Oops I did it again
Why did he ask Rusty to come with him? He could just have picked up any computer by himself. No, Andy had to feel insecure, like always. It could have been worse though, he nearly asked Tao. The kid was something but Mike was way much worse. At least, Rusty would not suggest something completely out of budget and brag about the salary he made on Badge. Plus Andy will earn good points with his mom, that is always a good thing when one is about to propose.
So together they strolled in the nearly empty alleys of Best Buy. They briefly discussed his needs in terms of technology and a second later, his step son suggested either an IPad or a MacBook. The young man pointed out that both were user friendly. Andy had tried Sharon's Mac once or twice. He had to admit it was pretty intuitive. Rusty noted that he could have his photos synchronized between his phone and computer. That Andy liked a lot. The phone screen was tiny and his eyesight was not getting any better. A vendor came to offer his help, making Rusty blush. Andy had a few more questions that were responded with way too much sarcasm by Rusty who was trying to impress the other dude. Well at least now Andy knew that he could have his calendar, notes and messages on the computer too and continue to share them with Sharon. That's what sold him. Plus Sharon had the exact same model and she liked it a lot. She never complained about any problem, not even updates like on his dying computer.
When they came home, Rusty went directly to his bedroom. If Andy had to bet, he'd say he was now texting the young dude from earlier. At least Andy had the living room for himself and time to set up his new toy. He took possession of Sharon's desk, turned on the sports channel and got to work.
For his birthday, his kids had gifted him a super nice camera. Of course, he didn't really know how to use it. For now he had try the «automatic plus» and «sunset» features but with more times on his hands and his beautiful model, he was hoping to improve his skills. He wanted to be ready for their honeymoon. And then their retirement, but that was still up to négociation with his lover. He tried to connect his camera but the fucking computer had no usb ports. He was about to go and yell at Rusty, when the young man came to grab something to drink. The little pest made fun of his age, like if he was as ignorant as Provenza. He then showed Andy how to take the SD card out of the camera and where to put it in the computer. He was a jerk but at least he was useful.
The photos were amazing. He wasn't sure who took them, he'd seen the camera pass from hands to hands (Ricky, Nicole, Em, Rusty and even Tao and Buzz) but they were all more marvelous. Sharon really played her cards well to give him the perfect surprise birthday party. All wearing white was such a wonderful idea on her part. They really stood up against the sky and the ocean while giving them an angelic and romantic glow. He stopped swiping.
That was THE photo. The most beautiful, romantic and candid shot he'd ever seen. If he didn't know it was him on it, he would not believe it. The sun was starting to set, painting the sky in pink and orange hues. A soft breeze came from the sea, twirling Sharon's hair. As he was thanking her once again for the party, he put back in place a strand of hair. She was looking in his eyes, hers a wonderful green. She was smiling, all soft, loving and sincere. The picture reflected perfectly the love they held for one another. He caressed her red hair on the screen with his fingertips, smiling fondly. Oh, he couldn't wait tonight to share it with her. He was sure it'll even help her go through her last meetings.
Sending an email was harder than anticipated. He did not understand why he couldn't do it with his normal Gmail account. The most important thing was that she received it though. He'll ask her tonight how to manage his many accounts. He'd ask the Kid right away but didn't want the him to fall upon sensitive professional matters, nor personal ones. Lighthearted, he went into the kitchen to grab a soda. Before he had even time to empty it in a glass, his phone started buzzing like crazy.
As he grabbed it, he saw several emails from present and former coworkers: «Who's the hottie, man?!», «Raydor, really?», «Watch out for your dick, we don't know what the wicked witch do to little wieners…», "Whhooohooo Andy!" . He folded his mouth on the side, rubbing his brows. How was he going to explain that to… bip bip « I guess you found a new computer…» another bip. «Don't TOUCH it before I come back!» bip bip«And don't touch anything else then the remote!»
« Well, that work out great. » he thought to himself, closing the computer with a thud.
