Chapter 3: Twilight Zone
So, I don't know what to write here, I'm only writing, because it helps calm me down, as my mom says. I still don't believe that, Anyways I guess all I really have to say is that, I'm kind of annoyed with my mom, she's great, just a bit protective. At this point, I don't really have much to say other than that I don't understand what that award is or was, or better question, why is it connected to my magic, or Shadowbane magic. Well hopefully, I'll figure it out, except for the fact that I don't know where it is, Well I'll figure it out.
Jay put his Journal back on his desk, and opened up his laptop, to see if he could find out more of the data he got from scanning the history award made of Umbrasite, which he himself didn't understand. Unfortunately, the scanning didn't fully finish "Ugh, great" Jay muttered. Outside we see Mrs. Mallard on the window balcony peeking right through the window, "You escaped me yesterday, but today you won't" Ms. Mallard whispered, while accidentally knocking over a flower pot and shattered "Again, What's going on out there" Jay muttered walking towards the window.
"Ugh, Cursed Shadowbane Luck" muttered, As Jay opened the window and looked outside he didn't see anything as is hanging from the lower rail of the balcony. "Huh, that's strange, it may be dark, but no point of trying" Jay said while lifting up the broken ceramic pieces from the ground and used some magic to put the pot back together, then closed the window.
We then see a darkened bunker with shelves stocked up with bottles of mystical ingredients and lots of history and Magic books. There's a figure in a blackened cloak reading books. "Wel, how did the mission gol" The figure said to another person in the bunker, "It didn't go well sir" the other figure said. "What, I gave you one mission hunter, and that was to terminate the kid" The cloaked figure said. "I know, but he almost figured me out, I didn't know what else to do" The figure said. "I don't know, shoot him, anything to get rid of him, remember Helen, we must rid the world of these monsters" The cloaked figure said. "But sir, I think I found a way to get rid of all the Shadowbane's, and I think, it's more efficient than using Ambrosius Chroma-Term Solute" the figure said. The cloaked figure perked up "What do you mean?" he asked. "We have to perform the Twilight Zone Ritual" the figure said and the cloaked figure grinned.
Alarms blared in Jay's room and this time he tuned his hearing to ultra loud. "Ugh, I need to make a mental note to never tune my hearing to supersonic" Jay mumbles. "Jay, You need to get ready right now, mom wants to talk to you before school" Meryl said down the hall. "I'm coming, sis" Jay mumbles getting out of bed and got ready for school, wearing a black T-shirt with a silver spade design, slim blue jeans, his silver sapphire pendant, and black sneakers. Lisbeth is downstairs sipping her cappuccino, whilst working on her computer, Jay sneaks around the door disappearing Into the shadows hoping to not get caught by his mother.
"Good morning, Jay" Lisbeth said without taking her eyes off her computer, "Morning, Mom" Jay said reappearing from the shadows. "Jay, In here please " Lisbeth said calling from her office, Jay shrugged as he walked over to the office. Lisbeth is still typing away in her computer as Jay enters the room Lisbeth pauses what she's doing and looks at her son "Jay, there's something I need to tell you" she said sadly. Jay could barely get the words out, which he found strange, sure he could barely talk to other people at school, but to his mother it's much easier.
"Hon, Uhm I haven't been that honest with you since Dad died, the day before he died he told me about something, that I should never tell you" she said with tears rolling down her face. "M…Mom, what, what did Dad tell you" Jay said sounding scared which he was. "He told me that your not ordinary.." she said, "Of course I'm not ordinary, I'm a Shadowbane Mom, nothings ordinary for me" Jay scorned that that was all she had to say, "No, not that, what I mean is that your not an ordinary Shadowbane" Lisbeth said, "What do you mean by not ordinary Shadowbane" Jay said, "When Dad died he told me that your powers are far greater than other Shadowbane's, and aren't as easy to control…" Lisbeth said clutching a picture in her hand, "Mom, what do you mean not easy to control" Jay said, freaking out.
"Sorry, hon that's all that I know, but he did give me this when he told me this" she said handing Jay a silver bracelet with 3 teal crystals. "A bracelet, Mom I don't understand" Jay said confused "A bracelet what could my powers have to do with this". "I'm unsure, he just gave it to me and told me to give it to you, now listen carefully, the day the glistening silver sun reaches its peak in the forest, something could happen, that's all I know" She said. Jay stood there with the bracelet in his hands then left for school, leaving his mother there with the picture of Cliff in her hands.
As Jay was walking his way to school he's still trying to figure out what his mother had just told him, why was this bracelet important and what was his mother keeping from him. When Jay walked less than 3 blocks from his home he ran into Chad and his friends Cole and Nya's brother Kai, man why did Nya have to be related to such a jerk. "Hey, man sorry about yesterday, we noticed that you were looking a bit, I don't know freaky" Chad said shoving Jay on the sidewalk, "Oh, Sorry bud, let me help you help" Chad said reaching out to grab Jay's hand, as Jay grabbed his hand he felt a shock run through his veins. "What's your problem" Jay mumbled, "Who are you talking to freak, no one cares about you, no one" Chad said.
"Back off" Jay said, "Or what you'll throw a punch, I don't think so" Chad said, Jay was already angry and when he's angry he can't help it, but the next second Chad is going in the opposite direction and lands in a marketplace trough full with fruits and vegetables, cuts and bruises start appearing on Chad all over his face, arms, and even legs. "I knew it, you are a freak, look what you did" Chad shrieked. Jay's a bit confused "I didn't do anything" Jay said unsure, "At least I don't think I did" he said now questioning something, "Get him you two" Chad screamed, "I don't know Chad, he's not worth it" Cole said, Kai seems shocked at this and's about to say something, but's cut off my Chad "Not worth it, not worth it, Cole he's totally worth it, he's a freak, if your not going to do it then run back to your music group, oh right they kicked you out" he screamed, he glanced to were Jay was, but he doesn't see him there "You dingbat, you let him escape, whatever just help me out of here…Where's Cole" Chad screamed noticing he's also gone, Kai helps Chad out of the trough, "Mark my words, I'll be coming for you Jay" Chad said as Kai's just standing there.
Jay looks over the building wall he's behind when Chad and Kai walked away. "Thanks I guess, but why'd you do that" Jay asked Cole who's standing behind him, "Ok, for the record, I didn't save you, and I don't know what your talking about" Cole said, "Well, let me think, I know I didn't fling your pal Chad, I know Kai didn't do it either, your a Shadowbane aren't you" Jay said without question. "No, I'm not" Cole grumbled, "Besides how do you know about Shadowbane's" Cole said, "Because…I'm one too" Jay said, "Uhm, I'm just going to go now, see you at school" Jay said walking out of where they were, Cole gets up from where he is and teleports away.
At School Nya is getting some notebooks from her locker "Ugh, Where is Kai, he should be here right now". "Probably with Chad, targeting other students, remember they love doing that" Harumi said while applying makeup. "Ugh, I'm just going to call him, he's supposed to be at school, not targeting others" Nya said grabbing her phone and calling Kai who picked up instantly "Kai, where are you…" Nya started before she heard an echo closer, realizing he was really in the closest room "Kai, GET OUT" she screamed into her phone as she hung up.
"Are you alright Nya, you seem a bit worked up about something" Harumi asked concerned, noticing that Pixel wasn't paying attention Harumi bumped her arm "Yeah, I noticed it too, Gee Harumi" Pixel muttered. "It's alright girls, I'm just a bit nervous about this upcoming weekend" Nya answered. "About what" Harumi asked, "My entire family is coming over next weekend, normally we have an annual Smith family reunion at the cultural center downtown, but this year my grandma Gretchen thought it was a good idea for the entire family to meet up at the Smith's family farm" Nya said. "How many people are going to be there, because if my family ever did a reunion, we wouldn't be able to, considering we have a lot of people in our family, and they also live around the world" Harumi said. "Uhm, well my 2 sets of grandparents are going to be there my 10 uncles and aunts will be there, and all the cousins, besides it isn't the amount I'm worried about, it's the chaos" Nya said. "Okay, and you need Kai, because…" Harumi questioned, "Look Rumi, me and Kai love are family and all, but they're too chaotic, so we agreed to meet up everyday to do yoga to calm ourselves and, Kai was supposed to meet me at our spot, but he didn't show up" Nya said, "By the way where is he".
"I'm right here, little sis" Kai said, "Sorry, but you know how we splitted up as you left earlier, well Chad swung by our house, and asked to go with him I guess" Kai said. "Since when was Chad more important to you then me your sister" Nya exclaimed angrily. "It's not like that sis, I just got sidetracked, Uhm" Kai mumbled, "You were out targeting other students on their way to school weren't you" Nya exclaimed, "Chill it wasn't any student that goes here, besides chill about the reunion already it's in 3 days" Kai stated. Nya was appalled at her brother, not only did he miss their morning yoga, but also went with Chad and terrorized other students "Chad's a bad influence on you, Kai" Nya said as she and her friends walked off to their first classes leaving Kai by his locker.
As Jay arrived in the halls he saw Chad with his other friends, who he believed names are Alexander, Freddy, Dom, and Javier Green who looked like a retro dumpster kid. "That new kid is freaky, he shoved me into a wooden trough, but he didn't shove me, shove me, it seems that he has powers" Chad said pointing at Jay. Alexander, Freddy, and Dom just give mad glares at Jay while Javier walks down the hall. Jay thinks of following Javier, but before he knows it, he's cornered by Alexander, Freddy, Dom and Chad "Give him a lesson, boys" Chad says as Freddy and Alexander pick Jay up off the ground, and Dom is ready to haul a few punches and kicks at Jay.
But before Dom can lay a hand on Jay, Dom gets flung in the opposite direction and a minute later Alex and Fred get lifted into the air, "What's going on, Put them down you freak" Chad exclaimed. 'Not again' Jay thought, "Your really going to get it this time freak" Chad said, as he said that Alex and Fred drop down on the ground and Dom gets flown onto them, "Stop it freak" Chad screamed as he soon also got flung onto his friends knocking him out unconscious. Jay is still unfazed of what happened as it was just like what happened earlier, could it be Cole again, or is it another person, whatever they're unconscious, I should just make a run for it, Jay thought.
Jay ran into the closest room he could find knowing that once Chad and his friends regained conscious they would find him, and whoever saved him wouldn't be there, if they even cared like Cole didn't. "You're hiding from them aren't you, smart, I wish I thought of that the first couple of days" a voice said it sounded mid-deep, but young and scared at the same time. Jay turned around and saw Javier Green standing there. "What are you doing here, and why would you hide from your friends" Jay asked, "Most people think that I'm friends with Chad, but they're mistaken, he's nothing but a bully to me, ever since day one, he's not the only one, everyone popular bullied me, called me 'dumpster kid' behind my back" Javier said.
"The thing is that they're right, I am a dumpster kid, sometimes I wonder why I exist, no one's out there for me, no one's ever going to be there for me" Javier said with a tear trickling down his face. "Sorry, I must sound pathetic, I mean why would I think that you would be any different" Javier said calmed down. "No, I get it, because I think that too every day, every day ever since I left my home, every day since my dad
…" Jay said, "Well, the Bell's about to ring and I don't want to be late for Science, and I don't want to make my teacher mad, nice talking to you Jay" Javier said walking out of the room turning left, "The Room's on your right" Jay yelled, "Thanks" Javier called back.
The Day went on as normal for the first two classes in History his group got together and everyone contributed in gathering information for their presentation, Cecil was still glaring at Jay and Nya throughout the entire class, and as for Math nothing really happened in that class he spent almost the entire time not interacting with anyone well until this kid who looked to be a year older then everyone else in the class named Kouki, who was wearing mostly golden yellow clothes like a hoodie and black track pants, golden blonde hair approached him mid class because he felt sorry for him and kept trying to make conversation with Jay, but Kouki gave up after a few minutes.
When it was time for lunch, Jay took his stuff and went to the science room as he wanted to research more about the history academic award that not only was made out of Umbrasite, but apparently disappeared within a day after he found it, not only did he go to the science room he also went to the school's library to check every Shadowbane history book he could find which was only 3 books. Shadowbane Withered History Volume I, Volume II, and Withered Artifacts.
Jay figured that it must of been an artifact so he studied Withered artifacts "There must be something in here about this award" Jay muttered while flipping through the pages, when he flipped through the entire book he couldn't find anything that looked like the plaque Jay saw on the first day, he then flipped through both Volumes of Withered History, but he couldn't find anything about the award. "Ugh, I spent an entire half hour looking through these books and I couldn't find anything" Jay mumbled aggressively emitting a magical burst throwing the 3 books on the floor, which caused Volume II to open up to a Page that Jay had practically missed.
Jay looked over and telekinetically picked it up, and exclaimed at what he saw, big letters reading out 'The Withered War' and a section reading out 'The Golden Paraphernelia'. Jay has heard stories about the Golden Paraphernelia, the stories say that 10 Shadowbane Nobles that looked over the 10 Shadowbane Clans, created gems of great power called the Paraphernelia Stones and there power combined created the Golden Paraphernelia… Jay didn't know much about the rest of the story, but most shadowbane's today treat this is a myth, but Jay believes it to be true considering what his dad gave him the night before the incident, Jay looked down at his hand holding his sapphire pendant. Jay always wondered about why his father gave him this pendant, but he never got the chance to ask, and his mom wasn't going to be giving him answers anytime soon, she clearly knew more then she was letting on.
As Jay finished up in the Science room as lunch finished, Javier ran right into him. "Oh, I'm so sorry, I can be such a Klutz sometimes" Javier said nervously picking up his papers, as Javier got up he noticed that he ran into the person he met earlier. "Oh, I'm so sorry, Jay was it, yeah I was just in a rush" Javier rushed. "It's alright, things like that happen to me all the time, especially back at my old school" Jay said comfortably. "Yeah, well, see ya" Javier said running into the room, noticing Jay had dropped one of his books he was carrying, "Hey, you forgot something–" Javier said before looking at the title "Shadowbane Withered History, hmm, is it possible that he's like me" Javier said before setting his stuff down and opening the book to the page Jay was on "Huh" Javier said as he looked through the book.
As Jay was walking the hallway, he couldn't help but think about his mother and what she kept from him, what she knew about there culture. As he was walking he heard a noise coming down the hall, Jay couldn't help but investigate. As he turned the corner he saw Chad, Nya, Harumi, Pixel, Cole, Kai, and Chad's three goons who are holding both Harumi and Pixal into the air, Kai and Cole are standing with Chad who's arguing with Nya. "Chad, leave my friends alone, what do you want anyways" Nya exclaimed, "Oh, that's easy, I want revenge on that new freak you hang out with" Chad replied. "Well, then why are you attacking us if he's the one your after" Nya remarked, "You see, the freak never shows up unless his friends are in danger, plus I had him in two positions of humiliation, but somehow he got saved from them, and like they say third times the charm" Chad said. As Jay was standing there behind the corner, Freddy one of Chad's goons came out of nowhere and shoved him in front of Chad.
"Oh, look what the cat dragged in" Chad said, "What do you even want from me" Jay said, "Oh, nothing, except for the fact that your a freak, you have this strange ability and use them on me" Chad said. Jay could feel anger that he never thought he'd feel again, started boiling within him. "The point is there's a social ladder here, and I'm at the very top of that ladder, if people start realizing what you've been doing to students, then who knows what will happen, the point is you don't belong here" Chad said. Jay didn't know why, but this guy is so good at making people angry, but Jay knew that if he gave in too his anger then Chad would know what he is.
As Jay looked up at Chad he saw a sly smile spread across Chad's face, "Chad, this is a bit far, don't you think" Cole said, "Again, you'd rather side with the freak, then me your friend" Chad said with anger. "I'm not siding with him, Chad, I just think that you're getting carried away with this, who would care, if you beat him up, no one will" Cole remarked. That's it, Jay thought, That broke the Camel's back, as Jay opened his eyes they flared bright blue, he lifted Chad, and his goons into the air, Alex and Dom who were holding Harumi and Pixal dropped down on the floor, Nya went over to check on them, Kai and Cole were unaffected by Jay's magic and were just there, not really doing anything. "What, I knew it, I knew you were a freak" Chad exclaimed as Jay lifted him into the air too.
"Jay, stop" Someone yelled, but it seemed to have come from his mind, "Who are you-" Jay didn't have to finish, he knew exactly who that voice was. "Nya" Jay muttered, "Yes, Jay, But this is only for you and me to know, I know Chad's a jerk, but that's all he is, the reason he's attacking you is because he thinks your a freak, don't show him that you are" Nya told Jay. "You think, I'm a freak too, don't you" Jay said, "No, Jay I don't, unlike him, I know that your like me, but do you know the kind of damage people will do to you, if he tells anyone, do the right thing". Jay listened and let down Chad and his buds, after both Nya and Jay used there memory manipulation to wipe there memories to be safe.
Nya still is shaken up as she has yet to tell Jay about the vision, as she had the same vision last night, but it was more descriptive, the vision she had it was a dark night, she found herself in the woods, woods she was unfamiliar with, beside her she saw Jay, and lot's of others, then she saw a cottage in the woods and the door opened up, she saw a human sixed crystal and it opened up, then she saw 10 gemstones glow and shoot a magical beam at a golden orb, and then saw golden smoke immerse from the ground, and Jay's pendant glow. Nya couldn't figure out what her vision meant, the last time she had the vision it only showed the woods and the cottage, everything else is knew, and whatever it is, Jay's connected to it somehow. As they finished up, Chad and all the others woke up from this, "What happened, Freak" Chad said glaring at Jay, "Uhm, nothing" Jay said. "Ugh, whatever, guys come on we have class to get to" Chad said walking off to class. Kai and Cole reluctantly went off with the group, leaving Jay, Nya and her friends.
In the Nurse's office, Pixel and Harumi must've hit the ground hard since they did fall from a tall height. "Like we said Nurse. Wang, No me and Pix don't remember what happened, we just woke up on the floor, with the bruises, nothing more" Harumi said. As Harumi and Pixal were still in the room, Jay and Nya waited outside in the waiting room, "I feel terrible about what happened to Harumi and Pixal" Jay grumbled. Nya wanted to console him, but he was right, after all he did almost reveal that he's Shadowbane to the most blabbermouthed student in the entire school. "Look I know, I messed up Nya, But it's very hard, to keep this anger within me under control" Jay explained. "What do you mean by anger" Nya asked, "I have this small feeling within me, that acts out at times, that's why I keep it deep within me" Jay said.
This is it, this is the only time Nya can tell Jay about the vision, "Jay, I need to tell you something" Nya said, "Uhm, sure" Jay said. "Uhm, okay, well last night I had a…" Nya said cut off by Harumi and Pixal coming out the door, with ice packs wrapped around there ankles, with Harumi holding one to her forehead. "I just don't understand, I mean one minute we're being held into the air, then wake up on the floor with bruises" Pixel questioned, "We probably just experienced unconscious amnesia, Pix" Harumi reassured. "Maybe, but how would we have gotten those bruises from only four feet" Pixel questioned. "Your guess is as good as mine, anyways I'm glad to see you both made a good recovery, Jay and I will be off now, won't we Jay" Nya said awkwardly. "Uhm, sure I guess, we do have only five minutes, until class starts though" Jay said as he walked out of the nurses offic, with Nya soon following. "That was weird, don't you think Pix" Harumi said, "Yeah" Pixel said.
On the highway of ninjago city, in a blue BMW, Lisbeth is driving in the front seat with the bracelet that she showed Jay that morning, where she was headed, well, the only place that could give her answers. As she got to the gate to the forest, she drove straight toward the rock wall, as she got closer she activated her car's phase mode, as the car was made by a Shadowbane engineer, and as she got closer she went through the rock wall, luckily there weren't many cars driving at that time. As she entered in the rock, she drove too the toll booth, "Welcome madame, are you here to see the shrine" the guy in the booth said. "Yes, actually, can you read minds Sir…Thomas Jian" Lisbeth asked.
"No, no nothing of the sorts" Thomas Jian remarked, "But, if you ever want to talk more about this over some coffee later" Thomas Jian said. "Sure, would Sunday work for you" Lisbeth said, "That'd work great, can you read minds" Thomas said. "Yes, but I don't do it, to fine gentlemen" Lisbeth remarked. "Cool, uhm, so do you know where your going, to the shrine" Thomas asked, "Yes, Sir" Lisbeth replied, "Huh, been here before have you, you can call me Tom by the way, miss.." Thomas asked. "Lisbeth, but you could call me Lizz" Lisbeth replied, "Ok, well see you later" Thomas said. As Lisbeth drove to the closest parking lot she could find she looked at the picture of her family "Don't worry, Jay" Lisbeth said. As she got out of the car, she pulled out a map to the shrine, "Okay, Taimu's show me what you got" Lisbeth said as she walked towards the shrine.
As Jay and Nya were walking to there classrooms, Nya was thinking about when would be the time to tell Jay about her vision, but that was when it didn't show Jay, letting Jay know about the entire vision would be disastrous, so she ended up deciding to not say a word. "Your still mad about me almost revealing to Chad that I'm Shadowbane, aren't you" Jay said startling Nya, "I'm not angry that you almost revealed to Chad of who you are, he's already expecting it, I'm mad that you almost revealed it to the entire school, you may not know this yet, but whenever Chad finds out something either humiliating or life-ruining he's like a chatterbox, he would've told everyone about who you are" Nya explains.
"But, Chad's a jerk there's no way people would believe him" Jay said, "Maybe, but if Chad ever want's something he'll find a way to expose you, either through video or you reveal it yourself" Nya said. "But, I would never do that, besides what does Chad have against me anyways, I didn't do anything to him" Jay said, "Well, it's not what you do to him, it's what he thinks you did to him" Nya explained. Jay took this all in "He think I'm a monster, because he thinks I'm the reason why he gets thrown into a bin or against the lockers, Right" Jay said. "And your not" Nya asked, "No, another shadowbane does it instead, but Chad thinks it's me, for some reason" Jay explained, as they were walking Nya made it to her classroom, "Well, see ya later, I guess" Nya said as she entered her classroom.
As Jay was walking to his classroom, he began to notice his backpack was incredibly lighter, which he thought was strange considering he didn't notice it before, he took his backpack off and opened it to where he placed the three books, or more precisely two books, just . Jay started panicking about where the second volume could've went, then realized he probably dropped when he bumped into Javier in the hallway, "Well, looks like there's not a chance of getting that back" Jay muttered, as he came to the conclusion that Javier picked it up and either put in the lost in found or still had it, bu Jay couldn't think of that right now, right now he had to go to science in like 2 minutes.
As Jay got to his class, Mr. Brun just finished the attendence, " Mr. Walker, please remember to be on time for class, you should be lucky I didn't send the attendence yet" Mr. Brun said. "Sorry, teach, I'll be mor time managing from now on" Jay said as he got to his table. "Okay class, today we're going to talk about the cell, what inhabits it and how they work together…" Mr. Brun started, but then the intercom turned on "Can Jay Walker please come down to the principal's office" a voice said over the intercom. Jay just got up and didn't say anything and went on his way to the principal's office, on the way there, Jay couldn't think of what it could've been, but when he got there, he saw a girl with black hair in a ponytail and a guy with brown hair and a blue sports jacket, and he immediately knew what happened. "Jay could you please join us in here" Mrs. Martins said, As Jay entered he sat in the empty chair which was next to Chad of all people.
"Jay, the reason I called you and Ms. Smith down here for the second time is because, Chad here told me that you fought him and his friends, is that true" Mrs. Martins asked. Now Jay understood what happened, they might've been able to manipulate Chad's memories, but he still thinks that Jay fought him in school, which is messed up since he was the one that fought Jay. "Mrs, I'm going to be honest with you, I did do" Jay said, shocking Nya and even shocked Chad, "So, then you did fight Chad here" Mrs. Martins asked confused. "Yes, well in a way, it's hard to explain" Jay said still with a shocked Nya glaring at Jay.
"Ah, I see well, all three of you are going to have detention this Saturday" Mrs. Martins said. "What' said a shocked Nya and Chad, "But Mrs, I didn't do anything" Chad replied, "Sure" Nya said stern, "It's fair" Jay decided, "What you can't be serious" Nya said. "Mrs. I didn't do anything, they attacked me with their mind powers or something, I don't remember" Chad said. '"Silence, I've had enough of a headache because of you three, Nya we'll discuss this later, now get to class, you too Chad, Jay I want to speak too you, about something important" Mrs. Martins said, as the two left, it was just Jay and Mrs. Martins alone.
As Lisbeth was walking through the forest she stumbled upon these totems, of the ten nobles, which Cliff was one of them, she could never bring herself to tell Jay this, the nobles were the strongest shadowbane in the world. She came across the statue of Cliff, or Clifstynx, the legends say that they created these powerful gemstones called paraphernalia, which the power of these gems created the golden paraphernalia , which was so powerful that the nobles destroyed it after the first Withering War.
After that the nobles went there different ways forming the ten tribes of Shadowbane's, even though Cliff was a member of the Numash tribe, she was part of the Burrish tribe, and also a bit of the Areruzu tribe. The golden paraphernalia was never heard of or brought up since and to this day it and the 10 paraphernalia's were treated as myth, even to Shadowbane, well until Jay told her about this award at his school that has magical properties. As she continued walking down the path seeing the different nobles, Lisbeth couldn't stop thinking that, what if what happened to Cliff happened to other Nobles, which Lisbeth found it to be no coincidence if Cliff died and his tribe was scattered, then neither would the other Lisbeth made it to the last statue, Areruzu's noble Byrdetn, she muttered something and the statue glowed purple and Lisbeth took out a similar looking bracelet then the one she showed Jay, but purple instead of teal, as she raises the bracelet up and the statue blasted at the bracelet, and some runes appeared on the bracelet.
Lisbeth put the bracelet away as she made it to the shrine she placed the bracelet on the center pedestal and it released a purplish smoke that engulfed the entire shrine, as the smoke clears, 3 blue misty figures came out of the smoke, all with crowns that sparkled in the mist, light blue dresses, and misty faces, they also looked to be different ages the one on the left looked the oldest, the one on the right looked like a young girl, and the one in the middle looked like an averagely and young lady, in her late 30's. "Hello, mortal, why have you summoned us" the one on the left said, "Good evening Taimu's, I just need help with something" Lisbeth asked, "Ugh, just another one of these, for the last time, we're not telling you about future events" the one on the right said. "Kako, Mirai, let's let her speak" the one in the middle said as she gestured for Lisbeth to start talking.
"Well, Taimu's, it's not about time at all" Lisbeth started, "Then why have you summoned us, girl, I was in the middle of my soap opera" the one who was supposedly named Kako". "As if those are anything interesting, sister, you should really get into something that's more modern" the one on the right who's name's Mirai, "Ah, soap opera's are just splendid, kids really need to get into the spirit of the old days, don't you agree, hun" Kako muttered. "Well, uhm like I said, I'm not here for that stuff, I just need help with preparing something, and next to the nobles, you are the most powerful beings in the universe" Lisbeth said as she was taking something out of her bag. "Ugh, I beg your pardon, we are more powerful then the nobles, so sad 10 souls lost in the mists of the departed" Kako said almost gleefully. "Sister, it's true we are more powerful then the nobles, but like I've said they're all gone" the one in the middle said, "Oh, sorry, we haven't properly introduced ourselves, I'm Kenzai the spirit of everything that is now, present, and in moment" Genzai said, "I'm Kako the spirit of everything that was, past, and memories" Kako said with that grouchy tone of hers, "And I'm Mirai, the spirit of everything that will be, future, or could be" Mirai said cheerfully.
"And we are the Taimu's" they all said in unison, "Yeah, I'm familiar with the Taimu's, now could you please help me with this, please" Lisbeth said as she handed out a lantern. "That old thing, isn't worth our time" Kako said, "Now, sister we all know, that this lantern is important" Genzai reassured, "It isn't all that interesting, after all Kako is right it's old" Mirai said. "Please, it might be the only thing that could help my son" Lisbeth said, the three Taimu's gave a silent agreement as they nodded, "Fine" Kako and Mirai grumbled, "It's settled then, Lisbeth if you could hand us the Lantern" Kenzai said, Lisbeth gave her the lantern, and Kenzai placed it on the pedestal, and took out a staff, as did the two others, and started chanting a spell.
As Lisbeth stood there she pulled out a black leather notebook, and opened it up to a page that had notes about the lantern, it was called the Lantern of Prosperity, which is an artifact that could grant people anything they wanted, and it could even be world bending. As she was going through her notes about the lantern, the Taimu's were still chanting and when they finished the lantern looked the same, which definitely confused Kako. "How is that possible, is it possible that after all these years we have lost our touch" Kako said, "Well, of course, the lantern was never broken to begin with" Mirai said glaring at Lisbeth. "What, no that can't be right, after that whole incident the lantern broke" Lisbeth said, but as she looked closely she noticed a price sticker "It's fake" Lisbeth said as she dropped it.
After Mrs. Martins and Jay were talking, Nya was waiting outside listening to some music on her phone, as Jay finished up he came outside, and he looked rather upset. "So how was it" Nya said sounding a tad bit angry, "It doesn't matter" Jay said defeated, "Hey, if you think i'm mad at you, I'm not, well a little, but that's not the point, Jay it's okay to stand up to yourself, but you have to think before you donig anything rash, alright" Nya said glaring at Jay. "Yeah, I got that" Jay said while walking away "See you tomorrow, Nya", leaving Nya behind at the door, before she too left the hallway to her next class, and Jay soon went his way to his next class. As Jay walked down the hallway chocked full of students bustling around to get to their final class of the day, Jay was holding his head down, hoping to not be noticed, luckily thanks to Jay and Nya's memory wash, no one remembered besides them. Jay was hurrying so fast to his class, that he ran into Javier Green, who was unfazed at all as if the collison between them had no effect on him.
"Oh sorry, Javier, I wasn't looking where I was going" Jay said trying to keep up an awkward smile, "No worries, happens all the time, I'm practically used to people bumping into me, don't worry no harm done, uhm you dropped this earlier today" Javier said handing him a book, not just any book the Shadowbane Withered History Volume I, "Thanks" Jay said taking the book with precaution. "No problem, sorry, I couldn't help myself, I have to say, your clearly interested in this entire Shadowbane mess, aren't you" Javier said. "No, that would be stretching it a bit far, don't you think, I just find it interesting" Jay said hoping his lie would convince Javier. "Cool, I guess, well see ya around" Javier said walking off, Jay shrugged off the weird conversation and walked to his last class.
Some time later, Lisbeth was driving back home, devastated by what she had discovered, how could the lamp had been fake, she had it ever since there village was overrun, so how could it have been fake. As she was driving down the road, the lights kept flickering which Lisbeth found unusual, regardless she just kept driving. She needed to find the truth, but that needed to wait, it was 7:30 she needed to hurry home, hopefully Jay and Meryl made their way safely home, it was dangerous for Shadowbane's now, since there was people who hunted them down.
She called Jay to see if he and Meryl were okay, luckily one of her abilities is Phantom Limb, which can allow her to generate a phantom arm which she can use to do something like calling her son while driving. She called Jay and waited for him to call, but he didn't call, Lisbeth was worried, but he probably had a reason for not calling, he may not have shown it, but ever since they've lost their home, they were never really able to see eye to eye again. She waited a few more minutes, but when he wasn't calling she recorded a message "Jay, hon, I know you're still mad at me, but I just want to know if you and Meryl are okay, please call me the second you get this…" Lisbeth said, hoping her son was okay.
Meanwhile, back at the Gordon's apartment, Meryl was lounging on their sofa, messaging her friends, while Jay was in the kitchen making sandwiches for him and Meryl, since his mom wasn't home yet, so he had to improvise. As he was preparing the sandwiches, he murmured something under his breath, "Where are you, Mom" and just like that, his phone started ringing, he took a second picked up his phone, and before he hit "Accept" he saw it was his mother. "Hey, where's my sandwich" Meryl shouted almost damaging Jay's eardrums, Jay grumbles as he hits "Decline" and walks into the living room with her sandwich and gives it to Meryl, who eats it gracefully, and walks back into the kitchen, checking his phone.
One New Message, 7:32, sent by Mother, he reluctantly clicked the Message. "Jay, hon, I know you're still mad at me, but I just want to know if you and Meryl are okay, please call me the second you get this…." Lisbeth's voice said over the message, Jay almost got off, but the next thing he heard was'nt what he expected, "Hey, what are you doing, Hey, stop…" her screaming growing faintly every second, then "CRASH!". "Mom?" Jay asks concern in his voice, Meryl comes into the kitchen hearing the conversation and pulls Jay into a side-hug.
An hour later, with learning what had just happened, Meryl and Jay were both lying on the couch, concerned for their mother. "Mom's, going to be okay, Jay" Meryl said with comfort, "She has to be". "I know" Jay said with concern, "It's just hard I guess". The next thing he knew the door opened revealing Lisbeth who's clothes had been a bit tattered and rusted, "Jay, Meryl" she asks as she enters, she turns the corner to the Living room, thrilled to see her children, Meryl jumps off of the couch andhugs her, while Jay holds his hand up to his mouth, happy to see his mother.
"Mom, what happened?" Meryl asked, on Jay's behalf, "It's hard to explain, I need a rest, that crash really shook me up" Lisbeth answered as she went to sit down. "Mom, I need to know, what were you doing" Jay asked, "Jay, she was just in a car crash, let her rest" Meryl said appauled. "It's alright, Sweetie" Lisbeth said, turning her attention to Jay, with a hint of sadness in her expression "Hon, I wish I could tell you, both of you, really I do, but I will tell you everything, one day" Lisbeth said as she left for her room, leaving her puzzled twins.
Back in the darkened bunker, the hooded figure and Mrs. Mallard are standing with the former reading his grimoir. "So, I heard that you tried to kill a woman" Phyllis questioned with a stern look, "That woman was a Shadowbane, Phyllis" the figure said cold. "Yes, but, we're supposed to be finding the artifacts" Phyllis said a bit shaken up. "True, but we're also supposed to keep an eye on the Gordons, patience" the figure said turning around smirking. "Then, if that's the case, why did you attack her" Phyllis asked with a questionable look. "I have my reasons, look, the important part is she found out about the ruse of the lamp, but she won't stop trying" the figure said gleaming, "Or her son" and went back to his grimoir, and Phyllis left the bunker.
