Chapter 29

Moroha comes into the house. "I'm home." She said in an exhausted manner. Kagome comes to her from the kitchen. "Moroha. Are you alright?" Kagome asks her daughter as she presses Moroha's forehead. "Good thing you don't have a fever." She helps her out of her jacket and shoes.

"Then why am I so tired? I was so energetic this morning?" Moroha moans as Kagome helps her into her bedroom. Kagome doesn't really know. She looks at her smartwatch to see that it's past the time school ended. "Maybe you overused your powers and that's why you feel so drained." She said softly.

Moroha nods, "I would remember what I did today, but somehow I can't. I just want to sleep." She is wobbling a little. Kagome takes hold of her daughter's shoulder. "Then sleep, that way you can get better for dinner."

Moroha was able to change into her red short sleeved t shirt and green flannel pants. She crawls into her comforter. Before she falls asleep, she unties the ribbon and let it slowly fall to the floor by the bed. Kagome silently giggles and is about to up the ribbon up. But before she is about to touch it, she senses something coming from it.

She closes her eyes and creates a small barrier to keep the ribbon inside. 'This is troubling.' Focusing on her spiritual powers, she is able to telekinetically move the barrier and take it down to the basement where she keeps other unusual items that might harm the family.

Inuyasha comes home and can smell something. "Something's foul." He simply said to himself as he comes inside to see Kagome coming from the basement. "Oh it's you. Listen, there's something wrong with Moroha." Kagome pants after using her powers for a certain amount of time.

"Why? What's wrong with her?" Inuyasha asks as he follows his wife to their daughter's bedroom. "Remember when she so energetic this morning. She was somehow complete worn out from something. I know for sure she didn't have gym class. Besides she hardly breaks a sweat during that period." Kagome gives her answer. Inuyasha silently enters Moroha's room, sniffing the air. "She seems fine to me. Were you about to find anything corrupting her spiritual powers?" He turns to her. Kagome narrows her eyes. "I have one. The moment she untied her ribbon, it looked normal but when I was about to picked it up, I sensed something unsettling." She explains to him.

"Where's the ribbon?" Inuyasha asks her as he closes their daughter's bedroom door. "It's in the basement, maybe you can sniff something from it." Kagome answers as they head downstairs to the basement to a lab room with various scientific equipment for them to find something. She gives the ribbon to Inuyasha. He takes a good sniff. His sense seems to more effective than Moroha's since he's a half dog demon and Moroha's a quarter demon.

"Something not right with this ribbon. It don't have Moroha's scent on it either." He gives it back to Kagome. That just gives the mother an idea.

Kagome places the ribbon into a capsule and lets a machine connect to it do its job. "Did you get this from somewhere?" Inuyasha asks as he observes the machine.

Kagome turns on the computer to get the full data on the ribbon. "One of my colleagues thought it'd be useful to help with DNA." She answers without losing focus on the computer's monitor.

"As in you want to know about our ancestors?" Inuyasha in confusion, not really sure about the issue. Kagome shakes her head. "No. You should know about fingerprints and how they can leave a sign about who it was that touched it. In this case, Moroha's DNA isn't anywhere on the ribbon at all. What the device is collecting is the owner who must've swapped Moroha's ribbon with this duplicate." Kagome narrows her eyes.

It makes sense for Inuyasha to understand the ribbon's purpose. "From what I can tell is that the ribbon had a spore substance soaked it. It might explain when Moroha but that ribbon on instead of hers, she was beginning to feel drowsy as the day went by." Inuyasha said confidently.

"Which when you sniffed it, you felt it immediately due to your higher keen sense of smell, while it took the ribbon a bit longer to felt the effect." Kagome agrees to his theory.

The machine dings to inform the parents that the process is finished. "The ribbon has the DNA of a student from the school." The voice of the machine tells them so far. "This student is an associate to a bigger threat than once thought."

"Just tell us who it is." Inuyasha said impatiently without destroying the machine. "There are two different sets of DNA. The fresh one is Meiko Hitomi. The second is Misako." The last name shocks the two.

"You don't think…" Kagome couldn't finish her sentence.

"There's a good change that Misako escaped prison and is after Moroha but doesn't want to be noticed. We can't let Moroha go there. There's no telling what could happen." Inuyasha confirms it. Kagome holds herself with her arms around. "Oh, Inuyasha what have we done." She lands onto her knees she whimpers.

Inuyasha embraces her. "I'm not letting that fugitive have our daughter. We need to have someone else to take over the mission because it has become too dangerous beyond our expectations." As such they've decide to keep this from Moroha until it's necessary. "I'll go to the prison where Misako fled from. And you could get information on Meiko at the school." Inuyasha said to her.

Kagome shakes her head. "No. I can't leave Moroha here. She's too vulnerable after what happened. And like what you said, this mission is too dangerous. We can't have the twins take over either. Sesshomaru has to know about this as well." She refuses.

Soon enough Kagome's phone goes off with Rin on the screen. "Hello?" Kagome pressed answer.

"Kagome, we have a problem." Rin said to her frantically. Kagome didn't see this coming. "What's going on? Is something wrong?"

"My daughters somehow felt very tired after school. Is Moroha the same?" Rin speaks while Kagome decides to put the call on speaker.

Inuyasha checks his phone to take a look in Moroha's room through the hidden cameras. "She's asleep, Rin. Are Towa and Setsuna the same way as well?" He asks Rin.

"Yeah. They're not usually like this. Something must've happened at that school. Do you have any ideas?" Rin asks them.

"We have one so far that Moroha had on her. Her ribbon was replaced by a duplicate. Do you think that something like this happened to the twins' belongings?" Kagome asks her.

"I don't know for now. I'll let you if I find anything." Rin hangs up. Inuyasha doesn't seem convinced. "There's something going on and I don't like it one bit."

"But would Sesshomaru be able to tell if he were to pick up the scent?" Kagome asks him.

Inuyasha narrows his eyes for a few seconds, "No. For Moroha's case, it was with her ribbon. This one must've had a different approach on the twins. I'm going over there to help them. You stay here and look after Moroha." Inuyasha said seriously as he heads out the basement.
