On Tuesday, August 2nd, 1994, Sirius began training Harry, Hermione, and Ginny in Offensive Magic.

Sirius, Harry, Hermione, and Ginny were in the living room and each of them was standing in front of a dummy.

"Now, " said Sirius clearly, "I have provided these dummies for us to use so that I may train you in Offensive Magic without of any of us hurting each other. If one or more of these dummies gets destroyed beyond repair, I have plenty of extra dummies in the Random Things Room. Wands out."

Sirius, Harry, Hermione, and Ginny all pulled their wands out of their right hand pockets with their right hands and stood at the ready.

"Offensive Magic should not be used indiscriminately, " explained Sirius, "Offensive Magic is far more powerful than Defensive Magic and can have serious legal consequences if used inappropriately. However, if you find yourself faced with a known Death Eater or Dark Witch or Wizard, there may be times when the use of Offensive Magic is justified. Decent witches and wizards tend to know intuitively when the time is right for Offensive Magic."

"What types of Offensive Magic are you going to teach us, Sirius?" asked Harry curiously.

"Well, " smiled Sirius, "I thought we'd start with an offensive spell that knocks people down. This is a spell to use against Death Eaters and Dark Wizards before they have any chance to attack you. This spell should be performed before your enemy has a chance to notice your presence. This is spell for knocking your enemy down before he or she has a chance to see you. What you need to do is point your wand directly at your enemy, in this case your dummy, and say the incantation "Stumblio!"

Next nanosecond, Sirius, Harry, Hermione, and Ginny all pointed their wands at their dummies and cried "Stumblio!"

All four of them managed to make their dummies fall down, but Harry's dummy did more than just fall down, it rolled on the floor until it the wall, then rolled back.

"WOW!" exclaimed Sirius, "Harry, you really do have powerful Offensive Magic,"

"That was my first ever attempt at Offensive Magic and I did that, " said Harry brightly, "Death Eaters and Dark Witches and Wizards aren't getting ahold of me."

"Good for you, Harry, " said Hermione happily, "You're well equipped to any situation that may present itself to you."

"That was amazing, " said Ginny glowingly, "I would want Harry Potter with me in a foxhole any day."

"Good start, everyone, " said Sirius happily, "The next spell I want to train you in is a much more common spell. This spell can be used either as Offensive Magic or Defensive Magic, but when used offensively it's the same as the fall down spell in terms of using it before your enemy has a chance to see you. If you use it after being attacked, then it is a defensive spell. The knock down spell can't be used defensively because the element of your enemy not seeing you is so important to its effectiveness. But this next spell is a stunning spell and can be used either way. It is a basic stunning spell."

Sirius now set Harry's dummy back in front of him and put some kind of nonverbal spell on the dummies to make them move around a bit.

"Point your wands at your dummies, " instructed Sirius, "And say, "Stupefy"

Sirius, Harry, Hermione, and Ginny all pointed their wands at their dummies and cried "Stupefy"

This time, Sirius, Harry, Hermione, and Ginny were all able to stun their dummies, which all stopped moving at once. None of them stood out and that was okay.

"Stunning is a very fundamental part of both Offensive Magic and Defensive Magic, " explained Sirius in a businesslike voice, "But it's a fairly weak spell."

"Useful, though, " realized Harry.

"Yes, " said Sirius, "It's good to have a full arsenal. Now, there's one more piece of Offensive Magic I want to teach you today and this is strictly an offensive spell. This one can still be performed if your enemy sees you. This is a spell that will incapacitate your enemy with very painful heat. You point your wand at your enemy, it doesn't have to be that directly, but point your wand at your enemy and speak the incantation, "Hoticus,"

Sirius, Harry, Hermione, and Ginny all pointed their wands at their dummies and said, "Hoticus!"

Almost instantly, the dummies used by Sirius, Hermione, and Ginny radiated hot air from themselves. Harry's dummy, meanwhile, was actually now burning. Before Sirius, Harry, Hermione, and Ginny even knew what happened Harry's dummy had been reduced to ash.

"Impressive, " grinned Sirius, "Harry, I know you were the top student in Defense Against the Dark Arts last year. Looks like you'd be the top student in Offensive Magic too. You now seem to be more magically powerful than Hermione and that's saying something."

"I always had the potential to be as a good of wizard as Hermione and Ginny are witches if not better, I was just holding myself back by not applying myself to my studies and training the way I should have because of Ron's poor influence, " piped up Harry.

"It's incredible to see up close how much better Harry is without Ron in his life, " said Hermione happily.

"He's really come into his own, " added Ginny, "I couldn't be prouder of Harry."

"I'm really proud of him too, " smiled Hermione.

"Three new spells in one day is enough, " said Sirius firmly, "So let's just practice three for awhile. I'll go get some extra dummies. Don't worry, there are plenty and I can easily order more if we need them."

So, Sirius, Harry, Hermione, and Ginny spent the rest of the afternoon practicing the knock down, stunning, and heat up spells. Hermione and Ginny never reached Harry's level, but all the same Sirius was pleased with how well they had all done.

Learning Offensive Magic had gotten off to a good start.
