfortably silent for what seemed like a while before it was broken by a loud pinging noise of a phone going off.
Reaching into her pocket Sarah pulled out her phone and activating the screen she saw that she had received a message from her mother.
"Oh Crap!" She shouted, "I need to get back to the colony or my moms gonna kill me."
Megatron found himself caught off guard by what she had said. Though he was familiar with Humans and other organic's as having mothers and fathers he however was not expecting to hear it come from a machine.
"Pardon me. But did you just say your Mother would be upset?" Megatron asked.
Sarah was confused by his question but it soon dawned on her that he was an actual alien robot. Though his appearance seemed to be more like that of a drone but larger and definitely more armed and armored.
"Yes I have a mom and I used to have a dad but he's…. No longer with us." She said looking away from Megatron when she mentioned her father.
Megatron didn't know how to respond but knew he had to try and comfort the young drone. Getting down on one knee and placing a hand on her shoulder in as comforting of a tone he could get he apologized.
"Forgive me Sarah? I didn't mean to bring up bad memories." he apologized the best he could.
Sarah looked up and saw the forgiveness in Megatron's eyes. "Oh no it's not your fault. I just got a little carried away." She smiled showing him she was alright. "Now let's get going. I'm sure my moms gonna have a lot of questions and I think everyone's going to want to meet you two back home."
The two soon made their way out of the research lab and into the frozen wasteland of Copper 9's surface. The sun was now high in the sky which for Sarah meant that any remaining murder drones had returned to their nest and wouldn't be back out till night.
"Okay so if we start walking now we should reach my Colony by nightfall." Sarah said as she pulled up her phone's GPS.
"Hmm… I have a better idea." Megatron said as he stepped away from her to give himself room.
With a loud -CHKK CHRR CHRRKK- Megatron began to transform from his bot mode to his vehicle alt mode before Sarah's eyes.
Sarah was blown away by what she had just witnessed before her eyes. So much so that she didn't notice that the bot turned tank was now talking to her.
"Sarah, Sarah…. SARAH!" Megatron shouted.
Sarah was finally snapped out of her stupor. Smiling awkwardly and rubbing the back of her head she apologized and climbed onto Megatron's turret where she made herself comfortable. With Sarah safely onboard Megatron took off in the direction of her home.
Meanwhile back at N, J, and V's spire…
"N you dolt. Get rid of that stupid cassette player this instant!" J ordered as she pointed at the device as it played hot Jazz in the pod.
"But it's so cool and retro." N argued back.
"Come on J just let him keep it. Besides, it gives us something else to listen to besides those annoying company reviews you make us suffer through." V said backing N up.
"First off those reviews are supposed to improve squad morale and tell us what we need to improve upon and secondly that is not a high grade durable product of JCJenson and therefore it must go." She said as she pointed at the landers door hatch.
N having no other choice resorted to his trump card. Getting down on both his knees he activated his sad puppy eyes. His face screen soon showed the image of a sad puppy crying.
J glared at N as he did his display of pleading to let him keep the cassette player. Glancing over to V she saw that she was still giving her the "Your not gonna win" look.
"Ugh… Fine you can keep it N." She said, admitting defeat.
"YAAAAY!" N shouted in delight. He then proceeded to hit the play button as an upbeat rock song started to play.
However the music was soon stopped by V when she hit the pause button.
J smirked at that. "You can listen to it later, idiot. It's time for sleep. So you can listen to it tomorrow, got it!" She said, placing her hands on her hips.
"Aww okay."
The three soon exited the pod and flew up to their own separate spots on the corps spire.
With them gone the player soon jumped in the air and began to shift into a large 7ft tall robot. Soundwave, now in his robot mode, scanned his surroundings making sure he was completely alone. After making sure the pod was secure he then deployed his tendrils that soon connected themselves to the pods control system and began to download all of its information onto his own internal hard-drive.
After downloading all he could from pods damaged computers he then detached from them. He then opened the pod's door and ejected a red and black tap before transforming into a robotic hawk.
"Laserbeak. Operation reconnaissance." He ordered pointing to the exit of the spire.
Laserbeak then stealthily flew out of the spire and towards the open skies of Copper 9. Once he was far enough away from the spire he let out a mighty screech.
Though he was far enough away from the spire not to alert the murder drones his cry did however catch the attention of a certain angsty purple eyed teenage worker drone who was out scavenging for parts for her sick as hell rail gun.
Back with Megatron and Sarah they were still traveling across the frozen waste. Surprisingly to both Megatron and Sarah. His turret actually had a little compartment that allowed Sarah to sit and ride comfortably.
"Sarah!" Megatron spoke.
"Oh… Uhh yes Megatron?" She replied
"Before we arrive at your home. I believe it would be best if we kept my origins a secret from your people for the time being." he said.
"What why?" she asked.
"Though you yourself are willing to accept me and my…. Otherworldly origins, that does not mean the rest of your people will. So for the time being I suggest we pretend that I am a prototype Military Drone. Until such time as they are ready to accept the truth." Megatron said his tone taking on a serious tone.
Sarah pondered Megatron's request in her mind. Though she herself was privy to his origins. But she still didn't know much about him or his past or the ramifications that knowledge could hold. As she continued to ponder his plan the more she began to agree with it. Her mother and the others would more than likely not trust Megatron if they knew he was an alien from outer space; they might just think he's in league with murder drones. But if they believe he's from Copper 9 then they just might trust him enough to let him stay with them. Plus once they told them about how he killed a Murder Drone the colony would be more than happy to let him stay if not beg him too.
"Okay I'll keep your secret Megatron."
Not too long after their conversation they arrived at Sarah's bunker.
"Welp here we are. Bunker 13 home sweet home." She said climbing off of Megatron.
Once she was off Megatron transformed back into robot mode and joined her by the large metal doors.
"Sooo… How do we let them know we're here?" Megatron asked Sarah.
Without saying anything she proceeded to open up a panel and pressed a button that then played a doorbell tune.
Megatron could only look on dumb founded at that fact that she had just rang a doorbell.
After the tune finished playing a camera popped out of another panel before first looking at Sarah and then looking at Megatron before retracting back into its hole. The door then began to open to reveal a group of five Worker Drones with a female at the head with an annoyed look on her face. She was wearing a winter camo jacket, combat boots, and a hard hat. She also had red hair similar to Sarah only her eyes were green.
"Hi mom." Sarah said to the leader of the group.
"Don't you "Hi mom" me young lady do you know how worried I was when you didn't come back last night." Sarah's mom said berating her daughter for making her worry.
It was then she noticed the rather large and heavily armed and armored drone standing behind her daughter.
"Oh umm Sarah who's this?" She asked her daughter.
Sarah, noticing her mom, finally notices Megatron.
"Mom, this is Megatron. Megatron, this is my mother Issabell." She said, gesturing a hand towards him. Megatron in turn and in an attempt to seem less threatening raised his right cannon arm and with his best least threatening smile waved at the assembled drones.
Despite Megatron's best intention and possibly due to the lighting his attempt to seem friendly only made him look more intimidating.
"AAAA!" One of the workers screamed before dropping his gun and running back inside the bunker.
'That could have gone better.' Megatron thought, lowering his arm back down to the side.
Issabell facepalmed at one of her guards' overreaction to Megatron's gestures.
"Anyway. Megatron was it?" Issabell asked looking up at the large bot.
"Greetings ma'am." He said as he walked towards the assembled group. "It is a pleasure to meet you." Now extending his hand in an attempt to perform a handshake with her.
Issabell looked at Megatron's hand then back to him before returning the gesture in kind.
"The pleasure's mine Mr. Megatron." She said, shaking his hand.
"You can tell me more about how you rescued my daughter inside." Letting go of Megatrons and waving everyone inside.
Megatron and Sarah quickly followed the large security doors closing behind them.
Back near Outpost 3, Uzi Doorman was hot on the trail of the metal bird she'd spotted while scavenging for parts for her railgun.
"Where'd you go, you stupid, cool-looking robot bird?" she muttered in frustration.
Rounding a corner, she spotted the bird perched atop an old streetlight. She paused, captivated by its fierce and deadly appearance.
"Heh… you're gonna make one badass wallpaper," she whispered to herself, digging into her pocket for her phone.
But when she looked back up, the bird had disappeared from its perch. Sighing, she tucked her phone away and turned to leave—only to come face-to-face with the cybernetic hawk.
"Oh, Robo-Jesus!" Uzi yelped, startled. She stumbled backward and landed flat on her back, staring up at the intimidating bird.
The metal hawk, Laserbeak, tilted its head, studying her with curiosity. Uzi was frozen, unsure of what to do next as the silent stare-off continued.
Just as Laserbeak seemed about to make a move, a loud noise echoed through the area, followed by a distant transmission from his partner. He let out a piercing screech, hopped into the air, and flew off.
Scrambling to her feet, Uzi watched the bird disappear into the distance. "YEAH, YOU BETTER RUN!" she shouted, throwing a rock in its direction.
With Laserbeak gone and her scavenging efforts turning up empty, she decided to head home. As she walked back, she didn't notice the figure of a black and gold cyber-ninja lurking in the shadows, silently observing her interaction with the strange metal bird.
Back inside Bunker 13, Megatron looked around, impressed by what he saw. The bunker was actually an old mine that the Worker Drones had converted into a livable community. Homes were carved into the rock walls, with structures built from salvaged metal and repurposed mining equipment. They soon entered the large central cavern of the mine, which bustled with activity as drones moved about their daily tasks.
Sarah, eager to show Megatron around, rushed ahead of him and pointed toward a large, man-made structure in the center of the cavern. "That's the Founders Tower," she said, smiling. "It's where my mom and the rest of the council meet."
Megatron observed the tower, noting that it was clearly the mine's old control center, now converted into a seat of governance. Nearby, he noticed various other structures, some clearly remnants from when humans had operated the mine, and others that were new, the work of the Worker Drones' own hands.
"Hmm… well, it would seem your people have done well for themselves, Sarah," he said, stepping onto a freight elevator with the group.
After a quick tour—Sarah pointing out significant areas, with her mother Isabell chiming in only to mention the jail as a subtle warning to Megatron—they finally reached the central tower. Inside, they were led to a large meeting room.
Isabell turned to Megatron, her expression serious. "Now, tell me," she said, crossing her arms, "how does an experimental War Drone end up saving my daughter and manage to kill a Murder Drone?"
Sarah felt a shiver run down her processor, fearing her mother might discover more than she should. But Megatron seemed prepared.
"It's a simple explanation," he replied smoothly, causing Isabell to raise an eyebrow in curiosity. "I am simply superior to them."
Isabell's face shifted to one of confusion, while Sarah looked at Megatron like a deer caught in headlights.
"Allow me to elaborate," he continued before either of them could respond. "Though my answer may seem boastful, it's simply the truth. The Murder Drone I fought lacked any true fighting skill or tactical ability. It kept charging at me in clumsy, frontal attacks that I was able to counter with ease. Whoever designed these Murder Drones prioritized raw power and speed over intelligence."
Isabell unfolded her arms, her skepticism giving way to interest. "So… you're saying these Murder Drones lack real intelligence? That they're predictable?"
"Precisely," Megatron confirmed, casting a quick glance at Sarah, who seemed to relax. "They are effective tools of destruction, yes, but they lack the strategic depth required for true combat. That is why I defeated it so easily."
Isabell looked thoughtfully between Megatron and Sarah. "So, you saved my daughter by chance and decided to follow her back here? Just like that?" She turned to Sarah, clearly seeking confirmation.
Sarah nodded eagerly. "It's true, Mom! He didn't have to help me… but he did."
Isabell sighed, tapping her fingers on the metal railing beside her. "Fine. I'll take your word for it. But make no mistake," she added, directing her gaze at Megatron, "if you pose any threat to this colony, I will make sure every Worker Drone here knows it. I won't risk the safety of my people."
Megatron's expression remained calm, though Sarah sensed a hint of tension. "Understood. I have no intention of causing trouble, Issabell. In fact, I believe I may be able to help your people in ways you haven't yet considered."
Isabell raised an eyebrow, intrigued but cautious. "Help us how, exactly?"
Megatron smiled faintly, his optics glinting. "I have knowledge of warfare, strategy, and survival that could prove invaluable against future attacks. With my assistance, we might even stand a chance against the Murder Drones."
Isabell's gaze softened slightly, though her caution remained. "And what would you want in return?"
"A safe place to operate," Megatron replied, glancing around the cavern, "and a secure base from which I can understand this planet, its people, and its technology. An alliance. You offer me shelter, and I offer you protection."
Isabell mulled over his words, her gaze flicking to Sarah, who nodded encouragingly. After a pause, she extended her hand. "Very well, Megatron. But remember, I'll be watching you closely."
Megatron took her hand, his grip firm yet controlled. "As I would expect, Isabell."
As they locked eyes in a tentative truce, Sarah let out a breath she hadn't realized she was holding. The alliance was fragile, but it was a start—and for now, that was enough.
