The morning after the news of Bellatrix's death broke, Barty Crouch Jr, was filled with an insane passion.

With Lucius driven out of the country and Severus and Bellatrix both now dead, he saw an opportunity to become Lord Voldemort's most beloved servant.

Upon waking up, still wearing the invisibility cloak his father always forced him to keep on, Barty Crouch Jr. remained lying on his bed and muttering to himself.

"If I can be the one who returns the Dark Lord to power, I will be honored by him beyond the dreams of wizards. I will prove myself to himself. It is my dearest dream, the deepest and most desperate desire of my heart to receive my master's ultimate approval. I shall risk everything for him if it proves necessary. The Dark Lord doesn't waste time on those who are gone or expired. Lucius, Severus, and Bellatrix are by the by now and the Dark Lord will simply move on from them. I will become the Dark Lord's new favorite. I will be his most faithful and devoted servant. My master was last rumored to be hiding in a forest in Albania. I must find my master and return him to power. When the Dark Lord returns and the Dark Order rises, my master will honor me beyond anyone's wildest dreams."

Unfortunately for Barty Crouch Jr., Winky, who always stood by Barty Crouch Jr. day and night and who also had excellent hearing, heard every syllable that Barty Crouch Jr. had said since waking up. Winky now used her own powerful magic to bind Barty Crouch Jr. to her and apparated them both into the office of the Head of the Department of Magical Law Enforcement, Amelia Bones, at the Ministry of Magic.

"Winky?" gasped Amelia, "To what do I owe this pleasure? Barty Crouch's house elf visiting me today?"

"Madam Bones," cried Winky urgently, "Winky has a bad wizard with him. There is a bad wizard who intends to seek out Lord Voldemort and return him to power."

"Who?' asked Amelia calmly.

In response, Winky, while keeping Barty Crouch Jr. binded to her, removed his invisibility cloak.

"Barty Crouch Jr?" cried a startled Amelia, "He's supposed to be dead?"

"When I've found my master and returned him to power, " declared Barty Crouch Jr. fiercely, "I will be honored by him bey-"

"Silencio!" cried Amelia, raising her wand in her wand and pointing it at Barty Crouch Jr, forcing him to shut up.

"Winky, what do you know about Jr's continued existence?" asked Amelia urgently.

"Master Barty snuck his son out of Azkaban years ago, " explained Winky earnestly, "Master Barty's wife knew she was dying. She asked Master Barty to rescue Jr. from Azkaban as a last favor to her. During a visit to Azkaban, Master Barty's wife and son exchanged Polyjuice Potion and took on each other's appearances. Master Barty's wife was very careful to continue drinking Polyjuice Potion until she died. She was buried under Jr's name and with his appearance. Master Barty then staged his wife's death. Master Barty did realize that Jr. was still loyal to the Dark Lord. Master Barty put Jr. under the Imperius Curse to subdue him and forced him to always wear an invisibility cloak. There were times when it was clear to Winky that Jr. was very interested in certain news, such as when Lucius was forced to leave the country and when Severus died. But Winky thinks the death of Bellatrix Lestrange has lit a fire under Jr. It seems like Jr. now thinks he can become the Dark Lord's most faithful and beloved servant. When Jr. woke up this morning, Winky heard him muttering about finding his master and returning him to power and how he would be honored beyond his dreams by his master when he did so."

"You did the right thing by bringing him to me Winky," said Amelia approvingly, "It is very important that Barty Crouch Jr. NOT seek out and find Lord Voldemort."

Next nanosecond, Amelia conjured a pair of handcuffs and requested, "Winky, I know I am not your mistress and cannot give you orders. However, I request that you please keep Barty Crouch Jr. bonded to you while I arrest him and transfer him to a Ministry Holding Cell. Winky, once I've locked him in the Ministry Holding Cell, yo may disapparate. While attempting to disapparate from a Ministry Holding Cell will kill a person, it is safe for house elves to disapparate from them."

"Yes, Madam, " said Winky.

Amelia arrested Barty Crouch Jr. and locked him in one of the Ministry Holding Cells. Winky disapparated out, and Amelia said, "Firing was just the beginning for Barty Crouch. I'm going to be arresting him as well and he's going to have to face justice for his crime of facilitating the escape of a known Death Eater and dangerous dark wizard. "

"Winky can go fetch him if Madam Bones would like," offered Winky.

"Please do," asked Amelia.

Winky disapparated and returned a minute and a nanosecond later with Barty Crouch Sr.

Not hesitating, Amelia immediately handcuffed him and said, "You are under arrest for facilitating the escape of Barty Crouch Jr, a known Dark Wizard and Death Eater, from Azkaban."

The senior Crouch looked stunned and didn't say a word as Amelia locked him into a Ministry Holding Cell as well Barty Crouch Sr. came quietly and did not resist at all.

"Well, " sighed Amelia wearily, "I'll have to sort out what happens next with these two."
