A/N: Sean and Lorelei finally meet their baby girl.
*Sean's POV*
The past week had been both the most nerve wracking and happiest of his life. Lorelei had ended up in hospital, her health worsening. They'd received the news that their little girl was going be arriving much sooner than they had expected. There had been concern about what would follow delivery. Would she be healthy? Were they going to lose her? Thankfully, the delivery had gone well for both his girls with no complications.
*Flashback*
"Alright, we're about to begin. Lorelei, feeling nice and numb?" Dr Brody asked from where she was standing near Lorelei's belly.
Lorelei was laying on the table, a small curtain up so she was unable to see what was being done to her. Sean was sitting by her head, gowned up. In answer to Dr Brody's question, Lorelei gave her a thumbs up. He could tell his soulmate was trying to be brave, but he could see the fear on her face.
"Ok. Remember, you shouldn't feel any pain. All you should feel is some tugging and pulling. But you let know if you feel any pain."
"Yep." Lorelei said, glancing at Sean, clutching his hand tight as he pressed a kiss to her forehead.
"Not long now." He told her and she smiled up at him.
Minutes passed by. "How you doing Lorelei?"
"God, this feels so weird." His soulmate commented.
"No pain?"
"Nope. No pain."
More time passed, Sean kept talking to Lorelei, keeping her calm. And then he heard a cry. "Here she is." Dr Brody said.
Sean glanced up over the curtain and saw Dr Brody pass his daughter over to a nurse who wrapped her in blanket and hurried to a nearby table to begin running tests. Sean didn't take his eyes off them for a second. They knew it was necessary, having been warned it would occur. "Is she ok?" Lorelei cried. "I heard her cry, I heard her cry, right?"
Sean nodded, pressing a kiss to her forehead again. "You did. She cried. You did such a good job mon amour."
And then Olivia was being placed on Lorelei's chest. "Congratulations you two. She's looking good. And what a set of lungs. We'll have some skin on skin contact before we get her cleaned up."
All Sean could do was stare in awe, his hand coming to rest on Olivia's little head as Lorelei's came rest on her back. "Hi baby. Hi." Lorelei said, tears streaming down her cheeks. Not that Sean wasn't in the same boat. Lorelei glanced at Sean. "We did it."
Pressing another kiss to forehead, Sean nodded, unable to speak. All he could do was look at his girls.
*End Flashback*
Lorelei and Olivia had been moved to the recovery room once Lorelei was stitched up. Olivia was cleaned up, dressed, and placed back in Lorelei's arms. A couple more tests had been conducted, but they were fairly certain that Olivia was completely healthy, if not a little small for a newborn, despite being born 7 weeks premature. There wasn't even any need to take her to the NICU. They would, of course, keep an eye on her but they saw no reason why she couldn't be in the room with Lorelei. Sean had taken a photo and sent it to Nick, letting him know that everything was alright.
It was in the recovery room that Sean was finally able to hold his daughter for the first time. He had stared down at her, unable to believe she was really here. He had, for a moment, thought of Diana although he had pushed her to the back of his mind. He needed to focus on Olivia. Olivia was as beautiful as her mother. Sean hadn't wanted to let go of her, only doing so to allow Lorelei to nurse her for the first time. They had been moved back to the ward, Sean holding Olivia close.
"Where did that stuff come from?" Lorelei asked, glancing at the bags sitting against the wall near the window.
"Oh, I sent Melody a message yesterday, asking if she could bring some stuff over for us. I also asked if she and Katie could keep Molly and Daisy for a few days."
Lorelei nodded. "Melody definitely understood the assignment. I can't wait to put on my own pyjamas." She commented, as Sean came to sit on the bed beside her. Lorelei smiled at the both of them as she settled back against the pillows. "I can't believe she's really here. And completely healthy. I thought for sure she may have to spend some time in the NICU."
"I suppose we should count our blessings."
Lorelei nodded again. "I do wonder though. How did she manage to grow so fast? I mean, do you think Adalind did something?"
Sean shrugged. Adalind. After she had come to see him the other night, he had felt an obligation to help her get back on her feet. He'd arranged for her to stay in a hotel. Not the same one he planned on staying in with Lorelei and Olivia, but one close by. Sean did not trust Adalind. He had no doubt that she would plan something soon. It was just a matter of time. Another reason he was helping her, so he could keep an eye on her.
Sean hadn't yet told Lorelei that they would be unable to return home straight away. She was unaware that Weston Steward was still on the lose and may still pose a danger to them. He had arranged a suite in a hotel downtown. Hopefully it would be safe enough. Sean was not going to let Weston, or his family get their hands on Lorelei or Olivia.
Not long after Lorelei was served a small late lunch, Nick and Hank arrived, with a woman around Lorelei's age, they identified as a Grimm. Sean had looked at her suspiciously, only to find her doing the same with him. Sean hoped Nick knew what he was doing, allowing the woman, who went by Trubel, to stick around. Perhaps she would turn out to be an asset as well.
Three days after Olivia's birth, Doctor Brody discharged his girls from the hospital. Lorelei had been up and walking by the next day while Olivia was feeding well and gaining weight. Sean had briefly left the two at the hospital to get Lorelei's car, which had the baby car seat, and the items on the very long list she had given him. He had made sure the items were taken up to their suite before returning to the hospital. Although she was disappointed about not being able to return to their home, she understood Sean's concerns. Few people would know exactly where they were staying. Nick and Juliette, Monroe and Rosalee, and Hank being those few people. A sort of roster had been made so that Lorelei and Olivia wouldn't be left alone for long. Although Sean was technically on paternity leave, he wanted to try and track down Weston Steward. Lorelei had felt a little guilty taking up everyone's time, especially since Monroe and Rosalee's wedding was coming up in less than a week. Dr Brody had given Lorelei permission to attend the wedding rehearsal and the wedding, as long as she took it easy. Sean knew that nothing would stop his soulmate from attending the wedding of her two best friends, and fulfiling her duties as grooms woman.
They had arrived at the hotel, the valet taking the car while Sean carried Olivia in her carseat and escorted Lorelei through the lobby and up to their suite. "Wow, this is nice." Lorelei commented, looking around as Sean led her inside.
"It's not home, but it will do. As you can see, there is a sitting room here and the bedroom is through here." Sean told her, carrying Olivia into bedroom. He placed the carseat on the bed and removed Olivia from it.
"I assume the bathroom is in there." Lorelei said, pointing to an entryway near where the bassinet was set up. Sean was grateful Lorelei had the forsight to purchase a portable one that could also function as a changing table. It would come in handy.
"It is." Sean confirmed as he moved to place Olivia in the bassinet. He turned to face Lorelei who had seated herself on the bed. "The room service menu and some for surrounding restaurants are by the phone in the sitting room. However, if you need anything else you can let staff know and they will be happy to help."
Lorelei smiled at him. "Great way of making sure I take it easy."
"That is an added benefit." He admitted returning the smile as he came to sit on the bed beside her. The smile left his face as he sighed. "I'm sorry we are unable to return home. I just…can't risk it."
Lorelei's face softened and she shifted to grab his hand. "Sean, you are protecting us. And I don't care where we are, as long as the three of us are together."
"Thank you for understanding." Sean told her before leaning forward to kiss her. "I love you."
"I love you."
*Lorelei's POV*
What a week. From Adalind showing up with Diana, to the weird sleepover at Monroe and Rosalee's, the news the Royal's had gotten their hands on Diana, and then Lorelei's hospitalisation and Olivia's premature birth. It had been a rollercoaster of emotions. The best news had been that Olivia was perfectly healthy and could be released from hospital three days after her birth. Lorelei was both terrified at the thought of not having the nurses around to help with the baby and happy to finally get some semblance of privacy. To just enjoying being a mother with her fiancé and their baby. She was disappointed that they wouldn't be returning to their own home, but Lorelei could understand why. The FBI agent was still on the lose and who knows whether the Royals would be sending anyone else. Sean had confessed to Lorelei that he had handed Diana over to his cousin, only after the lives of Adalind, his mother, and Sean himself had been threatened. However, Lorelei had her doubts that Diana was still in the hands of the Royals. Sean may have handed Diana over, but Lorelei doubted he allowed them to leave the country with her. Lorelei even had her suspicions on who had Diana, but she would keep her mouth shut so as not to endanger anyone.
The birth of her daughter had been strange. She had been awake but numbed below the waist. There was no pain, but she could feel everything. And, as much as she had tried to hide it, she was terrified. Terrified for her baby's life and terrified for her own. Even the knowledge that Olivia had magically grown within the space of less than a week, did not alleviate her fears. But when she heard that cry and had her baby placed on her chest shortly after, her fears had disappeared and all she felt was at outpouring of love for her baby girl. Thankfully, her little girl was given a clean bill of health, which baffled the doctors who were expecting her to spend some time in the NICU.
The next few days were a blur. People were coming and going, wanting to meet the baby. Nick and Hank had shown up the first day, with a young Grimm they had found called Trubel who was staying with Nick and Juliette. Juliette had stopped by on the way to work the next day, while Monroe and Rosalee came by after lunch. Sean's mother, Elizabeth had been in contact with plans to move her visit to Portland forward. Lorelei was nervous about that one. It was one thing speaking with the hexenbiest through phone and videos calls, it would be another thing being in the same room as her. She had received a lot of messages and phone calls from her friends, as well as Rosalee's mother and sister, and Monroe's parents. The latter were most excited to meet the baby the following week at the wedding rehearsal. Lorelei was grateful that she had received permission from Doctor Brody to attend the wedding, on the condition she spent the days leading up to it taking it easy.
Finally, Lorelei and Olivia were discharged. Sean drove them to the hotel they would be living in for the time being. It was nice and Lorelei knew they would be comfortable there. Sean had expressed guilt for not being able to bring them home. Lorelei had tried to do her best to alleviate that guilt. He was doing what he thought was best to keep them safe. How could she be upset about that? Although Lorelei had not yet moved passed Sean cheating on her, she did not have the energy to be mad at him. He had been remorseful and taken ownership of his fuck up. Besides, Lorelei loved him, he was her soulmate, and she wanted to continue being with him. Plus, seeing his reaction to her getting along with Adalind had been hilarious.
Lorelei was grateful to Adalind for helping her, but that didn't mean she trusted the woman or even really liked her. She had felt empathy for the woman and related to her as a mother. Sean had been concerned, warning Lorelei that Adalind could be planning something. And Lorelei agreed. She was aware that Sean was paying for Adalind's house and had arranged for her to have what she needed. Sean was anxious about what Adalind could do and who she would target. It was only a matter of waiting.
