JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK, PART 3.
When Ranger Holland fell unconscious, he lost his suit, revealing a man quite similar to J'onn in some ways, as he had green skin, but it was lighter in that color than the scientist's, it had more pores or holes in certain parts and was slimier; and his eyes were orange, not red. His uniform was the same as the other Justice League Dark Rangers, only with certain areas colored light green.
"Wow, looks like we're meeting twins on this mission" Barry said. The Justice League Dark and the Zone C Rangers were transported to the medical wing in a moment, where this time, J'onn just watched as Jason and Constantine took care of healing his green Ranger with some tricks they couldn't understand, the same with Jason making vials with healing potions appear out of nowhere. He'd had a few scrapes, and some blood had leaked out, if his blood was the same color as his skin.
"We're not twins, Ranger Allen, but Commander Wayne and Ranger Zatanna are taking care of all the possibilities on this mission. And you should have called them, but this mission has reached a critical point. If Faust already has the souls needed to free Astaroth, the best thing would be to go to Hell, but we can't make any mistakes. If you all go there, you should already know that we would be at a disadvantage against an all-powerful demon if you're not well coordinated."
Diana understood this, but she was also angry that the commander was once again having, for sure, another make-out session with the Silver Ranger. Yes, he always did his duty, but she knew that he would surely take advantage of it from time to time.
"Thanks, Jason and John" Ranger Holland said. "I'm better now" He said as he quickly stood up.
"Quickly, tell us what happened" Constantine ordered.
"As I told you before, I discovered Faust's hiding place in the city cemetery. It was there because the suffering and evil increased greatly, making it easier for him to open the door to hell by himself. I tried to stop him, but I didn't have you guys, and he defeated me, he was about to absorb my soul, but I escaped" Ranger Holland explained.
"So Faust already went to Hell to free Astaroth?" Jason asked, very alarmed.
"No, or he will soon. He was going to absorb my soul so that the twelve would be complete. By escaping I avoided that, but he must have already gotten the last soul" He said, starting to worry.
"Then we have to go to hell to stop him, now" Constantine said.
"Hey, even though I hate to interrupt, I'd like to know your powers, Ranger Holland. I'd like to know why you have those powers and how you found Faust" John said. He was feeling more comfortable with another Green Ranger, and especially with his voice being much deeper than the others.
"I was the victim of a scientific experiment that turned me into a living plant form, residing in the swamps most of the time. I can control all the nature I want, and move through it, or see what the trees see, that's why I was tasked with following Faust. At some point, he was going to appear in front of a tree and that's what he did, there are several in the cemetery" He explained, with a face as serious as Commander Wayne's.
"If you're done getting to know each other, it's time to explain the plan" Commander Wayne said, entering the medical wing with Zatanna at his side.
"So you're going with us?" Constantine asked.
"Yes, I said it before and I say it now, John" Zatanna told him.
John and the other Rangers still hadn't gotten used to this. Constantine was arrogant, but he made everything confusing every time Zatanna called him by the name of the green Ranger from Zone C, he had wanted to interrupt one moment or another because of this system that the silver Ranger had.
"The plan is obvious, all of us will arrive, the eleven Rangers…" The commander said, but was interrupted.
"Stop, Commander. Shouldn't you stay here in case Darkseid returns?" Shayera asked.
"If Astaroth returns to Earth, he would turn it into his personal hell. Darkseid will take a backseat. Ranger Zatanna" The commander replied, giving the signal to the silver ranger.
"This is something we rarely do, but since Faust and Astaroth will be in Hell, we have to give them modifications. We know that J'onnz gave them modifications, but they'll be facing a demon and a sorcerer, so, they'll be in more danger if they go with us…" Zatanna said, but was interrupted.
"They just said we were going with you" Diana said, ready for her anger to surface again.
"Let her finish or we'll lose time" Said the commander. He was getting fed up with her attitude, and he would impose a punishment, but not now.
"Yes, Zatanna, go on. I don't want this marriage to ruin us with another argument" Constantine said.
"What did you say?" The commander and Diana asked at the same time.
"Well, they fight like they're married. Enough already" Constantine said.
"That's not it, and we better get on with this job, Zanna" the commander said, angry at what the gold Ranger was saying. He was never in his dreams married to a female Ranger under his command, much less to the Ranger who always teased him or challenged him when she didn't like something.
Diana was also upset, because she was getting angry because she wanted to help, and she didn't want to feel displaced again by the silver ranger, she wasn't even dreaming of being the commander's wife.
For the other rangers, this was funny. Now that they thought about it, Constantine was right, because they always argued about everything and seemed like a bitter old couple, they were a very dysfunctional couple, and the fact that someone had pointed it out to them without retaliation made it all the more amusing.
"As the commander said, you will go with us, but we will unite our magic so that you can access it. John" Zatanna said, referring to Constantine.
"Let's get to work" Constantine said. With that, the other three members, or well, there were four, but Boston wasn't visible, stood in front of the Rangers.
"May the celestials grant you the power of magic" the five of them said at the same time. Within seconds, five small axes materialized in front of the Rangers of Zone C, each with the color of their respective uniforms.
"Wow, what's this?" Barry asked as he grabbed his yellow axe.
"This is how you will be able to use our magic powers" Zatanna said.
"These axes are made for those who can use magic. They can be turned into any weapon they choose. With magic, there are no limits to the imagination. To activate them, just say: Celestials, grant us the power of magic" Jason explained.
"However, we warn you, do not use them until we face Astaroth. You are not magical beings, magic is unstable with you and if you use it for too long, you could disintegrate" Holland warned.
"And don't forget, they can only be used once, and when you use them, their power will only last for 10 minutes" Constantine warned.
This felt very strange to the Rangers. They could use magic, but for a very short time, which was a bit unfair, but they never thought that magic was something more unstable than they thought, so at least they would be safe.
"Just as you are using your abilities to protect Area C, you have to use this magic power wisely, cadets" The commander said. "Now, since you will need protection in case the magic runs out, you will be in teams of two as follows: Constantine with Cadet El, Zatara with Cadet Prince, Holland with Cadet Stewart, Boston with Cadet Allen, and Blood with Cadet Hol. And don't you dare complain again, because we'll waste time" He warned.
Diana considered speaking again, the last thing she wanted was to have to be protected by the Silver Ranger, a sign that the commander trusted the mage more than her, but he was right about them not wasting any more time.
"Hey, I have a question, Commander" John said.
"Say it quickly" said the commander.
"Why don't you have any powers?" He asked.
"I agree with John, we're going to hell and you don't have anything to combat your magic," Kal said.
"I'll manage, and I'd rather you two protect yourselves from those two dangerous beings than be defeated in a matter of seconds by not having magic" The commander answered.
"There is no time left, we have to go to the cemetery, I feel that Faust is using magic more intensely" Constantine said.
"Understood. Let's go" the commander said. Constantine quickly opened a portal and entered it, followed by the ten remaining Rangers. When they reached the cemetery, Faust was nowhere to be seen, but when they saw him standing in the center, waving his hands and making them shine, the Rangers ran towards him.
"Give up, Faust" Constantine said.
"I was going to say that" Kal said in an amused tone.
"I assumed you would be back when the Slime Ranger disappeared, so let's see how they fare against the spirit army" Faust said before raising his hands, in the end, this warlock was proving to be harder to stop than they initially thought.
At that moment, the tombstones in the cemetery gathered together in small piles each and formed stone monsters that began to surround all the Rangers, even the commander, since they were not transformed yet, but the Justice League Dark Rangers began to use their magic, Constantine creating flying swords, Holland making giant green hands appear out of nowhere, Zatanna throwing rings of fire, Jason shooting fire with his hands and Boston hitting the monsters.
"Don't transform yet, but you can use the axes as swords," Jason said.
With this, the C-Zone Rangers began to fight the tombstone monsters, each using their respective axe to combat them depending on their style, with Diana being the best at it, since it wasn't that different from a sword for her; Barry did it as usual, running and hitting, but the rest were the ones who had problems, because even though they had been trained by the commander to use swords, they were shorter and they needed to calculate the blow better.
At first, this might have seemed impractical, but in fact, they turned out better than they thought, as they seemed to have protective fields around them that protected them from blows. It was clear that these axes were made to protect beginners from these kinds of threats, but they still had to take out those stone monsters, but with less difficulty.
The commander had little trouble, as he threw his boomerangs at the tombstone monsters with his classic precision, without missing a single throw.
"See you later, Rangers, next time I won't be merciful to you" Faust said before entering the portal, which was closing quickly.
"No! If the portal closes, we won't be able to follow it!" Ranger Holland said. He said this because hell wasn't just a simple cavern of fire, it was a complete underground world where anyone could get lost, so they couldn't let the portal close.
"I'll take care of it!" Constantine said, running to the portal and using his hands and a trick to keep it open as long as possible. "Quickly, destroy the last ones and get back here! I can't hold it for long!" He warned.
"Quick! Let's finish this!" Kal ordered.
When he gave the order, Zatanna again said words that the others did not understand, and shot rings of fire at all the tombstone monsters around her, without hurting the other Rangers, while Holland used the roots and immobilized the remaining ones and then they were destroyed by a wave of fire from Jason.
With this, the rest of the Rangers broke free from the tombstone monsters and ran into the hole, where Constantine was still resisting to prevent it from closing, but they were all able to pass through without any problems, the last one being Constantine himself.
As they passed through the portal, they found themselves in the middle of a small patch of deep red land, surrounded by small rivers of lava. They looked around, and there were mountains or high lands as far as the eye could see, but everywhere they were surrounded by lava.
"Wow, Hell looks just like I imagined," Barry said.
"It's not a pretty place, is it?" Boston said.
"Ow!" The five Rangers screamed as they saw Boston had just materialized. They could finally see him for what he really was. He was a very pale ghost with white pupil-less eyes surrounded by a small black outline in each one, and he was wearing a tight red suit with a B in the center of his waist and a somewhat long collar.
"They always get scared when they see Boston" Constantine said.
"You'll get used to seeing him after a few times, cadets. Now, let's find Faust" The commander ordered.
"Follow us carefully. The lava in Hell is just as dangerous as in real life. Only demons could fall into it and emerge unharmed," Jason advised.
The eleven Rangers were jogging along a never-before-trodden and rather dangerous path. They occasionally tripped over a rock, and Barry almost fell into the lava once, but Zatanna or Boston were there to save him.
After about five minutes they reached Faust, who was kneeling in front of a giant, muscular blue monster wearing a yellow vest and shorts that reached down to his knees. He had black hair and beard that had pointed edges, and some rather large white fangs could be seen from his lips; and if that wasn't menacing enough, his blood red eyes with black pupils and red irises made him look even scarier.
Constantine knew what was happening, so he cast a spell and struck Faust, preventing him from opening the horn and releasing all the souls the demon needed.
"I can't believe it, the Justice League Dark is too stubborn" Faust said getting up and was going to give the horn to Astaroth, but he wanted him to give her what he promised before giving it to him, which Zatanna took advantage of to throw another ring of fire at him, a ring that didn't hit Faust, but was caught by the giant blue hand that turned towards them.
"Well, well, well. It's Etrigan and his band of insignificant wizards" Said the monster.
"I think you know why we came here, Astaroth," Jason said.
"Yes, but you won't succeed" Faust thought about giving the horn to Astaroth at that moment, but he still distrusted him, he wanted to get what he wanted, but not before giving him the horn. "Don't think that I forgot who put me in this world to prevent me from making the Earth my personal hell. Today is the day of vengeance and the day of the death of Etrigan and the Justice League Dark" He said raising his hands, and at that moment, winged demons began to emerge from above, while others emerged from the rivers of lava.
"Well, it's time to stop Astaroth," Commander Wayne said.
"Are we ready?" Kal said, stepping ahead of Constantine.
"Ready!" The other four Rangers from Zone C responded.
"Celestials, grant us the power of magic!" The five said in unison and transformed.
"Ready?" Constantine asked.
"Ready!" The other four Justice League Dark Rangers responded in unison.
"Justice League Dark, grant me the power of magic!" Constantine said and transformed.
Zatanna said more words than anyone could understand and transformed.
"The human form has disappeared, it is time for the Crimson Ranger to appear!" Jason said and a tornado of fire enveloped him as he transformed.
"Green nature, source of life, grant me your power" Ranger Holland said and transformed.
"World of the ghosts, grant me your power" Boston said and transformed. His suit was white with red edges, and his visor was shaped like a speech bubble that you see in comic books, but smaller, but Boston could see everything well, it didn't obstruct his view.
"Justice League, activate" Commander Wayne said and transformed.
With this, the C-Zone Rangers now saw that their suits were still the same in design, but now had the shine that the Justice League Dark Rangers' suits had.
"This is amazing" Kal said.
"We look great" Barry said.
"Save that for another time," said the Dark Ranger. This stopped the rest of the C-Zone Rangers, as they liked the suits, but remembered that the 10-minute countdown had already begun.
"Excuse me, Commander, we're coming now. One, Kal-El. Justice League Red" Kal said.
"Two, Diana Prince. Justice League Blue" Diana said.
"Three, John Stewart. Justice League Green" John said.
"Four, Barry Allen, Justice League Yellow" Barry said.
"Five, Shayera Hol. Justice League Pink" Shayera said.
"Dark Ranger," the commander said.
"Rangers from Zone C" The six of them said in unison.
"Magical excellence. Justice League Dark Gold" Constantine said.
"The brilliant and cunning sorceress. Justice League Dark Silver" Zatanna said.
"The inhabitant of Earth and Hell. Justice League Dark Crimson" Jason said.
"The force of nature. Justice League Dark Green" Holland said.
"The inhabitant invisible to mortals. Ghost Ranger" Boston said.
"We are the Justice League Dark" the five rangers said in unison.
"We are Power Rangers, and we are here to defend the Earth" The eleven Rangers said in unison, leaving an explosion of colors followed by one of fire behind them.
"Time to attack" Kal said. The battle was on.
