-Chapter One Hundred and Fifty-One-

"That's right, I'm a roughen tough member of the Straw Hats! Crying babies shut their trap when they get a load of me!" Chopper quickly boasted, causing Zoro to clap as he looked rather impressed and perhaps even proud of the reindeer. "Better do exactly as I say or these hostages are doomed!" he threatened as we continued to scream, mine wavering for just a second as I almost broke character and laughed at how cute the reindeer looked in his attempts to act mean and tough. "Alright, all of you buffoons stay down and let us board our ship!" he snapped.

"Now I get it" Zoro grinned.

"Interesting" Sanji hummed.

"Do it!" Chopper snapped when he saw that none of the Marines were moving. He wasted little time in giving them a very detailed and gory threat that eventually ended with the promise of going through with it if they didn't do as he said.

'I didn't think he had it in him' I was in awe as my chest seemed to swell with pride for the little reindeer, impressed that he was able to play the role of villainous captor so well.

"I'd do as he says, guys, he's serious" Zoro said, quick to play along as well. "If you haven't seen the neck-snapping thing, it's pretty messy" he warned.

"How would it look if you, the righteous arms of justice, let three women die?" Sanji asked as Nami, Kobato, and I whimpered, frantically shaking our heads as we huddled closer together.

"Chopper, what are you doing? That's not helping!" Luffy scowled.

"Shut up, you idiot!" Nami quietly hissed.

"Don't blow this for us, dumbass" I harshly whispered.

"He's going to kill us!" Kobato screamed, quick to distract any men who may have been confused by Luffy's remark.

"Please do as he says—I can't die before I get married!" Nami cried as she raised her hands and covered her face.

"Yes, please help! I'm far too young to be leaving this world behind so soon!" I wailed, quick to ignore the voices in the back of my head that snickered at the concept of me being distressed over the idea of an early death. Voices that mockingly whispered how hypocritical it was for me to act like such a thought truly bothered me.

"Um...Commander?" a Marine nervously questioned, not knowing what to do as he turned to his superior for answers.

"Fine, you win" the Commander sighed, angrily looking away as he raised his hand. "Lower your weapons and withdraw—stand down now! I said withdraw!" he snapped when some of the men seemed to hesitate in following his orders.

"Please, sir!" one of the soldiers begged.

"We can't risk it!" the Commander scowled as his men finally gave in and backed away.

"Wow, they actually complied" Sanji whistled in amazement, not having expected this plan of ours to work so well. I didn't blame him, I had expected them to prioritize the capture of the others over the lives of three measly women...but then again, Sanji was right earlier, it wouldn't have looked good in the eyes of the public if the government allowed for three innocent civilians to be killed during a hostage situation.

"Let's hope so" Zoro said as he walked over and freed Luffy from the net he was tangled up inside of.

"Thanks, Zoro...I owe you one..." the captain weakly murmured.

"We have complied with all your demands—now, release the hostages!" the Commander demanded.

"It worked, we did it!" Nami silently cheered before elbowing the reindeer's side. "Chopper, speak!" she quietly hissed, not wanting the reindeer's silence to give away any indication to the surrounding men that something wasn't quite right with this hostage situation.

"Listen, we give the orders here! These women will be released only after we escape!" Chopper huffed.

"You spineless—" the Commander stopped before he could say anymore, clenching his jaw as a Marine suddenly walked up to him and silently began to whisper in his ear before nodding as he whispered right back. "We won't try and stop you—you're free to go" he said as if he no longer wished to argue with the reindeer. I quietly stared, wondering what exactly was exchanged between the two men to cause the Commander to so willingly accept this bloodthirsty pirate's added demands.

"Very accommodating, but is it true?" Zoro asked as he threw one of Luffy's arms over his shoulders—letting the rubber man just dangle off of him as he started to drag him along. "Hey, will you hold it together!" he snapped when our captain almost fell to the ground as if he had no strength to really move on his own at the moment. With an irritated huff, we slowly started to move forward with caution as if we didn't trust any of the men to actually do as they promised. "Nami, Chopper, Skylar, Lover Boy...run to the ship on my signal—Luffy, I need your help to get out of this. You've got to stretch your arms and get everyone on board" he silently instructed as he eyed the men around us in suspicion.

"Okay..." Luffy nodded, his strength slowly starting to come back to him.

"I get it" Sanji said, quick to realize what it was the swordsman was planning.

"Whoops, how clumsy of me" one of the soldiers suddenly said, accidentally dropping his weapon and startling Nami in the process.

"Pay attention! You scared us half to death!" she irritably snapped before owlishly blinking when we suddenly heard Kobato give a startled gasp after a soldier had grabbed hold of her. Another one was already making his way toward Nami with the intention of grabbing her...only to groan and kneel right over after she harshly punched him in an attempt to get him away from her. I flinched when I suddenly felt hands grab hold of my shoulders, my head automatically rocketing back and making harsh contact with the stranger's face which caused him to groan in pain and retreat.

"Stand back down! What are you doing?!" the Commander snapped, confused and angry that two of the captives had attacked the men who were trying to help them escape.

"Oh crap—Nami! Skylar!" Sanji worriedly shouted.

"Make a run for the ship!" Zoro ordered. "You're on, captain!" he told Luffy as he motioned for the rubber man to do his part.

"Fall in men! Bring me those pirates!" the Commander demanded.

"Come on, this is it!" Zoro urged as Luffy finally stretched his arms back while a crowd of soldiers came rushing toward us. Nami and Chopper fearfully screamed at the sight before flinching as the Going Merry suddenly dropped down into the water from where she was elevated.

"Okay, all aboard!" turning my head, I groaned when my stomach was suddenly and harshly hit by one of Luffy's outstretched arms before yelping as I was thrown toward the Merry along with everyone else. Groans of pain filled the air as we became a tangled mess of bodies on the deck with our captain and swordsman soon smashing headfirst into the side of the ship right behind us. Their bodies came tumbling right over the railing where they immediately fell atop the rest of us, drawing out more groans of pain as they did so.

"Don't let them escape! All units, open fire!" we heard the Commander shout just as we shot out of the dock and started sailing away.

"It worked! We did it!" Luffy happily cheered...though his cheerful nature quickly turned into a loud whine when he was suddenly and harshly struck on top of the head by Sanji and Nami.

"You'll have to forgive me, captain, my gratitude's lacking now" Sanji growled.

"Give a girl some warning next time! Huh?!" Nami angrily snapped.

"I doubt a warning would be enough..." I groaned, slowly pushing myself up into a seated position before owlishly blinking when two swords were suddenly held out in front of me.

"Here" Zoro said.

"Thanks" I smiled, taking the swords as I carefully stood—being mindful not to let the skirt of the dress ride up too far as I did so, the last thing I needed was to unintentionally flash someone.

"You look good..." he suddenly complimented, gaze lingering for but a moment before quickly flickering elsewhere as a small blush dusted his cheeks.

"I feel ridiculous..." I grumbled, causing him to softly chuckle.

"Alright, everyone! Look alive!" Nami clapped in an attempt to catch everyone's attention. It didn't take her long to start giving out orders that sent us all scrambling about the ship—doing as we were told in order to avoid being shot down or caught by any of the surrounding Naval ships.

"Why are we hugging the edge of this cliff?" Zoro asked, raising an eyebrow when he saw just how close the ship was sailing to the surrounding cliffs.

"Because it's lonely" I answered, causing Luffy and Chopper to giggle.

"Protection" Nami answered as she simply ignored me. "We'd have cannons blasting us from both sides if we went through the middle" she pointed out.

"Where am I?" Usopp asked, already starting to panic as he quickly shot up and began to frantically look around.

"Oh, he's awake" Luffy brightened.

"That's good, for a minute there, I thought we accidentally killed him when we hit him" I chuckled.

"This is Merry! How did we get back?!" Usopp gasped once he noticed that he was on the ship.

"With hostages and a quick flight" Luffy grinned.

"I see, Nami and Skylar were the hostages—nice touch" Usopp praised, nodding and looking rather impressed as he examined Nami and me.

"Wasn't it though?" Nami asked, pleased to hear some praise for the plan we had come up with on the fly.

"You are good at tricking people" Usopp said before whining as he was suddenly struck by the ginger.

"You were doing so well until near the end" I sighed, shaking my head.

"Still, Nami and Skylar didn't make the ship start moving on its own—how did that happen?" Zoro asked.

"If I had to guess, I have to say it was the old maintenance guy" Usopp answered.

"Why is that?" the swordsman questioned.

"Just a feeling" Usopp shrugged.

"Nami and Skylar dressed as nurses is pure magic!" Sanji swooned as he continued to coo over how wonderful Nami and I looked in our uniforms, causing me to heave a heavy sigh as I mindlessly pulled at the bottom of the dress. Once more worried that it was too short despite knowing it wasn't.

"When can we change out of these awful clothes?" I asked Nami.

"Soon" she mindlessly answered, already waving me off as he narrowed her eyes in thought. "We escaped, but what good are we without maps or charts?" she frowned. "Argh! We were way better off with you guys in jail—what do we do now?!" she irritably huffed.

"Robin!" Sanji suddenly and excitedly exclaimed the second he spotted the older woman swinging her way toward the ship from wherever she had been. "There's a girl with style!" he whistled.

"And who knows how to make an entrance" I remarked, raising an eyebrow at the flashy way the archeologist returned.

"A map of the fortress?" Nami questioned, quick to look over the piece of paper that Robin had given her the minute she boarded the ship.

"I thought you might find it useful" the older woman smiled.

"It's amazing! Wow, you just gave us a way to escape here!" Nami grinned, eyes sparkling with excitement when she realized that we now had a way to properly escape this place.

"Great job!" I praised.

"Good" Robin nodded before nearly losing her balance as a cannonball landed just a bit too close for comfort near the ship, creating massive waves that roughly knocked us around.

"They're shooting at us!" Luffy shouted.

"I thought they weren't going to attack us because we had hostages!" Usopp cried out.

"They've probably already figured out that that was a lie" I pointed out. "I mean, hostages don't normally beat the shit out of the people trying to save them" I said.

"We knew that it was only going to be a matter of time" Nami said, not at all surprised that the Marines realized that the two nurses the pirates had taken hostage weren't really nurses at all.
