Months had gone by and their agreement was working. Whenever one of them was free or in the mood the other would ask or just show up and then they went from there. Hooking up was the easy part, avoiding spending time together now that was hard. Spending time together meant getting to know each other more personally and the chance of catching feelings becoming more likely.
Arizona was back at work now full duty doing her firefighting things, while Callie continued doing her doctor things.
It was night time when the alarm bells went off at the fire station. The team quickly changed to their turn out gear and hopped into their seats while Captain Bishop was giving orders over the headset.
When they arrived on scene, a big truck was tipped over and a man unconscious lying next to it. They were quickly given their orders and rushed into action. Until one of the firefighters who ran in first started screaming.
Capt quickly yelled out for everyone to stop moving as she tried to figure out what was going on. She yelled out for them to get hoses until Arizona stepped in.
"Wait Capt!"
"What Robbins?! We don't have time!"
"No, we can't use water! Look it's an ethanol fire!" She said as she pointed to the logo on the truck. Being mainly from the south they had this happen alot and it was something Arizona was familiar with. Capt nodded and then she yelled out orders for them to turn off all the lights and get the foam. Once the lights were out, you could see the blue flame. The team got the foam hoses and turned them on aiming the thick white foam at the flames. The chemical reaction was immediate, the flames hissing and calming down. Slowly but surely the fire began to fade away, its fierce blue light dimming under the thick coat of foam.
Meanwhile at the hospital
Callie could hear the murmurs and as she turned to look in the direction it was coming from, she noticed the crowd of people gathered around the tv. Curious, she made her way to the front trying to see what all the commotion was about, she stopped, standing next to Bailey.
"Ethanol fire? You ever heard of that?" She asked confused turning to Bailey
"I'm watching the same thing you're watching Torres" Bailey snapped back.
Seeing the scene on the news was making Callie nervous. She glanced over again at Bailey and decided to text Arizona. They were friends, friends check up on each other. She quickly sent a text just asking if she was okay. She looked at the phone screen for a little bit and then shoved it back in her pocket when she didn't receive an answer. Looking at the news was making her nerves bad so she shook her head and went off to try to find some work. She found a broken bone in the ER and sent them off for an xray and then reset it. She checked her phone again. Still no answer. She quickly sent out another text to Arizona asking how the fire's going. She tried to make herself busy but really only ten minutes went by before she sent another text asking Arizona to check in with her. A little while later and still no answer from her. Maybe she should call her? Maybe that would be easier for her to answer? Callie convinced herself and hit the call button. It went to voicemail.
"Uhhh...hey..hi Arizona. It's Callie..well yea of course you know it's me caller ID duh. I just saw the news and wanted to check in and make sure you're okay..give me a call?" Callie nervously rambled out. She shook her head at herself feeling a little embarrassed. She sent a text apologizing for her awkward voicemail.
Not having much work right now, Callie decided she might as well go in an on call room to take a nap. Laying there in the quiet room, she started to overthink. What if something happened to Arizona? She checked her phone again before sighing out and throwing it across the room. No answer again. What if Arizona's not answering because she can't? Not being able to lay still anymore, Callie got up pacing the room up and down. Why was she getting so worked up? Arizona was just a friend? Well really she would care this much about any of her friends. Yeah that's what it was, Callie thought to herself, trying to convince herself. Callie's pager then went off "incoming trauma" she read before she took off to the ER.
Aide car 19 pulled up to the ambulance bay and Callie couldn't help the pit in her stomach she felt when she saw the car.
Vic and Travis jump out the car with a male patient and Callie can't help the little relief she feels. Once they hand off the patient Callie looks at them "Tell Robbins to learn how to answer her damn phone"
"Actually she should be here shortly. We all need to get checked from the smoke." Travis answered trying to be helpful. Callie just rolled her eyes walking away.
Shortly after the engine truck pulled up. "Yo Robbins you pissed someone off." Travis couldn't help yelling as soon as she got out of the truck.
"Yea some fiery hot Latina" Vic said, messing with her.
Arizona looked confused. "Uhh..judging by your face you better figure it out what you did quick." Vic said
"Yea she's kind of scary." Travis said, shrugging.
Arizona shook her head at them as she made her way inside the ER and she could hear them yelling. "Ouuuu Robbins has a girlfrienddd" She figured she should get checked in and get checked out first and then go deal with whatever those fools were talking about.
