-Chapter Ninety-Five-

"Hurry up and dock!" Luffy impatiently demanded.

"It does look promising, maybe we can even stay here awhile" Nami smiled, seemingly pleased with such a thought.

"Either I'm starting to hallucinate or that harbor is full of pirate ships" Usopp suddenly pointed out.

"What's with the animal theme?" I questioned, staring at the strange decorations on each of the ships that were docked at the harbor.

"Don't be silly, Usopp, since when can pirates dock their ships in a harbor without being run out of town?" Nami laughed, lightly smacking the sharpshooter's shoulder.

"You're right, it must be a joke!" he laughed as well.

"Someone help! He's going to kill me!" we heard a man desperately scream from the shore.

"What's going on with this crazy town?!" Usopp, Nami, and Chopper fearfully cried.

"What a pathetic weakling!" we heard another man mockingly laugh as we sailed further and further away until we were eventually far enough from the scene that we could no longer hear it.

"Well, the people here seem nice" I smiled as Nami, Usopp, and Chopper clung to one another, violently trembling at what they had just witnessed.

"Now this looks like my kind of town!" Luffy grinned, instantly hopping off the ship the moment we docked.

"We'll have no problem fitting in here" Zoro agreed as he followed the captain's lead.

"Aren't you going with them?" Nami asked, raising an eyebrow as she looked toward me.

"Nah, I'd rather stay on the ship" I shook my head, not really interested to go exploring an island we weren't even planning to stay on for that long.

"You sure? I mean, wouldn't you rather spend some quality time with your man?" she teased with a grin.

"He's not my man..." I embarrassingly grumbled, cheeks now dusted a light pink. "Besides, it's not like we don't already spend enough time together here on the ship" I remarked, reminding her of Zoro and mine's tendency to hang around one another on the ship. If we weren't off on our own talking to the other or doing something else, we usually were together talking or simply enjoying each other's company.

"Yeah, well I'd feel comfortable if you went with them" she truthfully admitted.

"Why?" I raised an eyebrow.

"For one, you handle them a lot better, and two, because we both know they won't be able to last an hour here without causing some sort of trouble " she answered.

"Hm, you're right" I hummed in thought. "But we both know they'd still get in trouble even if I went with them" I grinned, watching as she huffed and crossed her arms once she realized that she didn't really have an argument there.

"Well by the looks of this place, I'd say fifteen minutes would be a generous assumption" Usopp said.

"Nah, I'd give them at least ten" I shook my head. "Maybe less."

"You really think so?" Nami frowned. "I better go with them then if Skylar won't" and with that, she hopped off the ship and ran after the two.

"Nami!" Usopp shouted.

"Luffy, Zoro, wait for me! I'm coming too!" she called out to the two.

"There she goes" Chopper worriedly frowned.

"No worries, I'm sure she'll be fine with those two protecting her" Usopp assured us.

"I'm the only one who can protect Nami!" Sanji suddenly growled, ready to jump off the ship and race after the three before quickly being stopped by Usopp and Chopper.

"Sanji, Nami will be safe and sound with Luffy and Zoro! But if you leave, what are we supposed to do if the ship is attacked?!" Usopp cried.

"Don't leave us—who's going to protect us?!" Chopper whimpered.

"Yeah, who's going to protect us" I echoed, grinning as I watched how the two practically clung to the blond like their life depended on it.

"Fine, but only because Skylar's still here—I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if something happened to her precious little head" Sanji huffed, gaze softening as he looked at me. "I'll stay behind, but let me go" his gaze instantly hardened back up the second he looked back down at the two that were clinging to him. "I'll whip up some tea and hold down the fort then—where did Robin go?" he asked as he finally noticed that the older woman was nowhere to be seen.

"I don't know..." Chopper quietly answered.

"Perhaps she went out to gather some information herself on Sky Island" I suggested.

"That's a wonderful guess, Skylar!" Sanji cooed, his attitude doing a complete one-eighty as he turned to me.

"Yeah..." I sweat dropped, nodding in agreement despite knowing that my guess was nothing short of the bare minimum that any of us could have come up with.

"Sanji, about that tea" Usopp nervously laughed as the blonde's attitude did another one-eighty as he turned and walked away.

"Make it yourself" was his gruff response as he disappeared into the kitchen.

"There, there" I laughed, patting the sharpshooter's back when I saw the deflated and almost irritated look on his face.

-Later-

"Board" Usopp said.

"Board" Chopper repeated as he handed the sharpshooter a plank of wood before the process repeated. Hanging over the railing, I boredly watched as the two tried to fix up the ship to their best abilities.

"Careful" I warned before wincing as I heard Usopp scream in pain upon accidentally smashing his thumb with the hammer.

"Thanks for the heads up!" he snapped, eyebrows furrowed as he cradled his aching finger.

"What? I said to be careful" I innocently defended, causing him to grumble.

"Seriously, I know I say this all the time, but the one thing that I'm not is a ship repairman" he irritably huffed.

"But you're good at doing this sort of thing, Usopp" Chopper praised.

"I know, it's quite amazing—I'm an incredible person!" Usopp proudly boasted, quick to do a one-eighty as he puffed out his chest.

"Chopper, don't feed his ego" I said. "The repairs may be good, but they won't last long with how sloppy they look" I remarked.

"You think you can do better?!" Usopp snapped.

"No" I deadpanned. "Look, they don't blend in with the rest of the boards—it's obvious to tell that whoever did the repairs didn't know what they were doing and just sloppily hammered a bunch of boards on at random" I pointed out to him. "Usopp, we should—"

"Don't say it" he frowned, cutting me off before I could finish my sentence.

"I say we trash this and buy a new ship instead" Sanji bluntly said, basically finishing my sentence for me..only he said it in a much harsher way, causing the sharpshooter to clench his jaw as he harshly glared at the blond.

"Are you out of your mind? You have any idea how we got our hands on this ship?!" he glowered.

"Yeah, yeah, I've heard it a thousand times before—it was given to you by the most gorgeous girl in your village, right?" Sanji questioned. "Who cares? It's just plain dangerous to keep relying on a ship in this condition" he frowned.

"That's why I'm repairing it, idiot—now get down here and give us a hand..." Usopp grumbled.

"Repairs, huh? This?" Sanji kicked at one of the boards, watching how it shuddered at the force. "It won't hold like sweet Skylar here was saying earlier."

"Bite me!" Usopp snapped.

"That face is hilarious, Usopp!" Chopper laughed.

"Oh, you mean this one?" the sharpshooter asked as he repeated what he had just done. Keeping the face as he swayed in place, causing Chopper to burst out into a giggling fit. I softly smiled down at the two before looking at Sanji.

"Don't you think you were a bit harsh with your critique of the ship? I know it's not going to last long, but you know how Usopp feels about it" I whispered so the two down below wouldn't hear.

"I meant what I said, we need a new ship—you've seen his repairs, they're not going to last long..." Sanji muttered.

"I know, but..." I uncomfortably shifted, looking down. "What if we found a shipwright? Perhaps the ship can be saved" I hopefully said.

"Perhaps..." the blond mumbled in thought as he patted the top of my head before looking back down at Usopp and Chopper. "What a couple of idiots—you guys have any ideas about dinner?" he asked.

"Bite me!" Usopp and Chopper shouted up at him.

"Fine, no food for you" Sanji said, already walking away. "I better check to see how that seagull soup is doing...I wonder if I could use the feathers as a garnish..." he mumbled to himself before suddenly stopping halfway up the stairs upon hearing the sound of a whistle. "Huh? There's something strange about that ship" he remarked upon spotting a ship in the distance sailing this way.

"Yeah, that décor looks somewhat familiar" I said the closer the ship got.

"I know that song" Usopp and Chopper shivered as their jaws slowly dropped in horror.

-Later-

"Hey!" I brightened upon spying Luffy, Zoro, and Nami coming back only to quickly frown and lower my waving hand when I finally noticed the sour look on the ginger's face and just how badly roughed up the two men following her looked.

"Luffy, Zoro, what happened? Why are you bleeding?" Usopp asked.

"Are you alright?" I worriedly frowned.

"Nami! Oh no—are you alright?!" Sanji asked, quick to rush to the woman's side while simultaneously ignoring the two that were actually hurt.

"Doctor!" Chopper cried.

"You're the doctor! Go check them out already!" Usopp snapped, hitting the reindeer.

"Don't hit him!" I scolded, striking the back of the sharpshooter's head and causing him to wince.

"Ow! Right!" Chopper nodded as he set to work in patching up the two men.

"So what happened to you guys? It looks like you were mauled by a pack of wolves" Usopp said, rubbing the back of his head.

"It was pirates, but we're okay—just some scratches" Luffy answered.

"Of course..." I heaved a sigh, not the least bit surprised that they had gotten into a fight with another group of pirates.

"Yeah" Zoro nodded before wincing when I suddenly flicked his forehead. "What was that for?!" he scowled.

"For being reckless, you dummy" I huffed, pulling him into a tight hug. With a soft huff of his own, he gently smiled as he wrapped an arm around me and patted my back as if to silently assure me he was alright.
