Chapter 29: A Dangerous Beauty
Adeline Rossellini, the Knight of Eleven, was soaking in a warm bubbly bath that was scented with orchid and night jasmine.
Despite warming up in getting soaked in the claw-foot tub, the young woman was in deep thought upon being one of the many people that heard Zero and Shade's declaration of attending to free the whole world from the might of the Holy Britannian Empire.
A slight scoff escaped from Adeline's mouth as she gently washed her light lavender hair looked shiny and silky despite being wet.
"First, Euphie's delusional Special Zone in Japan becomes a blood bath and now this?"Adeline muttered.
After finishing her bath, Adeline rose like Venus from the tub and put on her beige coloured bath robe before leaving the bathroom.
The Rossellini heiress was staying in her private chamber within the Pendragon Imperial Palace.
When she finished drying herself, Adeline placed on her Knight of the Round uniform with black boots before putting on her beige coloured cape that had a white winged mark on it. Her long light lavender hair was down with a single braid on her left side that was tied with a dark purple ribbon.
Just before walking out, Adeline paused herself to look at a photo of herself with Lynn as young children.
Her gloved fingers slowly touched the image of her younger half-sister.
"I miss you, Lynn."Adeline whispered.
The moment those few words escaped her mouth, the Knight of Eleven then left her room.
Suzaku couldn't describe how he utterly felt upon being taken to Pendragon and brought before Emperor Charles alone in the throne room.
The next thing that happened, the Honorary Britannian was promoted to be the Knight of Seven.
Did the 98th Emperor of Britannia realised what he was trying to accomplish?
Or was it that V.V told him about the things he revealed to him?
"Suzaku!"
Suzaku turned around just in time to see Gino rushed up to him in the hallway and put his arm around his shoulder.
"Hey, Gino."Suzaku replied slightly.
"Congrats!"Gino praised happily."You are officially a Knight of the Round now!"
"Thanks."Suzaku responded.
Gino noticed Suzaku looked anything but happy despite becoming a Knight of the Round.
"Why so gloomy?"Gino remarked."Still bothered that a few certain friends left Ashford Academy?"
The anger within Suzaku started to grow at the bitter reminder of the two people, who he previously considered to be his best friends, were the most wanted criminals in the Empire having escaped before he could even arrest them.
To hide his frustration, Suzaku gives Gino a fake smile.
"You could say something like that."Suzaku answered.
"Hey. Cheer up."Gino encouraged."It's not like you'll ever see them again."
Suzaku opened his mouth to say something to Gino, only for him to get interrupted.
"So you're the new guy?"
Gino and Suzaku turned around just in time to see Adeline join them.
Suzaku immediately realised the girl walking up to him and his friend was Rin's older half-sister.
"Suzaku, this is Adeline Rossellini."Gino introduced."The Knight of Eleven. She maybe called Britannia's Aphrodite. But don't let her pretty face judge you."
Adeline frowned at Gino.
"Thanks for giving my introduction, Gino."Adeline scoffed and offered her hand out to Suzaku."Nice to meet you, Suzaku Kururugi."
"Likewise, Adeline."Suzaku replied.
Adeline and Suzaku shook hands with each other.
"Never expected an Honorary Britannian to have such a grip."Adeline sneered.
"You're not so bad yourself."Suzaku admitted.
Adeline smirked and raised an eyebrow at Suzaku.
"Your grip."Suzaku added with a smile.
Suzaku and Adeline stopped holding hands.
"I am equally surprised that the new Knight of Seven turned out to somebody who is not a Britannian noble."Adeline complemented."How on Earth did you make the Emperor reward you that title?"
"I guess cause my loyalty to Britannia and piloting the Lancelot?"Suzaku assumed.
"I've seen how you piloted the Lancelot against the Knightmares of the Black Knights."Adeline admitted casually."Though sadly you weren't able to capture Zero or Shade despite your unique skills. Not even Lady Enneagram."
Gino chuckled at Adeline's declaration.
"She got you there, Suzaku."Gino remarked.
"I actually attend to work harder than before to bring the Emperor's enemies to justice."Suzaku stated with a firm tone.
"That's quite a bold declaration."Adeline responded and gave Suzaku a small card."Best to discuss it during dinner. See you at 5pm."
Adeline then walked away, leaving a bewilderment Gino and Suzaku behind.
"Did I just witnessed what just happened?"Gino said in awe."You, Suzaku, just got a date with an expert in the field of romance. Do you realise how many boyfriends she had?"
A sheepish smile appeared on Suzaku's face.
"I really have no idea, Gino."Suzaku answered and looked at the card that Adeline gave her."I am just as confused as you are."
When the day hours ended in the capital city of the Holy Britannian Empire, it became a city of lights that gleamed in the night sky that made it look almost beautiful.
A limo arrived outside the restaurant called 'Le Champagne' before the driver stepped out to open the door for Adeline.
Adeline Rossellini wore a long lilac dress with semi-transparent white hemline under the skirt and flowers ornaments on the waist. Her arms had a pair of shoulder-length lilac gloves with white embroidery and white frills on the wrists. On her feet were a pair of lilac low heels with butterfly ornamented straps on ankles. Around her neck was a white necklace with feather-like tassel. Her long light lavender hair was down with a single braid on her left side, tied with a silver butterfly themed hair ornament.
After paying the driver, the Knight of Eleven went inside Le Champagne after the doormen opened the door for her.
Men followed Adeline with their eyes until their annoyed female companions reminded them who they should be paying attention to.
Unlike other restaurants in Pendragon that were filled with spoiled and racist people, Le Champagne's atmosphere provided warmth, security, leisure and continuity to its customers.
Adeline went to sit in a table for two, just as Suzaku arrived wearing a white tuxedo suit.
"Am I overdressed?"Suzaku asked.
A light smirk appeared on Adeline's face.
"Actually, you look rather dashing."Adeline admitted.
After telling the waiters their orders and getting their meals, Adeline and Suzaku started talking to each other.
"So what's the story?"Adeline questioned.
"Story?"Suzaku said.
"The one becoming the Knight of Seven?"Adeline declared."Surely, you know that Britannians utterly despise non-Britannians and enjoy crushing them underneath their boots."
"It's actually…a long story."Suzaku answered.
"Not in the mood to talk about it?"Adeline guessed.
Suzaku shook his head.
"Not exactly."Suzaku answered with an apologetic look."Sorry."
Adeline simply shrugged in respond as she fiddled with a cooked shrimp.
"It's not true what they say about me."Adeline stated.
"Huh?"Suzaku said in confusion.
"Surely, you heard what others say about me."Adeline commented with a frown."I'm one of the Emperor's many son's play thing or Prince Schniezel's concubine."
Suzaku was struggling for words.
"Umm…well…I…actually…"Suzaku started.
Adeline frowned and pointed her small knife at Suzaku.
"Here's a warning if you believe those rumours."Adeline stated with a stern look."For starters, I am not a slut. I respect myself. I never seen a man nude in my life. And if you think I am one of those girls, you are in for a world of pain. Got it?"
Suzaku put his hands in defence.
"O-Okay, I get it."Suzaku replied with a nervous look.
Adeline then placed her small knife down.
"Good."Adeline complemented."I am not anyway interested in marrying any sons of the Emperor. Especially, Prince Schniezel. Many women find him extremely handsome. But behind that charming mask, his a total psychopath."
Suzaku let out a slight chuckle.
"Wow…you're a really honest person."Suzaku praised.
"I hate lying. But it's part of human life. Though not many guys are interested in getting a smart and strong wife."Adeline stated and then changed the subject."Anyway, Anya told me that you went to school with her and Gino."
"Yeah."Suzaku agreed with a nod."But at first, the students weren't very welcoming since I was the one accused of murdering Prince Clovis."
Adeline drank from her small cocktail drink before placing it down.
"Prince Clovis may have been an arrogant monarch, but he loved his mother Empress Gabrielle and little sister Laila more than anything."Adeline exclaimed."After the death of her son, Empress Gabrielle was greatly shocked and tended to stay at home. As for Princess Laila, she is utterly heart broken for losing her older brother."
Suzaku deeply frowned as he munched a slice of his steak before swallowing it.
"Zero is nothing but a murderer."Suzaku retorted."Even Shade and all those who follow them."
"But then again, Prince Clovis ordered the mass genocide in Shinjuku and many Japanese people lost their lives. Whether they were old or young."Adeline clarified as she cut a bit of her salad."He wasn't really a good Viceroy of Area 11 to begin with."
"T-That's true."Suzaku complemented.
Adeline looked at Suzaku.
"Word of advice, Kururugi. The Knights of the Round may be the ones that accomplish commands of the Emperor. But it's Bismarck Waldstein, the Knight of One, that has the full trust of Emperor Charles."Adeline warned with a stern look."Bismarck is proficient in combat with a sword and equally competent in Knightmare Frame combat."
"I understand."Suzaku replied and became confused."And you're telling me because-"
"Because you're utterly naïve person as my cousin Euphie is."Adeline declared with a frown.
A stunned look appeared on Suzaku's face.
"Euphie is your cousin?"Suzaku said in surprise.
A scoff escaped from Adeline's face.
"My late mother was a younger sister to her and Cornelia's mother, Empress Victoria."Adeline admitted."Just what the hell gave you the idea that the Emperor would utterly approve a Japanese boy having a relationship with one of his daughter? Especially, Euphie's mother and older sister, who sees non-Britannians as numbers?"
Suzaku blushed at the question from Adeline, not knowing what to say.
"I…"Suzaku started.
Adeline scowled and simply faced palmed in respond.
"You're a real messed up stew, Suzaku Kururugi."Adeline retorted.
V.V headed out of the throne room after speaking with Emperor Charles.
The Leader of the Geass Order was not pleased that his younger twin brother promoted Suzaku as the Knight of Seven since he didn't trust the Honorary Britannian despite his loyalty to the Empire.
"Suzaku Kururugi."V.V scoffed with a unfazed look."What a crass and pathetic man."
The sound of approaching footsteps earned V.V's attention and saw a young boy with sandy brown hair and dark pink eyes wearing a noble attire walking up to him.
The boy looked like he had a caring personality, but behind the mask he was a a cold and ruthless killer.
He bowed at V.V.
"You wished to see me, Director V.V?"Rolo asked.
"Yes, Rolo."V.V replied."I have a job for you."
V.V tossed Rolo a small photo of Lynn Rossellini.
"This girl. Lynn Rossellini."V.V stated, his voice filled with venom at mentioning the Britannian-Japanese girl."She is Shade. The co-leader of the Black Knights. I want you to get rid of her."
Rolo looked at the photo of Lynn for a brief moment before looking back at V.V.
"How do I find her?"Rolo asked.
"I hear that there is some rebel activity happening around Euro Britannia."V.V exclaimed with a frown."It's likely that Viscount Rossellini's half-breed pest will go there to gather more allies for the Black Knights. Act as your somebody that is interested in joining the rebellion. And if you see her alone…silence her."
"As you wish, Director V.V."Rolo responded with a nod.
Rolo turned to leave before V.V spoke to him again.
"Now go see, Charles."V.V instructed."He will be giving you new orders regarding your mission."
Rolo nodded at the Leader of the Geass Order before heading into the throne room of the Imperial Palace in the dead of night.
Now Rolo has entered the story…
