"As you walk on by, will you call my name?"

Don't You (Forget About Me) by Simple Minds

CURRENTLY, SEVYN AND Paul were bouncing around the fountain, dancing to some of his rock. She wasn't a huge fan of 80s music, but she couldn't resist dancing with the blond rocker. Bouncing around and headbanging to the beat with him was a thrill in and of itself.

"Oh! I have a song for you guys, it kinda reminds me of you guys," Sevyn called out, dashing over to pause Paul's music - causing him to squawk in protest. She waved a dismissive hand at him before sprinting to her bag that she'd left on the couch.

She rummaged through her purse and pulled out her phone. Marko and Paul immediately gathered around her, eyeing her phone with curiosity. "What's that?" Marko asked.

"It's my cell phone. I have tons of music on here," she explained as she scrolled through her downloaded songs on Spotify. She found what she was looking for and put on "Heathens" by Twenty One Pilots.

As the song played, Paul snatched her phone and started scrolling through all her music, his head nodding along to the song. His eyebrows shot up when he landed on the name of a playlist. "Villain Vibes?" He raised his eyebrows suggestively, causing Sevyn to laugh and blush.

"It's exactly how it sounds," she admitted, leaning over to peek at the screen. "It's all badass songs; not a lot of rock on there, though." Humming thoughtfully, she considered their options before picking her rock playlist.

The two crazy blondes whooped and started dancing around again, head-banging to Coheed and Cambria. They dragged her into their spur-of-the-moment party, and she jumped right back in, laughing.

This continued for a few songs before Sevyn, feeling out of breath, plopped down on the couch with a puff of air. Her cheeks were flushed from all the dancing. She really needed to work on her cardio.

When she looked up, she met Dwayne's gaze. Immediately, she sat up straighter, a wave of nervousness washing over her. Why was he staring at her like that? Self-consciously, she reached up to try and fix her short hair, which she assumed was a mess from her dancing.

Before she could ask, Paul threw himself down on the couch beside her with a wide grin. He reached over and trailed his index finger along her heavily pierced ear, making her shiver. "When did you get your tongue pierced?" he asked.

Sevyn eyed him warily, her cheeks stained pink. "About a year ago after my ex-girlfriend dared me one night while we were wasted," she mumbled, surprised he hadn't said anything before.

She remembered the night in fragments, it was a dumb thing to do while drunk, but she could never be accused of making good decisions. Really, it's the piercer's fault.

Paul stared at her for a moment. "Girlfriend?"

"Yes, girlfriend. Why?" She shot him a warning glare, anticipating a homophobic comment.

"I just thought you were straight," Paul explained.

"I'm bisexual," Sevyn clarified. "And before you start, don't you dare say that bi people are just lying to themselves or are chronic cheaters. That's the most ignorant thing-" She began to rant before he cut her off.

Paul held up his hands playfully. "Didn't even cross my mind. It's cool you know what you want. And honestly," he winked, "it's hella sexy," he crooned with a smirk. "I just worried I didn't have a chance."

"Oh," was all she could manage after he took the wind out of her sails, before the second half of his statement sunk in. "You don't!" But even she didn't believe herself.

This seemed to amuse the boys, who all burst into laughter. Sevyn huffed and playfully threw a pillow at Paul.

He dodged the attack and pulled a joint from his pocket, lighting it up. The vampire took a puff before offering it to her. She smiled and took the pot graciously, inhaling deeply before passing it back.

"Remind me to bring my pot next time," she said, feeling a pleasant lightness settle over her. "Our stuff is better than what you have in your time, not that this is bad - it's actually legal in the future so they've been working on it."

"Woah, it's legal? That's awesome!" Paul exclaimed, his eyes wide with wonder.

Sevyn chuckled and took the joint back for another puff before handing it to Marko, who was waiting patiently.

"Yeah, it's great. I have tons back at my place," she said. "I've been stocking up, which I'm thankful for now. I'll bring it with me next time and get you all properly high. What strain do you like the most?"

"Northern Lights Number Five x Haze," Paul said, still buzzing with excitement.

"Oo, good choice, it fits you," Sevyn remarked. "I read that it was a popular strain in the 80s."

"Okay, what's yours? What's good from your time?" The joint finally made its way back to him after making the rounds.

"I read that Melo is really popular this year, but I think Wedding Cake is my favorite," Sevyn explained, realizing how much she sounded like a dork.

Marko's grin widened with mischief. "You read about it? Sounds like you're a bigger stoner than Paul."

"I am not!" she scoffed, clearly embarrassed. "I was just curious, okay? Besides, I've looked up weirder stuff."

"Like what?" Marko challenged with a playful glint in his eyes.

Sevyn huffed, pouting slightly. "Look, when you're bored and have the whole internet at your fingertips, who wouldn't fall down a weird rabbit hole? Honestly."

This time, the boys' laughter didn't sting as much. Sevyn was comfortably high, and it would take more than a little teasing to ruin her mood. After all, she was hanging out in the infamous cave with some of her favorite vampires! She was being a total fangirl tonight.

Dwayne caught her eye again, but this time, he gestured for her to join him. Feeling pleasantly lightheaded, Sevyn simply blinked and materialized in his lap. Her arms were looped around his neck, her legs draped over his as she perched herself on his thigh. If he was startled by her sudden appearance, he didn't show it.

"What're you staring at?" she asked breathily, her eyes locked on his.

"Just wondering where else you might have freckles," he admitted, causing a blush to creep up her cheeks.

Speechless, Sevyn simply made a playful face at him, a silent response that only earned a chuckle from Dwayne. He was clearly enjoying her company, especially the more time she spent with them. She wasn't what he expected, a welcome change from the norm. It wasn't often they found a human they could truly relax around and be themselves with.

Lost in his gorgeous hair, Sevyn couldn't resist reaching up and threading her fingers through the soft strands. Now that she was close enough to touch, she took the opportunity to admire him. His eyes fluttered shut as she stroked his hair, enjoying the sensation immensely.

Dwayne didn't mind the touch one bit. In fact, he rather liked it, especially because he could feel the jealousy radiating off Paul. A smug smile played on his lips.

"How is it you all have such amazing hair?" she complained absentmindedly. "Mullets shouldn't even be attractive, but you guys make them look incredible. Then there is this gorgeous mane. It's just not fair how sexy you all are."

David smirked at her intoxicated confession. "You think we're sexy, kitten?" he teased.

Sevyn rolled her eyes playfully. "Duh, like you don't know. You guys are like, ridiculously sexy. It's hard to look at you guys sometimes. Serious thirst traps," she said, her inhibitions clearly lowered.

"Thirst trap? What's that?" Paul asked, confused but amused.

"It means you guys make people thirsty," Sevyn explained, her eyes glued to her hand moving through Dwayne's hair. "Or horny, I guess. Thirst traps are basically just super attractive people, sometimes they post pictures and videos of themselves on the internet."

Paul and Marko burst into laughter, clearly pleased with her description. "Well thanks, pixie girl," Marko said, offering a rare compliment. "You're pretty damn sexy yourself."

His words sent another wave of heat to her cheeks. She giggled and winked at him instead of her usual stuttering denials. He liked her confident.

She really was high.

It was strange how the more time she spent with them; the more Marko found himself drawn to her. Unlike Star or any other human they'd encountered, Sevyn was undeniably different. He meant what he said earlier - it was a relief not to have to hide around her.

The rest of the night flowed with light conversation and a comfortable camaraderie. Sevyn had to admit, it was easily the best night she'd had since arriving. She didn't realize how much she needed this until tonight. Here's hoping the good times continued and that somehow, everything would be okay in the end.

With sunrise thirty minutes away, Sevyn announced it was time for her to head home. She gathered her belongings, gave the boys a jaunty salute, and blinked back to her cottage. There, she promptly collapsed onto her bed and drifted off to sleep.
