-Chapter Fifty-Five-

"I'm certain of it" Vivi firmly nodded. "The cannon has to be there, I can't think of any other options besides that place—it has to be up in the clock tower" she insisted, certain that she was right in her assumption.

"Really?" I questioned, tilting my head as I silently thought it over. "I guess that would be the best place to hide a cannon since it's the last place anyone would think to look" I soon nodded, seeing the logic behind the cannon's placement.

"Yeah, but what makes you so sure that it's in there anyway, Vivi?" Usopp curiously asked.

"We have to assume that this dust devil is part of the plan—the cannon must be in a place where they can still see well enough to hit their target" Vivi explained, motioning to the dust cloud around us that obscured most if not all our vision. "Also, it must be in an open space where a cannon can fit, but can't be seen from the sky. So that must be it—it makes perfect sense to me" she concluded.

"It does make sense" I agreed.

"Okay, hold on, we'll leave the others a message since they're heading this way" Usopp nodded, bending down to write a message in the sand.

"Thanks, Usopp—Skylar and I will go on ahead to the tower" Vivi smiled before we took off.

"Hey! Wait, you guys! Wait!" Usopp jumped as he quickly followed after us, not really wanting to be left behind.

"Hurry!" Vivi called back.

"Yeah, you want to get left behind now, do you?" I teasingly smiled.

"Right!" he nodded.

"Look at that, it's the princess!" a Billion shouted as he and a bunch of his men suddenly blocked our way. "We found her boys!" he grinned.

"Yeah, that was just too easy—that signal had led us right to her" another snickered.

"They're more members of Baroque Works—Billions" Vivi frowned as she skidded to a stop and slowly backed away from the group of men.

"Oh no! We signaled the enemy too!" Usopp cried out.

"Why are you surprised? How would you not know that shooting a flare into the sky would catch the enemy's attention as well?" I asked, brows furrowing in confusion.

"I thought they would have been too distracted fighting to see it" the sharpshooter argued with a whimper.

"It...it'd be pretty hard to ignore a flare that bright" I sweat dropped. "Well, anyway, we're going to have to do something to get rid of them" I huffed with the shake of my head.

"Ah! Noisy Attack!" Usopp suddenly shouted, dragging his nails down a chalkboard that he seemingly pulled out of nowhere.

"Well, I guess that works" I winced, cringing at the awful sound his nails made racking down the chalkboard as the men around us dropped their weapons to try and block out the sound.

"Tremble at the power of my nails! Come on, Vivi, Skylar—let's go!" Usopp ordered, grabbing our hands before quickly taking off into a sprint through the group of distracted men.

"Hey, over there! Get them!" one of the Billions shouted after regaining his senses just long enough to spot us running.

"Faster! We have to run faster, guys!" Usopp cried out.

"I don't think that I can, guys!" Vivi worriedly called back.

"We need to shake them off somehow—they're just going to keep coming if we don't" I pointed out, aware that we couldn't really waste time fighting them all...but we also couldn't risk bringing them to the clock tower with us.

"And how are we supposed to do that when they're everywhere?!" Usopp shouted.

"Don't let the princess get away, those promotions are on the line!" one of the men shouted which was then followed by a loud grunt. Skidding to a halt when I suddenly heard the sound of weapons and bodies hitting the ground, I curiously peered back. I couldn't help but tense up when I spotted the familiar face of that Marine woman from before.

"Uh...thank you?" Usopp questioned, naturally confused by the woman's sudden appearance and generous offer in getting rid of the men for us.

"I'm confused, why are you here?" I frowned.

"We're here to help you, not fight—you need to go and stop the explosion in the town square, okay?" she calmly explained. "Now go, quickly!" she ordered, not really bothering to look back at us.

"Okay—let's get going Usopp, Skylar!" Vivi nodded. "Come on, hurry! Thank you!" she quickly called back to the woman.

"Uh...yeah, thanks" I nodded as well, lingering for a second before turning away and taking off with the other two.

"Hurry, we have to hurry!" Usopp frantically shouted.

"Hey, Usopp" I gently called out as I ran up right beside the sharpshooter, catching his attention.

"Yeah, what is it?" he asked, sounding almost out of breath as he started to pant...though I couldn't blame him as I was starting to feel my own breath become a little ragged thanks to all this running. My sore limbs were practically screaming at me by this point to stop and rest as my wounds continued to throb in irritation, sending jolts of pain up and down my entire person.

"Do you perhaps know that Marine's name back there?" I asked, motioning back toward the woman with the familiar face. I was curious to know her name, wanting to finally think of her as someone other than Kuina's lookalike. Instead, I heaved a sigh when the only response he gave me was a simple shrug of his shoulders.

"We've wasted a lot of time" Vivi suddenly noted, now worrying her lower lip as she started to grow nervous.

"I don't know why they helped us back there, but if it weren't for those Marines, we'd be a lot worse off now" Usopp pointed out.

"I wonder if Smoker had anything to do with their sudden involvement" I curiously pondered, almost forgetting about the Marine Captain that had been locked up with us and present when Crocodile revealed his plan in creating his perfect Utopia.

"Maybe, but we can't really worry about that right now—we can think about it later" Usopp dismissively waved as I nodded.

"Vivi..." I mumbled when the princess suddenly started to slow down her pace after catching sight of a man hitting the ground after being shot.

"No, don't look at that! We don't have time to help them—if we don't stop the explosion, the causalities will be a lot worse than that!" Usopp frowned when he saw the princess starting to lag behind as well.

"Right" Vivi tightly screwed her eyes shut before reluctantly agreeing with him.

"Crying about it isn't going to stop the attack from happening" Usopp reminded her. "In two minutes, we're either going to beat them or we're going to die—we still have time left" he assured her.

"Yes" she hesitantly nodded.

"Don't forget that we're all here helping you, you're not alone" I gently smiled.

"Yeah..." her voice wavered, now sounding to be on the verge of tears as she continued nodding.

"Right there! Vivi, Usopp, Skylar!" Nami suddenly shouted as she came riding towards us on Chopper's back.

"It's Nami and Tony" Vivi pointed out the second she spotted the two.

"What's going on?" Nami asked the second she and Chopper caught up and started to run beside the three of us. "The Marines just helped us out back there" she frowned, brows furrowed in confusion as she motioned back in the direction they had just come from.

"Were you able to find where the cannon is?" Chopper asked.

"We haven't confirmed it yet, but this is the only place that it can be in" Vivi told them as we finally arrived at the clock tower. "We must have passed it a bunch of times before I realized it—the cannon is up there, I'm absolutely sure of it" she firmly stated as she motioned toward the top of the tower.

"The clock tower?" Nami questioned.

"I see, from all the way up there you can get a really good shot at the square" Chopper realized.

"We still need Pell to get here though, it's the only way to stop it" Vivi said, turning her attention skywards. "Pell, I wonder what happened?" she worriedly mumbled to herself as she thought back on something. "Pell, I don't see him up there anywhere" she frowned when she realized that she couldn't see her companion anywhere up in the sky.

"Ah, but I don't think there's any way we can get to the top of the tower in less than a minute without any help" Nami frowned.

"Not unless we could stretch up there like Luffy" I remarked.

"Pell, where are you? Hurry, we need you..." Vivi muttered, nervously bouncing in place as she continued to look for the man.

"For now, we're going have to get moving without him" Chopper said, already making his way toward the staircase.

"We're going have to climb the stairs, you guys ready?" Usopp asked.

"That does seem to be the only way we can somewhat make it up there in time" I nodded.

"Hey, Nami! Hey, Vivi! Hey, Skylar!" Sanji suddenly shouted from one of the windows of the clock tower as he now peered down at us.

"Sanji, what are you doing all the way up there?" Usopp asked.

"What do you think? You left the message where the smoke was, didn't you?" the blond questioned. "The message said to go to the clock tower, so I figured I better head up here to meet you—so what should I do? Where's the cannoneer anyways?" he asked.

"The top! He's at the top!" Usopp shouted, pointing upwards. "Go up from there and take him down!" he ordered.

"Hey, is that Zoro?" I asked, squinting my eyes as my gaze wandered further up from where Sanji was only to instantly spot a familiar head of green hair wandering around on the roof.

"Huh? Where do you see Zoro?" Nami frowned, tilting her head back and shielding her eyes from the sun with her hand.

"Right there, see" I pointed.

"Sanji?" Zoro questioned, finally catching everyone else's attention and confirming my suspicions. "Hey, where were you? I was looking" he called down to the blond.

"Yep, that's him" I nodded.

"Zoro, you're here too?" Sanji questioned.

"What are you doing down there?" Zoro asked.

"Funny, I was going to ask you the same thing" the blond frowned.

"It was the Marines—they kept saying, "go north, go north," so I just kept going north until I got all the way up here."

"North and up aren't the same thing!"

"Your sense of direction is bad and you should feel bad!" I shouted, cupping my hands over my mouth to help in amplifying the sound of my voice.

"Tell us about it..." the other's sweat dropped.

"Shut up!" Zoro embarrassingly snapped right back.

"Anyways, good job you two! Now just keep going up from there and destroy the clock tower—okay!" Usopp shouted.

"No, wait, they can't get inside the clock tower from where they are now" Vivi shook her head. "You see, there are only two ways in—the back stairs on the first floor and the sky. That's why we need Pell."
