Kiro then comes to Amos' room where he's meditating peacefully, and greets Kiro with respect.
[Amos] Kiro, isn't it? Please, have a seat, and have some tea.
[Kiro] What do you want from me? You're going to accuse me of insulting your leadership?
[Amos] I would… but I am also a patient and tolerant man. Xaolon is very hot-headed and disrespectful sometimes, however he is a fierce warrior. But you, that ability you showed to everyone, it is something I've heard from my hometown at the lower ring of Ba Sing Se…
[Flashbacks reveal a story about a group of Earthbender bandits]
Long time ago, there were a group of bandits who robbed treasures and relics from Omashu but got incarcerated in the process. The cells were made of Iron, and Metalbending did not exist yet. Days passed and they were desperate to escape. Until one day, the leader, Kor Ahn, deduced that just like stones are made of earth, so are the bones of the human body, which he tested his theory by manipulating the bones of a possum chicken, which was successful. Then he christened the ability as…
Bonebending… the ability to bend every part of the skeleton of every living being. Once he has done testing with the possum chicken, he started testing with a human. [Kor Ahn then uses bonebending on a guard so he can escape his cell and free his companions, who became terrified of their leader's new ability] He wanted to show Bonebending to his crew, but they became horrified by their leader's descent into bloodlust, so the bandits betrayed their leader by imprisoning him in a cell made by the prison walls. Enraged by their betrayal, he killed his own crew, one by one, until they stopped him with the help of the guards. So the king of Omashu ordered Kor Ahn's execution, and so ended the practice of Bonebending.
[End flashback] Until now.
[Kiro] What do you mean by that?
[Amos] There's a theory. One: Either this power appeared out of nowhere or Two: You have inherited this ability and you didn't even know.
[Kiro] So are you telling me is that not only I have Metalbending and Earthbending, but that I have a dangerous power that grants me the ability to bend the bones of the human body?
[Amos] Precisely… Do you want to know why I brought you here and not your friend…?
[Kiro] Well, not that I think of it.
[Amos] You reminded me of myself in my days during the Navy. I was tasked to guard a prisoner who committed a murder, which caused my home at Ba Sing Se to be in chaos! Perhaps you might have heard of him. He was the man who killed the Earth Queen Hou-Ting.
[Kiro] Zaheer.
[Amos] Yes. I was skeptical at first because I was dealing with the man who murdered the queen and brought chaos into my home. But the time I spent with him, I learned that Zaheer didn't want to cause chaos for the sake of it. He had a valid reason for what he fights for… freedom.
[Kiro] So you came to realize that Zaheer was in a way right? That doesn't even justify that what he did was an evil act.
[Amos] Is it evil to free the people you care about from their oppressors?
[Kiro] I… well…
[Amos] I get it, kid. It might be difficult and complex, but if you read many history books, about tyrannical Fire Lords and inept politicians, you'll realize that Zaheer had proved a point. What an irony… I was supposed to guard him, but in the end, he became my teacher.
[Kiro, out of curiosity asks Amos] Then… what happened after that?
[Amos, reluctantly agrees to respond] After Korra died, Xiao Jun ordered Zaheer's unjust execution in secret, making a fake statement that he died from an unknown causes. Zaheer was a philosopher and someone who knows the grey morality of our world, and he died because of people like Xiao Jun only care for their own interests. Zaheer's death inspired me to stand up against the very people that abuse of their power and their citizens.
[Kiro] You expect me to believe you.
[Amos] No… I don't expect you to do so… but I see that you have been manipulated for 22 years. I can help you master bonebending until you learn to control it, before it gets a hold of you.
[Kiro] Well, I don't know if I want this ability. You know what they say; "knowledge is power".
[Amos] And knowledge can become a poison. People like Fire Lord Ozai, Hou-Ting or more recently Xiao Jun simply seek to propagandize their own version of the truth, while nullifying the real truth in the process. And you and your friends were clearly victims for falling into Xiao Jun's propaganda. I can see clearly now that you have a desire to end Xiao Jun's life, but the question is… How are you going to achieve it…?
[Meanwhile in Xai Bau's Grove in the Spirit World, EVAC scans for the footprints of Saito's group and analyses other footprints which are from Red Lotus sentries, where he followed them to a hole where it leads to the Red Lotus' fortress. EVAC then sent the coordinates to Xiao Jun's androids]
[The scene transitions to the Red Lotus' fortress, where Kiro and Amos continue their intense conversation over tea. Amos' calm demeanor contrasts with the volatile storm brewing within Kiro as he processes Amos' words.]
[Kiro] (hesitantly) If I even consider learning this… bonebending… what would that make me? Another monster, like Kor Ahn?
[Amos] That depends on how you choose to use it. Power is neither good nor evil; it's a tool. Bonebending is a weapon that can be used for liberation or tyranny, for survival or domination. What matters is who wields it… and why.
[Kiro] (sighing) You make it sound simple, but this power feels like a curse.
[Amos] Many things feel like a curse at first. But understanding and control can transform a curse into strength. You may not see it now, but if you don't learn to control this ability, it will control you.
[Kiro] And what if it's better left unmastered? Buried, like Kor Ahn's legacy?
[Amos] (leaning forward) Because you can't bury who you are, Kiro. Not forever. Whether you acknowledge it or not, this is part of you, a legacy hidden within your bloodline. The only question is whether you'll let it consume you or master it before it does.
[At that moment, Kiro seems conflicted, his gaze drifting to his hands as he contemplates the dangerous power within him. The scene shifts to the Spirit World, where EVAC's mission is unfolding with urgency.]
[Spirit World - Xai Bau's Grove]
[EVAC moves through the dense foliage, scanning the ancient grounds with a sharp focus. His sensors detect faint footprints left by Saito and his group, mixed with tracks of Red Lotus sentries. After analyzing the data, EVAC follows a trail leading to a hidden entrance to the Red Lotus fortress.]
[EVAC] (quietly, activating his communication system) Coordinates locked. Transmitting to Xiao Jun's androids.
[Moments later, Xiao Jun's androids receive the coordinates and begin moving towards the Red Lotus fortress, preparing for an impending assault. Back in the fortress, Kiro stands to leave, the weight of Amos' words lingering in his mind.]
[Kiro] I… I need time to think.
[Amos] (nodding, with understanding) Take all the time you need. Just remember, Kiro, freedom is not won by those who fear their own strength. You've been given a gift, however dark it may seem. Use it wisely.
[As Kiro exits the room, Amos watches him with a knowing expression, understanding that Kiro's journey to self-acceptance has only begun. The scene cuts to Kiro wandering the fortress hallways, lost in thought, unaware of the brewing storm as Xiao Jun's forces close in on their location.]
[Saito] Man I feel worried for Kiro…
[Zyna] I'm pretty sure he will be fine… after all, he is stronger, he has endured a lot of pain.
[Saito] But not psychological pain. Ever since Hārun show us the truth, Kiro became more distant and cold.
[Maya] Even though he became a different person, he is still our friend. Sometimes the line between friend and enemy is not as clear as we all thought, once it is crossed, there's no going back, because some transformations become permanent.
[Saito becomes even more worried about Kiro. However he hears a distant noise coming outside the cells, which turned out to be misiles, right they hit the cells and many other areas of the fortress. It was Xiao Jun's forces who located the Red Lotus' fortress via EVAC.]
[Amos] They found us… Everyone! Defend yourselves and evacuate!
[Kiro charges in for the fight with the Red Lotus. Saito then proceeds to follow suit and gave Hok a spirit blaster.]
[Saito] Hok, come on!
[Hok yelling]
[Saito then uses his bending to create an armor made of Crystals to defend himself from Xiao Jun's androids. Xaolon, being wounded from his fight against Kiro, went to hiding as he is in no condition to fight. Zyna uses her Firebending to fend off some androids before she gets taken by one]
[Zyna] (struggling) Hok!
[Hok] ZYNA!!! Hang on I'm coming!! [Hok then jumped to save Zyna from her captors, only to end up captured as well] I stand corrected.
[EVAC] Engage all hostiles! I've got the bridge! [EVAC then proceed to fight against many Red Lotus soldiers without any effort.]
[Kiro fights a couple of androids, only to be subdued by EVAC as he takes him]
[grunts angrily]
[Kiro yelling]
[As Kiro grunts and struggles, Amos watches from the corner of his eye, fighting back androids with his own bending. His face contorts with frustration, realizing that their efforts are failing.]
[Amos] (shouting to the Red Lotus fighters) Fall back! Defend yourselves as best as you can, but evacuate if you have the chance!
[Maya fights off many enemies with her Metalbending and using a Spirit blaster against a couple of androids, while she didn't noticed one of the aiming at her.]
[Saito] MAYA, LOOK OUT!!!
[The Android blasts at both Maya and Saito, who took the hit but left them buried, while EVAC and his troops took many prisoners, which included Kiro, Zyna, Hok, Amos and Xaolon.]
[EVAC surveys the battlefield with satisfaction, signaling his androids to round up the prisoners and prepare for transport.]
[EVAC] (coldly, to his troops) Mission accomplished. Secure all hostiles and prepare for extraction.
[As the androids gather the captured members of the Red Lotus, Saito and Maya lie helplessly in the rubble, both physically and emotionally devastated. They watch, powerless, as their friends are taken away.]
