-Chapter Eighty-Six-

"Henzo!" Rapanui cried.

"Rapanui!" Henzo sobbed, reaching his hand out toward the boy who soon did the same, but before either of them could shake hands, Luffy suddenly flew by. Ramming straight into the blond and taking him with him through the air.

"Sorry!" the rubber man shouted back at us before he got too far away.

"Luffy!" Usopp frowned.

"Idiot! What do you think you're doing interrupting such a tender moment like that?!" I snapped.

"Luffy! Dumbass!" Zoro groaned in irritation.

"It shouldn't be a problem, the inside of the mist loops, remember?" Robin reminded us. "They'll be back here any moment now" she reassured us as we now patiently waited in silence for their return. "Or maybe not..." she muttered after a few minutes of nothing happening.

"Yeah, I don't think they're coming back" I said, peering up at the sky and still not seeing either of them.

"Yeah, now what?" Zoro and Usopp asked.

"Now we look—there's no telling what could happen in the mist" Henzo stated.

"The worst that could have happened is that they landed in the water, and even then, that wouldn't really be a problem" I said.

"True" Usopp nodded in agreement. "They most likely crash-landed onto one of the broken-down ships" he suggested.

"Exactly, we don't really have much to worry about" I hummed. "We should be able to find them in no time" I reasoned.

"That idiot's more trouble than he's worth..." Zoro grumbled.

"Please be alright..." Isoka worriedly whispered before looking up at me as I rested a delicate hand on her shoulder.

"Don't worry, I'm sure they'll be just fine" I softly smiled, watching as she nodded while giving me a small smile in return.

-Later-

"Usopp, you find anything?" Zoro asked as he and I climbed back up onto the ship.

"No, I didn't see a sign of them anywhere" Usopp shook his head.

"Really? We didn't find much either while searching the surrounding area" I said.

"It is possible that the two of them were flung very far?" Henzo speculated. "Enough to be beyond the mist...?" he pondered aloud.

"But...what's that mean? Rapanui, is he not here anymore?" Akibi worriedly asked.

"Quite possibly" Henzo answered.

"Oh no!" Isoka gasped, already on the verge of crying.

"Are you trying to tell us that it's possible they shot themselves out of the mist?" I questioned, raising an eyebrow.

"Hey, you guys!" before the old man could respond, he was suddenly interrupted by Nami's voice calling out to us.

"Oh, Nami—hi" Zoro greeted the minute he saw her rowing toward us.

"What do you mean, "Oh, Nami?" Could you sound less excited?" Nami frowned. "And after I came all the way here to rescue you, how rude" she huffed.

"Yeah, so sweet of you to come here and rescue us and not for any other reason" I sarcastically responded, sweat dropping upon seeing the large amount of treasure in her small rowboat.

"Oh yeah, you do seem terribly broken up about it" Usopp deadpanned as the ginger climbed aboard the Going Merry.

"Don't mind me" she said as she got on deck. "Hey...uh...who are all these children anyways? And where did Luffy run off to this time?" she frowned. "You all look kind of upset, what happened?" she asked when she saw the sad expressions on everyone's faces.

"Well, he went beyond the mist" Usopp sadly answered.

"Huh?" Nami questioned.

"Like I said, they're not here anymore and we can't find them either" he sighed.

"What's this gibber jabber?" Nami frowned, already becoming annoyed by the ambiguous answers she was receiving.

"Exactly what he said, you weren't here so there's no real way to explain it to you, but they've gone beyond the mist" Zoro repeated for the sharpshooter.

"Okay, we'll withdrawal" Nami said, causing the two men to freak out.

"Are you crazy?!" Zoro snapped.

"Have you forgotten about, Luffy?!" Usopp shouted.

"Yeah, I don't think it's a good idea to just leave—what if he's actually still in here?" I frowned.

"I don't know what happened, but what are the chances that he's dead? He can handle it—just leave him be" Nami waved as she looked down at her boat of treasures. "Come on, we're heading back" she motioned, her mind clearly preoccupied with something else.

"So you found a way for us to escape from here?" Robin asked.

"Kind of, yeah" Nami nodded, not really sounding all that confident.

"How?" I inquired.

"With this" she said, holding up the rope that was tied around her.

"It's rope..." Usopp muttered. "Aw, come on!" he groaned.

"I mean, I guess getting pulled out of the mist with some rope is a viable option" I said.

"So you're the new one that came from Ruluka, huh?" a new voice suddenly piped up.

"Huh?" we questioned, startled by the new presence.

"Ian!" Isoka frowned as a young man came out onto the deck of the broken-down warship, already having a tight hold on Rongo as if he planned to use the boy as a hostage.

"And he's who?" Zoro asked, moving a bit in front of me as if to take a protective stance once he saw that this new presence wasn't exactly a friendly one.

"He's a Wetton crony" Akibi frowned.

"One of Wetton's men, huh? So what's he doing here?" Usopp asked as the man just aboard our ship.

"He's certainly not here for a friendly chat, that's for sure" I scowled, lips drawing back into a disgruntled sneer upon seeing just how quick the man was to pull such an undermining trick like taking a mere child as hostage.

"Why don't you hand that rope over to me, girly" Ian said, motioning for Nami to give him the rope wrapped around her.

"But why? If you're looking for a way to get yourself out of the Rainbow Mist, then you can just come with us" Nami pointed out, confused by the man's need to take the rope and leave us behind instead of just simply working with us.

"Don't you care about what happens to this little boy?" Ian asked, now holding a gun to the blonde's head with the silent promise to pull the trigger should the ginger not do as he says.

"Why should I?" Nami asked.

"Nami!" I frowned, taken aback by the ginger's blunt response. "Surely you're not that heartless!"

"What?" Nami glared.

"Nami, he's a child!" I snapped.

"Really?" Ian questioned, clearly taken aback after realizing what Nami had said to him—her response clearly something he wasn't expecting.

"I don't know who he is anyway, and I'm not really nice enough to help some little kid I've never seen before" Nami argued, turning away from me and the man with an annoyed huff.

"W-what" I sputtered. "You can't be serious? You'd just let a child die?!" I scowled, already getting ready to storm over to the ginger only to be stopped by Zoro's arm.

"Calm down, this is Nami we're talking about—she must have a plan or something..." he muttered into my ear in an attempt to calm me down. "You don't really think she'd leave a child to die, do you?" he asked.

"No, but…" I trailed off before turning away with a huff as I lowly grumbled to myself.

"Well yeah, I can't argue with you there..." Ian muttered, already agreeing with Nami's logic for a minute before coming to his senses. "Wait a second, what are you saying?! I'll shoot the boy, I'm not kidding!" he snapped.

"Murderer!" Rongo cried out when it appeared to all of us that Nami really wasn't going to do anything which in return caused Zoro and I to quickly grab hold of our swords.

"Come on, please help him!" Isoka begged.

"Don't be silly, what do you mean?" Nami asked before jolting when Isoka suddenly drew out a small dagger and pointed it at the navigator.

"H-hey, easy..." Usopp nervously held his hands up in defense as he took a step back and away from the small girl who was now visibly starting to shake.

"I don't want to lose any more of my friends, so please, just do what he's asking lady!" she begged.

"Good decision, Isoka—now why don't you go ahead and attach that lifeline to the boat there" Ian grinned as he made his way past all of us and onto the small rowboat Nami had brought with her. "Now, why don't you come along with me, Isoka? With all this treasure, we'll never have to work again as long as we live" he suddenly offered.

"You don't get it, do you?" Isoka frowned. "Rapanui is the only leader that we'll ever have and I have no intention of following some jackass like you!" she sneered.

"What?" Ian clenched his jaw, clearly ticked off by the girl's attitude before grunting in pain when Rongo suddenly head-butted his crotch.

"Runaway, Isoka!" Rongo shouted.

"Brat!" Ian growled, snatching up the back of Rongo's shirt and throwing him into the water.

"Rongo!" Isoka gasped, leaning over the side of the boat as she got ready to dive in after the blond.

"You're not going anywhere" Ian snickered, pointing his gun right at the young girl as if to silently tell her he'd shoot if she jumped.

"Hey!" I snapped.

"Leave her alone!" Usopp frowned just as multiple arms suddenly sprouted around Ian and held him down.

"Dammit! Stop that—let me go!" he angrily demanded, struggling against the arms before eventually losing his footing as he fell to the floor of the boat while Isoka dived straight into the water to retrieve Rongo.

"Hey, what happened?" Zoro quickly asked when Robin suddenly dropped to the ground.

"Hey, you okay?" I worriedly asked, bending down as I placed a gentle hand on her shoulder and started to look her over for any wounds.
