-Chapter One Hundred and One-

"He's absolutely right, she's worthless" Cricket agreed. "Even brand new that wreck wouldn't stand a chance" he scoffed.

"Say what?" Usopp narrowed his eyes as his face flushed with anger.

"Speed, weight, strength—the explosion would blow that ship to pieces before it had the chance to get airborne" the man clarified.

"Yeah, see—it's useless..." Usopp sighed as he instantly deflated, not really having the energy to stay mad.

"But, don't worry, I think I could help you out there" Cricket suddenly offered. "I'll have Masira and Shoujou do a complete refit of your ship—I'll also have them reinforce the superstructure to withstand the strength" he grinned.

"You bet! Don't worry, guys, we are all over it!" Masira and Shoujou happily proclaimed as they stuck themselves out the window of the house and waved.

"Thanks, fellows!" Luffy waved right back at the two.

"Thank you, we appreciate it!" I laughed as I happily waved alongside the captain.

"Yeah, thanks a lot..." Nami and Usopp grumbled, not the least bit happy about any of this.

"Have you really thought about this?" Nami asked as she looked at Luffy.

"What?" he blinked, curiously tilting his head.

"Well about...oh yeah, about the fact that we can only stay one more day on this island, or did that slip your mind?!" Nami snapped as she showed him the Log Pose. "After that, the Log Pose will lock onto the next island location and we'll have to move on" she frowned.

"That's right! That's right—we've got to move on!" Usopp excitedly laughed. "Hey, old man," he called over to Cricket, "I realize you're not a fortune teller and you probably don't have the vaguest idea, but how many days will it be 'til the next time the Knock Up Stream lines up with the Cumulorgalis?" he eagerly asked. "Or better yet, how many weeks or months or years or centuries? Take your time, I'm in no hurry—can I lend you an abacus?"

"It'll be around noon tomorrow, so you better get ready" Cricket calmly responded.

"Wait a minute! You mean we can make it?!" Usopp shouted, eyes widening in a mix of shock and horror.

"Oh, how convenient" I smiled.

"You're telling me..." Nami grumbled, resting her forehead against my shoulder as her own slumped downwards in slight despair. Chuckling, I gently patted the back of her head.

"Afraid so—if you're scared, don't go" Cricket simply suggested as he turned away and started to head back in with the rest of us quick to follow.

"You're lying" we halted, curiously looking toward Usopp after he made his bold claim. "There's something fishy about this—we've known you for less than twenty-four hours, why are you being so helpful?" he frowned. "And what's more—"

"Now hold on, Usopp" Luffy butted in, walking toward the sharpshooter, only to stop when Usopp held out his arm to block his path.

"You hold up 'til I'm finished!" he snapped, not allowing the rubber man to get another word in. "This Sky Island—this legendary place we don't even know the location of is just going to show up out of the blue at noon tomorrow?" he glared, a skeptical look on his face. "And to help us get there, you are going to rebuild and reinforce our ship for nothing? When something looks too good to be true, it probably is" he frowned. "Even if this liar, Noland, is your great, great, great grand—whatever!

"Right, so how do we know we can trust you?" he asked.

"Hey, old man, soups on! Come and get it while it's hot!" Marisa and Shoujou shouted as they threw the back door open and poked their heads out.

"Move it!" Sanji growled as he squeezed past the two. "Nami—" he cut himself off when he noticed just how thick the tension was surrounding us all.

"What is it? You want to fight me?" Usopp frowned as Cricket silently stared down at him.

"Masira said whenever the midday night occurs in this area, a Cumulorgalis cloud appears in the southern sky the next day" Cricket explained as he approached the sharpshooter. "Based on its usual cycle of five appearances a month, I'm guessing the Knock Up Stream will also erupt in midday—that will probably also be to the south. I can't be one hundred percent certain, but there's a good chance the two events will collide" he said as he calmly walked past the young man. "I'm proud to have met a bunch of brave fools like you, you're true pirates—now then, let's go inside and eat. Tonight, I want you to call my home your home, my friends."

"Come on, Usopp! It's chow time!" Luffy laughed as the tension in the air instantly dissipated.

"Yeah, come on, you guys!" Masira grinned as we once again started to make our way toward the house.

"Chopper, go get Robin" Sanji ordered.

"You bet!" Chopper nodded as he scampered off to find and retrieve the raven-haired woman from wherever she was.

"It looks like we're going to Sky Island, whether we're ready or not" Nami heavily sighed. "Well, let's just hope our luck continues to hold..." she muttered as I comfortingly patted her back.

"Don't worry, like I said, we still got a one out of a hundred-percent chance of success" I grinned.

"Yeah, and a ninety-nine percent chance of failure, that's a comforting thought..." she grumbled, rolling her eyes.

"I know" I softly chuckled.

"Nami, Skylar, do you think I'm a spineless little coward?" Usopp suddenly asked, catching our attention.

"I mean..." I scratched my cheek.

"You forgot to mention idiot," Nami teasingly added, "and I know how you feel—now why don't you go and apologize" she smiled as she motioned towards Cricket.

"It's the least you could do after accusing him of malicious intent" I said as the ginger nodded in agreement.

"I'm sorry, old-timer!" Usopp wailed as he ran and rammed himself right into the old man's back—tightly wrapping his arms around his waist just as he started to cry.

"What are you doing? Don't wipe that nose on me—it's disgusting!" Cricket snapped as he tried to pry the young man off of him.

-Later-

"Come over here, buddy! Dance with me!" Luffy laughed as he happily danced.

"Oh yeah, keep it coming—that really hits the spot!" Cricket grinned, tilting his head back as he downed another cup.

"Eat up, everyone! I'm just getting started—there's plenty more on the way!" Sanji smiled.

"Here" Usopp said, handing something over to Masira that I couldn't quite see. Whatever it was, it had the monkey spitting up fire. "Got you! Oh yeah, it was hot sauce!" the sharpshooter laughed before bolting from his spot as he was now chased around the room by the infuriated primate.

"Come here, you!" Masira growled followed by a series of profanities.

"Hey there good looking, want to sit next to me?" Cricket drunkenly flirted the moment he spotted Nami.

"Whoa, shift down a gear there, old man—you're about a hundred years too old to be hitting on Nami" Sanji scowled as he placed his foot on the man's face and pushed him away from the ginger. I snorted before continuing to eat, gaze mindlessly wandering over in Zoro's direction as I silently watched as he and Shoujou downed their drinks at the same time, faces flushed only a little as they smiled.

'Seems like everyone's enjoying themselves' I gently smiled before blinking when a cup was suddenly thrust in front of me.

"Try some, it's good" Zoro grinned, shaking the cup he was offering and causing its contents to splash around. Judging by the smell, it was very clearly some type of alcohol.

"Nah, I'm good—not much of a drinker" I rejected with a lopsided smile as I pushed the cup away before taking a sip of my water.

"Have you ever really drunk before?" he curiously asked, raising an eyebrow as he pulled back with a shrug and started to down the cup he had been offering me.

"I have" I hummed in thought. "Sora and I once stole some from the restaurant out of curiosity a few years back—wasn't much of a fan, too bitter for my taste" I confessed as my nose scrunched up a little at the memory. "Now Sora, on the other hand, drank almost the whole thing before deciding he hated it—turns out he's not a big fan of morning hangovers" I reminisced with a soft smile as I looked down.

"That so?" he muttered, gaze softening as a gentle smile tugged at his lips. "Got any more stories you want to share?" he asked, comfortably leaning back on his arm as I hummed in thought. Silently trying to recall any other good memories that I could possibly share with him.

"Hm, well—"

"The skull's right eye" just those four words were enough to cause everyone to fall silent as we now directed our attention toward Cricket. He was leaning over close to Robin who had been quietly reading Noland's Log Book this entire time. "That's where I saw the gold" he continued.

"Gold?" Nami perked up.

"Those words smeared with tears are the last ones Noland wrote in his Log Book, "The skull's right eye that's where I saw the gold," that very same day, Noland was executed—I still don't know what he meant by that" Cricket confessed. "Does it refer to the name of the city or some landmark that used to exist on the island or is it just some poetical illusion to his own impending death?" he pondered. "The blank pages as follows give us no clue and that's the reason we continue to dive to the bottom of the sea, we dream."

"Hooray for us!" Masira cheered as Zoro and Shoujou clinked their cups together.

"We're going to go flying!" Luffy cheered as he continued to shovel more food into his mouth.

"Not if you keep eating like that, we won't!" Usopp joked, causing everyone in the room to burst out laughing.

"Log entry for May 21st to November 22nd—today I arrived on Jaya" Cricket started to read from the Log Book. "Shortly after making landfall, we were startled by the peculiar cries of some strange bird from deep in the forest as well as the tolling of what seemed to be enormous bells" he continued, all of us now silently gathered around him to listen to the tales that were recorded in the Log Book. "The ringing of that golden bell resounded far and wide as if announcing some great prophecies and city of the past. Its fleeting echoes the only reminder that this land was once home to a mighty civilization" everyone was comfortable, whether it be from listening to the words Cricket spoke or because of the drinks they had putting them in a cheery mood.

"This is nice..." I muttered, comfortably resting against Zoro's side as my eyes slowly started to droop. I barely heard the swordsman hum as he tilted his head and rest it atop my own, one hand lazily resting itself around my waist as he continued to drink.

"Noland! Noland!" Masira and Shoujou cheerily chanted.

"In our pride and arrogance, we thought we had seen and heard everything in our short lives, but the sound of that short bell tolling left us all speechless—it was as if the clang of that bell had struck us all dumb with wonder" Cricket finished, giving a loud roar that Luffy and Masira were quick to join in as Shoujou only seemed to fall over in his drunken state.
