-Chapter Sixty-Two-

"She's a real pain..." Mr. Two grumbled. "We need to hurry up and fly the coop!" he firmly ordered.

"Yes, sir! Bon Clay, sir!" his men saluted, following his orders with no complaints.

"You guys need to wake up, we have to run—if we can pass through that point in the south, we can escape" Mr. Two explained. "But if we change course immediately, they'll take us down for sure" he said, sounding quite certain of himself as we only smiled at him in return.

"If you want to go then go—we can't go that way" Luffy told him.

"And exactly why not?" he frowned.

"Mr. Bon Clay, we need to set sail while we still can! There's no more time, sir!" one of his men called out to him.

"We need to be at the eastern harbor, we've got an appointment" Nami explained. "There's no time to go around, we'll go straight through" she informed him.

"Yeah, it'd be rude if we're late" I smiled.

"What? Suicide!" Mr. Two scoffed. "It's ludicrous—is there some treasure you're not telling me about that's worth throwing away your lives?!" he angrily huffed, turning away from us and crossing his arms as he turned his nose up into the air as if to really show us just how frustrated he was with our decision. "Fine, runoff and die..." he bitterly grumbled.

"We have got to go and get one of our friends" Luffy explained.

"So it's for your pal that you'd risk is all?" Mr. Two quickly perked up after hearing this.

"Great Bon Clay!" his men frantically shouted, quickly growing impatient as they began to nervously fidget the longer it took their captain to hop aboard their ship.

"Running away now would be against everything Bon Clay stands for—if we abandon allies who are risking their lives to pick up a friend, could we live with ourselves?" Mr. Two suddenly asked his men. "Listen, guys—Straw Hats too—what I must say is of great importance" I smiled at the words he began to speak before the plan he told us was quickly put into action as his ship finally set sail while ours kept still.

"Ready—full speed ahead!" Nami ordered once the time was right and an opening had presented itself. I couldn't help but feel sad as I watched Bon Clay's ship be surrounded by the Marines and shot down from all angles.

"Bon Clay! I promise you, Bon Clay, we will never forget you!" Luffy cried as we sailed away.

"He certainly was a brave man" I smiled.

"He really was" Luffy happily nodded while wiping his eyes.

"Ah! They're after us again!" Usopp suddenly screamed once he noticed that the Marine ships were once against starting to sail after us.

"Get out of our way!" Luffy angrily shouted as a fight broke out between us and the Marines until eventually, their ships started to go down one by one.

-Later-

"Vivi?" Chopper quietly murmured as he stared out toward the empty docks we were supposed to meet the princess at.

"Forget about it, you heard the speech, that was Vivi's voice without a doubt" Zoro said, referring to the speech that the princess had just given soon after we had arrived at the docks.

"They're just broadcasting the ceremony that's being held in Alubarna, Vivi's already made up her mind not to come here" Sanji added.

"She is a princess and she does have responsibilities after all" I reminded the reindeer. "It was a hopeful thought, but in the end, her people should always come first before us pirate" I wistfully sighed, unable to hide my disappointment that the friend we had made wouldn't be joining us on the rest of our adventure despite knowing that she had a responsibility as royalty to be faithful to her people.

"No, I don't believe it—I say she's here" Luffy firmly huffed, refusing to believe that the princess would turn down our offer to join our crew. "This is the place, right?" he asked as if wanting to make sure that we really were in the right meeting place.

"Yeah, that's it" Zoro nodded.

"Let's go, it's past noon" Sanji said.

"There's no way she wouldn't have come, she's defiantly here—let's get out and look for her" Luffy suggested.

"Still just as stubborn as always" I softly chuckled.

"This is bad, guys—the Marines are after us again!" Usopp suddenly shouted the second he spotted more Marine ships coming our way.

"Exactly how many ships are out there?" Zoro asked.

"I see at least six" Usopp counted.

"Dammit! Let's move!" the swordsman cursed as he motioned for us to get ready to leave.

"They really don't have much faith in themselves if they're sending that many after one little ship" I hummed, lips twitching upwards a little.

"Give it up, Luffy, Vivi's course is on a road far different from ours" Sanji told the captain when he saw that he was still looking for any signs of the princess being here.

"Everyone!" we instantly halted what we were doing and looked back just as we finally started to sail away.

"Vivi!" Luffy happily shouted.

"Carue!" Usopp smiled, rushing toward the ship's railing as the two waved at us from the shoreline.

"Vivi?" Nami questioned.

"It's so nice to see her again, she looks lovely" I smiled, admiring how stunning she looked in her outfit.

"See, she came" Luffy proudly grinned.

"Vivi!" Sanji swooned the instant he spotted the young woman ashore.

"We need to go back, better hurry" Usopp said, already getting ready to turn the ship back around.

"The Marines are right behind us too" Chopper reminded us as he continued to happily wave back at the princess.

"I came to say goodbye!" Vivi suddenly shouted.

"What did she say?" Luffy blinked as we halted in our movements, the gears in our heads now slowly starting to turn as we took a moment to really process what she had said.

"Sorry, but I can't go with you" Vivi sadly smiled. "Thank you so much for everything! I'd like to go on more adventures, but I can't ignore the need for my people which I love more than anything" she explained, using a Transponder Snail to help amplify her voice so that we could easily hear her. "I have to stay, I hope you can understand."

"I see" Luffy smiled.

"She really is a good princess, her people are lucky to have her" I smiled as well.

"Thank you, I will…I will remain here and fulfill my duty" she thickly swallowed as her voice started to waver with unshed tears. "If we ever meet again—no matter how much time passes—will you still call me your friend?!" she suddenly cried.

"You'll forever—"

"You idiot!" Nami snapped, harshly hitting the back of Luffy's head and cutting him off before he could finish his sentence. "Don't reply, got it—the Marines now know about Vivi and us. If they can prove she has a connection to us, it's all over, she'll be considered a criminal" she frowned. "Turn away, not another word" she instructed as we followed her lead in turning our backs to the princess. Though that didn't stop us all from exchanging sly glances with one another as we tugged a little at whatever piece of clothing we had covering our arms as the same thought crossed our minds.

With wide smiles spread across our faces, we pulled up our sleeves and held up our arms that had the "x" drawn on them. Silently answering the question she had asked as we ignored the Marines who now started to shoot at us. Each of us stood tall and proud as we continued sailing onward.

"Set sail!" Luffy finally ordered once we were far enough out at sea and the kingdom of Alabasta was now nothing more than a speck in the distance. "Whoa! Those Marines are fast!" he gaped as soon as he noticed just how close the enemy ship was following behind us.

"Or rather, we're being slowed down" Sanji corrected.

"We're not going to make it much further like this, water's flooding in through the holes" Nami pointed out.

"If we don't do something quickly, we're toast" I said.

"Here, they come" Zoro said, grabbing his swords as he got prepared to fight.

"We've got to fight" Sanji firmly stated.

"Then let's go!" Luffy ordered, and just as the three took a step forward...they immediately tripped right over the iron spikes that had once been embedded into the bottom of the ship.

"What's this?!" they angrily snapped.

"Oh, that?" Nami hummed when she saw what they were fussing over. "Usopp said to hold onto them, in case we needed them for something" she explained.

"Who knows what he needs them for" I shrugged.

"Come on!" Zoro growled.

"They're in our way!" Sanji snapped.

"I'll get rid of them" Luffy suddenly offered.
