Chapter 2: Tragedy
Team Natsu had just gotten back from a job only to find the guild Hall wrecked with large iron rods sticking out of it.
Natsu was shaking in rage. "Who, who did this to our guild." He nearly growled out. "It was Phantom lord." They turned around to see Mira who had a sad look on his face. "You mean they my did this." Natsu said with a dark look on his face. Mira nodded. "We couldn't do anything to stop them."
(Rest goes to cannon)
Elfman was facing a member of Phantom Lord's Element Four, Mr. Sol of earth, and he was losing.
Elfman was kneeling, holding his right arm in pain while Sol began to taunt him.
"Many years ago, you attempted a full body transformation and failed, no. You, went berserk?" Sol asked making Elfman angrier. "Just shut up." Elfman shouted, he jumped up and was about to hit him with his magic beast arm, but Sol made a statue of Elfman's dead little sister. Making him freeze. "L… L-Lisanna." Elfman mumbled.
"I must apologize, but when you rudely stepped on me earlier I took the liberty of scanning your memories." Elfman just stood there stunned. "How could you do something so cruel to someone who loved you so much."
Sol said, still taunting Elfman. "Not only her, but you also did the same to the one that was loved by your older sister, am I correct." Elfman turned around and saw a statue of Jasper. Elfman cancelled his spell as more statues surrounded him.
His rage at Sol's heartlessness was made his magic surge. He was now trying to use a full body takeover.
Sol continued to mess with Elfman by making the statues of Lisanna and Jasper say his name and ask him why he did it, over and over again. Elfman was screaming, still trying to activate the takeover spell, but the statues words finally got to him and he fell to a knee, his magic dissipating.
"You really shouldn't attempt to do something you incapable of, all you've done is waste your magic energy."
"Your nothing but a coward, a real man would fight me instead of messing with my head." Elfman said, still not ready to give up.
"Are you insinuating that I'm not a real man, no no no, how dare you insult me like that. You're not a real man you're just a monster that killed his little sister, along with your older sister's lover" Sol said with a glare.
Sol then launched several blocks of stone at Elfman that nearly knocked him out of the fortress. Once outside Elfman noticed that Mira was slowly being crushed by the fingers of the fortress mech. Sol continued to taunt Elfman as Mira was begging for Sol to spare her little brother.
"You killed Lisanna, and now Mirajane will die before you very eyes. A Real man would never let all that happen, this facade is just to hide how weak you really are. And for that you shall relive your past forever as you become one with the earth."
Sol made a magic circle and began to force Elfman to relive his memories.
Elfman was Suddenly in the park by the guild Hall. He saw himself, Mira, and Lisanna who was talking to Natsu and happy.
"This is the day that-" Current Elfman said remembering this day vividly.
"Come on Lisanna let's go, we've got to get to work." Past Elfman said. "What, we just finished a job can't we take a little break?" Lisanna asked, pouting. "Yeah but it's an S-class quest, Mira said we could tag along."
"No way, totally unfair." Natsu shouted. "What kind of job is it." Happy asked, floating next to Lisanna. "This town wants us to kill this monster called the Beast. Hey, you wanna come with us Natsu, you might learn a thing or two." Mira said with a smug grin. "Yeah, why don't you come with us Natsu?" Lisanna asked innocently.
"Huh, no. I don't want him tagging along I'm the man in this family, I can protect you both on my own." Past Elfman shouted. "Well, that might not be true for long, right Mira?" Lisanna teased, making Mira blush knowing what her sister was implying. "S-shut up." Mira stuttered, avoiding eye contact. "Please listen to her, I'm trying to take a nap here." Jasper groaned from the tree.
He was wearing a blue sleeveless shirt, black baggy pants, and black martial arts shoes. His hair was braided in cornrows that ended in a ponytail.
"Bro?" Natsu asked. "How long have you been there?" Lisanna asked. "Just a few hours." Jasper answered with a yawn.
"Get down here." Mira said, kicking the tree as hard as she could, making Jasper fall, landing on his back with a small groan of pain. "Alright, I'm up, jeez." He said as he got up.
"Wait, your taking bro but not me, why you gotta hog all the fun." Natsu wined.
He then got in Jasper's face, hands clasped together. "Come on big bro, take me with you please." Natsu begged. Jasper put his hand on Natsu's head and ruffled his hair making him grumble.
"Calm down. I'm not going with them, I've got my own quest." Jasper then bent down to get eye level with Natsu. "Hey, tell you what, as soon as I get back I'll take you in an S-class quest, just you and me, alright." Jasper said with a smile.
"You mean it?!" Natsu said with stars in his eyes. "Of course, promise of a lifetime." Jasper said with a grin. "What about me?" Happy asked landing on Jasper's head. "You too Happy. You and Natsu go hand and hand, if I say I'm bringing one of you then I bringing both of you." Jasper said with a chuckle.
"Alright, enough chit chat, let get going." Past Elfman said as he and the others walked off. "Right, see you guys." Jasper said, walking in the other direction.
"No, you can't go, you're not ready yet, you have to take Natsu with you!" Current Elfman shouted as he tried to run to them, but no matter how fast he went, they just kept getting further away.
Suddenly, the memory started to fade and another took it's place.
Elfman looked out into the distance and saw a burning town. He heard a rumble in the distance, he turned and saw the Beast slowly walking towards an injured Mira.
"Mira!" Lisanna, in a bird takeover form, shouted as she flew down to Mira.
"Lisanna, what about the people in the town?" Mira asked with a wince.
"Don't worry, I took care of it. Everyone in the town's been evacuated." Jasper said as he ran up to the two sisters. His clothes were torn and he had burns all over his arms.
"Jasper?! When did you get here?!" Mira asked. "I finished my job early and was on my way home, you guys were nearby so I decided to help."
"RAAAAA!" The Beast's roar echoed through the area as it got closer to the three.
"Wait." Lisanna said, looking around. "Where's Elf?" She asked worried. Mira Grit her teeth.
"The beast is Elfman." Jasper and Lisanna looked between Mira and the Beast in shock. "I got hurt so he tried to take over the beast, but it was to strong and now he's out of control." Mira explained.
The Beast continued to get close, but stopped when Jasper jumped at it. He threw a barrage of punches into the Beast's face, but it barely bruised it. The Beast swung it's head, hitting Jasper with his horn, sending him crashing into the ground next to Mira.
"Jasper!" both Lisanna and Mira shouted in fear, Jasper groaned in pain as his struggled to sit up.
The Beast growled, looking down at them. Lisanna stepped forward, hands behind her back and a gental smile on her face.
"Lisanna, run, get out of here!" Mira begged, here injuries making it to hard to move.
"Lis, listen to Mira, go." Jasper added, still trying to get up.
Lisanna ignored both of them and just stared at the Beast.
Elfman dropped to his knees and held his head in pain, wanting nothing more then for this to end.
"Big brother Elf? It's Lisanna, your little sister. You fellin' okay. Big sis Mira and Jasper are here too."
The Beast tilted it's head.
"Today was pretty crazy wasn't it, how about we go home and talk about it?"
The Beast narrowed it's eyes.
"it won't work, please… JUST RUN!" Elfman scream as the Beast roared and raised it's arm. Lisanna stood there, arms stretched out, smile still bright.
"Don't worry big brother, no matter what… we still love you." Her last sentence echoed out in Elfman's ears.
The world lost all sound, Jasper ran and grabbed Lisanna in a hug as the Beast swung down at the two. Mira screamed with tears in her eyes as she watched them go flying over the forest. She also saw Jasper drop Lisanna at the foot of a nearby mountain as he continued flying off into the distance.
Elfman punched the ground, his tears forming a small puddle next to his fist.
In the real world, Elfman was almost completely covered in stone, all except for his left eye.
"Elfman!" he woke up when he heard Mira calling to him. "Please… I can't lose you too." She said, reaching out to him, crying.
"And now, it's time for the coup de grace." Sol said, his back turned to the stone them at was holding Elfman.
"She's crying." Elfman mumbled, drawing Sol's attention. "Ugh what now?" "Why… WHY ARE YOU CRYING!" Elfman shouted as his body started to glow, his magic consuming him.
"No Elfman, don't do it!" Mira begged in vain as Elfman began to transform.
"Fool, you are to weak to perform a full-body takeover." Sol said, but was pushed back when a bright light came from Elfman.
The light died down and Elfman was now in his full-body takeover; Beast soul.
(I will refer to Elfman in this form as Beast-Elf)
Sol was sweating in fear as the Beast-Elf stared down at him.
Sol coughed into his fist to clear his throat.
"Um, well I should be going now, tout a lout." Sol said as he tried to get away, but Beast-Elf knocked him into the ceiling with an underhand punch.
Sol got up and launched an attack at Beast-Elf, but it did nothing. Beast-Elf then punched him, over and over again into the ground. His soul even left his body, but Beast-Elf grabbed it and shoved it back into his body.
Beast-Elf only stopped when he heard Mira's screaming in his name.
Beast-Elf jumped out of the fortress and ran up to where Mira was being held. She looked frightened but still tried to reason with her younger brother.
She was shocked when Beast-Elf grabbed her and pulled the fingers that were holding her apart.
"I'm sorry Mira." Beast-Elf said making Mira's eyes widen. After what happened, I promised that I wouldn't do a full-body takeover again after what happened to Lisanna and Jasper. I just didn't have a choice, this was the only way I could protect you and the rest of Fairy Tail."
Elfman went out of his Beast soul and started to cry. Mira hugged him remembering better times when her, Elfman, Lisanna, and Jasper spent time together.
