-Chapter Ninety-Four-
"Bad day, huh?" Robin asked as Nami angrily stormed up the stairs.
"It's only going to get worse working with these guys—we'll never figure out how that ship sailed to the sky!" Nami grumpily huffed. "I'm going to snap on them any second now" she growled.
"Maybe this will help" Robin said as she held out an Eternal Pose.
"An Eternal Pose? But how?" Nami frowned as she quickly snatched the compass out of the older woman's hand.
"Oh, I took it off that salvage ship earlier, just in case" Robin answered.
"You, and I guess sometimes Skylar, are the only ones I can depend on" Nami sniffed, smiling as she started to cry tears of joy.
"Alright, who's up for an octopus dinner tonight?" Luffy grinned as he held up the octopus from earlier.
"I know I am..." I grumbled as I walked up the stairs to join Nami and Robin, rubbing at the few suction marks that were still left on my face.
"That boy has got to learn to relax" Robin said.
"I don't think that's even possible for someone like Luffy" I snorted.
"Jaya? This must have been their homeport" Nami guessed as she studied the Eternal Pose closer.
"Jaya? Is that where we're going next?" Luffy asked, now hanging off the top railing as he ate the freshly cooked octopus.
"Damn, Sanji works fast" I whistled when I saw the food.
"That would be your decision, captain!" Nami snippily snapped.
"All hands on deck! Set our course to Jaya!" Luffy ordered as he hopped back down onto the deck. "So...uh...do any of you know which direction that might be?" he asked.
"Starboard" Nami answered.
"You heard her, Chopper" Luffy grinned.
"Right!" the reindeer nodded.
"Onward to Jaya!" the captain cheered.
"Now hold on just a minute—if we head off to this Jaya place that's so important, wouldn't the Log Pose needle change its position again?" Usopp questioned through a mouthful of food. "Because if that happens, we won't know which direction Sky Island is" he pointed out as he swallowed.
"All hands full stop!" Luffy shouted. "Want to tell me why you're messing with my head, Nami?!" he frowned.
"I'm not!" Nami snapped. "You're the genius who decided we should go to Jaya!" she scowled.
"Oh yeah, that's right" Luffy nodded. "Well, I didn't know it would ruin our plans to get to Skypiea" he childishly huffed.
"It's not my fault you have the memory of a goldfish..." Nami grumbled. "Think, the Log Pose has always worked that way—hasn't it?" she asked.
"Yeah, I guess so" Luffy hummed in thought, quick to realize that the ginger was right. "Hey, listen up, I have an important announcement to make! Seeing as I'm the captain, I say we set our course to Skypiea!" he ordered.
"How do you propose we get there?" Nami asked.
"We're going to have to ask for some directions" Usopp piped up.
"That's obvious" I said.
"Maybe someone in Jaya would know the way" Luffy suggested.
"Very well, Jaya it is" Nami nodded.
"Right! Onto Jaya!" the captain ordered.
"You've already said that!" Usopp snapped, hitting Luffy.
"So basically no real change in course" I said.
"Basically" Nami sighed.
"I doubt the needle would change as soon as we get there, so why don't we pull into port and leave before it has a chance to adjust" Robin suggested.
"Sounds good to me, if we're lucky it'll work" Nami smiled.
"That sounds like a plan to us" Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper agreed.
"Full sail to Jaya, people! This time it's for real!" Luffy grinned.
"Now stop stuffing your faces and get to work!" Nami snapped as we started to scramble around.
"I wonder what this Jaya place is like, I hope it's relaxing" Chopper wondered out loud.
"That would be nice" I agreed.
"Nami, my sweet! Robin, my dear! Skylar, my darling! Dinner is served this afternoon!" Sanji called as he poked his head out of the kitchen.
-Later-
"I keep wondering what Jaya is like" Chopper suddenly confessed out of the blue.
"That's natural since none of us have ever been to this place before" I said, boredly drawing patterns on Zoro's hand with my finger.
"I heard it's called the Land of Meat" Luffy grinned.
"And where did you hear that? In your dreams?" I sweat dropped.
"You don't know that Luffy, you're just wishing it was true because we've been eating the same old junk for days" Usopp frowned.
"If you don't like it, then don't eat it—this is for Robin, Nami, and Skylar anyways" Sanji scowled as he snatched away Usopp, Luffy, and Chopper's plates of food.
"Hey!" the three snapped as they chased after the blond.
"What did you think was going to happen when you insulted his cooking right to his face?" I raised an eyebrow as the four now ran around the deck.
"I can't even imagine it" Zoro suddenly sighed as he tilted his head back and stared up at the sky.
"Imagine what?" I asked.
"Can there really be an island in the sky?" he asked, looking toward me as if I knew the answer.
"I don't know, maybe" I shrugged, not really knowing the answer to his question.
"We've experienced enough to know the answer by now" Robin said from beside us. "See, no matter how strange or illogical something may seem to us. Out there in the sea, logic can make anything possible" she smiled.
-Later-
"See anything, Usopp?!" Luffy called up to the sharpshooter who was currently up in the crow's nest keeping watch.
"Nothing! Just the sky and sea!" he called back.
"I thought that this Jaya island wasn't too far from where we are" Zoro said.
"It shouldn't be," Nami shook her head, "and with the weather being so clear, we should have spotted the coastline over an hour ago."
"You sure about that? Perhaps it's farther than we expected" I said.
"No, I'm pretty sure I'm right" she frowned.
"I'm going to like Jaya if it's as warm as it is now" Luffy suddenly commented.
"I'm finally getting to work on my tan" Chopper smiled, causing me to giggle. "Spring weather is the best! It looks like the seagulls are enjoying it too" he brightly remarked as a few seagulls flew by. Though his smile faded when two of the seagulls suddenly fell from the sky and onto the deck. "They've been shot!" he screeched.
"Looks like we'll be eating good tonight" Luffy grinned, oblivious to what had just happened as Chopper frantically rushed over to the birds.
"I don't think they could have been shot, Chopper" Usopp disagreed. "I didn't hear any gunfire" he said.
"I found a bullet and judging from the trajectory, it came from that way" the reindeer said, pointing off in a direction that was nothing more than vast sea.
"Are you saying the shots came from an island we can't even see yet?" Nami questioned, walking over to the reindeer. "That's impossible, Chopper" she frowned.
"But I saw it happen with my own eyes!" Chopper defended.
"A tuna had a better chance of killing them, no sniper gun has that kind of range" Usopp said. "They were probably shot before and just happened to fall now" he assumed.
"I have to agree with Usopp on this, whoever shot at them must have missed the heart and allowed them to get away" I nodded. "This isn't something new, it happens a lot of times if the shot isn't exact" I said before heaving a sigh as I looked down at the dead birds. "Poor fellas, who knows what kind of pain they were in before finally kicking the bucket" I frowned.
"See" Usopp said as Chopper looked between us before finally sighing as his shoulders drooped and he nodded in reluctant agreement.
"Sanji, look! We found our dinner!" Luffy happily shouted as he held up the two dead birds. After that, everything went back to normal as everyone returned to what they had been doing before. I boredly hung off the ship's railing and stared down at the ocean—watching as the water gently lapped against the bottom of the ship as we sailed onward. I felt my eyelids start to droop and it wasn't much longer before I began to doze off.
"Awesome—check it out! This town looks great!" I flinched as I grabbed hold of the ship's railing and bolted upright, startled by Luffy's sudden laughter.
"Is it just me or does this place look like a resort?" Usopp questioned once we got closer to the island.
"It sure does" Chopper agreed.
