Hello there!
So, most of the people said to redeem her, so here we are. I will try to make her a redemption arc. This will have some cannon deviations, but I'll try to keep it as close as possible. Also, Acheron won the ship poll, so yeah, congrats to the Acheron fans. As always, the disclaimer is in the first chapter and I will stop yapping.
Cocolia went flying straight to the hand of the Engine of Creation but before she could do anything, Naruto appeared behind her and gave her a kick on the back. The woman stumbled backwards as Naruto stalked towards her, his face showing no emotion whatsoever. She coughed up blood as the icy armour shattered, leaving her shivering as she clutched the golden light of the Stellaron to her chest.
Naruto walked up to her and crouched down. "Are you done?" He asked in a no-nonsense manner. "Do you see the devastation that Cancer can cause? Do you still want to let their plan succeed and watch your world cold and dead? All you have to do is surrender the Stellaron, and it'll all be over." Cocolia looked at him defiantly, making him sigh in defeat. "Alright then." He stood up slowly. "As you wish."
Naruto held out his hand and opened his palm. Thin blue lines floated from his fingertips towards Cocolia and attached to her head and chest as she slowly floated above the ground. Naruto closed his hand into a fist, and Cocolia screamed. The blue threads glowed yellow as the power from the Stellaron was siphoned into Naruto's vambrace.
All Cocolia could do was scream in agony, as she felt the power she was given by her saviour drain away. The pain worsened as her memories flashed before her eyes. She saw Serval, shouting at her to leave her position as the Supreme Guardian because she was unfit. She saw Bronya, spiting her and telling her that she hated her. She saw the Underworld thriving in their warmth as the Overworld froze.
However, right before her eyes, pieces peeled off the memories, revealing Serval looking at her with a soft expression, Bronya, walking away with a hurt look on her face, and the Underworld, suffering in silence, their calls for help being mistaken for letters of contentment.
'Oh Aeons.' Tears seeped from her eyes. 'What have I done?' The faces of countless people in Belobog flashed before her eyes. 'I've failed them all.' Above all two faces stood out. 'Serval… Bronya… I'm sorry.' That was the last though on her mind as her vision faded to black.
Bronya watched, horror streaking her face, as her mother floated in the air, screaming in agony while Naruto, someone she'd grown to trust, pulled out something from her body. Eventually, the threads stopped what they were doing and dropped Cocolia to the ground. Bronya ran towards her and knelt on the ground, pulling her mother's head onto her lap and placing a finger on her neck. She let out a sigh of relief when she felt her weak, but steady pulse. "Don't worry," She turned to face Naruto and noticed the golden orb floating between his fingers. "I didn't kill her. Besides, if she survived this much Stellaron corruption, she'd survive the extraction easily."
"Extraction?" Caelus asked confusedly. "What do you mean extraction?" Everyone looked at him, patiently waiting for an answer.
Naruto sighed. "An extraction, is when you take something from something. It is really not that hard to understand." They kept staring at him with a deadpan expression, making him sigh again. 'Either I'm surrounded by idiots, or they've been hanging with March too much… Probably the second one.' "In this situation, I just extracted the energy of the Stellaron from her body. She'll probably be asleep for a good bit, and she might be a bit weak when she wakes up but otherwise, she should be fine."
Bronya sighed in relief and looked at her mother. Cocolia may not have been the best, but she couldn't imagine a past without her. "Hey, Mr Naruto? How long do you think she was corrupted for?"
Naruto hummed. "I can't be sure, but there is a good chance it started from the time she became Supreme Guardian. Do you remember any personality changes she had?"
Bronya thought about it. "Yes… it was slow, but I felt like her personality changed after she adopted me. Like she went from warm and kins, to cold and indifferent."
Naruto nodded. "Sounds like Stellaron Corruption alright. Causes rapid personality changes that can take as little as two years, so this is one of the slower times." He looked at the orb in his hand and back at the monument. "Anyways, how about you head out and I get started with sealing this thing? Once you reach Serval and Gepard, the waypoints should be back online. You should be able to tell when they're glowing blue. You should also be able to transport your friends by holding their hands, though someone else will have to hold Cocolia." The crew dismissed their weapons and listened intently while Bronya and Seele tilted their heads in confusion.
"Alright! Consider it done Mr Naruto! Come on guys!" March cheerfully skipped off, followed by an exasperated Dan Heng and a confused Seele. Caelus stayed behind with Bronya and loaded Cocolia onto his back in like a before they followed the others.
Naruto watched them leave with a smile which promptly disappeared when they left his sensory range. He turned to the monument that held the Stellaron and let go of the orb. It sailed back to the contained Cancer of Worlds while Naruto connected his hands behind his back and lifted to crack his back. (A/N: Toji when fighting Gojo)
"Alright Stellaron." He slowly walked up to it and part of his vambrace liquified and moved to his other arm, before covering his palms to make pitch black claws. Kurama chuckled. 'Watch out there! Naruto Uzumaki is back!'
"Let's see what you can do shall we?" The Stellaron seemed to have heard his challenge because it pulsed with energy, and summoned golden projections of the Antimatter Legion for its defense. "This same trick again? Well, too bad for you, because I've already seen this!"
He disappeared from sight and reappeared behind the projections with a smirk, and continued to walk towards the Stellaron as the summoned monsters disintegrated into dust. "You can corrupt a world, but you can't save yourself. Kind of sad, is it not? All that power, but noting spared for yourself."
Red, translucent chains came out of his back and surrounded the Stellaron, repelling its energy and containing it as they corralled the power of the Destruction. Naruto watched them move with a small smile, their motions soothing like a cold drink on a hot day. He raised his hand and moved it in a familiar way, drawing golden patterns and letters in the cold air. Once he was done, he tapped the center, sending his work flying towards the monument with a ripple. They sunk through the chains and gathered around the Stellaron, turning its bright gold light into a dull grey one. "There. That should make it inactive. *sigh* Man, I haven't done that in ages." He cracked his fingers before pulling the Stellaron out of the monument and sealing it away. He closed his eyes and connected to the Trailblaze, sifting through the Space Anchors in his head before honing in on the one near Caelus and reaching out with his mind. With a bright blue light, he disappeared.
Caelus was quiet. He just saw his teacher absolutely decimate Cocolia, the enemy they'd struggled to defeat, even with the gaze of an Aeon supporting them, without breaking a sweat and then going forward to deal the Stellaron without their help (granted, he didn't know about the power requirements for sealing, but still). Right now, March was enthusiastically describing the feeling of teleporting through Space Anchors to Seele while Dan Heng was correcting some of her bigger words and explaining them to Seele when the Underworld girl didn't understand what they talked about. Meanwhile, Bronya lagged behind with him, occasionally checking on her mother to make sure she was doing fine. Speaking of her, Caelus could feel the water dripping on his shirt from the melting ice that was covering her right hand. Now that he thought about it, Caelus couldn't help but wonder how no one had noticed a problem with that. "Hey Bronya?" Bronya looked at him with a questioning hum. "How come you never asked about her frozen arm?"
"She said that it was a form of Fragmentum Corruption that took hold after she was trapped there for around a month." Bronya said thoughtfully. "That was why she made the rule for Fragmentum teams to have a communicator with the outside, so that they could radio for help if something similar happened to them."
Caelus nodded and opened his mouth to reply, but stopped when he felt a pulse through his body. He turned back to look where they came from. "Caelus?" Bronya's voice broke him out of his stupor and he turned to see everyone looking at him with some worry. It made him feel warm and fuzzy. "Is everything ok? You've been staring at the way we came from for quite some time now"
"Yeah, I'm alright." He said with a shake of his head. "It's just that, I felt the Stellaron stop resonating."
Everyone's eyes widened before March let out a sound of glee and pointed somewhere. "Guys! Look! The Space Anchor! It's active again!" Caelus looked where March was pointing as saw a Space Anchor, glowing bright blue with the rings slowly circling around the center. "I think I saw a dormant one near the Silvermane Camp, so we can go there with this. Come on! Let's go."
Meanwhile, Bronya and Seele were looking at them confusedly. "What the heck is going on?" Seele asked Bronya, only for her to shake her head. Their jaws dropped when they saw March disappear and reappear a few meters to the left with a sheepish expression.
Dan Heng sighed. "Come on. Let's go meet up with Seval and Gepard." He looked at Bronya and Seele. "One of you hold my hand and one of you hold March's. That way, we can take you there." The girls looked at each other and nodded before tentatively holding hands, Bronya with Dan Heng and Seele with March. The 4 disappeared in a bright blue light. Caelus smiled and followed, giving into the warm vortex he felt enveloping his senses.
As soon as he appeared, Caelus was Serval ran up to him, dragged him towards a pitched tent and pulled Cocolia off his back before laying her down and giving her a quick look over. She let out a relieved sigh when she felt her friend's pulse and dropped down on a chair set up nearby. They stayed like that for a good while, talking about what had happened when Naruto walked through the door with a smile. "Hey all! I hope I didn't miss anything?"
March shook her head. "Don't worry Mr Naruto, you didn't miss anything. We were just talking about what happened back there."
Naruto nodded. "What about Cocolia and Gepard? Have they woken up yet?"
Bronya tilted her head. "Gepard? What happened to Gepard?"
Naruto laughed sheepishly. "I may or may not have given him a minor concussion on the way here, just to knock him unconscious."
"…" Bronya stared at him with a deadpan expression. "Did you really have to do that? Maybe you could've just knocked him out, or given him laughing gas?"
Naruto shook his head before tilting it confusedly and letting out a sigh. "Ok first of all, knocking them out and making them unconscious via concussion mean basically the same thing. Second of all, laughing gas? Really? Wind exists you know. And lastly, if you want me to take a look at either of them, just let me know. I'm somewhat of a medic myself."
Serval perked up. "Can you give them a once over? I'm no doctor. That title goes to Nat."
"So, you know each other?" Seval blinked, making Naruto chuckle. "Sure, sure. I'll give them a look. Who knows what might have happened while I was gone?" With that, he went off to take a look at Gepard.
Within 30 seconds, they heard a scream, jolting them from their seats. "What?! I will arrest you! Surrender in the name of Landa- *crash*!"
They ran into the tent to find Gepard, face first on the floor, while Naruto was watching with an is-this-really-happening, expression. "Easy now. I lied. Cocolia is still alive. I'll let Serval take care of you, or I'll have to pay for the equipment." He turned to look at the audience that had gathered. "I'll leave him to you. Bronya, you come with me. We're going to deal with your mother."
Bronya nodded tentatively and they left to the adjacent room where they had left Cocolia. Once they were gone, Seval helped Gepard stand up and sit down on the bed. "Hey Geppie, what did he lie to you about?"
Gepard sighed at the nickname but answered anyway. "He said the Supreme Guardian was tap dancing with you."
Naruto hovered a glowing green hand over Cocolia's body, using the jutsu to find any remnants he may have missed when he extracted the Stellaron corruption, and so far, he'd found nothing. "Hmmm… So far, so good. Nothing out of the ordinary, nothing broken. Just that frozen arm that's causing trouble." Bronya curiously looked over his shoulder as the green glow turned golden and he ran it over her forearm. The remaining ice melted, giving way to warm blood. Bronya gasped, but Naruto remained calm. He moved his other hand over the wound and the green glow returned, stopping the blood flow and healing it till it looked healthy. He kept going for the whole arm before taking her pulse and checking her eyes. "Alright. I think we're ready to wake her now."
With that, he took out a bottle of smelling salts and held it near Cocolia's nose. In under a second, she took a deep breath and her eyes flew open. She tried to get up, but Naruto held her down. "Easy, easy. Deep breaths. In, out, in and out. You just woke up and moving too much at this stage won't be good, so just try to lie down, ok?" Cocolia took deep breaths and looked around. "Feeling better?" She nodded. "Can you see?" Another nod.
"Ok then." He held up two fingers. "How any fingers am I holding up."
Cocolia looked at his fingers and squinted her eyes. "Two?"
Naruto nodded. "Good. Are you feeling dizzy?" She shook her head. "Any discomfort anywhere?" Another shake. "That's good. Now, do you remember who you are or anyone you know?"
Cocolia nodded. "I'm Cocolia Rand, the 18th Supreme Guardian of Belobog. I remember Serval, Gepard and Bronya… Bronya! Is she ok?"
She tried to get up again, but Naruto pushed her down again. "Easy there. She's right here." He motioned for Bronya to move in and moved Cocolia's face, so that she could see her. "See? She's fine."
Cocolia stopped moving to lift her hand and place it on Bronya's cheek. "I'm sorry Bronya." Small tears gathered at the corner of her eyes. "I'm so sorry. Please forgive me."
Bronya leaned into her touch with a smile and held her mother's hand with her own.
Naruto smiled at the sight and let them savour the moment before clearing her throat. "I'll leave you two to catch up, but before that, I want Bronya to make sure she doesn't leave the bed until I've given her a once over. Since I extracted the Stellaron energy, the portion of your power that was replaced by it is now empty, so you need to rest to recover it."
The mother and daughter duo nodded and Naruto turned to leave. Before he could, Cocolia's voice made him turn around. "If she's there, could you please ask Seval to meet me?"
Naruto nodded with a smile. "Sure." He walked back into Gepard's tent and told Serval, who ran off before giving her brother a once over ad declaring him good to go.
He walked back to the others and yawned. "I think I'm going to go back to the Express. This whole thing is a bit too much for me. Besides, I want to take care of something. Feel free to let me know if you need anything done." With that, he refused to elaborate and disappeared in a blue light without a word.
March stared at the spot he was standing with a deadpan expression. "Wonder what he's up to?"
Naruto appeared on the Express' Parlor car with a flash of blue light and took a seat on the couch. He let out a loud sigh as he let himself sink into the depths of his mindscape. "Haaah! That was something wouldn't you say?"
Kurama snorted. "Yeah right. All you did was beat up one puny woman claiming she had a Stellaron on her side and seal it away. Besides, they expected something more, you know?"
Naruto chuckled. "Speaking of them, how are they doing anyway? Are they still asleep, or have they woken up?"
Kurama sighed. "They're still asleep. Probably tired of the transfer. It isn't easy afterall."
Naruto also sighed. "Yeah… It's good to see them again though. Tell them I said hi." With that, he returned to the real world and opened his eyes. When he did, he saw Pom-Pom standing and looking around the Parlor car with a strange expression. He stood up and walked over to the conductor. "Is everything ok, conductor?"
Pom-Pom jumped and turned to face him with a pout. "Don't scare Pom-Pom like that! And for your information, no! There is nothing wrong! Hmph!" The conductor walked away with a pout, making Naruto laugh at how cute it was.
"I better get them prepared. Oh Pom-Pom! I have something to ask! Also, sorry for scaring you."
Pom-Pom jumped again before walking up to him with a pout. "What is it?"
Naruto smiled and pulled out what looked like a large beacon or staff. "I was thinking of using this as somewhat of a beacon to connect with other worlds."
Pom-Pom tilted their head. "Pom-Pom doesn't understand. What can we do with this?"
Naruto's smile widened and a glint came into his eyes. "Well, this is a beacon. It uses to power of the Ninshu to connect between things, kinda like my Hiraishin. The idea is that this will be connected to the express and use some power from the Trailblaze to let people with special passes into the train. I've already got the passes worked out, and right now, I'm just waiting on your approval."
Pom-Pom though about it. "So you can let specific people into the train even if we aren't at their homeworld?" Naruto nodded and pompom hummed. "Sounds good! Be careful who you give the passes to, but it sounds like a good idea!"
Naruto's smile (somehow) widened. "Great! I'll get to setting it up then!" He ran off and pompom wondered if giving him permission had been a good idea.
2800 words. Sorry for the short chapter.
