-Chapter Eighty-

"I did have a treasure—the pirates who were in debt to me singed over a mountain of valuables to pay me off, but then while I was making my plans to buy a pirate ship and organize a crew...I exchanged it all for cash" Zenny sighed as Minchey inched his way closer toward us, a look of excitement on his face that rivaled Nami's. "When I look back now, I realized that's when my fate took a turn—remember when I told you I was attacked by pirates and I eventually drifted onto the shore of this godforsaken island?" he asked, watching as we nodded. "Well, naturally, I managed to protect the cash" he continued. "Let's face it, I'd risk my life for that money—I was going to use it to buy my lifelong dream...but when I came to, after washing up on the beach..." he heaved another sigh before he finally revealed that the goats had actually eaten all of the money.

"The goats ate your money?!" Nami gaped in shock.

"Really?" Chopper questioned.

"Hm, I'm not surprised" I hummed before worriedly looking down at the goats, even though their stomachs were built to basically digest just about anything that didn't mean it was good for them to eat things that weren't meant to be edible. It was clear they were just fine and had digested the money all those years ago with ease, but that didn't stop the inkling of worry I felt despite it being such a long time ago.

"All of it? They ate all of it?!" Minchey cried.

"Every last beli, well maybe they left two or three bills, but that's it" Zenny said. "So it's like I told you, these guys are my treasure, and not just metaphorically."

"Well, ain't that the sweetest thing I've ever heard" I chuckled, smiling as I felt Baxter bump his head against my hand. "You hear that, buddy, you really are a treasure" I grinned, happily squatting and scratching ruffling his fur as I pressed my forehead against his own.

"All my fortune had been lost, but in return, I gain my friends" Zenny smiled, petting one of the goats that surrounded him. "They don't betray me or cheat me...I finally have friends at my side that don't do anything for selfish motives, they take care of me and in return, I take care of them. So I think I've gotten the greatest treasure in the world" he grinned.

"Good for you, goat man" Luffy smiled.

"Yeah, it's pretty good, I guess I could turn a profit in any situation" Zenny joked, causing us to laugh.

"Oh, gag me..." Minchey bitterly grumbled. "Hey, Straw Hat, you pirates aren't in the clear just yet—there's a fresh fleet out there just waiting to take you on!" he suddenly mocked. "Don't think you're going to get away without a fight!" he laughed as he started to roll away from us.

"Don't talk tough when you're rolling on the floor!" Luffy frowned.

"That's just sad" Nami said, shaking her head.

"Sad? I say that's more pathetic than sad" I scoffed as Zoro stopped the rolling Marine with his sword.

"You're the pathetic ones! You think your puny boat has a chance against nine ships?" Minchey snarled.

"I'm not running away" Luffy firmly huffed as he picked the Marine up off the floor. "Tell your Marine buddies if they want to fight, to come and get me—Gum Gum..." he started to stretch his arm back.

"Yo, Luffy! Angle it a bit higher!" Usopp instructed from the crow's nest, having migrated up there some time ago without any of us really noticing.

"Thanks" Luffy smiled before throwing the redhead up into the air. "Pistol!" his arm shot forward and made harsh contact with Minchey's stomach which sent the man flying.

"And there he goes" I whistled, shielding my eyes from the sun as I watched the man soar.

"Very nice, good direction" Usopp praised just as our ears perked up to the sound of a Transponder Snail going off. After eyeing one another in a brief moment of silence, we finally picked it up.

"This is Captain Moore speaking, I have no interest in the man known as Zenny the Moneylender, my only goal in this matter is to bring you Straw Hats in" Moore gruffly stated, cutting straight to the point. "However, I found that I owe you a debt of honor for delivering us this disgraceful member of my fleet, thus I'll let you choose where we fight—come, bring your ship out" he ordered.

"That's fine, we were thinking of leaving anyway—we'll be heading out in a minute" Luffy answered before hanging up.

"Here you go, old man, I fixed it for you" Usopp said as he handed Zenny back his now-fixed abacus.

"I should have known, thank you" Zenny smiled as he took it.

"Don't mention it, it was my pleasure" Usopp waved as he walked off.

"Everything is set up for supper, all you have to do is heat it up" Sanji informed the old man as he walked by.

"Thanks, much obliged" Zenny nodded as we finally started to board our own ship. "Say...um...listen, you guys, are you sure about this? I mean, you are going to be facing a fleet of nine ships" he worriedly pointed out.

"Don't worry about it—I'm not only strong, but I'm also incredibly lucky" Luffy assured him.

"I can't keep up with you, sonny" he softly chuckled.

"Old-timer," Chopper said, "I made a whole supply for you, so I want you to take your medicine" he told him with a small huff as if trying to look stern and serious despite his adorable face. "Promise me, okay."

"Alright, alright, relax—I promise to take it just like I'm supposed to" Zenny said, assuring the reindeer that he understood his orders.

"We had a really good time, old man" Nami waved as Luffy started to push our ship away from Zenny's.

"Yep, spending time with you and your goats was nice—be safe" I smiled, waving as well. "Baxter, be sure to behave and watch over the old guy" I called back to the goat I had essentially gotten attached to during our time spent with the old man.

"Take good care of yourself" Robin softly smiled.

"Hey, you guys! Take care of the old man, okay!" Chopper called back to the goats.

"We'll see you out on the sea sometime!" Luffy grinned.

"Yeah" Zenny nodded. "Once I finish making repairs to the good ship, Zenny, my boys and I will be setting sail" he waved.

"We'll be waiting for you, Zenny Pirates!" Luffy shouted as I smiled and leaned back against Zoro who hummed.

"Amazed you didn't try bringing that goat along with us" he remarked.

"Yeah..." I sighed. "I thought about it, but found that wouldn't be a good idea."

"Oh? Why's that?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Well one, Sanji probably would have tried to use him as emergency food once we ran out of supplies, and two, because the old man needs him—it would have been wrong to take one of his goats away from him" I explained, ticking off the reasons on my fingers.

"Valid reasons" Zoro nodded as he finally started to approach the Marine fleet. Locking eyes as we sailed past, Luffy and the Captain of the fleet exchanged glances with one another with the raven-haired teen pointing off in a random direction in the fog. The Marine Captain only nodded as he and his men followed after us.

-Later-

"Got to say, that was pretty good thinking, luring them into this foggy reef area" Nami praised from next to Luffy. "You really do use your head sometimes, Luffy" she smiled.

"Huh? What's that?" Luffy asked.

"I don't think he was using his head at all during that whole exchange" I giggled.

"Oh right, of course not, she's right—you weren't thinking at all" Nami sighed. "You are such a moron—I take it back, I wish I had never complimented you" she seethed, stomping her foot in slight frustration.

"What?" Luffy questioned, confused by the navigator's sudden change in mood.

"It's not like he really planned for that to happen, did he?" Sanji asked as I shook my head.

"When has Luffy ever planned for anything to happen?" I questioned.

"Ah, it was just dumb luck then—he was just pointing in a random direction" Usopp shrugged as he exchanged glances with the blond.

"Listen, ship's Doctor, how's the old man really doing?" Robin finally asked after Chopper had finished tending to the bump on her head. "Will he be alright?" she inquired.

"The medicine I gave him will help him control his episodes, but it won't keep him from getting any worse—his heart was very weak...and as old as he is, trying to sail a ship—let alone live a pirates' life..." Chopper revealed with a heavy sigh.

"Will you stop worrying, the old goat-man said he wanted to be a pirate, so let's let him be one" Luffy huffed as he joined in on the two's conversation. "Besides, once the old man sets out to sea, he may find an island that has a cure for his illness and then everything will be fine."

"That's some positive thinking you've got there, it's refreshing" I smiled, gaze softening as I once more found myself reminded by my twin and how he would always try to look on the bright side of things despite how difficult it could be.

"I guess so..." Chopper mumbled as he mulled over what Luffy said.

"I don't think we have much to worry about, that old guy isn't going to croak that easily" Zoro spoke up, finally deciding to join in on the conversation as well. "Maybe he does have a weak heart, but he also has plenty of guts to make up for it" he smiled as he looked up at me from where his head rested on my lap. I returned his smile with an even bigger one, giggling whenever I would occasionally catch sight of the bandage on the back of his head peeking through his hair.

"Still can't believe you somehow ended up being hit by the ship" I chuckled, listening to him grumble as he looked away in slight embarrassment.

"Zoro's right, Chopper, we'll see Zenny again" Luffy reassured.

"You bet?" Chopper smile.

"We'll be waiting for you, Zenny Pirates!" the two shouted, causing my smile to widen even more as I tilted my head back and peered up at the sky.
