Theory#13: Joule may have been experimented on by Dr. Kamizono.

Joule gained the entirety of the Muse Septima while working for Sumeragi. However, Dr. Kamizono is the only known employee to have access to Mytyl. He may have implanted the Septima into Joule after removing it from Mytyl. In ASG1, Joule asks Gunvolt if he's a scientist during the Anthem mission dialogue. The machine made for Joule as Adept sonar was also made by Dr. Kamizono as well. This was confirmed by Nova during the conversation between him and Gunvolt that takes place before the fight. He may have been assigned to Joule specifically because of his knowledge regarding the Muse Septima.

Dr. Kamizono was devastated when he learned the news. His youngest child, his daughter was born an Adept. She had a Septima, and it had to be removed. He extracted it.

The procedure was certainly painful, for both parties invovled. Had it not been removed however, Mytyl wouldn't have lasted another second most likely. Her Muse Septima was placed somewhere it should never have been found. Yet, fate had other plans in store for the Septima.

Some way, somehow, the Septima was discovered and Sumeragi intended to use it. They needed someone to use the Septima on. However, with the new housing plans, homeless test subjects were in short supply. It seemed one would simply have to be made.

It was decided that worker's would donate some of their DNA in order for it to be studied. Once a probability test was run, it would be mixed with a Septima gene. Only Dr. Kamizono volunteered. It was his daughter's Septima, he knew it best.

Therefore, he was in charge of what was now called "Project Muse". The idea of them dong this sickened him to a high degree. After work that day, he told his wife about the dilemma.

"I don't understand why they would want to do something so insane. But then again, this is Sumeragi we're talking about after all. I donated some of my DNA, I don't want anyone else getting involved." Dr. Kamizono informed.

"If this means that they won't use Mytyl, I'll donate mine as well. It may help increase the odds." his wife offered as she held their son.

Dr. Kamizono nodded, taking a sample later that day. When he returned to work the following day, he was nervous. It didn't show, but the concerns he had were starting to pile up. The subject's development was stable.

It would take 9 months to find out if the Septima gene would take. The Septima gene quickly took root, allowing everyone involved in the project to take a sigh of relief. The girl was named Joule, and wouldn't know until later on what significance her name held.

Gunvolt was tasked to destroy the data of a program called Lumen. She was known by many other names, but this one in particular. She was said to be a tool for tracking Adepts. QUILL picked up on this through a hacking of September Record.

Sumeragi created the game, which was run by Merak. Someone who Gunvolt had fought earlier after taking down a Mantis tank. He finally found the train car Lumen was being stowed on and hacked the security door. It opened and closed swiftly.

A machine in the center of the car lit up, revealing a girl inside. She was only about 4'3 with purple hair wearing a blue dress and blue shoes. There was equipment around her head and neck linking her to the machine.

"Who are you? You aren't a scientist." the girl questioned.

Gunvolt's eyes widened in shock as he realized the girl was communicating with him through telepathy. Another girl was present in the room as well. However, this one appeared to be floating above the ground. She had long blond hair, tied into a ponytail, with two pink strips that mimicked a butterfly's antenna.

On her head she wore a butterfly-shaped hairband, that also functioned as headphones. She had rather large wings, gleaming blue with a sea blue on its borders and white details. She had a white dress with blue and purple stripes and white triangle details at the end of her skirt.

"Are you Lumen?" Gunvolt assumed.

"I'm a manifestation of her Septimal power. Most know me as 'The Muse". You're not a Sumeragi scientist, right? Please... Will you get her... Us... Out of this place?" Lumen hoped.

Not knowing what else to do, Gunvolt turned to Asimov for support.

"This is GV. I've engaged the target. Update the mission information. The Muse is no computer program. She's a young girl, and an Adept too." Gunvolt informed.

"Say what?!" Moniqa shouted.

"She's not hostile. Seems Sumeragi been holding her against her will." Gunvolt explained.

"Those Sumeragi punks... They play so dirty." Zeno seethed.

"New mission objective: I'm gonna rescue the girl..." Gunvolt stated.

"You will do no such thing. Eliminate the girl, GV." Asimov demanded.

"Asimov!?" Gunvolt gasped.

"Sumeragi's goons are coming. How will you get her out? She might be a trap. You may give temporary safety, but then what will you do? Does she really have a place with us at QUILL?" Asimov warned.

"That's...!" But Gunvolt was cut off by the girl in the machine.

"If that's the case... Please... Just kill me. They just use my songs... To torment everyone. I want no part of that... So... Please... Just put an end to me." the girl requested.

It was then that it hit him. Gunvolt's painful past of working for Sumeragi came back to bite him. In the form of a girl only a year younger than him.

"Don't be willing to throw your life away so easily! If you wish to be free, I'll do what I can to make that happen. I want to help you, so tell me. What do you desire the most?" Gunvolt remarked.

"I... I want to break out of here, and sing my songs!" Joule replied.

"OK, you got it. ...Asimov, I'm taking my leave of QUILL. Now, just like you did for me back when you gave me my freedom... I am going to do everything I can for her." Gunvolt guaranteed.

"So that's your idea of "freedom", Gunvolt?" Asimov assumed.

"Yeah..." Gunvolt confirmed.

"Very well. You are no longer required to obey our orders. Your name will be removed from our roster." Asimov notified.

"Hey, come on you guys! What're you saying here?!" Moniqa wondered.

"Seriously dudes. This is overdoing it!" Zeno complained.

"It's fine... Thanks for everything Moniqa, Zeno." Gunvolt thanked.

"We'll take it from here. Leave the reinforcements to us. As of now, you are not a member of QUILL, just a normal civilian. ...Good luck." Asimov added.

"Thank you, Asimov." Gunvolt spoke.

Gunvolt shot the glass with a Dullahan bullet, causing it to shatter. He removed the girl as the equipment removed fell off her.

"Feathers? ...Are you... An angel?" the girl guessed.

" I'm GV... Gunvolt. What's your name?" Gunvolt answered.

"I'm Joule." Joule responded.

"Hey GV, I found this file. I was wondering if you could take a look at it." Kirin hoped.

Gunvolt walked over to look at the file.

"That's the file Asimov told me about. Wait, that name, it's so familiar." Gunvolt remembered.

"What about it?" Kirin wondered.

Gunvolt read more and audibly gasped.

"T-t-th-this can't be right." Gunvolt worried.

"Are you okay?" Kirin worried.

"If this is true, then that means Copen's father created Joule from Mytyl's DNA. That's why she fused with Mytyl all those years ago." Gunvolt realized.

"I'm sorry we didn't tell you GV. We just thought that, if you knew, that you wouldn't want us to be with you anymore." Lumen apologized.

"Of course I always want to be with you. You've helped me through so much and always stayed by my side. The least I can do is accept you as you are. Regardless of who or what happened to you." Gunvolt answered.

"I'm gonna be sick." Kirin muttered as she got up and walked off.

"H-hey!" Gunvolt huffed.
